00:00I just look at what they can do with their prospect capital.
00:03And I say, why can't you go be the team that gets Jaron Durant?
00:08The Red Sox want some pitching.
00:10Why couldn't you move some pitching for Jaron Durant?
00:13Would Tong for Durant straight up work?
00:15Like, that's where my brain starts to go.
00:18And I feel like Jaron Durant could be a really good fit with the New York Mets.
00:23Obviously, we've talked about Luis Robert before possibly being a fit.
00:26Durant is the better player at this point.
00:28Do you want to go get Wilier or Bray you and get one of the best defensive right fielders in baseball to handle a spacious right field at Citi Field?
00:36There are just so many different ways that they can attack this.
00:38Yeah, that's the part I'm fascinated by because I think, you know, I'm a huge fan of Carson Bench, as you know.
00:44And I guess anyone who listens to the show knows.
00:46But I think he's an above average center fielder when it all comes together.
00:50I think off the bat, he may just be average, you know, and it's just a different game.
00:56I mean, center field for the New York Mets where it's metrically, you know, I don't think you're going to grade out a leap right off the bat there as you're just still getting comfortable.
01:06But I think he is an above average center fielder ultimately.
01:09And, you know, but does that happen right away?
01:12Does that happen in the second half of the season?
01:14Does that happen in year two?
01:16Can I see a guy that's capable of holding it down?
01:18But if we're prioritizing defense right now, I can promise you that, you know, Harrison Bader is going to be better defensively than Carson Bench this coming season.
01:27So is that something that they want to prioritize in the short term?
01:31You put Bench in a corner now, I think he's closer to plus territory, right?
01:35Because he's still playing the corners.
01:36So he's still getting those reads.
01:38He's got the arm.
01:39He's got the closing speed.
01:41I think he would be great out there.
01:42So you have this flexibility, though, where it's like, OK, we can we can also have Tyrone and Bench in the aggregate.
01:48They're going to be very strong defenders there.
01:50Or we go get, you know, a clear cut center fielder and now we kick Bench over to a corner where he's going to defend even better.
01:59And now we've got this unique defensive outfield as well.
02:02And maybe that eases Bench's transition in the big leagues where, you know, if you do decide to have him break camp, which I think they should strongly consider, it's a little bit more calming, I think, when you can break camp as a corner outfielder versus the opening day center fielder potentially for the New York Mets.
02:19So a little bit less to to worry about in that regard.
02:23So I think that part of it's fascinating.
02:25And that's why I like the Bellinger shout that you give, because, like, he can plug, you know, I think several different fallouts that could happen because the Mets don't even know how this whole thing is going to shake out.
02:36So usually don't want to jump and make a move before you know how the rest of the moves go.
02:40But if you are going to do that, Bellinger makes a ton of sense, because depending on how the offseason can go, you can plug him in different spots where he's still going to be incredibly valuable for you.
02:49Which could also be corner outfield, right?
02:51It could be center corner outfield.
02:52It could be first base.
02:53So I think Bellinger makes a ton, a ton of sense.
