00:00Recently retired Chief Justice Ivor Archie was bestowed the Tobago Medal of Honor Gold
00:06in the sphere of public service. I have been in public service for most of my professional life.
00:13I spent eight and a half years in the Cayman Islands, eventually rising to the position of
00:20Solicitor General and I was recruited from there to be a High Court Judge. Mr. Archie said a career
00:28in law is a brutal discipline. Emerging from the post-assessment interview, they asked me an
00:35interesting question. They said, have you ever thought about being a judge? It was suggested to
00:39me that I should apply. If we're talking about a career in law, then it is a brutal discipline.
00:49Don't do it for prestige. You're not going to be happy. You really have to have a passion
00:55for it. But if you do have that passion, don't give up. Tobago Medal of Honor Gold was also bestowed upon
01:05former Secretary General of CARICOM, Sir Edwin Carrington. Tobago Medal of Honor Silver to
01:12entrepreneur Claude Benoit, with the youngest recipient of the Chief Secretary's Award being
01:19Miss Jolie St. John in the sphere of tourism. Panist Kirsch Ramsey also received the Chief Secretary's
01:26Award. International footballer Kenya Kordner received the Tobago Medal of Honor Bronze.
01:33I'm 36 now. I've been involved in football in Trinidad and Tobago and the world. My most rewarding
01:41moments as far is being named the top goal scorer in Europe in 2022, which I was the only Caribbean and
01:52from Trinidad and Tobago to go at that to score the most goals in one season in the whole of Europe.
01:58I encountered many challenges, being away from family and friends, not getting to turn to someone to
02:07talk to when you need to. Believe in God and praying and talking to him to give him a comfort and peace.
02:12Makoni's Egg Farm Limited in the sphere of entrepreneurship was also awarded the Tobago Medal of Honor Bronze.
