00:00The knee went down and now the punter is coming out for Chicago on a fourth and one Steelers defense holds up. It's Torrey Taylor who's averaging 48.1 yards per kick a net of 39.5 won the Ray Guy award as the top punter in the country for Iowa back in 2023.
00:29Calvin Austin the third is standing at the 19. They've got pretty good pressure. Taylor gets it off. Handled by Austin. The stutter step move and gets to the outside out of bounds out near the 35. Getting into the holiday spirit here in Chicago. Right now it's a three-point Bears lead.
00:50The NFL on CBS is sponsored by Geico. It feels good to Geico. And by Valspar Paint. Made for more.
01:07Beautiful weekend here in Chicago. The Bears 24. The Steelers 21. Mason Rudolph is 11 of 13. He's got 85 yards through the air.
01:21The question will Arthur Smith and the Steelers cut him loose a bit looking for some shots downfield or do they maintain the current game plan which has been a whole lot of screen passes.
01:32Johnnie Smith.
01:37So on a give to Smith. The tackle is made by the corner Nashawn Wright. He rolled up on DK from behind there and DK is a little slow to get up.
01:45I've already having been limped out of the game one time today.
01:50So the second time that Metcalf has to get to the sideline.
01:54We'll see it right here. He just rolls up on the back of him.
01:59But Ian, to your point about Mason Rudolph, they've really taken three shots down the field.
02:04They've had two 50-50 balls on goal balls down the sideline. One was intercepted by Nashawn Wright. One was broken up by Nashawn Wright.
02:10And then they had that Ben Skoranek throw, which is currently the leading receiver of the day on one throw for 21 yards.
02:17Other than that, it has been all screens, dink and dunk behind the line of scrimmage.
02:22They have not really opened up the offense. And here we go.
02:25Rudolph.
02:27Downfield.
02:28Incomplete.
02:30Austin the intended receiver. Flag is down. Bears fans react with Nick McLeod back there.
02:36And remember, they're playing without Tyreek Stevenson. And as mentioned, the Bears are down four linebackers now after the injury to Hippolite.
02:48Pass interference. Defense number 24.
02:52That ball, he placed that spot on the foul. Automatic. First down.
02:57Yeah, the jersey tug right there. Pretty clear.
03:00When you get the jersey to pull away from the pads like that, it basically gives the ref the green light to throw that flag all day long.
03:1427-yard penalty.
03:16That would be considered their second longest play of the day, other than the Gainwell run.
03:23But now they're set up at the 35 of Chicago.
03:30It's a handoff to Warren. Stops. Nowhere to go.
03:35Nashawn Wright is doing it all right now for the Bears.
03:38It's incredible. Yes, he's unblocked, but you still have to stay disciplined.
03:43Nashawn Wright, just a fantastic football player.
03:46Talked to Dennis Allen this week, and he said this is just a testament to Nashawn's fortitude.
03:50He was on the practice squad at Minnesota last year.
03:53He's never really played a significant role on a team in terms of playing time on defense yet.
03:59And he comes in here every day, works his butt off, never complains, and he's reaping the benefits.
04:04Metcalf is back in there. Rudolph looking.
04:07Rudolph is set.
04:08Ball's out. Ball's out.
04:10Ball is rolling around. Who's got it?
04:13Bears had a shot at it.
04:15Steelers then had a chance.
04:17Chicago's Montez Sweat and the Bears secure it.
04:23They're summoned by the defense.
04:26First down, Chicago.
04:30Montez Sweat's first sack of the day came one-on-one on Darnell Washington, and so does his second.
04:36He gets around him quicker this time.
04:38Gets to Mason Rudolph.
04:40Knocks the ball out.
04:41Huge play for the Bears' defense.
04:44Trevon Dexter, the big dancing bear, according to Montez Sweat, tried to dance with the ball there.
04:50Wasn't able to pick it up, but wow.
04:52Massive play for the Chicago Bears' takeaway specialist.
04:56Sweat forces the fumble, recovers the fumble.
04:59Second takeaway of the day.
05:04That's now 24 on the season to lead the NFL.
05:08And the Bears get it back at the 46.
05:10Up by three.
05:173.52 remaining in the third.
05:20Williams with a deep drop.
05:22Downfield.
05:23Pits his man, D.J. Moore.
05:25The catch and curl.
05:26Inside the 35.
05:27This is just some cover three defense here.
05:35D.J. Moore is going to drive into the heart of the defense and then put the brakes on and find plenty of space in the middle.
05:42And we've talked about it all day long.
05:44When Caleb Williams is able to throw on time, he is very good.
