00:00Monday night football, which usually rules on Monday night,
00:03specifically when the Kansas City Chiefs are going to play.
00:05Maybe if we have Jaden Daniels a little bit more hype,
00:08but we did have a double-digit spread last night
00:10in a total of roughly 47.5.
00:12And it wasn't any surprise.
00:14I'll tell you what it was, though,
00:15is first time in the career for Patrick Mahomes,
00:17first two possessions, throwing two interceptions.
00:19Now, granted, both of those were very nice.
00:21The first one was a very nice play on the sideline,
00:23but also Travis Kelsey tipping the ball up the air over the middle.
00:26Things weren't looking good if you had the over,
00:27and they certainly didn't end good in a 28-7 victory
00:30with the Kansas City Chiefs.
00:32But the offense and Patrick Mahomes awoke in the second half.
00:34Three touchdown passes by Mahomes,
00:37who finished with 34 passing attempts,
00:39299 yards, three touchdowns, and those two interceptions.
00:43The better team last night was the Kansas City Chiefs.
00:46You give the commanders a little bit respect for fighting in the first half,
00:49but the bottom just fell out.
00:50Marcus Mariota just not good enough.
00:52Joe, you pointed out to start the show,
00:53running the football wasn't in the cards for Washington.
00:5620 carries, 60 yards in that game,
00:59which 28 of those, your leading rusher was Marcus Mariota.
01:02The Chiefs win by three touchdowns and cover easily.
01:06Yeah, and it really was a tale of two halves for Kansas City, Donnie.
01:10I mean, that was what it was.
01:12And give credit to the commanders' defense.
01:14They did a great job in the first half,
01:17kind of frustrating Mahomes.
01:18Kansas City made a bunch of stupid mistakes early on,
01:22kind of shot themselves in the foot a couple of times.
01:25But in the second half, I mean, that was just right at the first three drives
01:31out of the locker room.
01:32Touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, game over.
01:35And that was the end of that.
01:37Because you kind of knew Kansas City,
01:39they were going to be up against it.
01:41I mean, Washington was going to be up against it, Donnie.
01:44They weren't coming back from double-digit deficit at all.
01:47Yeah, 25 completions for Patrick Mahomes last night.
01:51Travis Kelsey, six catches, 99 yards, and a touchdown.
01:54And Rasheed Rice coming back off that suspension.
01:56Looks like that number one wide receiver they need.
01:58Nine catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.
02:00Xavier Worthy, five for 53.
02:02So the guys that you expected to catch passes and score touchdowns,
02:05they were doing that last night for the Kansas City Chiefs.
02:08And also with Washington, they dropped the three and five.
02:10Marcus Mariota's a backup.
02:12Yeomans worked last night, but just not good enough.
02:13That's a good Steve Spagnuolo defense on a tough place to play
02:16on a Monday night and one of the best home field advantages in football.
02:20Typically, you need to run the football to sort of quell that crowd
02:22and slow the game down.
02:23And by the way, Washington probably felt fantastic, Joe.
02:26They had 7-7 with Kansas City in the second half.
02:28Let's see if we can steal this game.
02:30But the one thing you were excited for is the wide receivers coming back
02:33for the Washington Commanders.
02:35Terry McLaurin, three catches, 54 yards, and a touchdown.
02:38You'll take that.
02:38But Debo Samuel, absolutely nowhere to be found.
02:42Three catches, 11 yards, and he turned the football over,
02:44getting in the face mask with an easy pass that should have been a gain
02:48because you just throw a screen pass, turns into an interception.
02:51Washington just wasn't good enough, and those were the expectations last night.
02:54Double-digit underdog got hammered last night.
02:57They're licking their wounds.
02:58They continue to lose games as they wait for maybe Jaden Daniels
03:01to come back and save their season.
03:03Well, not only are they losing games, Donnie, they're losing players again.
03:08I mean, last night, they lost their left tackle.
03:11Laramie Tunsell with a hamstring.
03:14Terry McLaurin, we welcomed him back.
03:16Guess what?
03:16He left early.
03:17Quad injury there in that game as well.
03:20So, I mean, it just – they keep piling up there.
03:24And the defense, they're good enough to, you know,
03:27to be competitive in a half, Donnie, but asking this Washington team
03:32with backups now in key positions on both sides of the ball,
03:36it's going to be a – Jaden Daniels or no Jaden Daniels,
03:39and we talked about it, right?
03:41This week saying, listen, this is not a good commander's team,
03:44so take your time getting him back to 100%.
03:47I don't think there's any – would he have done anything more
03:50than what we got from Mariota last night?
03:53I don't think so with that cast of characters.
