Hey Paul, welcome to Westworld.
00:05
What's up brother, thank you man.
00:06
How does it feel to bring yourself online for this show?
00:09
It feels incredibly exciting.
00:12
Yeah, it's crazy.
00:13
Were you a big fan of Westworld coming into it?
00:15
Massive fan of the show.
00:17
When I got the call to sit down with Lisa and Jonah,
00:20
I had already seen the second season twice.
00:22
The show is a complicated one, it's a messy one.
00:25
The first two seasons took place within Westworld
00:29
and, you know, when I sat down with Lisa and Jonah
00:32
to hear their sort of arc of who this guy was
00:36
and the arc of this season,
00:38
I walked out of that meeting just so,
00:41
rejuvenated, just so excited.
00:44
I mean, I wanted to scream inside of the meeting saying,
00:48
yes, my God, of course I will do it.
00:50
I just feel so blessed to have been asked to be a part
00:53
of this beautiful, brilliant show.
00:55
One of the things that's great about Westworld
00:57
is how it mashes genres together.
00:59
It's the Western, it's the sci-fi.
01:02
What do you think it is about that genre mashup that appeals to people?
01:06
I feel like people can just relate to the show.
01:10
It's a crazy, otherworldly kind of show,
01:14
but it feels like it's our reality,
01:18
our not-too-distant reality, which is crazy.
01:21
But also, you're not really sure what world you're going to see.
01:24
So, that's also very exciting.
01:28
What was it like to imagine this future Los Angeles,
01:32
to try and extrapolate a couple decades down the line
01:36
what all of this is going to look like,
01:37
interacting sort of in almost like a Blade Runner.
01:39
Yeah, I mean, it's pretty crazy.
01:41
If you see, even before I jump onto Westworld,
01:44
you could look up like the future skyline of downtown LA,
01:48
all of the buildings that have been approved,
01:50
that, you know, they're working, you know,
01:52
they've already done all their permits,
01:53
and you can see how massive these buildings are,
01:56
and what the skyline will look like,
01:58
and it's very much like what you're seeing in Westworld.
02:02
And that's just the stuff that was approved a few years ago.
02:05
You know, more and more stuff gets approved, you know,
02:08
on the weekly, but it's cool.
02:10
You know, stepping into Singapore
02:12
to shoot some of the exterior locations of downtown LA
02:16
was so surreal.
02:19
Singapore very much feels like the future.
02:22
Yes, it does.
02:23
No trash on the road.
02:25
No gum anywhere to be seen.
02:27
Anywhere to be seen.
02:28
The cleanest subway I have ever stepped foot in.
02:32
I mean, there's no trash bins.
02:35
That's how clean it is.
02:37
You carry it with you.
02:38
Yeah, you just carry it.
02:39
It's wild.
02:40
Yeah.
02:41
Tell us about Caleb.
02:42
Tell us about the character from sort of
02:44
broad strokes perspective.
02:45
What are we getting into with this guy?
02:47
Caleb is a guy with a very complicated,
02:52
somewhat messy, dark past.
02:55
He's had a lot of trauma in his life.
02:58
And throughout this season,
03:02
you kind of get to know what that is.
03:05
You sort of are introduced to it at the beginning of the show,
03:08
the first episode.
03:09
You sense that there's something going on,
03:11
but more and more layers are revealed throughout the season.
03:14
He's introduced to Dolores very early on,
03:18
towards the tail end of the episode one.
03:21
He meets her while doing a job and that he gets on the RICO app.
03:28
He does like these sort of petty crimes.
03:30
And he sees this girl in distress and comes to her aid.
03:34
And that's sort of where their friendship begins.
03:37
And then Dolores is sort of like this educational tool for Caleb.
03:42
She tries to kind of teach him what society is all about
03:47
and the control it has on its group.
03:52
Like the bigger umbrella, the bigger picture of it all.
03:55
Not everything is really as it seems.
03:58
So yeah.
03:59
Meeting Evan and getting to work with her
04:02
and getting to see her bring Dolores to life as somebody who
04:05
watched Westbrook multiple times.
04:07
Oh my god.
04:08
Dream.
04:09
Talk to me about that.
04:10
Dream come true.
04:11
I mean, it's impossible not to be a huge fan of Evan's work.
04:16
Her resume is just so incredible.
04:20
But yeah, to be able to work opposite her as Dolores was, you know,
04:25
dream come true.
04:26
Yeah.
04:27
Really, it's just I've never jumped on to a show like this.
04:33
It's like a regular that's already been proven.
04:36
And it's a huge success.
04:37
Already a huge massive built-in fan base.
04:39
You know, from the movie back in the day to this.
04:42
And then now season three.
04:44
Yeah, stepping on set and seeing these actors inside of these characters
04:50
is why I do what I do.
04:54
Yeah.
04:55
It's great.
04:56
You know, I was a new kid in school.
04:58
They welcomed me with such open arms.
05:00
And quickly, I quickly felt like I was a part of the family.
05:04
Nice.
05:05
Last one for you is in that vein.
05:08
What was it like to drop into it in the middle of its third season?
05:13
Was that challenging at all to drop into the middle of this world?
05:16
It wasn't really challenging for me.
05:19
It was just nothing but exciting.
05:21
It was hard in terms of like schedule.
05:24
And it was no joke.
05:26
Endless amounts of night shoes, no sleeping.
05:30
It was a lot.
05:32
But, you know, all the rumors are true about Westworld.
05:36
But I wouldn't change it for anything.
05:38
It's just the best.
05:39
And to be working alongside of people like Lisa and Jonah.
05:45
You know, this is the best of the best.
05:48
Yeah.
05:49
And also just watching two people so obviously in love with each other.
05:55
And they just lift each other up and help guide each other.
06:00
And it's really an amazing environment to be around.
06:04
Nice.
06:05
Yeah.
06:06
Thanks, man.
06:07
Thanks.
06:08

06:12