05:48And he's got 224 yards on the day.
05:51D.J. Moore, eight-year veteran, has put up some excellent numbers in his career.
05:58Four 1,000-yard seasons.
06:00Numbers are down this year, but a huge day for him.
06:03But no guy fires through that hole.
06:06And he's taken down at the 26.5 by Duggar.
06:11Under three minutes to go in the third.
06:13There's a little bit of this gamesmanship going on.
06:15I talked about it early in the game.
06:17Those last two plays, they had Malik Harrison in at linebacker, who's the run stopper, and Ben Johnson throws a pass.
06:23Then they had Peyton Wilson in, who is the pass defender, and they ran the ball at him.
06:28Ben Johnson, the schematic guy, taking advantage.
06:33Shotgun, Williams.
06:35And it's offline.
06:36There have been a few of those from Williams today.
06:38Odunze, the intended target.
06:40When we talked to Mike Tomlin yesterday, we asked him about the Chicago offense.
06:44He said, man, Ben Johnson's done an awesome job minimizing the quarterback's exposure to the defense.
06:51A lot of play action, a lot of misdirections.
06:53Their gadget game is strong.
06:55And then he went back.
06:57He said, 2021, I remember playing Detroit.
07:01Anthony Lynn was the offensive coordinator, but he thought to himself,
07:05man, I think that got Ben Johnson's calling the plays, and it wasn't public at that point.
07:10And he was right.
07:11He was.
07:13Third down and two.
07:15Monongai, can he get there?
07:19He didn't.
07:21And Caleb deserves a lot of credit today because this Bears running game has not been what it normally is.
07:28The near side official gave him an excellent spot.
07:31The far side official had him behind, and it is going to be enough for the first down.
07:35It's a great view of it right here.
07:38It looks like that ball does, at minimum, touch that line for the first down.
07:44So this drive continues for Chicago.
07:48We're going to go under two minutes to play in the third.
07:52Monongai remains in there.
07:54The rookie from Rutgers.
07:58Take it.
08:00Williams.
08:01Toss it.
08:01And the catch is made at the 20 by Durham Smite.
08:07Four-yard pickup.
08:10You asked Caleb Williams about escapability, and he said it just goes back to his youth
08:15and how he can read situations, how he can feel pressure.
08:20This one was designed for Caleb to get to the outside.
08:23Yeah, it was a really interesting conversation.
08:25He said, obviously, I can feel it.
08:26I can sense it.
08:27There's a little of the crowd noise that plays into it.
08:29Also, knowing my own lineman.
08:31Hand off.
08:32Monongai.
08:36He just doesn't stop.
08:39The body machinations.
08:40That's a full bear outfit for that gentleman.
08:42That's commitment.
08:47It is.
08:47He is fully committed to the bit, and so is Kyle Monongai right now.
08:52He's got 38 yards.
08:55This is starting to find its way, and look at that, man.
08:58He's trying to find a salmon somewhere.
09:00Is that a coat or a onesie?
09:03A snuggie?
09:05I don't know.
09:06Is he going to walk around downtown with that later?
09:08I think so, even on the off days.
09:10Oh, good.
09:12Monongai.
09:17Monongai is just a ball of energy.
09:19Five-yard pickup.
09:20James Pierre, the tackle.
09:22We're down to 25 seconds to go in the third.
09:26Bears do not have to snap it.
09:29They lead the Steelers by three.
09:32This made possible thanks to the Montez Sweat individual effort
09:36of knocking the ball out of Mason Rudolph's hands
09:40and eventually coming away with it.
09:42The question coming into the week,
09:50are the Bears legitimate contenders of the NFC?
09:53Bears fans like the answer so far.
09:55Williams trying to get out of the pocket.
10:01He loses the ball, and the Steelers jump on top of it.
10:05He's going to pass my record.
10:06That's one hell of a way to do it.
10:08Williams now field.
10:09Open man.
10:10Touchdown, D.J. Moore.
10:12Caleb Williams taking advantage.
10:14Start of the fourth quarter, Chicago 24, the Steelers 21.
10:21And the Bears looking for more.
10:27Swift in the backfield.
10:30Williams on again.
10:31Swift trying to get it to the outside.
10:34And he's brought down inside the three by Keanu Benton.
10:38It's going to be third and goal.
10:45Pretty massive play here, obviously.
10:47If the Steelers do get a stop, it puts Ben Johnson into decision-making mode.
10:52But this very well could be four-down territory because you're either punching it in to make
10:58it a ten-point game, or at minimum, you're leaving the Steelers with an extremely long
11:03field.
11:05The rookie, Manungai, in there.
