01:53We present high above the sawdust ring poetry in motion
01:5612-year-old Mr. Nice La Graza
01:59At this performance today and at this performance only
02:12Let's welcome the boy that fear forgot
02:1515-year-old Master Mark Kilgore
02:19Mark and I have a great job
02:31Denise
02:33Hi
02:34Morning
02:35Morning
02:36Denise and I are acrobats at Circus World Museum
02:39Circus World is an old fashioned circus
02:52It's a museum with old artifacts from different circuses from all around the world just like it was in the old days
03:04It's not all cherry pie because we have a lot of chores to do before the people get there
03:15Denise, you and Mark get the colt, feed it to milk, sweep the barn out
03:19We gotta get all those mules worse before the training show
03:21Want the elephants to have a bale of hay and water the petting zoo
03:24Right now
03:34Just happen to have it right here on the deck of cards
03:53Would you hold that for me?
03:54The people who work at the Circus World Museum do work very hard
03:57They're professionals and they like what they're doing
04:00You saw how I did that
04:02That's no fair
04:03Watch it again
04:04Just like that
04:05That's as soon as somebody says I know how to do it
04:10Then you have to be one step ahead of them
04:12You do it again when you're different
04:13And you're fooled
04:14I like the glitter on the nose
04:16The glitter on the nose
04:17The glitter on the nose
04:18Who made that happen?
04:19Well, all clowns sometime in their life dabble with glitter
04:23And I didn't really like a lot of glitter
04:25I just put it on the end of my schnoz
04:27Sometime you'll catch a kid come up and go
04:29Can I touch that?
04:30And before he says touch it
04:31He's got his finger on it
04:32And it's all over
04:34It's a rough life
04:36But it's fun
04:38Yeah
04:39You get sawdust in your shoes
04:40And you can't get it out
04:41You have to stay with it
04:42We saw the ad in the newspaper that said
04:46Acrobatic school
04:48Anybody who wants to join
04:49Come down to the Circus World Museum
04:51And sign your name up
04:52Think what you're doing
05:07Up
05:09All right
05:11Okay, let's do it good today
05:13If we do it good today
05:14We'll do it in the show pretty soon
05:16Are you ready?
05:17Okay, Mark, pull her up
05:19That-a-way
05:21Now get on there good and solid
05:23Okay, got it?
05:24Yep
05:25Pull her up, Mark
05:26This is the last trick, remember
05:30This is a spectacular
05:32Remember now, you let go on this trick
05:35On the cloud swing at the top of your height
05:37And you just let it go
05:38Fly in the air
05:40If you don't, you're gonna hurt your legs
05:41Understand?
05:42Yep
05:43Are you afraid?
05:44No
05:45But do it anyway
05:47All right
05:48Now, now
05:49Oh, that's the time
05:50Let's go
05:51Okay, here we are
05:52Now
05:53That's all right
05:54Okay, that's pretty good
05:56A little too early though
05:57That's all right
05:58Now, that's the last number
05:59Now make your bow as you come out
06:00Let's see what it looks like
06:02Let's see what it looks like
06:03Come on
06:04Snap it down, up
06:05There you go
06:06Hey, all right
06:07I like it
06:08That wasn't bad
06:09I did it
06:10And then in the show you're gonna scream
06:11Did you know that?
06:12Oh, yeah
06:13You don't just smile
06:14You scream
06:15You let everybody know
06:16You pay
06:17And then they'll scream with you
06:18That's what people come to the circus for
06:20For the thrills
06:21Today at this performance
06:22We present high above the soldest ring
06:24Poetry in motion
06:25And the swing
06:26Single trapeze
06:27Let's welcome the boy that fear forgot
06:30Fifteen year old
06:31Master Mark Pilgror
06:39I don't think I have any special talents
06:50I usually just practice
06:52And after I learn the trick
06:53I do it over and over
06:55And then I can put it into my act
07:09I think acrobatics is dangerous
07:18Because you're risking a lot of the things
07:20That you wouldn't normally do every day
07:24Ladies and gentlemen
07:25Mark will now attempt the very dangerous
07:28Complete back free fall
07:30To an ankle catch
07:32Let all eyes be upon
07:34Master Mark Pilgror
07:39Master Mark Pilgror
07:41Master Mark Pilgror
07:42Master Mark Pilgror
07:44Master Mark Pilgror
07:45Master Mark Pilgror
07:46Master Mark Pilgror
08:01It is a kid's dream to be in the circus
08:03To be right under the spotlight
08:05People watching you
08:07Doing your tricks
08:08I think I'll always want to stay around the circus.
