00:00Hello, good afternoon. It was a foggy morning for some of us, but I'm hopeful that the sunshine
00:05will break through a little bit more widely as we go through the course of this afternoon.
00:09Looking at the bigger picture, and high pressure remains dominant across the UK,
00:13and that will not go very far at all through the whole of the coming week. So very few,
00:17if any, isobars on the chart. That means not much in the way of breeze, so very little day-to-day
00:22difference in the weather and quite cloudy, murky skies for some of us at times.
00:26But back to Sunday afternoon, we still have some mist and fog patches around in places,
00:31particularly across the Midlands and parts of Wales. That's lifting into low cloud for many,
00:36so there's a better prospect of the sunshine breaking through as we go through the course
00:40of this afternoon. The best of the sunshine, the blue skies across parts of northern England
00:44and southern Scotland, so a glorious afternoon to come for many places here. Across the north of
00:48Scotland, we've still got quite a lot of low clouds, so much like yesterday, some bits and pieces of
00:53dampness around, some drizzle in places too, and some mist and fog potentially too as well.
00:59But in the best of the sunshine, it should feel pleasantly warm through this afternoon. Highs of
01:0317, perhaps even locally 18 degrees Celsius, which is not too bad for the middle part of October,
01:08where that low cloud and fog persists, and it will definitely feel quite a bit cooler.
01:14So some late sunshine for many as we go into this evening, but generally, the cloud amounts will
01:19tend to increase as we go through the course of this evening overnight. A blanket of cloud working
01:23its way slowly westwards across England and Wales. So some early clear skies, but those generally
01:28tend to fit in with cloud, and the cloud potentially bringing a few spots of drizzle in places by the
01:33end of the night, particularly across eastern parts of England and the southeast. The best of the
01:38clear skies tonight will generally be across Scotland, northwestern parts of England, and perhaps
01:42across Northern Ireland as well. So where the skies stay clearest for longest, well, we could see temperatures
01:47dip down to low single figures. So the chance, at least, of some patchy rural frost in a few spots.
01:53But it will also be these regions where we're most likely to see some fog patches developing,
01:57and that fog could be potentially quite dense as we go into Monday morning's rush hour.
02:02Further south, though, with that blanket of cloud, temperatures not as low as they were last night,
02:07so generally not falling much below eight or nine degrees for many.
02:12So some poor visibilities on the road for some of us on Monday morning, particularly across the north.
02:16So the central belt of Scotland could see some particularly dense fog for a time.
02:20Away from those areas of fog, though, there will be plenty of sunshine.
02:23So many inland, mainland parts of Scotland, the far north of England, having a glorious day with,
02:28in some areas, unbroken amounts of sunshine. So a bright day to come here.
02:33Some brightness developing across Northern Ireland as well, with the mixture of clouds and sunny spells.
02:38But for most of England and Wales, a much gloomier day to come.
02:41A widespread low cloud persisting through the course of the day, and even a few spots of drizzle in a few places.
02:47That does mean it's going to feel a little bit cooler compared to on Sunday, despite temperatures being fairly similar.
02:54In the best of the sunshine, though, with the light winds, it won't feel too bad at all.
02:58So it stays fairly similar through Monday evening.
03:02That area of cloud across England and Wales may be breaking at times across the southwest of England,
03:07maybe northern and western parts of Wales as well.
03:09But the best of clear skies once again on Monday night will be across Scotland, Northern Ireland and the far north of England.
03:15So once again, a chance of some fog patches as we go into Tuesday.
03:19But there's not much change in the weather through the rest of this week.
03:22High pressure will continue to dominate.
03:23We are going to see very gloomy conditions at times, so low cloud affecting many areas.
03:29But across the north and the west of the UK, I'm hopeful that the cloud will break at times,
03:33so there'll be some sunny spells as well.
03:35And where we do see clear skies overnight, that's where we're most likely to see some fog patches.
03:41But do make sure you stay tuned to the forecast and keep following us on our social media channels.
03:45And I'll see you again very soon.
