A veteran journalist, a media company owner and a group of content creators are being honoured for their work.

The honours are being bestowed by the Trinidad and Tobago Publishers and Broadcasters Association.

00:00The Prime Minister of Dominica, Eugenia Charles, has welcomed the new government in Trinidad and Tobago.
00:06Veteran journalist and presenter Dominic Kalipisad is being honoured by the TNT Publishers and Broadcasters Association.
00:15Receiving the award for media excellence, Kalipisad, a former CCN Group Head of News, warned about the threats against freedom of the press.
00:24It can even be challenged by the relatively low salaries paid to so many journalists who lay their lives and reputations on the line to get the job done.
00:38He was one of three people honoured at the TTPBA's dinner and awards ceremony.
00:43These contributions all helped to build the local publishing and broadcasting industry.
00:51Christopher Laird also received an award for media excellence for his work at Gael and on hundreds of video productions.
00:59One of the greatest awards to receive is to be considered an equal among giants. For that, I am truly touched.
01:08And Darren Sandy and the Two Cents Movement for their compelling storytelling received the award for community excellence.
01:15The Two Cents Movement is a result of many young voices that thrived on bravery.
01:21Being brave enough to tell a story, whether it was from a position of power or from a position of persecution.
