00:00CNN's Chris Cuomo is clarifying comments he made on Monday about his work as a cable news host.
00:05On Monday night, the New York Post published a story with the headline,
00:08coronavirus-stricken Chris Cuomo trash his CNN gig during radio show Meltdown,
00:12after Cuomo told listeners,
00:14I don't like what I do professionally. I don't think it's worth my time.
00:17On his Tuesday radio show, Cuomo clarified his comments, saying,
00:21It's not true. I never said it. I never meant it.
00:23The anchor went on to praise the way the network has treated him, saying,
00:26I have never been in a better position professionally than I am in right now.
00:30They've been so good. They've been so supportive of me in ways I could never have imagined.
00:34Cuomo announced on March 31st that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
00:39He's been keeping CNN viewers updated on his symptoms and condition.
00:42Cuomo revealed that he recently signed a long-term contract extension at CNN before the spread of
00:46the coronavirus. Still, the primetime host made clear to listeners that he is wrestling with
00:50existential questions about the role of TV news and what he can bring to the medium,
00:54particularly amid the present hostility toward the media. He said,
00:58It is frustrating to do this job in an environment where people are not interested and open.
01:03It is hard to practice journalism when people are so intent on believing what they want to believe
01:07for political advantage. He continued,
01:09I love where I am. I love what I do. That doesn't mean it isn't frustrating.
01:13I don't think it's ever mattered more than it has during this administration.