08:19Welcome to Zoom Views and Weather.
08:22Our reports come from around the country, straight from you.
08:26Each week, Zoom says you can help us to fly high.
08:30Today's reports show how Zoom viewers really do help.
08:33Jennifer?
08:34Thank you, Chris.
08:35Thanks, Beth Coteneff of Middletown, New Jersey, invented a way we can pretend to fly high.
08:41She says, what you do is take a very big, big piece of paper and cut it so it looks like a jet.
08:48Make slits in the arms and put it on.
08:50Get on a pogo stick and make it sound like an airplane.
08:53Then jump with a pogo stick.
08:56Now, thanks, Jennifer.
08:59Kate Easter-Shell lives in Saginaw, Michigan.
09:02She told us her view on a poem.
09:04A robin sits on a branch like a feather in rain, shine, or any kind of weather.
09:10Open your eyes and see him.
09:12Open your ears and hear him.
09:14Open your imagination and fly with him.
09:17A cardio?
09:18Thanks, Nell.
09:19Well, Regina Allen from East St. Louis, Illinois, feels very strongly about this issue.
09:27She writes, nobody has to teach you to fly high when you are brave and try to do new things.
09:34That is when you are flying high.
09:36Back to you, Chris.
09:37Thanks, Icardio, and thank you, Zoom viewers.
09:41There are many ways to fly high.
09:44It all depends on what you want to do.
09:46And now the weather.
09:47Ron?
09:49Zoom asks kids around the country whether they know what they would do if they could do anything in the world.
09:56Try to clean up New York.
10:00I get money and I buy all food in the world so I can be safe.
10:03Get a horse and I live on a farm.
10:06I have a whole lot of money.
10:08I think I'd write books.
10:09Be an actress.
10:10I guess I'd make everybody in the world happy.
10:13But not happy all the time because I would be born.
10:15Maybe it's like stay out in the woods for a year or something.
10:19Swim.
10:20Travel.
10:21Get married.
10:22Make peace.
10:23That's today's Zoom views and weather.
10:26Zoom flies high because of your letters and ideas.
10:30Send them to Zoom.
10:31Box 350, Boston, Mass., 02134.
10:35And don't forget your self-adjust stamped envelope.
10:40How many envelopes?
10:42Send us two.
10:43A big one for Zoom and a small one for you.
10:46Put your name on the small one, your house and your street.
10:50And your city and state.
10:51Hey, that's neat.
10:53But where's the stamp?
10:54You almost forgot.
10:56That's very important.
10:58Yeah, thanks a lot.
10:59The bigger one's easy.
11:01You know what to do.
11:02Stuff everything in it and then brush it too.
11:07To Zoom, C-double-O-M, Box, 3-5-0.
11:11Plus, it's S-O-2-1-3-4.
11:15Send it to Zoom.
11:16Lavelle, you missed school yesterday, didn't you?
11:23Nope.
11:24Didn't miss it a bit.
11:26Doom, doom, doom, do-a-zoom-doo.
11:29Do-a-zoom-doo.
11:31Do-a-zoom-doo.
11:32You can make a grocery bag kite and find most of the materials you need right at home.
11:39First, you need a grocery bag.
11:42Then, what you do is, you take a scissors and you cut off the bottom of the bag.
11:47Then, work on the side of the bag with the seam.
11:58Make a mark about one-third of the way down from the top and draw lines from the mark out
12:04to the corners of the bag.
12:15Cut the bag along these lines.
12:17Fold up the creases on both sides like this and staple them.
12:30These are the wings of the kite.
12:32Punch holes in these corners.
12:53Then, take gummed reinforcements and put one around each hole on either side.
13:11This makes the kite strong.
13:14Believe it or not, your kite is done.
13:27Now, all you have to do is string up your kite so it'll look like this.
13:33If you want a Zoom card that shows you how to make a grocery bag kite,
13:37write to Zoom and send us a self-addressed stamped envelope.
13:40Doom, doom, doom, do-a-zoom-doo.
13:44Doom, do-a-zoom-doo.