11:08Shotgun for Williams.
11:13Hang on.
11:13Manungai.
11:15Here's a hammer.
11:17Touchdown, Bears.
11:18Don't even need the fourth down.
11:22Just follow that interior of the offensive line that has been together all year long and
11:28done such a great job.
11:30Look at this push from the guys in the middle.
11:34Tooney, Dahlman, Jackson.
11:37He doesn't even get touched before he crosses the goal line.
11:40Give credit to the big guys up front on the Bears' offensive line.
11:44Three straight games with a rushing touchdown.
11:47Four-down for Manungai.
11:53Nine plays, 54 yards.
11:56Extra point from Santos.
12:01And the Bears have built a ten-point lead early stages of the fourth.
12:06The Montez sweatshirt.
12:08The fourth fumble, the recovery by a sweat, and then Manungai does the rest on the ground.
12:17The NFL on CBS is sponsored by AT&T.
12:27Connecting changes everything.
12:30Little Caesars.
12:32The official pizza sponsor of the NFL.
12:35And by State Farm.
12:37Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
12:44Bears have generated 313 yards of offense.
12:49Steelers' defense made some big plays early.
12:52But Chicago now up 31-21 over Pittsburgh.
13:00Santos places this inside the five to Keyshawn Williams.
13:05And Williams is twirled down across the 25-yard line.
13:11Thanksgiving weekend, CBS has a hearty helping of college football beginning Friday, Iowa and Nebraska.
13:17Followed by Boise State and Utah State.
13:20Then Saturday at 3.30, another big-time matchup.
13:22Number seven, Oregon takes on Washington.
13:26It all starts with college football today.
13:28All on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
13:31Romo Dunze, proud Washington alum.
13:40First down.
13:43And Rudolph hooks up with Janu Smith for seven yards.
13:49Adam Schein has got us covered and sent it to New York.
13:52NFL Today update.
13:53I and J.J. Mike Kafka in his bag.
13:56This is next-level trickeration.
13:58Are you kidding me?
13:59Connor Osheski to Jameis Winston.
14:03Look at these moves.
14:05Giants are leading by 10 against Detroit.
14:07Back to you.
14:09Is Jameis miked up?
14:11I think that's the question.
14:12I would love to hear what he's saying while he's twirling around by the goal line.
14:17On the ground at Gainwell.
14:19And that is going to be enough for the first down.
14:22Kevin Byard will get credit for the stop.
14:24He picks up four yards.
14:25All right, what's the philosophy right now here at the Pittsburgh Steelers?
14:28There's still 13 minutes and change left on the clock.
14:30There's plenty of time, but I really like that first play call because they're finally thrown to some tight ends over the middle trying to take advantage of these new linebackers that are there.
14:38Rudolph.
14:39Underneath pass to D.K. Metcalf.
14:41And once again, they make sure he can't do much with it after the catch.
14:47It's a three-yard game through the air.
14:50Most of this day, any time they've thrown the ball downfield, it's been those 50-50 go balls down the sideline, which are not what you want to give Mason Rudolph.
14:58Moving quickly now, Pittsburgh.
15:04But Gainwell with another short game for the Steelers, and that's a yard and a half third out.
15:10They tried to take advantage of those linebackers there getting Gainwell on Jackson, but big credit to Jackson.
15:16He stood exactly on his toes, waited for Gainwell to make his move, and then secured the tackle.
15:23That's what you want if you're the Steelers trying to get those one-on-ones, but then you also have to give credit to the Bears when they perform.
15:30This is a third down and five.
15:37Think about that Skoranek over from earlier.
15:42Rudolph slings it.
15:43Handled by Austin.
15:45First down.
15:46Good move upfield by Austin to get extra yards inside the 40.
15:51Tackle made by Nick McLeod.
15:52They appear to be targeting him.
15:5419 yards on the pass play.
15:57This is a great little whirlybird route.
15:59Pretend you're going inside across the field and then spin back out.
16:05Just a little man-beater there, and Calvin Austin able to pick up the first down.
16:1511 and a half to play in the fourth.
16:19Rudolph now with 115 yards through the air.
16:2115 of 17.
16:23Hand-off.
16:23Jalen Warren ripping through.
16:26And takes it across the 35.
16:30Tackle made.
16:31Ogbong Lamega for Chicago.
16:35So they'll place it down at the 34.
16:38Six-yard gain for Warren.
16:47Steelers have 159 yards rushing.
16:50Of course, the big run by Gainwell, 55 yards.
16:56Warren stays in there.
16:58Motion man.
16:59Skoranek.
17:01It's another running play.
17:02A little stop and go by Warren.
