00:00And this game's going to take place, the first one, December the 20th.
00:03That's the college football playoff, live from Oregon, 7.30 p.m.
00:07That's James Madison going out west to take on Oregon.
00:10The line opened up around 20 and a half points, Joe.
00:12Most outlets are north of that now at 21 and a half,
00:15and a total of 50 and a half JMU in the college football playoff.
00:20Some say they shouldn't be there.
00:21Well, they're here, taking on Oregon.
00:23What's that spread line, Joe?
00:25Well, Donnie, I mean, pay attention to this game,
00:27because this is likely the game that will alter the qualification rules
00:32for the college football playoff moving forward,
00:36especially when JMU likely gets run out of the building here.
00:42And that is likely what is going to happen here.
00:45And look at the markets here, Donnie.
00:47We saw this open 20 and a half, which is we were all scratching our head going,
00:52how are the 12 best?
00:53How do we have any games over a touchdown, lined over a touchdown,
00:57and expect us to believe that these are the 12 best teams in the country?
01:01Nope, it's not.
01:02And while congratulations not taking anything away from JMU,
01:06the market tends to agree with what I'm saying here, Donnie,
01:09because we're now up to what, 21 and a half, 22 and a half?
01:13This thing is likely going up, I believe, Donnie, to 23, 23 and a half,
01:18maybe even 24 before it's all said and done.
01:21The total, though, is kind of stuck at 50 and a half,
01:24but we all know what's going to happen there.
01:26We are going to see that over money start trickling in
01:29as we get a little bit closer to this game.
01:31But for right now, congrats, JMU.
01:34But moving forward, the group of five,
01:37yeah, we won't be seeing teams or matchups like this, I think, any longer.
01:41I got to tell you, too, because, like, yeah, we'll watch this game
01:44and we'll enjoy it to some extent,
01:46because most people are going to gamble on it anyway.
01:48But how about Texas and Arch Manning going up to alts in there?
01:50Or how about, you know, the angry Notre Dame squad here?
01:53They are now.
01:54They should be in the playoff and playing up there.
01:55It's amazing, but it's only college football,
01:58and it's designed to make you upset.
02:00Just the way they get down to business, Joe.
02:02Now, look at the next game here.
02:03And I call this maybe a personal game for Joe Ranieri,
02:06because the Kennesaw State fighting Joe Ranieris
02:08are taking on Western Michigan, the MAAC champions, in a bowl.
02:12Line opened up at 4 1⁄2, Joe.
02:14Still sits at 4 1⁄2.
02:15Total opened up 49 1⁄2.
02:17We're still sitting at 49 1⁄2.
02:19Kennesaw State, Western Michigan, on the 19th at 11 a.m.
02:24You've got to – I love this here, Donnie,
02:26because these were two teams that we cashed a lot of tickets on this year
02:31with Kennesaw State, Conference USA champion,
02:34taking down Jacksonville State.
02:35We were on that one, and, of course, Western Michigan, the MAAC Darlings,
02:40one of the best teams all year nobody paid attention to.
02:44And the reason I really like games like this, Donnie,
02:47is because while all of the other bowl games,
02:51before you start putting any money down betting them,
02:55you have to understand what's going on with the portal
02:57and the opt-out situation.
03:00It makes it very difficult when you're talking about betting Texas
03:03or Vanderbilt and so on and so forth, Donnie, who's in?
03:06Who's out?
03:07Who's not playing?
03:08When you've got teams like Kennesaw State and Western Michigan,
03:12this is, without a doubt, their national championship.
03:16There is nobody going to be opting out on either side here.
03:20They're going to want to play this game,
03:21and they are going to want to go toe-to-toe.
03:24So this is one of the more fun ones, Donnie,
03:26because we don't have to be like, well, who's this playing quarterback now?
03:30Where is the guy?
03:31They're all there, Donnie, which makes this very interesting,
03:35especially given the fact that we're seeing the line hovering around three-and-a-half.
03:39Western Michigan opened up as a four-point favorite.
03:42We're starting to see three-and-a-halves pop up.
