00:00October 15th this is your week 7 New York Giants practice report or your Blue Rush

00:06practice report by the New York Post sports Brendan London Ryan Dunleavy let's get straight

00:10into it Jackson Dart mania Jackson Dart hype it's there and it's it's it's there for a reason

00:16uh three straight games uh three straight opening drive touchdowns we haven't seen that in quite

00:21some time now um is all the hype at this point small uh sample size is all the height warranted

00:29yeah he's doing things that only the best quarterbacks do when they're uh rookie quarter

00:33he's in a club I think 50 plus rushing yards in their first three starts with like I want to say

00:39it's like uh Lamar Jackson Jalen Hurts and Jackson Dart he's in uh you mentioned the three straight

00:45games with uh opening drive touchdowns it's the first time for the Giants since 2009 now a guy

00:50named Eli Manning was the quarterback then so he's doing things that are impressive I think one thing

00:56you've heard about Jackson Dart a lot is preparation I think that plays into a little

01:01bit the opening drive touchdowns I was hoping Dayball would tell us this morning like how they

01:05script plays or something but you got a better chance of uh of Santa Claus landing on your roof

01:11than you do of Brian Dayball telling you too much so uh didn't get too much there but hopefully Dart

01:16will reveal a little bit more about what goes into their opening drives because that's when they've

01:21been the most impressive on those opening drives yeah I think what's most impressive for me is the

01:25way that he uses his legs and again he's not just a quarterback that's going to run he keeps his

01:29eyes down the football field you saw out route that he threw to Theo Johnson uh for for big gain

01:35against the Eagles had the the blitz came he could have easily tried to get out of it but he waited

01:41there and he waited for the route to develop with with his tight end who has he has great chemistry with

01:47so far but you've seen him be able to get out of the pocket and extend plays that's what you love

01:53as a wide receiver about this guy because when he breaks the pocket you're not worried about okay

01:58now I got to turn around and block no scramble drill rules goes off in your head and a guy like

02:03Wondell Robinson was the was on the end of something like that on his touchdown when he was able to uh

02:09to make some move uh when when when Dart was able to buy some time Denver they're gonna blitz and people

02:17can say well Justin Fields is mobile how do you think the rookie's gonna go up against this Denver

02:22defense Jackson Dart's a better player than Justin Fields right now three games into his career he's

02:26a better player than Jackson than Justin Fields Justin Fields is a runner he had a thousand yard

02:31season with the Bears a while ago Justin Bear Justin Fields holds the ball for forever and takes

02:37too many sacks Jackson Dart goes through a couple reads and then he he looks to take off he has a better

02:42pocket feel uh than uh Jackson Dart it's almost like Justin Fields is trying to prove that he can throw

02:48the ball to and Jackson Dart is just doing whatever comes natural to him so I wouldn't compare the what

02:55the Jets stinky offense did against uh Denver too much to the Giants now look they are gonna blitz they

03:01have 30 sacks they lead they have 75 pressures they're leading the NFL in both those categories they

03:07lead the NFL in pressure percentage which is uh pressures per drop back so it's not just that they're

03:12pressuring a lot they're they're efficient at it uh the Giants also have a brick wall at left tackle

03:17and I don't think you can undersell for a second we always say Andrew Thomas might not be the best

03:22player on the Giants he's the most irreplaceable player on the Giants and anybody who was screaming

03:26about trading him when he took a long time to return from his Liz Frank injury should be eating

03:31those words right now because one reason Jackson Dart has been so effective is he doesn't have to

03:36worry what most rookie quarterbacks have to worry about which is their blind side he never has to

03:41worry about it so Thomas first Bonito uh who leads the NFL in sacks for Denver is the matchup

03:47within the matchup in this game yeah anytime Andrew Thomas in the past has gone down you've just seen

03:53the the offensive line completely unravel so like you say he may not be the best player but he is this

03:59team's MVP without a doubt and that continues to show and just really quickly Jackson Dart going up