17:04He will come up shy on the first down.
17:07Picks up three.
17:07This is Nashawn Wright again off the edge, creating some issues.
17:13Unblocked.
17:15Comes out Warren.
17:18Steelers quick on the ball here on third and one.
17:20No huddle.
17:24It's Rudolph.
17:27So the lean by Rudolph gives him enough for the first down.
17:32So that'll move the chains with the clock continuing to roll.
17:40First down to 10 for the Steelers.
17:42The Bears' 29-yard line.
17:45Ninth play of the drive.
17:47Ten minutes left.
17:50Steelers down by ten.
17:52Gainwell now in there.
17:57Take the handoff.
17:59Rudolph steps up.
18:00And Rudolph gets out of there.
18:03He's going to heave it downfield and incomplete.
18:07Montez Sweat had a chance at another sack.
18:12Montez Sweat had two sacks against a tight end.
18:16So then they decide it was a good idea to try and block him with a running back.
18:20That was a bad idea.
18:23And Roderick Jones, the starting left tackle, is down on the play.
18:40So Jones turned around.
18:42The defender went up in the air.
18:44And Jones got hit at a weird angle.
18:48We'll step aside and be right back.
18:54Roderick Jones got up.
18:56He was very upset.
18:57Going to the sideline.
18:59Eventually made his way to the blue tent.
19:01Calvin Anderson steps in.
19:03Second down and ten for Pittsburgh.
19:069.42 to go.
19:07A handoff to Warren.
19:11And he's bottled up.
19:13And I got Marco Jackson.
19:14The linebackers have done their job today for Chicago.
19:17Again, the Steelers going no huddle.
19:23Third down for Pittsburgh.
19:26Shotgun.
19:27Rudolph.
19:28His man falls down.
19:30And it's incomplete.
19:31DK Metcalf with a penalty marker at the 15.
19:34Now, Sean Wright was back there.
19:38Yep.
19:38The Sean Wright just kind of falls on DK's feet and almost tackles him here.
19:45Pass interference.
19:46Pass interference.
19:48Defense.
19:48Number 26.
19:50Falling places by the foul.
19:52Automatic.
19:53First down.
19:58So, the Steelers have a first down.
20:02Ball at the 15 of Chicago.
20:07Take a look at this graphic on Mason Rudolph today.
20:1014 for 14.
20:12Under 10 yards through the air.
20:14One for four with the interception over.
20:16Obviously, three of those being 50-50 goal balls.
20:18But that's kind of been the story of the day.
20:21The Steelers not taking many deep shots.
20:23And even when they are, not a lot of success.
20:26Motion man is Washington.
20:27Extra offensive lineman.
20:28Hand off to Warren.
20:30And Warren dives to the 10.
20:35Hit by Robinson.
20:36We check in with Evan.
20:37Guys, it's a stinger for Roderick Jones.
20:39He's currently making his way to the Steelers locker room.
20:44All right.
20:44Thank you, Evan.
20:45We also have a Bears injury on the play.
20:48Dominique Robinson.
20:51Athletic training staff gets to him very quickly.
20:56As Jones heads to the back.
20:58Steelers now shuffling on that offensive line.
21:03You still see the XL package.
21:06As Mike Tomlin told us, it is the identity.
21:10It's part of who they are.
21:12It's a signature of how they run their offense.
21:15Robinson goes to the sidelines for Chicago.
21:19And as you get down here towards the red zone, you obviously have D.K.
21:24who's a fave ball threat.
21:26But you also have Darnell Washington who can post people up.
21:29Still a little too far to do it right now.
21:31But at some point, that could come into play as you see Darnell Washington split out wide
21:36on the bottom.
21:37Second down and six.
21:39Twelfth play of the drive.
21:40Gainwell in the backfield.
21:43He releases.
21:44Rudolph looks for him.
21:45Gainwell the catch.
21:46Makes his move.
21:48And Gainwell is stood up short of the line to gain.
21:54Tackle made by Ogbomba Miga along with Bayard.
22:00It's third and one.
22:02Steelers rush to the line.
22:04They're down by 10.
22:078.22 to go.
22:12Rudolph.
22:13First down.
22:15Pittsburgh.
22:18Mason likes to take these quarterback sneaks outside more than traditional quarterback sneaks.
22:24He lets everybody push the pile forward and fall.
22:27And then he goes out towards the B gap or even the C gap,
22:30which is between the guard and the tackle or the tackle and the tight end.
22:34And just finds a little bit of space there to fall forward.
22:39Four-teens play of the drive.
22:41Ball is at the four.
22:43First and goal for Pittsburgh.
