1 June - national forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk
Transcript
00:00Good afternoon, well it is the start of meteorological summer but there are showers around and it
00:06is going to be turning increasingly wet and windy later on. So having a look at the bigger picture
00:10we've got low pressure situated towards the north that clears a ridge of high pressure on Monday
00:15before it turns wet and windy from the north and west with this deep area of low pressure and you
00:20can see this real squeeze in the isobars indicating some very strong winds and we'll have this cold
00:26front moving through bringing some heavy spells of rain but back to the rest of this afternoon
00:31there's spells of rain across northwestern England that's clearing its way through and then it is a
00:36case really of sunny spells scattered showers the heaviest of those showers most likely across
00:41northeastern parts of Scotland with the best of the fine and dry weather across the far south and east
00:48it is going to be breezy out there the strongest winds across the northwest of Scotland and here
00:53it will feel rather cool but in the sunshine further towards the south and east highs up to 21 or 22
01:00degrees so as we go through Sunday evening then we'll hold on to a few showers perhaps merging to
01:06give longer spells of rain across northern parts of Scotland a few showers then running into parts of
01:10Wales but with the ridge of higher pressure building in that'll actually allow those showers to start
01:16easing so many of us seeing clear skies tonight may even see the northern lights across parts of
01:22Scotland otherwise lighter winds out there temperatures could fall away we may even see
01:27a touch of grass frost across Scotland but otherwise milder in the far south lows here of around 10 or 11.
01:35so as we start Monday morning plenty of sunshine first thing we will see a few showers around
01:41initially across parts of northern England and Wales but the focus for showers really tomorrow is going to
01:46be in the afternoon across parts of east Anglia further out towards the west the sunshine will be
01:52turning increasingly hazy across northern Ireland and Scotland with the winds strengthening ahead of this
01:58deep area of low pressure out towards the north and west so again feeling cooler here especially with
02:06that brisk wind but in the sunshine and lighter winds towards the far south and east feeling pleasant highs
02:12again of up to 20 to 22 degrees so that band of rain will continue to push in over the afternoon and
02:20evening time so bringing some heavy spells of rain but also some strong winds we could see coastal gales
02:26that will gradually start moving its way in from the south and east so stay tuned to that make sure to
02:32hit subscribe so you don't miss any updates on that forecast and i'll catch you soon bye bye
