00:00The death of a dynasty. Did we see that last night? The Kansas City Chiefs took on the Houston Texans
00:05and it just felt like every week we talk, Joe, about the Kansas City Chiefs in a must-win to
00:10save their season environment and just not winning enough of those games. 20-10 final,
00:14the Houston Texans come away with a victory. This game was tied entering into the fourth quarter.
00:1910 points for the Texans, none for the Chiefs. That was their doom. But also understand this,
00:24you can be the greatest quarterback, the most talented quarterback, the best head coach that
00:28we've ever seen. If you don't have an offensive line, your offense cannot work. Patrick Mahomes
00:34last night, Joe, 14 of 33, 160 yards, no touchdowns, three interceptions, an incredible stat line for
00:44one of the best to ever play. You know, Donnie, those decisions there in the second half, you know,
00:52with Andy Reid and Mahomes, some of those fourth down calls, it felt rushed. It felt
00:58panicked. They looked panicked. They didn't, you know, they weren't the calm, cool, collective self
01:03that they have been over the last decade. And it showed. I mean, Ray Rice dropping a wide open pass
01:10that hit his hands on a fourth and one, you know, not Mahomes' fault. You mentioned, of course, Kelsey,
01:16but it just very strange because I believe Houston had a fourth and one at their own 30, 31 yard line.
01:23They opted to punt it away. And for some reason, I don't know, the Chiefs just thought their defense
01:30wasn't doing a good enough job. It was 10-10 in the fourth, Donnie. I don't know why they felt such
01:36urgency to start the fourth quarter to have to go that route, but they didn't execute and ended up
01:42catching them. And also, you know, because I like when coaches are aggressive, but also smart
01:48aggressive. In a tie football game where a defense is playing well, not a great look to go for it on
01:53your own 31. Because understand this, Joe, when you go for it on the plus 31, it's like, okay,
01:58we don't get it. Well, the other team's got to drive 70 yards for a touchdown. If you get the fourth
02:02and one conversion, let's say you get five yards, where does that put you, Joe? 35 yard line,
02:06your own there. This will guarantee you're even getting points out of that situation. But if you don't get
02:10the first down, you are now changing the momentum of the game and giving everything for the Houston
02:14Texans. And a couple of plays later, boom, Texans punched it in for a touchdown. The Chiefs could
02:19never get off the carpet. It's interesting to me that the Chiefs, knowing the situation for what
02:23they were looking forward to, you want to be aggressive, but sometimes being aggressive
02:26stupidly. And also, you have one of the best short yardage running backs in professional football,
02:31Kareem Hunt, who also showed you on the touchdown he scored early in the game, ran through like five
02:35dudes to get into the end zone. Hand it to him. If you don't get it, you live with it. A pass play that
02:40went incomplete. Tough scene for the Kansas City Chiefs, but also looking at what we're getting
02:44out of the Houston Texans. C.J. Stroud, 15 of 31, wasn't efficient, but did enough and didn't turn
02:49the football over. He only had a QBR rating of 33 and a half. Also, the Houston rushing game,
02:54which Woody Marks isn't a great back, only 68 yards. And by the way, they finished as a team,
02:582.6 yards per carry. What the amazing part for me, Joe, is the Kansas City Chiefs offense. We were
03:03led to believe coming into the season, you know what? Revamped. They're going to have a decent
03:07running game. You got Mahomes, a quarterback. You'd have three quality wide receivers that can
03:12A, get downfield and also have the intermediate routes, along with Travis Kelsey at tight end.
03:17They never turned out to be that big play offense. And also, Patrick Mahomes completing 20-yard
03:22passes downfield, one of the worst in football. How did that ever come to be?
03:27Yeah. You know, again, in total, Donnie, I think six balls that hit receivers in the hands that would
03:34have been for big plays. And they dropped every one of them. And Kelsey's was, you know, that one
03:40was the interception. You know, he did that, too, in week two against Philadelphia. If you remember,
03:45it should have been a touchdown in the end zone. And instead, he bobbles it. And that's the end of
03:49that. So it wasn't just him. But I mean, Rice, you had also the other tight end there had two balls,
03:57Gray hit him in the hands. He didn't. It's just very un-Kansas City-like here. And ultimately,
04:04it ended up catching him. And, you know, maybe Andy Reid was like, hey, listen, we got to take
04:09some chances. We got to do something here. Because he knew what the rest of us knew watching it.
04:15Yeah, this just doesn't look like a very calm, cool, and collected Chiefs team anymore.
