00:00All right, let's start with the Yankees.
00:02Boy, I'll tell you, man, Judge not having a good WBC 24.
00:06He didn't have a really good World Series.
00:09I mean, how he goes obviously is how this Yankee team goes.
00:13Do you think they're good enough defensively?
00:15And do you think they're good enough in the starting pitching or the bullpen
00:19to make this thing happen in the American League East?
00:21Because, look, Bo Bichette obviously is no longer there in Toronto.
00:25The Orioles have made some moves when it comes to adding players
00:28to their young team.
00:29And also the Red Sox may be looking for some more power.
00:32Where do the Yankees fit in the American League East?
00:35Listen, the American League East is back to being the American League beast, right?
00:38All those teams you mentioned there, they're all good teams here.
00:41Boston, you're right.
00:42They lost Bregman, didn't replace that.
00:44I think they'll do it during the season.
00:45You can find power during the season.
00:46They'll make that move here.
00:47And they have the farmers who are going to go out and get anybody they want here.
00:50Love what Baltimore did.
00:52Love what the Orioles did during the offseason.
00:54Do I put them there with the Yankees, Sox, and Jays?
00:57No, but they may be one tier down.
00:59And another team, if they want to go out and get somebody, they have the prospect to do it.
01:03And then they go, she'll get to the Toronto Blue Jays.
01:05A lot of problems in their rotation right now.
01:07A lot of injuries there.
01:08Bieber, Yosevic, well, Berrios.
01:10We'll see how they survive that if the season rolls on here.
01:13The problem for the Jays and the Yankees is likely to be the bullpen.
01:17I think both teams will survive the starting pitching injuries, right?
01:20The Yankees will get Rodon back in about a month, Cole back in two months,
01:23and they got Rodriguez and Lorang down in the minor leagues.
01:25They need reinforcements there.
01:27But the bullpen, especially for the Yankees, more the middle part.
01:31I think Bednar will be fine.
01:33Doval will be okay with that middle part, the seventh inning.
01:35Sixth, seventh inning could be a problem for the Yankees there.
01:37We'll see how that rolls up.
01:39The Blue Jays probably need help all over the place.
01:41Anybody really trust Hoffman?
01:43No.
01:43They probably should have addressed that during the offseason here.
01:45They didn't.
01:46They're going to need to make a major upgrade in that bullpen eventually.
01:49But all those teams, Yankees, Jays, Sox, I wouldn't be surprised
01:53at any of the moment division here.
01:54They're all good teams.
01:57You know, George, I got to ask you about Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman.
02:01I mean, if the boss were alive today,
02:03these guys would have been blown out five years ago.
02:05I mean, you got a losing record for Aaron Boone in the postseason.
02:10Brian Cashman and the Yankees really haven't done anything
02:13in about eight years right now.
02:15I mean, you tell me.
02:16I mean, when do we get to a position where it's not just about hanging
02:20American League East flags.
02:22It's about putting World Series flags up at Yankee Stadium,
02:25or at least I thought.
02:27I mean, has the standard dropped in New York?
02:31I mean, you hate to say it, but Hal is not George.
02:35All right, you say it, George.
02:36Listen, everybody would have been fired.
02:38Listen, I'm around with George at the 70s, right,
02:40when it was the Bronx Zoo with Jackson, Munson, and Billy Martin,
02:44and all that, that way, you know, if we had social media then, my God.
02:48All right, but that has changed with the Yankees.
02:50Hal wants to make money.
02:51He wants to win, but it's not his first priority.
02:54Making money is the first priority.
02:56We've all seen the stats from last year.
02:58The Yankees spend about half of their revenue on players,
03:01only about half.
03:02They may spend a lot more than all the teams.
03:04They're number two and number three in payroll,
03:06but only half their money on payroll.
03:07All the teams may spend 80%.
03:08You know, the Yankees want to make money here,
03:10but he wants to win as well.
03:13Well, I'm not a Boone fan, Dan.
03:14I don't hate the man.
03:15I mean, he's a nice guy.
03:16He's funny.
03:17He's got a sense of humor.
03:17Love when he gets thrown out of games.
03:19I kind of enjoy that.
03:20But he's not that classic manager.
03:23He's not going to outmanage you.
03:24He's not.
03:25He is there to control the media because he's very good at
03:28and because he's good with the players.
03:29He's not there for strategizing.
03:31All right, that's the analytics department.
03:33They'll take care of that.
03:34So I don't think – you can all say Boone should be fired.
03:37Cashman is just going to hire the next yes man.
03:39I like Cashman who's the one who needs to go if you really want to make
03:42big change with the Yankees.
03:43And I'm not advocating for that, by the way.
03:45But I'm saying if you're a Yankee fan, you're going to want Boone to
03:47be fired all you want.
03:48Even if they do it, he's just going to hire the next yes man.
03:50You won't be happy with him either.
03:51You need Cashman to go and you need an overall change,
03:54which might come if the Yankees eventually face plant.
03:57But I don't see the Yankees face planting this year,
03:58not without a lot of injuries.
04:00You mentioned before, Judge would probably have to go down for a
04:03significant portion of the season for the Yankees season to be toast.
04:06We're going to go down for 5 minutes.
04:06I'm going to have to go up next to the Yankee fan sequence.
04:06Let's go down for 10 minutes.
04:06I'm going to have to go down.
