00:18Welcome live to Montevideo, Uruguay in Centenario Stadium as the Pulp is addressing the people
00:24that have gathered here for this night vigil, prayer vigil. Let's listen.
00:29...is to bring sacraments to the faithful.
00:34...y sacerdotes que recorren grandes distancias para llevar los sacramentos a los fieles.
00:42Al pensar en todo esto, me venía una y otra vez a la memoria una pequeña ciudad bíblica.
00:50As I reflected on all of this, one small biblical town came to mind, Bethlehem.
00:59The prophet Micah had called it the least among the clans of Judah.
01:05Saint Matthew, on the other hand, later said, by no means are you the least.
01:12Bethlehem was still small. Nothing had changed in its size or political importance.
01:21Perhaps Bethlehem can teach us something about this reality.
01:24when we are few in number, when our strength wanes, when we realize that our social presence is no longer
01:34what it was once.
01:36We may be tempted to judge our situation by purely human standards.
01:47The gospel invites us to see things differently.
01:53God chose Bethlehem.
01:55And that choice alone is enough to prevent us from equating smallness with insignificance.
02:10Basta pensar en la Eucharistia.
02:13El Señor del Universo presente bajo las humildes apariencias del pan y vino.
02:21We need only think of the Eucharist.
02:24The Lord of the Universe is present under the humble appearances of bread and wine.
02:29That same divine logic is already revealed in his birth.
02:35Saint Luke recounts that when the time came for the child to be born, there was no place for them.
02:44All the inns were full.
02:47Perhaps you can see in this an image of today's indifference.
02:52Life becomes filled with activities, affections, plans and distractions
02:58until the absence of God is no longer felt as an absence.
03:08We end up living without seeking Him, or even without realizing how much we need Him.
03:17Christ comes, but the inn is full.
03:21There is no room inside.
03:23So He ends up lying in a manger.
03:29Soon, Herod will try to kill him, unable to tolerate a reign he cannot control.
03:37Something of Bethlehem continues to happen.
03:40God can be considered unnecessary, and faith confined to the private sphere
03:47as though He had nothing to contribute to society.
03:59When we try to build a world without God, we run the risk of leaving humanity without a place as
04:05well.
04:07But none of this challenges the reality.
04:11That child is God, and He comes to save us.
04:22That us includes each and every one of us.
04:29For indifference can also creep, like little by little, into the lives of those of us who believe.
04:40Bethlehem asks us a simple question.
04:43Is there room for Him?
04:45Is there room in our time, in our way of thinking, in our homes?
04:49Is there room to listen to Him, to receive His forgiveness, to allow His words to correct us?
04:55We need to keep Christ at the center of our lives through prayer, mass, confession, and meditative reading of the
05:07Gospel.
05:17We must all become disciples again and again.
05:21If we want others to find Christ, we need to know the way to Bethlehem ourselves first.
05:40The Magi also went to Bethlehem after seeing a star from afar.
05:46They were not experts in the Scriptures.
05:49They did not know where their journey would end, and they could not even explain what they were seeking.
05:58But that light awakened in them a yearning that set them on their journey.
06:04Dear friends, with humility and simplicity, you can reflect the light of Christ in your own lives.
06:16Perhaps there are people who would never open a Bible on their own, who have not set foot in a
06:23church in years,
06:25or who cannot even say whether they believe in God.
06:29But when they see you, the desire for God may be awakened in them.
06:34They may even discover that it is worth risking their lives to find Him.
07:00But seeing you, they may even discover that it is worth risking their lives to find Him.
07:09Young people, dare to take the step of marrying and starting a family yourselves.
07:20Do not be afraid of forever.
07:24Married couples, open your home to life.
07:28Even when the world tells you that a child is a burden.
07:40If any of you feel that Christ is calling you to leave everything behind,
07:44to follow Him in the priesthood or in consecrated life,
07:48do not ignore that voice.
07:51Do not ignore that voice out of fear of missing out on other opportunities.
08:01When being just and honest comes at a price, pay it.
08:05When forgiving seems like a defeat.
08:10Forgive!
08:27When everyone tells you to think of yourselves first,
08:30do not be afraid to put yourself in the last place.
08:33Be willing to give up time, money, comfort and plans to serve others.
08:55May those who see you find themselves asking, why do they live in this way?
09:00Where do they get this freedom?
09:02Why do they love one another so much?
09:06The star, the mage I saw, was not the destination.
09:10Its mission was to lead them to Bethlehem, where Christ is.
09:15If our lives spark a question, they will have born fruit
09:20when that question guides someone to Jesus.
09:24To shed much light, we do not need to be many, but rather to reflect the Lord's light.
09:40St. Luke now takes us to another scene.
09:43Some shepherds are spending the night tending their flock.
09:48They did not know the star, they did not set out on any journey, nor did they seem to be
09:55searching for anything.
10:00They are simply in the midst of their lives, doing what they do every night.
10:07It is precisely there that God comes to meet them.
10:11Do not be afraid, for see, I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the peoples.
10:30These words should always occupy a central place in the life of the Church.
10:46Good news needs witnesses, for we have received news that deserves to be proclaimed to the world.
10:54Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has become man. He is God with us.
