00:04That's lepticon green.
00:06Love the colour.
00:08But, yeah, it's not. It's too bright.
00:11The intensity at the moment, so close to the end,
00:15is ridiculous.
00:18Well, if he doesn't do it on Thursday, it won't be done in time.
00:21He's pushing it already.
00:23I'm just having to leave it all in John's hands.
00:27I don't know. It just couldn't be worse timing, really.
00:32We'll do it. It'll be fine.
00:35We'll get all set.
00:38I think it's pretty touch and go
00:40as to whether everything will be finished
00:42for the housewarming party.
00:44It's too close to call.
00:49The house is sort of under control.
00:53Nothing to panic about.
00:54That wall is giving us a lot of grey hairs.
00:56We're going to have this lovely party.
00:58Just behind us is going to be this grey, ugly beast.
01:02Don't wind me up.
01:04In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have called her.
01:06The guitarist, una guitarista.
01:09I can't even say the bloody basics.
01:11How am I going to get a band?
01:12We've only got 24 hours till our housewarming party,
01:16so there's still quite a lot to do inside.
01:18I'd probably well have to pull it all nighter
01:20to get it all ready for tomorrow.
01:21So I've got that one and I've got that one,
01:23but then the little ones haven't arrived.
01:27Oh, no.
01:29Oh, no, no.
01:30We're exhausted, but we're ready to party.
01:34It's actually making me emotional.
01:36On the Costa del Sol in Estepona, Jasmine and John are just two days away
01:49from hosting a housewarming party for friends and family.
01:52However, many sections of the house, including the garden,
01:57need finishing off without Jasmine able to oversee the work
02:02as she's filming in Portugal.
02:04I am away for a few days with work and feeling a bit guilty,
02:10to be honest, because I've left John with the kids off school,
02:14with the renovation coming down to the wire.
02:17I've tried to organise as much as I can before I left,
02:19but still I'm, yeah, just worrying about things
02:24and feeling bad for leaving him to deal with it all single-handedly.
02:31It feels like quite a long time since I've been left home alone.
02:35Jazz has left me quite a big list of things that need to be finished.
02:39I mean, the headlines are the garden is nowhere near finished,
02:41there's no grass on the floor,
02:43the wall in the back garden is nowhere near finished,
02:46the living room is not finished.
02:49Basically, perfect time for Jazz to be away.
02:52The party itself also needs some attention.
02:54We need to organise food, drinks,
02:56maybe a surprise and some entertainment.
02:58So, yeah, not only do we have the renovation to do while Jazz is away,
03:02we also have to make sure the party can happen in the first place.
03:07John's biggest challenge could be the garden wall.
03:10It's the last piece of major work on the renovation
03:13and it's a lengthy process for lead plasterer, Matt.
03:17Yeah, I'm rounding in.
03:19I'm trying to straighten out the wall.
03:22And as soon as I've finished straightening it out,
03:26then we put a final coat.
03:28It's white, it's a very fine aggregate.
03:31It has limen in, it's breathable and waterproof as well.
03:35And that'll be the finished coat on it then,
03:37just painted and then that's it.
03:38Matt can't apply the final coat until tomorrow
03:41once the render is dry,
03:43which is why there's a danger of missing the party deadline.
03:47I'm about as confident as winning the lottery.
03:50We're trying.
03:54We're trying.
03:56Trying our best.
03:57That's all we can do.
03:58That wall is giving us a lot of grey hairs.
04:00Jazz and I have huge concerns that we're going to have this lovely party.
04:04Just behind us or to our left is going to be this sort of grey, ugly beast.
04:09Until the wall is completed, the garden also can't be finished.
04:14The site has to be clear of building work before the turf that's just arrived can be laid.
04:19Yeah or something.
04:20It's been on the truck.
04:21Yeah or not.
04:22Yeah, once we get it over there we'll give it a good water.
04:26We're wrestling turf.
04:32I'd say of all the things we've ordered,
04:36turf is the one thing you don't want to arrive early in 35 degree heat.
04:40You alright?
04:41Yeah.
04:42You got me as well though.
04:43Oh sorry.
04:44And so now we've all just hoofed the turf from the very hot sunny front of the house to the only naturally shady patch around the back of the house.
04:56I hope that we can get that turf down.
05:06If not I fear that we've just wasted a pallet full of turf.
05:11It's a human chain of turf.
