00:14I mean, he has the ultimate life form and Sonic isn't.
00:18It turns out he was doing it because he knew an emerald was nearby.
00:22But he doesn't seem to have an emerald radar.
00:25So it's a plot hole that he even knew an emerald was there.
00:28Maybe he does have an eternal emerald radar.
00:32That would be about as creative as him being able to break boulder through the spin dash.
00:38And am getting an emerald gives him a psychic vision?
00:42Well, that's plot convenient.
00:44It was lame when it had narration from Sonic talking to the audience directly.
00:50Shadow whines at Sonic and the story wastes a bunch of my time
00:54with them running around with nothing new happening to justify this.
00:58It's literally just junk food to watch.
01:01Where it looks a little nice,
01:03but there's nothing actually amazing of substance artistically here.
01:07I'm not getting to see him constantly smack Sonic around with his fist.
01:12So what's the point?
01:13I just wonder why Shadow isn't explaining himself.
01:18He's not an idiot.
01:20Sure, Sonic would have no reason to believe him.
01:24He would also have no reason to think he was lying.
01:27I like seeing Prime Sonic get smacked into a boulder and punched.
01:31The flashback ends with Sonic saying he can't remember a thing that happened right after that punch.
01:39What doesn't he remember?
01:40Him breaking the prism?
01:42Eventually, I see Rubble Rouge and Knuckles...
01:46Nux...
01:46Watched camera footage of Sonic that's conveniently just zoomed in to showing him.
01:52Where he talked about Green Hill Zone's treats.
01:55There's a flashback where I see Rouge leap upside down for the first time.
02:00It's amazing it took so long to take advantage of her being a bat.
02:04I get to see Knuckles try to fight back against a robot setting fire to Green Hill Zone.
02:09And Rouge saving him because apparently someone with super strength needed saving.
02:15Take our word for it.
02:17What was Knuckles even doing there?
02:20He's supposed to be on Angel Island.
02:23This is definitely a different universe from the games.
02:27I wouldn't be annoyed by this if Sega hadn't insisted...
02:31Oh, this is totally canon.
02:33It should have explained why he was there.
02:36When he didn't have Sonic and Tails as friends to give him a reason to even leave Angel Island.
02:42This story wastes my time reminding me of Sonic's being tested.
02:46Rubble Rouge is condescending to Knuckles calling the idea of him trying to be useful, adorable.
02:53Why portray her as unlikable?
02:55The whole point was to make her cool.
02:57This story again shows me stuff I already saw in the past episode.
03:03Once again, I have to hear Sonic's voice crack when he says hallucinate.
03:06Why make him sound lame?
03:10Well, I'll say one thing in its favor.
03:13The episode's more tolerable than the last one because Sonic's barely in it.
03:18Still boring, though.
03:19The power went out in the city.
03:23Some normal people think they should join the resistance because the power going out gives them hope that it'll happen again.
03:31Eventually.
03:32It turns out that Nine figured out before the Chaos Council the obvious fact that Sonic used his own power instead of drawing power from the city.
03:40This is already a world full of people who have power without needing to drive from the city.
03:46Why did they not know this instantly?
03:50Eventually Sonic asks to say his last words, and somehow he's given the chance to say them.
03:57He looks so pathetic, trying to nervously talk happily.
04:01He says it's about the friends he made along the way, and once again I have to listen to that badly acted Sonic wait.
04:09Sonic tells Nine about Knuckles, Amy, and Rouge, saying that one of them is nice and calling Nine buddy.
04:17He's obviously not doing a good enough job explaining why he should trust them to be his friends,
04:22because he never points out that they're okay with Tails having two tails.
04:27And then Rebel Rouge saves him and flies away from robots as some cool music plays.
04:33Rusty Rose can actually extend her arms to pin people down.
04:37Which was cool, but ripped off from Bonnie anyways.
04:41And some laser ends up freeing the wheel Sonic was trapped in.
04:45I really do hate the pacing in this show.
04:48Sonic being trapped in a bubble isn't anything new either, that was known in Sonic the comic.
04:54Nine presses buttons and saves Sonic, and he says he's woozy and smiles.
05:00Story having comedy at his expense.
05:03He sounds lame when he asks why do you have to hate on him like that.
05:08He usually loves being mean to Knuckles.
05:11Why is Sonic even able to get dizzy?
05:14He never gets dizzy when he spin dashes or goes through loops.
05:17So he can't get himself dizzy.
05:20But he can still get made dizzy?
05:22That's how it works?
05:24That's more confusing.
05:27Sonic being dizzy is important, because it's the reason why he's completely helpless just standing around until Rusty pins him to the wall.
05:36And the story ends with that as the cliffhanger.
05:39This story by Eric Weiss followed Rebel Rouge and Nux most of the time, until they start rescuing Sonic from a bunch of Robotniks.
05:48Because Sonic was hardly saying anything in the episode, it wasn't a horrible slog like the previous episode.
05:55It wasn't torture to go through like I thought it'd be most of the time.
05:58It at least made sense.
06:01And it was trying to be cool with stuff usually happening and it being action focused.
06:05It was still a little boring because the pacing was so slow, being mostly irrelevant to plot progression.
06:11Sometimes the story cared so little about whether it was progressing the plot that it showed me a completely irrelevant scene where Shadow Jason tried to hurt Sonic.
06:19Because in this world, Emeralds can conveniently give a vision of the future, which already happened in the novel adaptation of Sonic & Knuckles.
06:29And it was done better there because the vision was clear about what it showed.
06:32This time the vision showed Shadow practically nothing.
06:36So it just sucks that inconveniently, the Emeralds must only have the ability to show him a useless vision.
06:42Because if it had been clear, Shadow could have talked him into not doing the thing that would have caused the whole show.
06:50Because Shadow didn't tell Sonic why he wanted to fight him, and fought him instead of just grabbing him and making sure he'd be still,
06:58the Reuters portrayed him horribly by making him a brainless bully who only exists to fight Sonic.
07:04And the Reuters will just assume fans will cheer just at seeing him at all.
07:09You could have had Metal Sonic do what Shadow did, and for a different reason, and it'd be fanservice that weren't.
07:16Now this fight could have been satisfying enough to make up for it being insulting to Shadow in force,
07:21but it was mostly running, which we've already seen before.
07:25Just have Shadow be hit by a brainwashing ray, and then it'd feel justified.
07:30The only excuse for liking Shadow so far is because he's being an audience surrogate a little because he hates Sonic from thinking he's an idiot.
07:37Because he thinks Sonic's gonna do something that'll get him into some future hardship to deal with.
07:42But the vision didn't even tell him what that was, so he couldn't say anything to prevent that.
07:47So he just has to try to beat him up really bad because it's his only chance of preventing it.
07:53Why didn't Shadow win considering the fact that he has Chaos Control?
07:56He warped multiple times without holding an Emerald, so he has Chaos Control.
08:02Why didn't he freeze time without an Emerald or a large enough amount of rings?
08:06It's not one-to-one with the games as it is, so the story should have made sure I was already aware that he couldn't freeze time without an Emerald or 50 rings.
08:14Why didn't he work in front of Sonic with his fist held out in front of him to guarantee that Sonic would run into it?
08:20He could have just repeatedly done that and guaranteed he'd win.
08:23What would have stopped him from freezing time and carrying Sonic really far away from the prism?
08:30It was a little cool to see Rouge and Nux get to save Sonic.
08:34I just took it for granted because none of this is new.
08:37The story contributed nothing to the series creatively.
08:40Knuckles being a freedom fighter, that was already done, Archie.