22:48Friar moved to motion.
22:50Pitch it.
22:51Gainwell.
22:53Weaves in for the touchdown.
22:56Ketaly marker on the play.
22:59It's going to be a hold on DK.
23:00D.K.
23:04He's coming back.
23:12Holding.
23:14Offense number four.
23:16Tengar penalty.
23:18First down.
23:20He's out there on the edge at the point of attack, trying to block.
23:24And he just gets too much.
23:27He gets too much jersey.
23:31It's a pretty clear hold.
23:34There you can see it.
23:35He's got his hand on the back of the Sean Wright.
23:38Completely turns him sideways.
23:40Tough one there.
23:42Definitely affected the play.
23:44So, back it up to the 13-yard line.
23:49First and goal for Pittsburgh.
23:54Little trickery for Johnny Smith.
23:56And he spun down inside the tent.
23:59Picks up three and a half.
24:00This drive is taking a ton of time.
24:04I mean, we still have 7.30 left in this game.
24:06So, it's not crazy by any means.
24:08But this is an extended drive by the Steelers.
24:12Caleb Williams and that Bears offense has been on the sideline for a very long time.
24:16And right now, they've got another injury.
24:19And it is a linebacker.
24:22Ogbong Bamega.
24:25Former Los Angeles Charger.
24:28Undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State back in 2021.
24:32Man, they're going to start calling Brian Urlacher or Big Cat to come out here soon.
24:36These linebackers, they are getting deep into it.
24:39Mike Singletary is here.
24:41Does he have a helmet?
24:43He was featured as the legend of the game in the first half.
24:46I mean, legitimate concern right now.
24:50Certainly.
24:51Certainly.
24:53Ogbong Bamega has got 14 tackles today.
24:56He was not supposed to play.
24:58Unbelievable.
24:59Like we said at the beginning of this day, they had five tackles total between these three linebackers who were replacing TJ Edwards, Tremaine Edmonds, and Noah Sewell.
25:09And then Hippolite goes out early in the game.
25:12It's incredible.
25:13You have to give credit to Dennis Allen for being able to get those guys up to speed, call the defense properly.
25:19You see him there.
25:21But this defense, I mean, just watching the game, you wouldn't immediately look and say, oh, the linebackers are new.
25:27They've done a really good job today.
25:28So Carl Jones Jr., who has been part of the practice squad, is now being called upon to man the position.
25:39Meanwhile, it's a second and goal for Pittsburgh with 7-17 on the clock.
25:42The music in the stadium right now is, uh, I don't know how to describe it.
25:50That was at a spa?
25:51That was like we were in an elevator.
25:53What?
25:54That was...
25:55I don't know.
25:5831-21, Bears.
25:59Crank it back up, Soldier Field.
26:01Get the energy going here.
26:03Line of scrimmage is the nine.
26:05Hand-off to Gainwell.
26:06Gainwell breaks a tackle and then driven backwards as he hit the four-yard line.
26:12It's a six-yard pickup.
26:14Grady Jarrett, the veteran, got in there for Chicago.
26:18It's third and goal.
26:21Third and goal, and kind of like we talked about earlier with the Ben Johnson potential decision,
26:27I think this is four-down territory for the Steelers just because of how important those seven points are,
26:32how tough it is to get down there.
26:34It benefits you more to try and get the seven than to settle for the three now.
26:39From the gun, double clutch, touchdown, Friar move.
26:45And that's a BB from Mason Rudolph.
26:49Steelers get the score.
26:52Long drive, they cap it off.
26:5517 plays with a touchdown strike from Rudolph.
26:59There's a lot of traffic, a lot of confusion amongst the Bears defenders.
27:06Look at all three just kind of standing together in a grouping, and Friar moves, slips behind him.
27:12That little bunch formation really put the Bears communication in a tough spot.
27:17That's the point.
27:18Boswell.
27:19He nails it.
27:24We've got a three-point game with 6.27 to go.
27:32Mason Rudolph, calm, cool, and throws for the touchdown.
27:40Friar move, his fourth of the season.
27:47So the pendulum swings.
27:50Pressure now on Chicago to get a little something going on this drive to use clock.
27:55Coming up, State Farm postgame show.
28:00JB, Nate, Matt Ryan, Coach Cowher, scores, highlights, all coming up on the State Farm postgame show.
28:06Yeah, and that last drive lasted a very, very long time.
28:10And you think to yourself as a fan, well, the players are always warm.
28:14They're always ready.
28:15But that was a very long drive to be sitting on the bench.
28:18These guys have to get their juices flowing again, get a little lather going, and go back out there and put together a great drive.