05:14I just need to remember to hose and water the turf along with the plants otherwise Jazz is going to come back and we'll have dead turf and dead plants.
05:22Which is a distinct possibility.
05:23I'm not very green fingered.
05:25Anyway, we've now got turf sitting around waiting to be laid.
05:31Meanwhile in the lounge the marble floor that now extends through to the kitchen is being polished.
05:38Hola.
05:40Bien bien.
05:43Unless you look really closely you can barely see where the old tiles end and the new ones start.
05:49I mean it looks amazing.
05:52The old floor I am guessing was at least 15 possibly 20 years old.
05:59And the new floor has just gone down.
06:00It blends seamlessly.
06:02I was skeptical.
06:03I stand very corrected.
06:04John can now green light bringing in the first piece of furniture.
06:09The new sofa.
06:12Getting furniture like the sofa sort of inter situ in the living room.
06:16You feel like this is it.
06:18We are definitely on the downhill straight.
06:24Furniture is going into place.
06:25The floor has been polished.
06:27Let's get this done.
06:28Outside in the garden the rendering of the wall is gathering pace allowing John to turn his attention to another important task.
06:40A singer.
06:42Un cantante.
06:43Jasmine hasn't a clue that he's secretly planning live entertainment for the party.
06:49A band with traditional music.
06:52I need to knuckle down with my Spanish to try and organize something for this surprise because you know entertainment, partying, music, it's not an element of my limited Spanish vocabulary that I know anything about.
07:06So John's turning to a language app for help.
07:09A guitarist.
07:10A guitarist.
07:11A guitarist.
07:12A guitarist.
07:13No.
07:14A guitarist.
07:15No.
07:16A guitarist.
07:17No, bloody hell.
07:18I've been winging everything since we got to Spain.
07:21I'd say I've bumbled through my Spanish classes.
07:24Much like this entire renovation.
07:26I should have been practicing about six months ago.
07:34But life and renovation and family just slightly gone in the way.
07:39Muchos gracias por su ayuda.
07:43I can't even say the bloody basics.
07:44How am I going to get a band?
07:47But there's no more time for dress rehearsals.
07:50So John has little choice but to take the plunge.
07:53The plunge.
07:54Buenas tardes.
07:55Mi amo John.
07:56Esta disponible para dancing.
07:57Un fiesta en el sábado.
07:58Oh, lo siento.
07:59Okay, no pasa nada.
08:00But I did understand that she wasn't available on Saturday.
08:01I think that's the key.
08:02Hola, hablo con Julio.
08:03Esta disponible para tocar en un fiesta el sábado.
08:06Oh, lo siento.
08:07Okay, no pasa nada.
08:08But I did understand that she wasn't available on Saturday.
08:11I think that's the key.
08:12Hola, hablo con Julio.
08:13Esta disponible para tocar en un fiesta el sábado.
08:22Cuanto es?
08:23Para todo.
08:24Perfecto.
08:25Tremendo un mensaje con el details de mi casa.
08:35Perfecto.
08:36Gracias.
08:37Let's see if Julio turns up on Saturday.
08:44I might have just booked a juggler for next Thursday, but, you know, hey-ho.
08:52It's another whole day before Jasmine returns, but John wants to keep her in the loop.
08:58I know Jazz will be secretly wondering what's going on back here while she works in Portugal,
09:04so I'm going to try and catch her when she's not working and give her a quick phone call.
09:10Hello.
09:11Hi.
09:12How's work?
09:13It's fine.
09:14We're just waiting for something and then we can carry on filming, so I might not have much time.
09:18I know you're working hard, but I actually think getting out of the house for a few days has probably done you some good.
09:25Yeah, before I have a complete meltdown and start shouting at everyone.
09:29How are the kids, by the way?
09:31Are they missing me?
09:33I'm not sure they've noticed you've gone.
09:35Now, erm...
09:37Rude.
09:38So, yeah, the house is sort of under control.
09:43The electrician's here tomorrow and I think he'll be here for most of the day, but, you know, fingers crossed the light's arrived,
09:48he can fit those on the exterior wall, he can finish some light fittings that we need around the house.
09:53So, because we're behind on the wall, we've currently got lots of turf rolled up, drying out.
09:59Well, I am watering it, obviously, but I'm drying under the trees, so it'll be fine, don't worry.
