00:00How's it going today? Wonderful. And yourself? Good, good. Good. In the Hollywood realm. Yes. How does it feel?
00:07It feels good. It's exciting. I think tonight's exciting for a lot of people that are involved in this movie and a lot of the talent.
00:15And it's just, it's really fun to be able to see this on the big screen now.
00:18And talk to me about being an executive producer and how much you feel this film parallels your real life.
00:24Well, it's cool to be an executive producer, but really the goal for me was just to be able to tell this story.
00:30From the moment that we read it, it impacted me and my brother and family and friends and everyone we shared it with.
00:37And so the goal from then was like, man, if this impacted all of us in different ways and unique ways,
00:41it would be really cool to put this on a screen where young people could come and see it
00:45and hopefully walk away being encouraged and inspired.
00:48And I do think there's some things in running the race that kind of tie into my life and our family's life a little bit
00:56of just relationship and family and goals and adjusting and adapting and God's plan for your life and all of those things.
01:04So I do think there's some tie in.
01:06I think part of the reason why it related to us so much.
01:09And obviously there's the ending is, you know, not what people are probably thinking when they're watching it.
01:14That's true.
01:14So talk to me a little bit about that.
01:17Well, I think that a lot of people probably think that it's going to end where everything is perfect
01:23and everything is just fine and it's happily ever after.
01:27And there's a lot of enjoyable movies that are happily ever after, but that's also not real life.
01:32And I want to be a part of something where it wasn't fake.
01:36It's not, this isn't like make-believe, but this is real.
01:39And in real life, it's not always, it doesn't end that way, but how in the midst of the disappointments,
01:44in the midst of the frustration and the obstacles, how we can still have faith, hope, and love
01:48and how we can run our race, even though at the time we don't always feel like we're winning.
01:53And obviously there is an injury that takes place, which is something you have dealt with in your career.
01:59A couple of them.
01:59Yeah.
02:00Do you feel like the NFL is really kind of getting on the right track when dealing with CT?
02:03Um, that's a hard question to answer, especially in a four minute interview,
02:09but I feel like there's, there's a lot that we don't know and we're trying to figure out.
02:13And, um, and it is scary to be honest with you.
02:17I'm someone that, you know, I got hit in my head a lot.
02:19So there's, there's a real aspect of concern there.
02:22And so I do a lot of things to take care of my brain because, um, I did hit a lot of people with my head.
02:29So I try to be smart with it.
02:30And I know we only have a couple of minutes, so it's a lot to cram in here, but, um, you are very,
02:36very busy.
02:36You just got engaged.
02:37Congratulations.
02:38Thank you so much.
02:39Are you having time to play in a wedding right now?
02:41No, not yet.
02:42We've been, um, the last few days, we were in Ecuador, Mexico, all throughout the States for a night to shine,
02:48which is a worldwide prom for people with special needs.
02:50We've been traveling like crazy.
02:52So I think we'll try to get to it, um, pretty soon, but I'll let her probably do more of it than me.
02:57And you're all over the world.
02:59So like, where, do you have a home base, you and her?
03:01Where, what's your guys' plan?
03:03Well, she's from South Africa, but based in New York and I'm based in Florida.
03:06But I think she traveled, I think had 20 international trips last year and I had a bunch too.
03:12So we're kind of all over, all over the place.
03:15Um, and what, when you think about a wedding, your wedding, like what's like a must have for you guys to celebrate and have that night?
03:20So whatever it is she wants, where it's her dream and that would be good enough for me.
03:26So you're letting her do all the planning?
03:28I'll help in however way I can, but that day will be about her because that will make me get the most joy.
03:34What are you looking forward to most about being married and has anything changed for you since you guys got engaged?
03:38Oh, looking forward to most?
03:40Um, I think it's just spending, um, life with someone that you love and care for so much.
03:45And what's next for you?
03:47You're very, very busy.
03:49Are we going to see you play baseball more?
03:50Baseball starts in less than a week.
03:52So I'll be there in four or five days and it's starting and it's exciting and it's a dream for me.
03:57And pursuing that has been so fun and, um, I can't wait for the next step.
04:01More producing maybe?
04:03Acting?
04:03What about acting?
04:04I don't know.
04:05Um, you know, I've thought about it.
04:07I don't know what's next, but I would definitely be open to it.
04:10Very good.