28:28Boswell to kick it.
28:31Got Duvernay and Blackwell deep for Chicago.
28:37Both teams have all three timeouts remaining.
28:42Steelers entered action a game ahead of Baltimore in the AFC North at 6-4.
28:47Blackwell, the return man.
28:50And he's brought down short of the 35.
28:54Down to Evan Washburn.
28:56As Caleb Williams makes his way onto the field, he took a few deep breaths before entering this huddle.
29:01And it speaks to his mentality in these moments.
29:04He told us, goes back to his work with yoga and his breath work.
29:08He said he's a fiery guy, naturally.
29:09And it's important for him to have that breath work because it centers him.
29:13He doesn't look at it like tunnel vision, guys.
29:15But it really focuses him to the zone of just the field.
29:18Nothing else around him matters right now.
29:21It's literally just 100 yards and the two sidelines.
29:25Yeah, he said it's a calming influence for him.
29:27And we'll see him do it throughout the game.
29:30The important possession here for Chicago.
29:34Williams faked the handoff.
29:35It's incomplete.
29:37Oh, Dunze, the intended target.
29:42We talked about the completion percentage.
29:44It is low for Caleb Williams.
29:46And he hasn't helped it much here today.
29:50He had this throw over the middle.
29:54Burden is wide open.
29:56Watch the middle of this zone open up.
29:58And Burden settle right in there.
30:00Just not able to connect.
30:03But when Ben Johnson talks about scheming the primary guy open,
30:06that's exactly what he's talking about.
30:116-16 to play.
30:14Second and 10.
30:14Back to the ground.
30:17DeAndre Swift there is not much there.
30:19Two-yard kickoff.
30:23Tackled made by Malik Harrison and T.J. Watt.
30:27It's now third down.
30:28And we're going to go under the six-minute mark.
30:33This is the number four offense in the NFL,
30:36averaging 373.8 yards per game.
30:40They've got 315 yards today.
30:42Third down and eight.
30:53Shotgun for Williams.
30:57Nickel package here for Pittsburgh.
31:00Steelers initially showed it too high.
31:02Caleb was taking his time to dissect it,
31:04and the clock ran out.
31:06Offense.
31:07Five-yard penalty.
31:09Third down.
31:09That's rough.
31:10Jalen Ramsey started to rotate down towards the line of scrimmage,
31:14and then you saw some of these defenders creep up,
31:16and Caleb was trying to make sure he understood what coverage it was
31:19and didn't realize the play clock ran out.
31:21Yeah, you asked Kyle Duggar about the too-high safety look.
31:24He said,
31:24we're trying to show the QB different things.
31:27We're trying to switch it up for offensive coordinators
31:30so they don't know what we're doing.
31:31Yeah, they had initially started with Jalen Ramsey up high,
31:35giving them that too-high look,
31:37and then rotated down,
31:38and Caleb was just trying to decipher it all.
31:40He fires.
31:41The ball nearly got dislodged,
31:43and Loveland holds onto it.
31:45It's not enough for the first down.
31:47They needed 13.
31:48They get 11.
31:49He took a pop.
31:51What a catch.
31:52What concentration.
31:54I don't even think his body realized it was hurt
31:56until way after
31:57because he was so focused on catching that football.
32:00Kyle Duggar with the hit,
32:04and now the Bears will punt,
32:07and this defense, I'm sure,
32:09is just trying to catch their breath
32:10after that long drive from Pittsburgh,
32:12and catching the ball keeps the clock running,
32:14but, man, think about that delay of game penalty.
32:17They're two yards short of a first down.
32:19That five-yard penalty made a huge difference.
32:21Taylor, not much of a rush,
32:25more of a line drive,
32:27and the ball will just settle in along the sideline
32:31right around the 12.
32:3249-yard kick.
32:37Thursday, 4.30 Eastern.
32:39The NFL on CBS sets the table
32:41for a Thanksgiving football feast.
32:44The Holmes and the Chiefs travel to Dallas
32:45for a duel with the Cowboys,
32:47beginning with the NFL today,
32:48then, count on Sunday for another NFL on CBS doubleheader
32:52featuring an AFC South matchup,
32:54the Texans and Colts,
32:56followed by a late afternoon showdown
32:58between the Bills and Steelers,
33:00beginning once again with the NFL today
33:02at noon Eastern right here on CBS
33:04and streaming on Paramount+.
33:07Pittsburgh Steelers are 1-12 all-time in Chicago,
33:15the only victory coming back in 1995.
33:19They trail 31-28.
33:23Rudolph, he throws.
33:25Good hands by Washington.