04:04against this uh this Broncos defense that that blitzes a lot I feel like the Eagles game was like the

04:10PSAT towards this SAT that's coming up because the Eagles tried to unravel him a couple times with

04:17the blitz and he was able to read his sight adjustments hit his hot reads and uh keep keep

04:22the drive keep a drive moving or or keep the the down and distance in in a sustainable uh position for

04:28he in this offense the biggest question now whether it be going into Denver or for the rest of the year

04:35are you comfortable with the weapons he has on the outside to throw to or if you're Joe Shane put

04:44your Joe Shane hat on are you going to go out and go get a guy I put my Joe Shane hat on can I go sign

04:50Saquon Barkley for no I can't do that we're done with that we're done with that right um no I'm not

04:56comfortable with that especially Darius Slayton is on the side again this could be a week-to-week thing and

05:02not you know there was people thought there's a chance he was going to play last Thursday that was

05:06never going to happen on a hamstring um so this could be kind of a week-to-week thing and even with

05:11Darius Slayton I'm not comfortable with the weapons that Jackson Dart has I would be looking and I hear

05:16the Giants are looking to uh make a receive make a trade for a receiver I would be um prioritizing a

05:24receiver who's under contract for 2026 who can come in and be maybe a number one or a number two or

05:31compliment Wandale and Slayton right now while Neighbors is sidelined and the next year is your

05:35number two to uh Malik Neighbors and fits him well uh playing opposite they complementary strengths

05:41I think the Giants are looking to do that uh not so much because they believe they're a playoff team

05:47but think back to the Leonard Williams trade of five years ago when they were headed nowhere but they

05:52wanted Leonard Williams for the future there could be a kind of thing like that where they get somebody

05:56who has some team control uh some names I've heard Jawan Jennings uh Dontavion Wicks from the Packers

06:04uh Chris Olave Rashid Shahid um and uh Jerry Judy okay all right I mean out of all those guys if you

06:14were to say if you if we're out in Vegas right now and you were to put a a green chip on one of those

06:21names who would you put that chip on I can make a lot of cases I if you asked me this morning I would

06:26have said Dontavion Wicks if you asked me yesterday I would have said Jerry Judy because him and

06:31Dayball go way back to their Alabama days uh there was rumor about the Giants trading for Judy a couple

06:38years ago before he was traded to the Browns um I guess I would say right now I would say Jawan

06:43Jennings who actually is a free agent at the end of the year so I don't love that one I'd be looking

06:47for somebody else uh but uh that there's a possibility and remember the Giants Wandale Robinson's a free

06:52agent after the year so if they add somebody that gives them a little bit of leverage maybe in some

06:56Wandale Robinson negotiations though I think Wandale's having you know a very good season

07:00if they win this game I'm loving the Rashid Shahid pick right there or trade because I feel like

07:06it's something you don't have to give that much up from and you can get a lot of value from this kid

07:11catch and run guy put speed on tape we saw what he was able to do when they played the Giants before

07:16the half 87 yard bomb they were they had zero chance of catching that guy so if you can't get a dynamic

07:23playmaker that's a sure thing then at least to add an extra element of speed whether it be the jet

07:29sweeps wherever it is get a find a way to get this guy the ball uh finish this up here Ryan before we

07:34go back in and get ready for a player availability in the locker room one thing I think we didn't touch

07:39on on that trade topic is the Giants don't have a third round pick because they traded for Jackson

07:43Darton that's the going rate a lot for a receiver trade at you know in October tends to be the third

07:48round pick Giants don't have one so they're gonna have to weigh in that front office I'm wearing my

07:52Joe Shane hat do I want to give up my second round pick and then not have a pick from one to four do I

07:59want to give up like a 20 27 third round pick or something uh do I want to give up and or do I want

08:07a lesser player the Giants have three sixth round picks do I want a lesser player and maybe I give up

08:12like a five and a six all right that's something we're definitely going to be keeping an eye on again

08:16you heard the man not only today or tomorrow but for the rest of the year uh as well for Ryan
