00:14the coronavirus pandemic. The animated film will now be released on July 2, 2021, exactly a year
00:20after it was originally set to hit the big screen. Last month, Universal and Animation
00:24House Illumination revealed that the new Minions movie would not meet its early July 2020
00:29release date, saying it would be impossible to finish the sequel in time due to the closure
00:33of the Illumination McGuff studio in Paris. On Wednesday, Universal also announced several
00:48other release date moves as it continues to reshuffle its calendar due to the far-reaching
00:53impact of the coronavirus pandemic, including unprecedented theater closures and disruptions
00:58in the post-production process. Illumination's Sing sequel, which was originally set to open
01:02on July 2, 2021, Gru's New Home, is being pushed back to December 22, 2021, which in turn leaves
01:09Wicked, the long-gestating film adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name, temporarily
01:14homeless for the time being. Universal says Wicked will be re-dated at a later time. For