13:46Doom, doom, do-a-zoom-doo.
13:51Did you learn that your house is running down?
13:53Don't worry.
13:55I have enough wood in the attic to build a new one.
14:00We're gonna roll out the barrel and find out what's inside today.
14:06Brian Barnett from Dallas, Texas, sent us this letter.
14:10Dear Zoom, tell a friend that you can put him in such a position
14:14that he will be unable to lift his right foot from the floor,
14:18even though the foot is free.
14:19Right, Angel?
14:20What?
14:22How do you do it?
14:22That's hard.
14:24All right.
14:24All right, just come over here.
14:27All right, get in here.
14:28Put your left cheek.
14:30Stand up.
14:31Oh, no, no, no.
14:32Just stand up.
14:33All right.
14:33Put your left cheek and your left foot on the board.
14:37Lean it against.
14:38All right, like that?
14:39No.
14:39No, and your leg.
14:40And your leg.
14:40Oh, like that.
14:42No, all right, like that.
14:43Now try to lift up your right foot.
14:46Without, without.
14:46Look at your cheek against the board.
14:47Oh.
14:48Oh.
14:48I've done it here.
14:51It's impossible.
14:53Oh.
14:54It's hard.
14:56You can't hold it.
14:57You can't do that.
14:58Wow, that looks hard.
15:00I mean, he is hard.
15:02See?
15:03Wait, how about this way?
15:05All right, I can't do it this way.
15:06No.
15:07Yeah, throw your weight over it.
15:08Get up.
15:09Ew.
15:10I can't.
15:10I can't.
15:11Let me try.
15:12All right.
15:14Do your whole side.
15:15Yeah, no.
15:15All right, you try.
15:16And your leg.
15:19I know.
15:21My leg is a whole thing.
15:22No, see?
15:23This side has to be.
15:28That's a problem.
15:29Your whole weight's over here.
15:30So it's really, it's impossible.
15:32Unless you're really fast.
15:33Oh, hold it.
15:36Okay, let me try.
15:37Let me try.
15:38For ballet, it's easy.
15:39I'm going to try.
15:40Let me try to run.
15:41No, I'm not.
15:42I'm trying to run.
15:42You have to straight up.
15:43It's impossible.
15:45It's impossible.
15:45You try it, Karen.
15:46Straight up.
15:47Oh, you need to try to run.
15:48Did you?
15:48Yeah, I can't do it.
15:49Wait a minute.
15:50I can get it.
15:50Huh?
15:51It's impossible.
15:53It's hard because I don't get it.
15:56I get a chance.
15:57I think I'm going to try it.
15:59I can't do it.
16:03Cheetah litter.
16:04Hold on.
16:05No way.
16:06Yeah, I should do this.
16:07Chris is going to fix me.
16:08Chloe, don't.
16:10Take a steal.
16:12I can't.
16:13I can't.
16:13I can't.
16:13I can't.
16:13I can't.
16:13I can't.
16:14I can't.
16:14I can't.
16:14I can't.
16:14I can't.
16:14I can't.
16:15I can't.
16:15I can't.
16:15I can't get enough weight over there.
16:21All right, Lavelle.
16:22Come on, Lavelle can do it.
16:24Come on, Lavelle.
16:27No, you got to get your legs.
16:29You got to get your legs.
16:31You got to get your legs.
16:31Oh, I thought I really did it.
16:34I thought I did it.
16:36You can't.
16:37It really isn't possible.
16:38I get it.
16:39All right.
16:40Come on.
16:40And then you got to get your legs.
17:00Get your legs.
17:00Get your legs.
17:02We're going off color.
17:16The one over there looks good.
17:17Yeah, all right.
17:19Does that match it?
17:22That's about a five way.
17:23Big in value.
17:25Well, we'd have to get us a pair of spenders.
17:27Or this one.
17:28Or those.
17:28Great.
17:29Looks beautiful.
17:30Perfect with the shoes.
17:31Great.
17:32Look at the shoes.
17:40How about a wig?
17:41Yeah.
17:41We need a wig.
17:42A green hat.
17:43Green hat?
17:43We have a green hat.
17:44With the shirt.
17:45Right.
17:46Perfect.
17:46That's good.
17:47Looks great.
17:47That looks terrific.
17:51Now for the face.