33:26Yes, proceed at your own risk
33:30if you want to tackle Darnell Washington.
33:32It required multiple defenders,
33:35Brisker and McLeod.
33:378-and-a-half on the play.
33:38That play was a great example
33:40of the challenge Darnell Washington presents.
33:43He's so big you would not expect his hands
33:45to be that good,
33:46but he reaches out,
33:47snags it,
33:48and then is able to just fight through defenders
33:51with that 309-pound frame.
33:54He told us his top weight this season
33:56was 334.
33:57Changed his diet,
33:58stopped drinking calories,
34:01caffeine-related.
34:02This week he weighed in at 309.
34:05Pitching to Warren.
34:09And that final fall forward
34:11put him very close.
34:14Tryon Shojinka with the tackle,
34:17but the initial placement is short.
34:19Looks like he might be just short.
34:21The way that he was tackled,
34:22his knees hit the ground
34:24while he was still very upright.
34:26So I don't believe he was given
34:27the benefit of the doubt of the fall
34:29because the knees were already down.
34:33They have to get across the 21.
34:38Third down for the Steelers.
34:40It's a handoff,
34:42and it's enough for Warren.
34:44Quiets the crowd.
34:45Two-yard pickup.
34:46We close in on three minutes to play.
34:52Three minutes,
34:54three timeouts,
34:55obviously plenty there,
34:57but you're not going to be able to do it
35:00in four or five-yard chunks.
35:01At some point,
35:02there's going to have to be
35:03some form of little explosive plays
35:06at least.
35:06Rudolph surveying.
35:13Throws it underneath.
35:15Catch is made,
35:15and it's whistle dead
35:17after the grab by Johnnie Smith.
35:21Pick up six yards on the play.
35:22Coming up,
35:23State Farm Postgame Show.
35:24J.B. and the gang in New York.
35:26Latest scores and highlights
35:27all coming up
35:28on the State Farm Postgame Show.
35:29Second down and four
35:34for the Steelers.
35:36Clock is moving.
35:372.20 remaining
35:38here in Chicago.
35:39Rushes on.
35:40Rudolph,
35:41deep shot downfield,
35:42and it's incomplete.
35:44Roman Wilson.
35:46He was one-on-one
35:48with McLeod,
35:49and it's going to be
35:50third and four
35:51for Pittsburgh.
35:53Another one of those goal balls.
35:55They're just,
35:56they have not been there.
35:57They keep trying them.
35:58They have not been there.
36:00Go with something
36:02crossing,
36:03something coming across
36:05Mason's face,
36:06roll him out,
36:07but these goal balls
36:08that they keep trying
36:09just have not been there
36:10today for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
36:16Third down and four.
36:19Bears fans are loud.
36:22Shotgun Rudolph,
36:23flag down.
36:24Rudolph steps up.
36:26Rudolph will run for it,
36:28and a whole lot more
36:30to slide into
36:31Chicago territory.
36:33Officially down at the 50.
36:36Penalty marker back
36:38at the 24.
36:42Everybody's walking back.
36:44there's another flag
36:51on the four shot
36:52of the field.
36:54Illegal for Mason.
36:55Offense number 76
36:57was left uncovered
36:58on the end of the line.
37:00The five-yard penalty
37:01third down.
37:04Both of these guys
37:05are off the line,
37:07which means 76 is uncovered.
37:09You cannot do that.
37:10You have to have
37:12one of the eligible receivers
37:13on the line of scrimmage.
37:14You can see Calvin Austin
37:15looking back,
37:16trying to figure it out,
37:17but takes a huge play
37:20for the Pittsburgh offense
37:21off the board
37:22and now puts them
37:23in a third and nine.
37:242-0-5 to play.
37:31The long run by Rudolph
37:33negated by the penalty.
37:35Faked the handoff.
37:36Rudolph in the pocket.
37:37Rudolph,
37:38his pass is deflected.
37:39Incomplete.
37:42It's fourth down
37:43with 2-0-1
37:45on the clock.
37:48Big Grady,
37:49Jarrett in the middle
37:50gets his hand up
37:51and tips that pass
37:55just as good of a sack.
37:58Gets you off the field.
38:00And they are going
38:02to punt it.
38:06Steelers have all
38:07three timeouts remaining.
38:09Mike Tomlin putting
38:10full faith in his defense
38:11to get a three and out.
38:14The only option they got.
38:17Wakeman.
38:19Up in the air.
38:20Duvernay.
38:21Wakeman gets out
38:22of the way.
38:23And Pittsburgh downs it
38:25at a 44-yard line.
38:28It's just a 33-yard punt
38:29for Wakeman.