10:04Like, it's just annoying, isn't it, with the best one in the world.
10:06Things just... go round.
10:10When you've got, like, the best laid plans.
10:12But when you've got a schedule this tight, you know...
10:14I thought I just saw it guys sleeping out.
10:16Yeah.
10:17Right, I've got to go.
10:18I'll call you when I finish work.
10:19Nothing to panic about.
10:21You did want the front room cupboards purple, didn't you?
10:24Don't wind me up.
10:26Don't wind me up.
10:28Speak to you later.
10:29Bye, I love you, bye.
10:30Bye.
10:31I'm not entirely sure if that phone call has set Jaz's mind at rest or given her more to worry about.
10:39In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have called her.
10:41I bet it's fine.
10:42Everything is going well here.
10:44I'll just be going a bit better when she's back to help.
10:46The renovation team now have only one working day before Jasmine and John's housewarming party to finish the job.
11:13So head builder Dominic is rallying the troops for one final push.
11:19The priority today is the garden wall.
11:22Cappuccinoing right across it.
11:25Massive amount of work in one day, 40 degrees.
11:29We're running out of time, but we'll get there.
11:32You can feel it start dragging because it's wet.
11:38You can see a couple of dents in there.
11:41And then it's just filled in.
11:44It gets us smoother.
11:48If you see a little blemish, you just rub it in, don't you?
11:50Exactly, yeah.
11:54With Jasmine expected home later in the day, John's checking on progress.
11:59Oh, yes.
12:02Looking good.
12:04Looking amazing, in fact.
12:06Looks like a totally different wall.
12:09Hopefully it's done in time to get the turf on this afternoon.
12:14Next, John is tackling another important task, picking up some essential supplies for the housewarming.
12:20The house isn't finished and we're not ready for the party.
12:23But I thought it was the perfect time to leave the house again and go for a little shop.
12:33A few weeks ago, the family discovered a local vegan market and were so impressed,
12:38they've booked the same caterers, leaving John responsible only for snacks and refreshments.
12:44Right.
12:48I've done well, I've made a list.
12:49It's more than I normally do.
12:51I mean, basically it's drinks.
12:52Drinks and drinks.
12:53I want a young, fruity, easy-drinking red for Tinto de Valano.
13:05Table wine mixed with soda is a popular cold drink in Spain.
13:13I'm easily sidetracked when it comes to wine shopping or any shopping in general.
13:18I'm not sure many people will drink white wine, but a white Rioja for anyone that does.
13:24I probably need some Prosecco or some Cava.
13:27Right, come on.
13:28Make a decision.
13:30Buy some Cava and get to the beer.
13:43Ha-ha, beer.
13:45And it's on offer.
13:49I feel like I'm being the least decisive I've been in quite a while.
13:56I feel like Jaz and I are at the end of a very long few months.
14:00I mean, it's great to look what we've got at the end of it, but it doesn't take away from the fact
14:04we're exhausted, but we're ready to party.
14:09Mission accomplished.
14:11A trolley full of refreshments, drinks, crisps and olives.
14:15On the way home, John is making a stop off at a vegan bakery where earlier in the year, Joy and Albion had a hands-on lesson.
14:25Oh, wow!
14:26Yeah.
14:28Gabriella!
14:30After that, as another party surprise for Jasmine, John knows exactly what to order.
14:37Cinnamon rolls like you did with the kids.
14:39Mm-hmm.
14:41And a chocolate cake.
14:42And a chocolate cake.
14:43And a chocolate cake.
14:44And also, you're obviously very welcome to come to the party.
14:46Aw, thank you very much for the invitation.
14:49Hopefully, the house will be finished.
14:51The way we're going, there might be some wet paint on the walls and stuff like that, but it'll be fine.
14:56Lovely. Can't wait to see it.
14:58Thank you so much.
14:59Thank you very much.
15:00We'll see you on Saturday.
15:01Perfect. Bye.
15:02Bye.
15:03There's another box ticked off my to-do list for the party.
15:06Cakes organised.
15:08We need to sort out everything else.
15:09And not to mention my enormous to-do list for the house.
15:15John's top priority has been the garden wall and turfing the area around the pool.
15:20In the time he's been away on his shopping expedition, that's all been done and dusted.
15:30While inside, Martin the electrician has been fitting the last of the plug sockets.
