00:00So, when we pick up in Legacies, where is Alaric? What kind of state is he in now?

00:05Well, we open up the show with Alaric and Hope basically coming to grab somebody who's...

00:14I don't want to like... I can't spoil... I don't know where I'm in the spoiler.

00:18We find Alaric in the opening as the headmaster of the new Salvatore school.

00:23And you see that the school is populated with all kinds of different kids who are dealing with all kinds of different issues.

00:30Whether they're vampires, witches and werewolves and whatnot.

00:34And so, he's in this responsibility of keeping order in the school, making sure the curriculum is set.

00:39But his ultimate purpose is to ensure that they can handle being in the world.

00:43Which doesn't understand them. They don't understand the world.

00:46And how do you control those darker impulses and how do you interface with the world accordingly?

00:53And this is obviously a school for teenagers and younger kids.

00:57How is he dealing with that and two teenagers of his own?

01:00Well, you know, arguably he's doing the best he can.

01:03But I think that's what's enjoyable about the show.

01:05You see him trying to balance all these responsibilities with his own daughters.

01:08With his father relationship with Hope.

01:10With his mentor relationship with all the other kids.

01:13Being the authority figure, headmaster.

01:16And sometimes he does it well and sometimes he doesn't.

01:19And I think when he doesn't do it and he tries to do it better, that's the Alaric I like to see.

01:25The human Alaric.

01:26He's definitely the leader of this school, but does he have any help?

01:29Will we see the introduction of new teachers and all that?

01:31Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.

01:32Dorian will come back.

01:33You'll have new teachers.

01:34You'll see...

01:36Yeah, you'll see it.

01:37They start to weave their way in through the narrative.

01:39Is there any possibility for romance for Alaric?

01:41I hope so. I really do.

01:42We have a wonderful actress who's come in and she and I have done a couple of scenes and have great chemistry.

01:48And I would love to see that blossom and grow.

01:50Alaric's had some bad times before with love, but I needed to work.

01:55What can you sort of tease about Matt Donovan and Jeremy Gilbert coming back into the picture?

02:00At the end of the first episode, Matt Donovan makes an appearance.

02:03You learn that he's sort of like the town kooky conspiracy theorist sheriff who knows what's really going on,

02:09but he's got to keep up a front for the townspeople.

02:11And when things start to go south and it starts to bleed over into his territory,

02:17you'll see Matt and Alaric butt heads over, you know, the jurisdiction of the school.

02:22And that, you know, I better get the kids in order or there's going to be trouble.
