00:09Morris is set to portray Garrett Morris, while O'Brien has landed the role of Dan Aykroyd.
00:14Reitman is directing the film for Sony Pictures from a script he co-wrote with Gil Kennan.
00:18The movie is based on the screenwriter's interviews with the show's living cast,
00:22scribes, and crew.
00:23It is set to focus on the formative moment in October 1975 when the NBC sketch show debuted.
00:28Other cast members just announced include Corey Michael Smith, who will play Chevy Chase,
00:33Ella Hunt, who will play Gilda Radner, and Emily Farron, who will play Lorraine Newman, just to name a few.
00:39Previously announced cast members include Gabriel Lebel as SNL creator Lauren Michaels,
00:44and Rachel Sennett as his ex-wife Rosie Schuster, among others.
00:47As for O'Brien, his recent work includes the film Ponyboy,
00:50which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival this month.
00:53He told The Hollywood Reporter this about getting into character for that movie.
00:56I definitely felt like I knew exactly, like, I knew this guy.
01:01Like, I knew kids like this.
01:02I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
01:04But all those things just really evolve as you start, like, the process comes together,
01:09and, like, the tattoos come in, and the hair, and, like, the clothes, my fit.
01:14You know, like, it just, um, I could never have, like, stepped into the role in the way
01:18that I felt like I ended up doing without all those pieces, you know, the process.
01:22And Morris recently appeared on the fifth season of Fargo.
