00:00Hey Paul, welcome to Westworld.
00:05What's up brother, thank you man.
00:06How does it feel to bring yourself online for this show?
00:09It feels incredibly exciting.
00:12Yeah, it's crazy.
00:13Were you a big fan of Westworld coming into it?
00:15Massive fan of the show.
00:17When I got the call to sit down with Lisa and Jonah,
00:20I had already seen the second season twice.
00:22The show is a complicated one, it's a messy one.
00:25The first two seasons took place within Westworld
00:29and, you know, when I sat down with Lisa and Jonah
00:32to hear their sort of arc of who this guy was
00:36and the arc of this season,
00:38I walked out of that meeting just so,
00:41rejuvenated, just so excited.
00:44I mean, I wanted to scream inside of the meeting saying,
00:48yes, my God, of course I will do it.
00:50I just feel so blessed to have been asked to be a part
00:53of this beautiful, brilliant show.
00:55One of the things that's great about Westworld
00:57is how it mashes genres together.
00:59It's the Western, it's the sci-fi.
01:02What do you think it is about that genre mashup that appeals to people?
01:06I feel like people can just relate to the show.
01:10It's a crazy, otherworldly kind of show,
01:14but it feels like it's our reality,
01:18our not-too-distant reality, which is crazy.
01:21But also, you're not really sure what world you're going to see.
01:24So, that's also very exciting.
01:28What was it like to imagine this future Los Angeles,
01:32to try and extrapolate a couple decades down the line
01:36what all of this is going to look like,
01:37interacting sort of in almost like a Blade Runner.
01:39Yeah, I mean, it's pretty crazy.
01:41If you see, even before I jump onto Westworld,
01:44you could look up like the future skyline of downtown LA,
01:48all of the buildings that have been approved,
01:50that, you know, they're working, you know,
01:52they've already done all their permits,
01:53and you can see how massive these buildings are,
01:56and what the skyline will look like,
01:58and it's very much like what you're seeing in Westworld.
02:02And that's just the stuff that was approved a few years ago.
02:05You know, more and more stuff gets approved, you know,
02:08on the weekly, but it's cool.
02:10You know, stepping into Singapore
02:12to shoot some of the exterior locations of downtown LA
02:16was so surreal.
02:19Singapore very much feels like the future.
02:22Yes, it does.
02:23No trash on the road.
02:25No gum anywhere to be seen.
02:27Anywhere to be seen.
02:28The cleanest subway I have ever stepped foot in.
02:32I mean, there's no trash bins.
02:35That's how clean it is.
02:37You carry it with you.
02:38Yeah, you just carry it.
02:39It's wild.
02:40Yeah.
02:41Tell us about Caleb.
02:42Tell us about the character from sort of
02:44broad strokes perspective.
02:45What are we getting into with this guy?
02:47Caleb is a guy with a very complicated,
02:52somewhat messy, dark past.
02:55He's had a lot of trauma in his life.
02:58And throughout this season,
03:02you kind of get to know what that is.
03:05You sort of are introduced to it at the beginning of the show,
03:08the first episode.
03:09You sense that there's something going on,
03:11but more and more layers are revealed throughout the season.
03:14He's introduced to Dolores very early on,
03:18towards the tail end of the episode one.
03:21He meets her while doing a job and that he gets on the RICO app.
03:28He does like these sort of petty crimes.
03:30And he sees this girl in distress and comes to her aid.
03:34And that's sort of where their friendship begins.
03:37And then Dolores is sort of like this educational tool for Caleb.
03:42She tries to kind of teach him what society is all about
03:47and the control it has on its group.
03:52Like the bigger umbrella, the bigger picture of it all.
03:55Not everything is really as it seems.
03:58So yeah.
03:59Meeting Evan and getting to work with her
04:02and getting to see her bring Dolores to life as somebody who
04:05watched Westbrook multiple times.
04:07Oh my god.
04:08Dream.
04:09Talk to me about that.
04:10Dream come true.
04:11I mean, it's impossible not to be a huge fan of Evan's work.
04:16Her resume is just so incredible.
04:20But yeah, to be able to work opposite her as Dolores was, you know,
04:25dream come true.
04:26Yeah.
04:27Really, it's just I've never jumped on to a show like this.
04:33It's like a regular that's already been proven.
04:36And it's a huge success.
04:37Already a huge massive built-in fan base.
04:39You know, from the movie back in the day to this.
04:42And then now season three.
04:44Yeah, stepping on set and seeing these actors inside of these characters
04:50is why I do what I do.
04:54Yeah.
04:55It's great.
04:56You know, I was a new kid in school.
04:58They welcomed me with such open arms.
05:00And quickly, I quickly felt like I was a part of the family.
05:04Nice.
05:05Last one for you is in that vein.
05:08What was it like to drop into it in the middle of its third season?
05:13Was that challenging at all to drop into the middle of this world?
05:16It wasn't really challenging for me.
05:19It was just nothing but exciting.
05:21It was hard in terms of like schedule.
05:24And it was no joke.
05:26Endless amounts of night shoes, no sleeping.
05:30It was a lot.
05:32But, you know, all the rumors are true about Westworld.
05:36But I wouldn't change it for anything.
05:38It's just the best.
05:39And to be working alongside of people like Lisa and Jonah.
05:45You know, this is the best of the best.
05:48Yeah.
05:49And also just watching two people so obviously in love with each other.
05:55And they just lift each other up and help guide each other.
06:00And it's really an amazing environment to be around.
06:04Nice.
06:05Yeah.
06:06Thanks, man.
06:07Thanks.
06:08Thanks, man.
06:12Bye-bye.
06:13Thanks, man.
06:14Can you hear that?
06:15Well, please.