03:44I do think this goes off as a field goal, Donnie, when it's all said and done.
03:48It is in Myrtle Beach at Brooks Stadium in South Carolina,
03:52so neutral site.
03:53But it is a field goal game.
03:55And let's face it, it's going to be very hard for me
03:58to pick that game, Donnie, because I like both of these teams a lot,
04:02but it should be a lot of fun to watch it go down.
04:05Wow, I didn't get in the college football playoff.
04:07Wow, it's everybody's fault here.
04:09Well, of course, teams are going to be upset
04:12because we have an inventational tournament.
04:14We don't have a decided, this is the best 12 teams in the field.
04:17And it was designed that way by college football,
04:19whoever runs it, because they're stupid.
04:21And we can all admit that, where if you leave it up to the public,
04:23the public will pick out, trust me, the best 12, 16, 24 teams out there,
04:28and we will get a better playoff than what's instituted now,
04:31which is Joe continually supports out, and rightfully so.
04:33Why are you having a playoff game that sits at 20-and-a-half
04:35when, if you inserted the right teams, we're under a touchdown
04:38or maybe even a field goal, if that?
04:40It's just the way it lays out right now.
04:41But the thing I get a kick out of is Notre Dame being upset.
04:45On3 Sports put out a tweet yesterday.
04:47It reads this way.
04:48Notre Dame AD Pete Pavacqua says the Irish were targeted
04:51by ACC social media campaigns pushing Miami over Notre Dame
04:55in the college football playoff.
04:57Quote, we were definitely targeted.
04:59We bring tremendous football value to the ACC,
05:01and we didn't understand why you go out of your way
05:03to try to damage us in the process.
05:05He's living so far in a glass house,
05:08he doesn't even recognize what the heck he's even talking about, Joe.
05:12It's simple.
05:13The ACC football teams don't include Notre Dame.
05:17Just because you play a handful of ACC teams, you're not in the ACC.
05:22You know what would have been funny?
05:22He should have said it all.
05:23It's like, I can't even believe USC, who we play every single year,
05:27did not advocate for us nationally to be in the college football playoff.
05:30Everybody sees through that.
05:32Nobody's taking Notre Dame's side now because that's really what they think
05:35inside the building.
05:36I can't believe the ACC put one of their members in over us
05:40because we let them play a couple games with us per year.
05:43Stop the madness, Joe.
05:44Listen, every other sport at Notre Dame is involved with the ACC, buddy, right?
05:53They're all part of a conference.
05:54They put football in there.
05:55Except football here.
05:57And now, listen, it has worked for you, right?
06:00You've gotten the benefit of the doubt for how many decades now, right?
06:04Since the Newt Rockne days.
06:06I get it.
06:07But the reality is it didn't work for you this year with this situation here.
06:11And what did you want exactly the ACC to do?
06:16They knew they were in jeopardy of spending all that money and not getting
06:20anything back by not having a team in the postseason because they screwed up.
06:25And you lost to Miami, Donnie.
06:27So what was the choice exactly?
06:29Of course they were going to go, all things being equal, to have Miami there.
06:34Even your so-called slight is absurd.
06:37What damage did you get exactly by the ACC going, hey, you know, if it comes down to
06:44head-to-head, well, you know, Miami could very well be it.
06:48I just don't understand this whole outrage about how the ACC is permanently hurt.
06:54They're like, stop it.
06:55Everybody was expecting you to be in because you're Notre Dame, not because you earned it.
07:00I understand this, too.
07:02I didn't hear Notre Dame say, yeah, like if we make the college football playoff, we give
07:06our money to the ACC.
07:07They don't give any money to the ACC.
07:09They're going to promote the football team.
07:10They get money from Miami being in the college football playoff.
07:14They wouldn't get a penny for Notre Dame.
07:15Unbelievable that they're thinking this process.
07:17But by the way, he was talking about what he was saying.
07:20Take a look at this clip right now.
07:22Get a better picture of it.
07:22Secret, we were shocked, I would say mystified, by what happened on Sunday.
07:31And just, you know, where my head and heart go, and I know Marcus feels the same way, you
07:38just feel for those student-athletes on our football team.
