00:00Remember the story I told you guys yesterday that Odell Beckham went on the Pivot podcast and said
00:04it's hard to make a hundred million dollars and maintain any level of wealth? Remember that?
00:09I do remember that. Apparently the word on the street now and again don't believe everything
00:13you read so I'll take you with a bit of a grain of salt because not only did he make just over
00:18a hundred million dollars in his playing career he obviously made millions of dollars in endorsements
00:22as well. Yes. I don't know the exact number of that but he made well over a hundred million
00:26dollars in his relatively short NFL career when you consider you know how he jumped on the scene
00:32on that Monday night for the Giants against the Cowboys with that one-handed catch but I was
00:37watching a streamer yesterday with Odell Beckham on it so this isn't like by the way it's now confirmed
00:42good so it is what you're about to say is so Odell Beckham apparently is near bankruptcy all right
00:50and uh was uh I guess selling off some of his game warning game used memorabilia one particular pair
00:57of cleats I think sold for fifty thousand dollars I think the cleats he wore in the Super Bowl when he
01:03toured the ACL and had that great first half and had the touchdown it looked like he might be in the
01:07running for Super Bowl MVP prior to going down with the non-contact torn ACL so he went online or with
01:14the streamer and they did a live auction and a dude bought those cleats for fifty thousand dollars
01:20and there are reports out there which kind of back up his appearance on the pivot when he talked about
01:26how hard it is to maintain any level of wealth even when you had a hundred million dollar contract
01:31which tells me that the rumors out there are probably more right than not right which is so
01:37incredibly sad also you know a lot of people gonna be like oh how dumb can you be to blow a hundred
01:42million bucks and that you're you're you're welcome to say that because for the far majority of us as
01:48Americans we'll never see a hundred million dollars in our lifetime most of us will never see ten million
01:54dollars in our lifetime and when you see a guy who is given a gift at birth with athletic ability
02:01to get him to the NFL a lot of hard work goes along with that to make over a hundred million dollars
02:08in a relatively short amount of time let's say in his case a decade all right to make a hundred plus
02:14million dollars to wake up broke that's crazy for most people it is it is but and i there's part of
02:22me that we feel bad for him we've seen this because you know once you've had money it's very hard to live
02:29without having money right and i've lived that not on that level but you've lived where i made a lot of
02:34money i filed bankruptcy i was literally looking for change under couch cushions so that i could buy
02:40myself breakfast right like i lived it so i get it so i have empathy for odell becker for antuan walker
02:46and other guys that have blown through fortunes because i lived it but there's also a part of me
02:51that's like man having enough of us experience publicly what we experience where the next generation
02:59will learn from our mistakes yes but that's crazy but the young men in general because they talk about
03:06young men don't go to the doctors and a lot of things it doesn't extend just to on the field
03:11these guys also think they're invincible off the field he believed that he was going to come back
03:16from these injuries get back to the level of play that he was at and make a bunch more money and it
03:21didn't happen i think his last year for the dolphins he made just over a million dollars right and he was
03:25a guy that was for a small period of time not even arguably the best wide receiver in the sport
03:30it was a three-year span where he was a 1300 plus yard guy every year so it's just but and here's the
03:36reality because i can hear it not that the guys on the stairs are saying it but i know how they think
03:40and feel and maybe they represent more of america than you and i do there's a sense of almost gloating
03:46from some people like rooting for his demise wanting to watch him suffer like get joy out of the fact
03:53that he blew a hundred million dollars yeah now i'm not that guy because again i didn't blow a
03:58hundred million dollars but i blew what i had and it's all relative to what you have yeah it's always
04:02relative but you know there's also an aspect of it you know they always say be careful who you step on
04:08on your way up because those are the people that are there on your way down too right yep and if you
04:13act like an arrogant a-hole i'm not saying ordell did or you you turn people off you know um throughout
04:20your uh career based on you know you the way your personality your behavior that kind of stuff
04:25don't expect people to feel sorry for you when you hit rock bottom again
04:29you