15:38Which means a momentous milestone has been reached, as the builders and the team are now officially finished on the renovation.
15:46Come on, Quinn. Here you go.
15:47Ah, yeah. Top one.
15:51Cheers, dude.
15:53Thanks so much. Honestly, thank you.
15:54Thank you for all your work.
15:56Cheers, mate.
15:57Honestly, thank you for everything.
15:58No worries, mate.
15:59Especially this week. Everyone's been busting their gut.
16:01Dom, last but not least.
16:02If these were cold, mate, I'd drink them all night.
16:04Wow.
16:05Literally, I said, if they were cold, I would have drunk them all night.
16:07You wouldn't have gone for you, would you?
16:10Oh, we can do like a tiered one, like a tiered one.
16:13Oh, my God. It's not a football team.
16:14Jasmine has returned from Portugal in the nick of time to join in on a team photo.
16:21Ready?
16:22Back up.
16:26Good work, good work.
16:28Thanks, everyone.
16:30Cheers, chaps.
16:31After the farewells, Jasmine is getting stuck into the remaining jobs she needs to do around the house.
16:43I think I'll have to go away more often because I can't believe the amount that they've managed to get done in such a short space of time.
16:48So much has changed. The floor's been polished. The wall's been finished. The grass is down. That's what happens when you put the pressure on.
17:01And we've only got 24 hours till our housewarming party. So there's still quite a lot to do inside.
17:08You know, putting all the little finishing touches everywhere.
17:11So hopefully I won't have to pull an all nighter, but I don't know.
17:15I probably will have to pull an all nighter to get it all ready for tomorrow.
17:18Since the lounge is the first room guests will see when they walk in the front door, Jasmine's paying it particular attention.
17:27I need to use my internal spirit level.
17:31Straight, yeah?
17:35What do we do about this wall? We haven't really...
17:38Well, these are two of the items that were meant to go on the wall.
17:41They are supposed to be part of a gallery wall with some other smaller prints and a mirror and, you know, a plate and lots of things.
17:50But some of the other...
17:51I sort of know what you mean.
17:52Some of the other stuff hasn't arrived, so I'm not sure how to approach it because, look, it's supposed to look like this.
17:58We'll find some other ones next time.
18:01Oh, yeah, that's nice. Really nice.
18:04So I've got that one and I've got that one and I've got that one, but then the little ones haven't arrived.
18:09Also, I feel like if this was the UK, we'd go up in the loft and get, like, some bits and make it all work.
18:16But here we're kind of...
18:17Which is that an idea?
18:18We'll go back to the UK tonight.
18:19What about those Ingella prints?
18:21You know the panther and the tiger?
18:25And the kids' bedrooms?
18:26The cheetah.
18:27They would look super nice in here.
18:32Oh, no!
18:34What was this?
18:39It's now the evening before Jasmine and John's housewarming guests arrive and parts of the house are still in an unfinished state.
18:59In the main bedroom, Jasmine's finding a home for some last-minute deliveries.
19:03You could also go in the living room, but I think they'll be fine.
19:08While John's also adding some finishing touches.
19:14Outside in the garden, an extra pair of helping hands have arrived to sort out the borders.
19:19I love my neighbours.
19:22I'm so lucky to have such nice neighbours.
19:26Manuel is doing the garden for us.
19:29He's a gardener.
19:31And it's looking absolutely fantastic.
19:34And he's putting all these beautiful plants in.
19:39Oh, it's a delivery.
19:41Let's see what it is.
19:43I've been waiting for a delivery of some garden furniture.
19:48And they told me it would arrive.
19:50And it's eight o'clock at night.
19:52And it's just arrived.
19:54Literally the night before the housewarming party.
19:57So, someone is looking down on me.
19:59Oh, just in time for all our visitors tomorrow.
20:17We'll have something for them to sit on.
20:18I'm actually so happy with the garden.
20:35It's actually making me emotional.
20:38Because...
20:40Because it's been through my lovely neighbours
20:44who've helped with all the plants and all the actual gardening.
20:49And my lovely friends who have given me some of these beautiful plates
20:55that are like traditional Andalusian pottery.
20:59And they look stunning on the walls.
21:03And the plants look stunning.
21:07And it's even more special because it's all been made possible
21:11from friends, new friends that we've made since coming to Spain.
21:26The renovation is now officially over.
21:32Nine months on from when Jasmine and John bought this property in Estepona.
