00:11Almost Acoustic Christmas and I'm here with Wetleg. Hi guys. What's up? How are you doing?

00:18Very well. Yeah, it's so good to see you. The last time that you played for us you were in

00:23the Helpful Honda sound space, you kicked ass and I feel like a lot has happened since that time

00:29you've been nominated for two Grammys for your latest album Moisturizer, for your song Monge 2.

00:37Give it up for two Grammy nominations. Yeah. How's that feeling? Pretty crazy actually.

00:45Yeah. When we got the call to be like, oh you've been nominated again, me and Ellis are bassists,

00:51we were just like literally on the tour bus like, like last year, like, well like last album or

00:56whatever, like that was our year. It doesn't really like feel like it's necessary to like,

01:01you know, have our name in like the nominations pool. So, yeah, it was crazy. It was sick.

01:08Yeah, because it doesn't always happen, right? You know, because you did so well on the last album

01:12and you just go, oh, I don't know, is this one going to be as good? But you crushed it and I'm

01:16so excited that you're nominated again. And, you know, I know that you're from the Isle of Wight

01:21and what I'm wondering is what is it like during Christmas time when you're there? Or are there

01:28any Christmas traditions that you have with your family or anything like that?

01:34There's the Boxing Day Swim. Have you ever done that?

01:37I've never done it.

01:38You're not much of a beach guy.

01:41Wait, tell us about, tell us about the Boxing Day Swim.

01:45Um, it's usually it's in Ventnor or Garned. It starts at 9am, I think, on the dot. And

01:55basically like someone just like, is like, right, okay, now's the time. Everyone runs in. Everyone's

02:01like, it's fancy dresses, like optional.

02:04What? You swim in fancy dresses and stuff?

02:07Like fancy dress.

02:08Okay.

02:08You know, like costumes.

02:09Okay. All right.

02:11Not fancy dresses.

02:12Yeah, yeah. Oh, oh, like swimming.

02:14Like a costume.

02:14Okay, gotcha. Okay.

02:16Is fancy dress not a thing here?

02:18Do you use the phrase fancy dress in America?

02:20Only if you're wearing a really fancy dress.

02:22Okay, yeah.

02:22You know what I'm saying?

02:24That's so interesting. No, a fancy dress means you wear a costume.

02:29And, yeah, we just like in the back.

02:30And is the water freezing?

02:32It's really cold.

02:33Yeah. I would never do the Boxing Day Swim.

02:38Have you done it?

02:40It's really good because it takes like a hangover from like a solid 10 to like a 3.

02:47Yeah, there's nothing like that cold water shock that will do it for you.

02:51I mean, this last, you know, you guys have just, you've always been so busy.

02:56You know, you put out your last album, your first album.

02:59It was like a whirlwind.

03:01You won these Grammys.

03:01You're on tour.

03:02And then you got back in the studio, put out moisturizer.

03:05So how do you guys handle the stress and the pressures from everything that you got to do

03:10when it comes to being in a band and having different anxieties and stuff like that?

03:14How do you handle it?

03:15I think it depends on the situation.

03:17Sometimes you've just got to grit your teeth.

03:19And sometimes you've got to say, it's time to stop.

03:22Yes.

03:23It's time to stop right now.

03:24Take a break.

03:26Do you guys feel like you can really lean on one another as bandmates?

03:30Yeah, for sure.

03:31Yeah.

03:32And our whole crew and like management.

03:34Yeah, like everything.

03:35You've got good people around you.

03:37Really good.

03:38That's such a great feeling.

03:39So is this your first acoustic Christmas or did you play a couple of years ago?

03:44It's your second one.

03:46Oh my God, you guys.

03:48That's so exciting.

03:49Do you have any special memories from the last one?

03:51Did you get to watch any of the bands who played?

03:53I don't think we did stick around.

03:56Yeah.

03:57Well, it's always a whirlwind.
