00:00I find it very irritating when you get the, why didn't you go to HR? Yeah. You know, do you live
00:05in this world? Do you understand the realities of the power imbalance in a given workplace?
00:09Megyn Kelly landed the first televised interview with TV reporter Lauren Sivan,
00:13who just a few days ago alleged that Harvey Weinstein masturbated in front of her after
00:18trying to kiss her. Sivan revealed on Megyn Kelly Today that after the New York Times reported
00:22claims against Weinstein for decades of alleged sexual harassment, the Hollywood producer's
00:28bizarre statement to the outlet was the final straw that inspired her to speak out. Sivan said
00:32of Weinstein, there is no remorse. There was no acknowledgement of the type of behavior that
00:36was going on. If he did this with me, who is just a stranger, who is not an actress in Hollywood
00:41and doesn't need anything from him, I can only imagine how many other women something like this
00:46has happened to. She added that she believes all of the women who've alleged harassment by Weinstein.
00:51Kelly also asked Sivan why she didn't come forward with her experience right away. According to the
00:55reporter, I didn't know what going public would do to me. She added that she also wondered if
01:00she had done something wrong to make this happen.
01:02And also there's that feeling that I'm sure so many women feel of shame.
01:07Sivan also recalled how Weinstein called her at her TV station the next day. She says the media
01:12mogul told her what a great time he had and that they should do it again, which produced a groan from
01:17the audience. While Sivan was not in a workplace environment with Weinstein, Kelly brought out two
01:22employment experts to talk about why women are reluctant to speak out or go to human resources
01:27when they experience sexual harassment at work. Kelly and the employment expert said that while
01:31accusers are barred from retaliating, in reality, people in the company can do multiple subtle things
01:37to retaliate against sexual harassment accusers.
01:39How can you expect 22-year-old women to challenge someone who has so much power, so much money, so much
01:44authority? We have to put better safeguards in place so women feel comfortable coming forward.
01:48The Weinstein Company's board of directors fired Harvey Weinstein on Sunday in light of new information
01:53about his misconduct. For the full interview with Sivan on Megyn Kelly today and more on this
01:58ongoing story, head to THR.com. For The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