21:37This is it, kids.
21:40What do you think?
21:42Mmm.
21:44What's your favourite bit so far, Albs?
21:46The dream part.
21:48Don't you like the natural exposed brick?
21:54The front of the house.
21:56There's still things to be done out there.
21:58The gates haven't arrived.
22:00We haven't had the time to do the patio.
22:02But compared to when we first viewed it.
22:08It's all painted.
22:10We've got a driveway.
22:12It's way better.
22:15But as well as triumphs, they've also faced real challenges.
22:19The blood test results suggest I've had a mild heart attack.
22:23With John recovering from this and a double fracture to his leg,
22:27there was one person to whom Jasmine naturally turned.
22:33How traumatising.
22:35To have someone so selfless.
22:38My mum is just a lifesaver.
22:41Thanks you for coming.
22:43So, as the day of the housewarming party arrives.
22:48Mama!
22:50Before anyone else sets foot inside.
22:52Thanks so much for coming all this way.
22:54Jasmine is giving her mum a VIP tour.
22:58Are you ready?
23:00Ready. As ready as I'll ever be.
23:04There used to be a dividing wall between the lounge and kitchen.
23:08What do you reckon, kids?
23:11It smells bad.
23:13It's tiny.
23:15Tiny?
23:17It's not that small, is it?
23:20Ta-da!
23:22What do you think of this?
23:24Wow!
23:25Very nice.
23:35So much more spacious.
23:39That wall is gone, that wall is gone.
23:42Yeah, this big block in the corner here.
23:44Remember where there was a cupboard and there was a big column behind it.
23:47It feels so much bigger, doesn't it?
23:48It does.
23:50I think I want to knock my walls down.
23:52The thing that I love about the new layout is you walk through the front door and you can see all the way through straight away.
24:03The sliding doors are not the only feature that have made a huge difference to the main living space.
24:09How do you like the kitchen?
24:11It's fantastic!
24:13The work tops were fitted and the units plumbed in last week, so it's the first time Jasmine's been able to show it all off fully finished.
24:27It's beautiful.
24:30I'm really happy with it.
24:33I love the kitchen.
24:36I think the colour is amazing and we've got so much space and so much storage.
24:42More than we need really.
24:44Before the kitchen was kind of a completely separate room and it felt quite dark and dingy.
24:49But now it feels much more light and open.
24:54As well as the new layout, the other structural alteration to the ground floor has been the creation of access from the lounge to the main outside space.
25:03Look down to this floor, mum.
25:07We've got stairs going down here now.
25:10What do you think?
25:11Yes, very nice.
25:13I've got to say one highlight for me that stands out was the stairs from the balcony.
25:19I knew you'd mentioned the stairs.
25:22It's just, hasn't it just been transformational to how we're able to use the garden, so for me I love that, that was my idea.
25:31What do you think then, mumma?
25:35Oh, wow, it's just amazing.
25:45Yeah, the pool looks lovely.
25:48Nice and clear and beautifully framed, lovely greenery.
25:52So do you like the plants, mum?
25:54The bougainvillea, nice.
25:56Yeah, a couple of bougainvilleas and my neighbour next door has helped so much with the garden.
26:00Really?
26:01Yeah.
26:02Beautiful wall.
26:08That wasn't there before.
26:09The whole wall, yeah.
26:11That wall literally has been finished in the last four years.
26:14That was a race against time, wasn't it?
26:16That's nice.
26:17The wall makes the garden, improves it so much more.
26:20It's great.
26:21The fact that we've not been able to use the pool, we've not been able to use the garden for most of this whole renovation project has made me feel really like we've been missing out, especially for the kids.
26:32So having that come together now and looking so beautiful makes me very happy.
26:39Whilst the garden and lounge kitchen were only finished yesterday, the children's bedrooms on the first floor were completed during phase one of the build.
26:47It's so cool.
26:48But Jasmine had a second potentially tough critic to please too.
27:08Can I go in?
27:09Let's go in then.
27:10I can't wait to see what you think.
27:11Oh my God.
27:12What do you think?
27:13It's so cool.
27:15Joy also has the added bonus of her own private terrace.
27:38That terrace, when we first came here to have a look around, the first thing that hit you was the smell.
27:44Look at this.
27:45Joy's gone then.
27:46There was a dilapidated hot tub that was full of green slime and mosquito lava.