38:33We have hit
38:34the two-minute warning.
38:36A tight one
38:37in a windy city.
38:39Bears and Steelers
38:41coming down to the wire.
38:42The NFL on CBS
38:48is sponsored by Pepsi.
38:51Food deserves Pepsi.
38:53And by Verizon.
38:56The best 5G network.
38:58There's only one best.
39:001-53 to play.
39:05Bears 31, Steelers 28.
39:09Pittsburgh has all
39:10three timeouts remaining.
39:13If they were to force
39:14a three and out,
39:15they could get the ball
39:16back right around
39:17a minute 25
39:18in that range.
39:19Hand off the new guy.
39:26Keeps those legs moving,
39:27but he's dropped
39:29after a half yard.
39:31That's it.
39:32Timeout taken.
39:33Tonight on CBS
39:35begins with 60 Minutes
39:36and a report
39:37on America's
39:38last best place
39:39and why it's at risk
39:41followed by
39:41new episodes of
39:42Tracker
39:42and the music
39:43competition series
39:44The Road
39:45plus NCIS Origins
39:47that's tonight
39:48on CBS Sunday.
39:51For Ben Johnson
39:53as the play caller here
39:54you have to waste
39:55these Steelers
39:56timeouts obviously.
39:57So run game
39:59is the obvious answer,
40:00but if you do
40:00want to pass it,
40:02you roll Caleb
40:02out and you tell him
40:04if it's not there
40:05you just run or slide.
40:06It doesn't matter.
40:08Just make sure
40:08that clock keeps running
40:10so they have to use
40:10the timeouts.
40:11If they get a first down
40:12it virtually ends the game.
40:16Pitch it.
40:17Manungai.
40:20He is tumbling down
40:21and he's tackled
40:24at the 47.
40:27He had a huge alley
40:28to cut back into
40:29if he didn't trip down.
40:31trying to make that cut.
40:34Watch this alley
40:35that opens up
40:36right here.
40:37Huge hole
40:38that probably
40:39ends the game
40:40if he doesn't lose
40:41his footing there
40:41and he knows it.
40:42So just doing the math here
40:47the one timeout remaining
40:48they get a first down
40:49on this play
40:51it ends the game.
40:54So it's a big play.
40:55Yeah.
40:57But are you willing
40:58to pass
40:59if you're Ben Johnson?
41:03Third down and seven.
41:04The risk reward
41:06here for Chicago.
41:08Motion man Zaccheaus.
41:11142 to go.
41:12Bears up by three.
41:14Williams.
41:15Out of the pocket.
41:17Williams on the move.
41:18Throws.
41:19Incomplete.
41:21136 on the clock.
41:23T.J. Watt
41:24and Patrick Queen
41:26had a beat
41:26on Williams
41:27and the Bears
41:29will put it.
41:30Patrick Queen
41:31off the edge
41:31just a free hitter
41:32and then T.J. Watt
41:34pops back out
41:35to put the pressure
41:35on Caleb
41:36and to your point
41:37Ian
41:37if you throw the ball
41:38the risk you have
41:39is now you've left
41:40136 on the clock
41:42and Steelers
41:43did not have to
41:44use that timeout.
41:45It's a
41:46double whammy
41:47situation there.
41:51So it's going to be
41:52Torrey Taylor
41:53to punt it.
41:55Steelers have
41:56Calvin Austin III
41:57waiting
41:58at the 10.
42:02plenty of time left
42:05and Chris Boswell
42:08has been one of the
42:08best field goal
42:09kickers
42:10in the league.
42:19There was an injured
42:20player
42:21and the Steelers
42:24are going to lose
42:24their timeout
42:25because of it.
42:26so that
42:28win that Pittsburgh
42:31got
42:32not only getting
42:32the stop
42:33but keeping
42:33the timeout
42:34the timeout
42:35portion of it
42:35goes away
42:36but even with
42:37an incomplete
42:37pass
42:38the clock
42:38was stopped
42:39James Pierre
42:42was injured
42:43I'm trying to
42:44figure out
42:44maybe we get
42:45Gene in here
42:45but if the
42:46clock is stopped
42:47why do you
42:48have to burn
42:48the timeout
42:49for an injured
42:51player
42:52it's no
42:53advantage
42:53so now
42:57Pittsburgh
42:57operating
42:58with no
42:58timeout
42:59Taylor
42:59will punt it
43:02to Austin
43:03not much
43:04of a rush
43:05Austin
43:06watches it
43:07bounce
43:08and roll
43:09into the end
43:09zone
43:09so it's
43:12coming out
43:12to the