07:43You know, as I said yesterday, as I said on Sunday, we felt we did everything we could over
07:47the course of the season.
07:49You know, we lost our first two games.
07:50We're not hiding from that.
07:52We lost against a really good Miami team.
07:55We lost a nail-biter against Texas A&M, two great teams by a total of four points.
08:00And then we did everything we needed to do.
08:03We had one of the most dominant 10-game runs in the history of college football.
08:09And on top of that, we felt that the CFP committee, the ranking committee, felt the same way.
08:16You go back to that first ranking where we were 6-2, and Miami was 6-2, and they had already
08:21beaten us.
08:23And we were 10th, and they were 18th.
08:25And the only thing that happened from that point forward is we both went on these amazing
08:28runs.
08:30And through no fault of our own, we wake up and find out that, you know, we're the odd
08:34man out.
08:35We're on the outside looking in.
08:37Look, here's the issue that he has.
08:39He's sort of explaining it, but he's passing the point.
08:41We understand that it's when you lose in college football, and you have a chance to regain
08:45some of that back.
08:46His point of, well, Miami lost two games in a row, and we were both 6-2.
08:49Why were they so far behind us?
08:50Because Miami just lost two games in a row.
08:52But then what happens over the next five weeks, Joe?
08:54Miami continues to win.
08:55Teams lose in front of them.
08:56You get closer and closer.
08:58That's what happens.
08:59That doesn't mean you have it at the same time.
09:01It's the same reasoning between, okay, well, when we were both 2-2 at this point, it's
09:04something like we had two losses.
09:06Notre Dame should have been ranked 60th.
09:07But we knew they weren't going to get pushed back that far because they lost to two ranked opponents,
09:11and they were ranked coming into the season.
09:12That's all you need to know.
09:13By the way, Big 12 wasn't exactly thrilled with what Notre Dame was saying either.
09:18Look at his comments.
09:19I will say this, and I'm a little outspoken about it.
09:23I don't like how Notre Dame's reacted to it.
09:26So, okay, I think Pete's behavior has been egregious.
09:31It's been egregious going after Jim Phillips when they saved Notre Dame during COVID.
09:36We all knew, and it was very transparent.
09:39Hunter was very transparent about it.
09:40The chair, that as Notre Dame and Miami got closer together, head-to-head would be a factor.
09:47Okay?
09:48BYU lost.
09:49They came closer together, head-to-head, and made a difference in that decision.
09:54So, I think he is totally out of bounds in his approach, and if he was in the room, I'd tell him the same thing.
10:01How about that, Joe?
10:02What do you think?
10:02If you had won the game, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
10:08So, once again, the way it worked out was, unfortunately, it came down to you and Miami.
10:14And one of you had to go in.
10:15And the numbers across the board, season-wise, pretty even.
10:19The only thing that separates you is the fact Miami won.
10:22To think the ACC isn't going to promote that fact in some way, shape, or form is absolutely ridiculous.
10:31Don't lose the Texas A&M game.
10:33Don't lose the Miami.
10:34Even if you forget the Miami game, if you beat Texas A&M, we're not having this conversation.
10:39So, it's amazing to me the personal drama that you make out of this where, listen, it was close.
10:46You were on the outside looking in.
10:48Sorry, but that's the rules that were created, unfortunately.
10:51As bad as they are, that's the game.
10:53Don't hate the player.
10:55Hate the game here.
10:56I don't know what to tell you.
10:57And by the way, also on this other look where it's like, oh, you know, to cause irreparable harm or our relationship to ACC.
11:03What do you think the ACC should do?
11:04Kick them out from every other of those Olympic sports out here in soccer.
11:07You know, good luck.
11:08You're independent in everything.
11:10Now you have no budget, and you're going to be flying around to Utah and Idaho and Maine to get games now,
11:16as opposed to having that schedule set in the ACC.
11:18It can go both ways, Notre Dame.
11:20Join a conference.
11:20We will never have an issue because the ACC would have pushed you in to the college football playoff.
11:25Calcium markets coming up next.