27:58It was hideous.
27:59It made me gag.
28:00Is he actually throwing up?
28:01I don't know.
28:02I mean it is quite gross.
28:03As her mum loved the garden, Jasmine wants to show her this outside space too.
28:13Have you seen out here before?
28:14Oh.
28:15Was it like this?
28:16Oh.
28:17Wow.
28:18No.
28:19It's like a resort.
28:20Yeah.
28:21Imagine being an 11-year-old going on teenager.
28:34You can bring your mates out here in the evenings.
28:36Beautiful.
28:37This is one of the easy jobs.
28:40Very nice.
28:41Very nice.
28:42Absolutely gorgeous.
28:43Your little granddaughter.
28:45She's a very lucky girl.
28:47Also on the first floor is the family bathroom, which Jasmine and John tackled at the same
28:54time as the bedrooms.
28:56And that's the bathroom with the very damp ceiling.
29:03What are you doing?
29:04You can see how damp it is.
29:07That went in my mouth.
29:12I think it's like 10 years of neglect.
29:15Neglect.
29:16Neglect.
29:25Great in here now, isn't it?
29:27Finally.
29:28What's your favourite bit?
29:29Those tiles.
29:32And the toothbrush timer.
29:34What's your favourite?
29:35I don't know.
29:36I quite like the massive sink and the wooden unit.
29:39That is beautiful.
29:40I think our compass really when renovating this house has been to stay true to the style
29:50of the house and also to stick with things that we love ourselves.
29:55So it's a bit of a mish-mash in places, isn't it?
29:58It's a blend.
29:59Yep.
30:00But I think the blend works.
30:01Yeah, me too.
30:02I'm pleased with the blend.
30:05Right.
30:06This is a real hot spot up here.
30:09Oh!
30:14It's not bad, is it, out here?
30:15I mean, you could make so much more of it.
30:17Be careful, because it's full of dirty water.
30:20Oh!
30:21God!
30:31It's a really nice space.
30:33This table.
30:34I like that table.
30:35Yeah, there's a funny story about that, actually.
30:38Because it used to be a glass top table.
30:42It wouldn't go up the stairs.
30:44It wouldn't come up the side.
30:46So, in the end, we made that table top out of wood.
30:51And then all the offcuts made that planter over there.
30:53That's nice.
30:54Yeah.
30:55I like that planter very much.
30:56That's really good.
30:57You have the fairy lights and the festoons.
31:01It's a good spot for sunbathing.
31:02It's a lovely spot for a sundowner.
31:05John will be hiding up here in the winter, won't you, probably?
31:08And this will be my office in the winter.
31:10Put my laptop on that table.
31:12It's really lovely up here.
31:14Well done, both of you.
31:16The house has changed so much since I saw it first.
31:26It just looks amazing, like a different house.
31:31I am so proud of Jasmine and John.
31:34They work so hard.
31:35They deserve to have a nice place.
31:38It almost brings me to tears to think that Jasmine grew up in a rented home in Hackney
31:46and now she's got a place in the sun.
32:07On the Costa del Sol, the vegan food truck has just parked up and chefs Philip and Berta are preparing the evening's menu.
32:16The party's about to get started and Jasmine and John can finally celebrate.
32:22I'm feeling a bit emotional, very relieved, really, really thrilled with the outcome.
32:31I mean, everything's been a struggle but everything's come together in the end.
32:34Last night I was like, wow, this house is amazing and we're very lucky.
32:39It was a huge project.
32:42Yeah, when we first looked around this house, it was a house that had no longer been loved.
32:47And now we've taken a house that's in the perfect location for us and made it perfect for us.
32:52You know, we've given it a heart again. We've given it a soul again.
32:58Someone who's been instrumental in helping Jasmine and John realise their vision for their new home is interior designer Laura.
33:06Hello. Oh, welcome back.
33:11As well as the living room with its now completed gallery wall, she's also had a big hand in the makeover of some other rooms, such as the main bedroom.
33:19So Jasmine's keen to get her opinion.
33:23Bit of a transformation in here.
33:30Yes, absolutely. What a tranquil room.
33:33It's so calming and peaceful. I love the textures and the light materials. Oh, wow.
33:40It was only actually last night that I finished this room.
33:46Every good renovation has a little bit of a rush to the finish line.
33:51In the end, we upcycled the old bed.
