00:07Before we get into previewing the AFC South, Pro Football Hall of Fame selection has been overhauled.
00:16This process has now officially been overhauled.
00:19Now, it's not out officially yet when it comes to who and who don't have votes any longer,
00:25but the selection committee reduced from 50 to 25 members, plus three non-voting participants.
00:34It eliminates the senior category for players retired at least 25 years,
00:39enshrining between three to seven candidates each year from a 15-person pool, 13 players, one coach, and one contributor.
00:48One person who isn't on the committee will present all candidates to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of
00:57Fame.
00:57So what does this mean?
00:59So say you have a voter who has his vote, and he's based in Chicago,
01:05and there's a player that he wants to promote to make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
01:10And you have players in, say, Philadelphia, like Elaine Johnson or Jason Kelsey.
01:16Why would that voter in Chicago go out of his way to promote somebody that he doesn't cover?
01:25Every single team back in the day was represented by one Hall of Fame voter.
01:30So you had somebody in the conversation each and every single year that made it so that,
01:36hey, I understand that you want to put Torrey Holt, the Ram great, into the Pro Football Hall of Fame,
01:41but then you had another voter in Indianapolis saying, wait a second, Reggie Wayne is a better player.
01:47You don't have that dialogue in that meeting any longer.
01:51You're going to have select members, and they've cut it down basically to 28 with the three
01:56that are going to be representing on who goes into the Hall of Fame.
02:00Now, this is all based on what happened last year when Kraft and Belichick were that first ballot Hall of
02:05Famers.
02:06I don't know if that makes that process any better in any way, if that's going to help get people
02:12into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
02:14To me, it looks like you actually made it harder and more regionalized.
02:18Guys who had those votes in that city now, are they really going to go out of their way to
02:23vote for somebody in New York
02:25or Boston or in Los Angeles?
02:28It's going to be very interesting to see over the next couple weeks to see how this thing plays out
02:32with the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