11:27Let's get after it, people.
11:29Changing on a day-to-day basis here.
11:31That's that calcium markets that we love to look at and also hot and heavy topics here that we like to talk about,
11:36which is the college football playoff.
11:39And that's not going to get settled for at least another month down the line, but the games will begin shortly.
11:43And if you are looking at the calcium market right now, it's no stranger to being in that top spot,
11:47which they have been just about all season long from start to finish.
11:50It's Ohio State.
11:51But their price point last week, Joe, before the Big Ten championship game was around 38%.
11:56We now see them dipping to 30%, which means $100 wager betting on Ohio State to win the championship will pay back $334.
12:04Behind them, Indiana, who has increased 7% from last week before that Big Ten championship game.
12:10They now sit at 22% and the SEC champion at 16% for the Georgia Bulldogs as they look to get an increased share there as well.
12:18A lot of other teams between 10% and 5%, Joe, in the Cal State marketplace.
12:23Who is your leader in the clubhouse that you would like to wager on?
12:27Well, and listen, I think the way I have it, Donnie, is I have Ohio State, Indiana, and Texas Tech probably power rated the three best.
12:36And Georgia is right on the outside, right outside of that.
12:40Any combination of those four teams, I think, have a legit shot of advancing here.
12:46So, to me, if you really want to take a flyer, if we're going down the board with a team, you know, Miami, to me, has to be considered in here.
12:57I don't like Oklahoma.
12:59I don't think Ole Miss is going to get it done here.
13:02But it's amazing to me.
13:04Here we go again.
13:05And nobody's talking about Georgia.
13:06And their number might actually be worth investing in as well.
13:10So, Miami and Georgia would be the two teams that I'd look at because if they can win a game here, you might get a pretty decent return before the outcome even has to happen.
13:21By the way, I look at this, too, Joe, and I say to myself, like, again, the Calci markets here, it's not necessarily, which it does work out in your favor.
13:28I took Ohio State and wrote it out.
13:29They won.
13:30And I got my, you know, $334 back.
13:32But to me, we're using these markets more as, like, an analysis of what we think is going to happen with those short-term dips and also buys.
13:40Alabama's at 4%.
13:41Nobody wants Alabama after their effort against Georgia.
13:44Georgia, look, singular, fantastic football team.
13:47Beat up Alabama.
13:48There's no question about it.
13:49A $100 wager on Alabama to win the national championship at Calci, Joe, is $2,500 as a payback.
13:55I don't think they're going to win the national championship.
13:57But I'm going to tell you right now, I actually like them more than I do Oklahoma.
14:01And if I bet $100 to win $2,500, Alabama wins that game.
14:05Those 4% odds, Joe, probably double, and you've got a profit in hand at that point here.
14:09That's the way I would look.
14:10Down the board saying, I don't necessarily think I can win the championship, but can I get through a round or two?
14:15Because when I look at that matchup between Alabama and Oklahoma, which Alabama on the road is favored slightly and I agree with, I look at the Oklahoma offense and I pray that they can move the football.
14:23When I look at Oklahoma, or excuse me, Alabama's offense, I go, well, unless they're going up against Georgia, like, they should be able to hang around that football game and win because they have more weapons.
14:31Alabama is one of those teams I look at at the bottom of the barrel that nobody wants that could be profitable, Joe, even after just one game.
14:37Well, listen, and they should have a chip on their shoulder because let's not forget, once they got blown out in the SEC championship, there were a lot of people jumping off the bandwagon and were looking to throw them out.
14:50So, you know, can they take, but they also got to get healthy.
14:54They're dealing with a ton of injuries on that team.
14:56And I'll say this, the first game against Oklahoma, I mean, look at the yardage difference offensively, Donnie.
15:02I mean, it wasn't even close.
15:04Alabama dominated them.
15:06They just made a few more plays on defense OU in order to win that game.
15:11Can they afford to do that?
15:13Can they afford OU to have that kind of discrepancy in another game and expect to come up with the big defensive play?
15:20It's tough.
15:21I'm with you.
15:22If Bama can get healthy, there's some value with them.
