00:00let's talk about the biggest risers from the previous update and we got to start with one
00:06of the biggest nolan mcclain pitcher for the new york mets who came onto the scene burst onto the
00:11scene and was immediately one of the better pitchers in the national league and now he's
00:18all the way up from uh 42 to the number three spot in the top 100 nolan mcclain let's hear it
00:26oh man i mean and we're gonna you're gonna see a theme here through the the biggest risers it's
00:31you know big league success and of course that's where you recalibrate but you also don't want to
00:35overvalue big league success right so you don't want to say oh he had three four good starts so
00:41now i'm gonna override everything that i believed about him as a prospect but nolan mcclain's a
00:46really unique situation because he's a guy that you didn't get to see throw a ton in college
00:51you didn't get to see him throw a ton in in the minor leagues right in 2024 he was still
00:57a two-way player he didn't fully stop you know hitting until about midway through the season
01:04so with tommy john in college and in limited innings and then you know still doing a little
01:09bit of the two-way thing it really felt like 2025 was a year where mcclain finally had a full off
01:15season just focusing as as a pitcher finally had you know the opportunity to build up innings wise and
01:21they just continue to throw more and learn and you saw this final form of him in the big leagues where
01:26he was trending up to that and then it just really all seemed to come together for him at the highest
01:31level and you mentioned like he was absolutely dominant was a 206 era in 48 innings and he struck
01:38out 57 and walked just 16 it's the assortment of pitches too i think when he can get you with two
01:43different fastballs he can throw as nasty of a sweeper as you're gonna find i know that the numbers
01:48against it weren't weren't very good for him i think it's gonna be really good overall that you
01:52just it's ridiculous how he can spin it and then he's got a cutter he's got a curveball he's got a
01:57splitter he can attack you so many different ways and get you out in so many different ways that i think
02:02mcclain looks like a really special arm who even though he's already 24 his pitching age to me is like
02:0820 and i think he's continuing to get better and better and better as we see him throw more
02:12and next up on the biggest risers is trey savage of the toronto blue jays and you talk about
02:18balancing regular season success while projecting five six years into the future how do you balance
02:27while adding his incredible postseason success because we've already seen it with a top prospect
02:34in the 2023 world series with evan carter if we just took that and said he's the top prospect in
02:40baseball look at him now but it's got to be hard when you see how well trey savage did do in the
02:46postseason so how do you balance that but he's all the way up to number six on your top 100 well you run
02:51our socials you you did i call the reaction or did i call the reaction to a t what do you mean did you
03:00not watch the world series yes i did that's why he's seven or six now excuse me uh you're evaluating
03:06as you alluded to peter like you're evaluating for the next six years and what is it going to look
03:11like for the next six years now you savage i think what he showed in the playoffs is that his release
03:17is extremely unique we knew that already though if you look at the preseason write-up i that was
03:22something i always thought made him really really high floor type of an arm but also just just unique
03:28in general but i think what we saw on the big stage was that maybe he's not as easy to game plan
03:33for as some may have thought like okay well it's fastball splitter uh and it's a really high release
03:38just try to bring him up the dodgers couldn't do that and that backup slider that he has i think was
03:44another reason why so i think we saw that one the intangibles you know in the playoffs clearly he's he's
03:50able to handle the big moment clearly he's not really phased by that also you're able to see him
03:55kind of turn the lineup over change his looks a little bit and then you just realize how much of an
03:59outlier look he's giving you but at the same time like you can't just look at one start and say
04:05oh well well now i think the next six years are going to be different than what i thought they
04:09were going to be and i think that's important too like it was a really good postseason there was the
04:12one world series start that really really catapulted him it was a 3-5 ADRA over six games really
04:18really good 36 strikeout rate it was an amazing postseason but i don't think you can just totally
04:23override your priors on a guy and say oh he should be the number one prospect
04:28i i think if if connor griffin was offered for trey savage we're going to get to the top 10
04:33i'd imagine i maybe the blue it's where the blue jays are at maybe they don't do it but i'd imagine
04:38that almost every single team saying yes to that they're taking connor griffin in two seconds