33:53Yeah, well, there you go. No, it looks great.
33:55All the colours really complement each other and pull it all together. So it looks fabulous.
34:01There was a lot more that I would have liked to have done in there.
34:04But with time and budget constraints, it became less of a priority for us.
34:13And I think that's an indicator really of how much we care about other people, our kids, our visitors, everyone else, because we put our own bedroom as the bottom of the priorities.
34:26But I think it's turned out beautifully.
34:30Another one of Laura's designs was for the family entertainment room in the basement.
34:37Are you ready for this?
34:39Oh, wow, wow, wow.
34:42Wow.
34:47This is fantastic.
34:50It's come together really nicely, hasn't it?
34:52It has. What a transformation.
34:54I mean, I wasn't convinced, you know, as much as John was about putting so much work into this basement.
35:02But, well, I think it speaks for itself, doesn't it?
35:04Yeah, it does.
35:05And I bet you this becomes one of the most hard working rooms in the house.
35:08I'm sure it will.
35:09And this is the area that everyone gets really surprised by.
35:12Yeah.
35:13You show them around the house, they think they've seen it all.
35:15And then you come down here and it's like, pow!
35:17Exactly.
35:18There's another space which wasn't one of your designs, but it's a little bit of a surprise through there.
35:24This was the garage.
35:26Now, look.
35:28When the renovation began, this part of the basement was half-built and open to the elements.
35:37Have a look at this.
35:39Yeah.
35:40Oh, again, what a transformation.
35:50The cat's the one who uses it the most.
35:53I'm going to go in the roar.
35:54I mean, this is my excuse for not using the roaring machine as much because she's always there.
35:59You don't want to kick her off.
36:00I just think it's great.
36:01It's like the basement is the space that keeps on giving, doesn't it?
36:05I know!
36:07There's a bathroom down here as well now.
36:10So that would be used, you know, if you're in the basement or if you're in the garden or if you're in the gym.
36:15Perfect and practical.
36:16Mm-hmm.
36:17Well, I'm so pleased you could make it.
36:20I am so excited.
36:21Thank you for having me back to see the transformation.
36:24It's just delightful to actually get to see the family enjoy the space.
36:31Renovations are stressful and it's just so wonderful to see them all smiling and happy and enjoying it.
36:38Finally.
36:43I think we're very proud of what we've achieved, right?
36:46I mean, I also think we should be proud of some of the circumstances with which we've achieved.
36:52I mean, that's what makes me more proud.
36:55Exactly.
36:56Against all odds, we've still managed to create an amazing home.
37:03I would definitely do it again.
37:05I can't say that I've enjoyed the process of the renovation, but I definitely feel like it was the right choice for us to buy this house.
37:15It was like destiny.
37:18Fate or otherwise, none of it could have happened without Dominic, son Quinn and all of the builders.
37:25You just can't get rid of us.
37:27Good boy, come on.
37:30It's nice to do a personal house.
37:32It has its problems because they're living there as well, but you get to know them.
37:36And to go to a party at the end, it's a topping out party, isn't it? It looks lovely.
37:39I can say it.
37:42Yay!
37:43Ah!
37:44Look!
37:45Hello!
37:46Hello!
37:47Hello!
37:48Hello!
37:49Hello!
37:50Hello!
37:51Hello!
37:52Hello!
37:53Hello!
37:54Hello!
37:55Hello!
37:56Hello!
37:57Hello!
37:58Hello!
37:59Hello!
38:00Hello!
38:01Hello!
38:02It's a bit of a transformation, isn't it?
38:04Amazing!
38:05Fantastic!
38:06Fantastic!
38:08Another team who played a key role in the renovation are kitchen designer Rebecca and her assistant Carmen.
38:15No, seriously, I love the way you've got all these different areas.
38:18Yeah.
38:19Yeah.
38:20And the little detail, the pane.
38:21That's right.
38:22Yeah.
38:23The plates.
38:24Yeah.
38:25And you guys have been so helpful.
38:26Thank you so much.
38:27We've really loved it.
38:28We've enjoyed it.
38:29Yeah.
38:30It's been a pleasure, actually.
38:31It's absolutely wonderful being here today and seeing everything finished and the whole house has come together,
38:37the kitchen installed and the way they beautifully decorated it.
38:41We don't actually often get to see the kitchen when there are people in the house and enjoying it.