11:10Through Him we know that our sins can be forgiven.
11:13We can accompany those who are dying and tell them that their lives will not end in nothingness.
11:20We can bring bread and wine to the altar and receive His body and blood.
11:29We can say to those who have fallen, get up, you can still begin again.
11:39Look at what has been entrusted to us. Jesus Christ is our hope.
12:08Society may find many valuable things in other institutions, but none can replace the proclamation that God's love is stronger
12:17than death, hatred, violence, war, and sin.
12:21This is the joy we bring. The Pope has come to remind you about this joy.
12:28Notemos que el ángel añade que dicha alegría está destinada a todo el pueblo.
12:34The angel adds that this joy is intended for all peoples.
12:41He does not say for those who were expecting it, nor for those who are perfect.
12:58Some people like the Magi are already searching, and we must accompany them on their journey.
13:04Others, however, like the shepherds of Bethlehem, are not searching for nothing, for anything.
13:09For them this joy must go out and find them in the midst of their night.
13:17After hearing the proclamation, the shepherds said to one another, let us go now to Bethlehem.
13:23There they found Mary, Joseph, and the child.
13:28The evangelist adds that they returned to their fields glorifying and praising God.
13:35They returned to the same work, the same paths, and probably the same problems, but they were no longer the
13:42same.
13:43They had encountered Christ.
13:58Dear friends, may this encounter be like a visit to Bethlehem so that you can return to your lives in
14:07a new way.
14:07May Christ truly enter into what you do, what you love, what you choose, even those aspects of your life
14:15that no one sees.
14:17Be saints.
14:22Do not settle for a mere decent life or for a habitual faith content with doing only the essential.
14:31Do not give God only a part of yourselves.
14:34Give yourselves completely.
14:40Saints.
14:42Saints.
14:45Saints are men and women who overflow with the abundance of life in Christ.
14:51They are free and authentic.
14:53people whose lives make it attractive to say a resounding yes to love, to truth and happiness.
15:13do not be afraid then to aspire to holiness.
15:16Christ did not call us to mediocrity.
15:19He called us to a new and full life like his own.
15:26Dear brothers and sisters, dear Uruguay, may everyone know that we have been to Bethlehem.
15:35May it be evident that Christ lives and that encountering him makes all the difference.
15:41That same Jesus who was born in Bethlehem, who died and rose again, lives forever and remains with us.
15:49He awaits us.
15:54He awaits us.
15:55He awaits us.
15:56He awaits us truly present in the Eucharist.
16:02He awaits us truly present in the Eucharist.
16:13There was born the one who would give himself to us as the bread of life.
16:19Today, therefore, we can continue to encounter him so near and so humble in every tabernacle.
16:27Seek him there in Eucharistic adoration.
16:30Speak to him as you would to a friend and let him look upon you.
16:40Let us also place our lives under the gaze of Our Lady of the 33.
16:45May she, the morning star who leads us to her son, teach us to recognize him and follow him.
17:00Let us ask the Lord for the grace to always respond to his call like she did.
17:06Here I am, Lord.
17:08Here is your servant.
17:10Let your will be done in me.
17:12Thank you very much.
17:36Well, we are seeing the statements of Pope Leo XIV here in this prayer video.
17:43At Centenario Stadium, the last activity of the day on his second day of the apostolic journey to Latin America.
17:52As we can see on the images, thousands have gathered here in the crowds to experience this moment alongside the
18:00Pope.
18:00Let's listen to the prayers.
18:02Of course, the Pope is blessing the people here today.
18:05Let us raise our prayers to God who wanted to become one of us and he remains alive among us,
18:12his people.
18:14He listens to the people.
18:16He listens to the cry of his faithful.
18:17Let him give us the grace to follow him with true faith.
18:24For the whole Church of God in the midst of difficulties, that it may continue to announce the joy of
18:38salvation, so that sustained by the strength coming from God, it may be courageous in its mission, credible mission in
18:48its testimony.
18:50And may it continue to attract all people to Christ, the fountain of life.
18:57Let us pray.
19:07Let us pray.
19:11Let us pray.
19:20For our country and all those who live in this land, for the cities and for everyone
19:36that they may open their hearts and know the joy of knowing Christ.
19:44We were seeing these final moments of this video as they are joining in prayer with Pope
19:49Leo XIV in this night visual brief in the Centenary Stadium in the capital, Montevideo, in Uruguay
19:57as part of the last activity of this Saturday. As the Pope continues on his apostolic journey
20:03to Latin America, we have seen the Pope carrying different messages. We saw him, for example,
20:10in the community in Casa, earlier in the vulnerable community, Casa Valle, making a message in terms
20:17of against violence, a message of people coming together, of unity, a message of people working
20:22together, not abandoning each other. Then at the Catholic University of Uruguay, his meeting with
20:30the education sector, a message on the importance of teaching, and here in the spiritual prayer,
20:35a message of the importance of faith, of not losing faith and continue to trust in God in this case.
20:44But the activities will continue. We're going to continue covering, of course, tomorrow he will
20:48travel to Florida where he will hold some activities there as well, and then from there he will then
20:53travel to Argentina, the second leg of his apostolic journey to Latin America. We'll have all the
20:59information here on Telesur, so stay with us.