17:56As everybody knows, in future meetings of the Clown Club, we will be learning about mimes
18:01and gestures, props and gags, magic, and many other facets of clowning.
18:05But today's workshop is on makeup.
18:08Now there are four basic types of makeup.
18:09There is the white face, there is the white face, the agust, which has a flesh-colored base, the tramp, the fourth is a character clown, and this is limited only by your imagination.
18:20First step in getting made up, everyone with glasses should take them off.
18:24After that, everyone should clear their hair from the face area.
18:32Everybody all set?
18:35Let's go to work.
18:36Let's go.
18:48Let's go.
18:48And don't forget on the white faces, make sure you cover your ears, your throat, and
19:12the back of your neck.
19:30What you do is you take three fingers and just pat, and you'll see that you'll be lifting
19:36up a lot, as well as making it firmer.
19:47There are two main types of powdering, one, that's the powder puff.
19:52There are some people who do use the sock.
20:22That's the most ridiculous thing I ever saw.
20:52That's it.
20:54.
21:01.
21:18Do you ever get tired of the same old face?
21:39The one out there to make a clown face.
21:41Right Zoom, Box 350, Boston, Mass, 0-2-1-3-4.
21:48It's easy to design your own clown face.
21:52We have some helpful hints on a Zoom card.
21:55If you want one, write to Zoom.
21:58And be sure to send a self-addressed stamped envelope.
22:02Write something, double-l-n, Box 350, Boston, Mass, 0-2-1-3-4.
22:16Here's how to make Zoom soup.
22:18What you need first is a Zoom zoo.
22:23You can make animals out of any kind of vegetables you want.
22:28But the most important ingredient is your imagination.
22:35Whoops.
22:37How do you like my octopus?
22:38I made it out of a tomato, string beans, and clothes for the eyes.
22:45You can make a swordfish out of an onion and clothes for the eyes.
22:51You can make a wheel out of zucchini squash and a slit for the mouth and a toothpick for
22:57the spout.
22:58You can make a snake out of carrots and clothes for the eyes.
23:03And you can also make a lion made out of potatoes, parsley for the mane, and celery stick for
23:11your tail.
23:12Now, your Zoom zoo can decorate a table for a party or a kitchen for a while.
23:19And now the soup.
23:21Boil about two and a half quarts of water in a big pot.
23:26Take out all the toothpicks in the animals.
23:28Chop up the large pieces of vegetables and put them all in the pot.
23:34You can add spaghetti, bouillon cubes, or spices if you like.
23:40Cook them all in the pot for about an hour.
23:44Then you have your Zoom soup.
23:47Hold on.
23:48Have a good meal.
23:49Have a good meal.
24:19Have a good meal.
24:26Great skies are gonna clear up.
24:29Put on a happy face.
24:32Fresh off the clouds and cheer up.
24:35Put on a happy face.
24:38Take off the gloomy mask of tragedy.
24:41It's not your style.
24:44You look so good that you'll be glad you decided
24:47To smile, take out a pleasant outlook, stick out that noble chin, wipe off the full-of-doubt look, slap on a happy grin, and spread sunshine all over the place.
25:06Just put on a happy face.
25:12Put on a happy face.
25:19Put on a happy face.
25:23And if you're feeling cross and bickerish, don't sit down wide.
25:29Think of banana splits and licorice, and you'll feel fine.
25:34I knew a girl so gloomy, she'd never laugh or sing.
25:40She wouldn't listen to me.
25:43Now she's a mean old thing.
25:47So spread sunshine all over the place.
25:51Just put on a happy face.
25:59And you'll see.
26:15Grey skies are gonna clear up
26:30Put on a happy face
26:33Brush off the clouds and cheer up
26:36Put on a happy face
26:40Spray your sunshine all over the place
26:46Just put on a happy face
27:10We need you
27:17Won't you zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom
27:19I wanna zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom
27:22I wanna give it a try
27:26We're gonna reach for the sky
27:29You can help us to fly
27:32Hey, I wanna zoom
27:34I wanna zoom, zoom
27:36I wanna zoom, I wanna zoom, zoom
27:39I wanna zoom, I wanna zoom, zoom
27:42I wanna zoom, I wanna zoom
27:45I wanna zoom, I wanna zoom
27:47I wanna zoom, I wanna zoom
27:50I wanna zoom, I wanna zoom
27:53I wanna zoom, I wanna zoom