38:46And that's what we're seeing today.
38:49All the guests have now arrived and the hospitality is flowing.
38:53Jeff, are you drinking Pantilemon?
38:55No, I mean...
38:56It's meant to be a bar and then, like, you can serve the garden...
39:02We've been so lucky to make lovely friends here in Spain and, you know, to be able to celebrate with them in our own home.
39:16It's a privilege to be able to host a party and show people and go, this is what you've helped achieve.
39:21You know, without your help, we wouldn't be able to do it.
39:24The vegan food truck is about to start serving.
39:27So before everyone tooks in, Jasmine wants to seize an important opportunity.
39:33Thank you all so much for coming.
39:36Muchas gracias a todos para venir.
39:39We are so grateful to each and every one of you for helping and supporting us over the last few months.
39:47It has been such a journey for us, for John and I, for Joy and Albie, for our whole family,
39:53taking on a project like this in Spain and looking around now at our beautiful home.
39:59I am lost for words.
40:01I'm probably going to cry now, so I'm sorry, I apologise in advance.
40:04I mean, you've cried at almost every...
40:05I've cried at every dungeon.
40:07The incredible people around us are what's carried us through this.
40:10So, Dominic and all you guys, thank you so much for your tireless work.
40:15And mum's here.
40:21You do it! You do it, please!
40:23I can't talk!
40:25Why?
40:26Right now, don't fail me.
40:28To my mum, my mum, to your mum, to Jaz's mum, thank you for being there through every drama,
40:33every high and every low, always ready with a word of encouragement, a hug or a calm voice when we needed it most.
40:38And to my family, thank you for their constant support.
40:41Most of all, to our wonder...
40:45Most of all, to our wonderful children, Joy and Albion,
40:48you're the reason we're here, building a future for you both.
40:52We hope you have the best time growing up here and making memories in every room and corner of this house.
40:57You know, for me, a massive thanks to Jaz.
41:01You know, none of this would have been possible without your continual strength and driving support.
41:08So, thanks to Jaz.
41:10Love you all.
41:12And thank you all so much for coming.
41:14Cheers!
41:15Cheers!
41:17And here's a little, a tiny little surprise for Jaz.
41:21Oh, Gabriella!
41:23Oh, my gosh!
41:24Oh, my gosh!
41:25Oh, my gosh!
41:26Oh, my gosh!
41:27Oh, my gosh!
41:28Oh, my gosh!
41:33Congratulations!
41:34Oh, my gosh!
41:36I remember saying right at the beginning, you have to trust it will all work out in the end.
41:41And yes, we knew it was going to be a challenge.
41:43But, honestly, with everyone's help, everyone who's been involved has just pulled out all the stops
41:51to make it happen for us.
41:53And I couldn't be more grateful, actually.
42:08I think it feels like some stories to tell the grandkids of when we crazily bought a house in Spain.
42:14Well, thanks for being on this journey with me.
42:17I mean, it's been a, been a ride, hasn't it?
42:20It's been a heck of a ride.
42:21But, yeah, I can't, I can't speak without feeling like I'm going to cry.
42:29I want everything.
42:30You want everything.
42:31Get the breeze.
42:32One last surprise.
42:33If everyone wants to come up to the roof terrace on the very top, you have to come this way using Jaz's new stairs.
42:38Everyone to the roof terrace, the top one.
42:40Here's the top one.
42:41Number four.
42:45Put to the four 4 an hour.
42:50And the floor, and the hall.
42:53We're not folding.
42:56You don't have to burn you.
42:59Take that striFreebonge,
43:06I love the zit.
43:09I love music and I especially love Latin music, so that was really special.
43:16It was fantastic.
43:22The guitarist was out of this world, the singer was fantastic.
43:31We kind of set out to create this house or this home
43:34that was perfect for entertaining and being sociable
43:37and it feels like it's a nice way to end by being entertaining
43:41and being sociable and using the house, using every bit of the house.
43:46And now the renovation is over,
43:49we'll have a lot more time to spend with our loved ones
43:53and I'm so much looking forward to it. I can't wait.
44:07Tonight, it's the start of our new lives. It's why we came to Spain.
44:14And renovating a house was never in our plan but it was kind of a means to an end.
44:20So now, we get to start living the life we want.
44:25High five.
44:26High five.
44:38High five.
44:39I'm going to go for later.
