00:00And then it was one of these weird moments where I just looked at Jordan.
00:02Jordan looked at me and all of a sudden said,
00:03We got a kid! We got a kid! We're doing the song and singing songs and singing songs!
00:09Keegan-Michael Key stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and talked about
00:12teaming back up with his buddy Jordan Peele on Toy Story 4 and how the two were even
00:16able to sneak in a song into the movie. The actors both star in the film as new
00:20characters Ducky and Bunny, and Key noted that the duo was able to have a lot of
00:24free reign with the improvisation. So much, in fact, that the two were expected to
00:28make up a song on the fly.
00:30They put a bunch of lyrics down for us one day and they said,
00:32So once you guys find out that this thing's gonna happen, we were wondering if you could
00:35just kind of burst in song. And we're like, Oh yeah, whatever song you want.
00:38And they're like, No, we don't really have the song. Could you write a song?
00:43According to Key, it shockingly came naturally to them. They looked at each other,
00:46and the next thing you knew?
00:47We got a kid! We got a kid! We're doing the song and singing songs and singing songs!
00:53They sang the song for 20 minutes straight, but apparently only about five seconds of it
00:57made the cut. Key also spoke about some pressure he may have felt being a part of two high-profile
01:02movies like Toy Story 4 and The Lion King.
01:04I feel like I'm Betsy Ross, and they're like, We need another star on that flag. We want
01:09Keegan to sew it. You want me to sew it? You know what I mean?
01:11In regards to his role in The Lion King, Key explained that he plays one of the hyenas,
01:15but wasn't entirely sure which one of them he was going to be playing from the original.
01:18Because if I had a choice, I would like to be the Cheech Marin, if you don't mind,
01:21because I'd rather have words as my lines other than just going...
01:25I'd rather that not be the guy I play.
01:28And as far as the film's soundtrack goes, Key mentioned that he did offer to sing on it,
01:32but they already had someone else that might have been better suited.
01:35I said, Would you guys want me to do Circle of Life? They're like, We got Beyoncé.
