Elizabeth Williams has this report.
Transcript
00:00Port officials sought to ensure that the business community was fully apprised of the process, leading to the dry docking of the cargo vessel.
00:09It was to speak to the interim arrangements, which would be the TNT Spirit, the Galleon's Passage, and the MVM Prenadora that would be used for the three-week period that the vessel is expected to be out of operation in Trinidad.
00:24The CEO said efforts would be made to ensure there is no food shortage.
00:30The contingency plans, we already have some additional sealants prior to the vessel going on dry dock, which would allow for stockpiling of the warehouses in Tobago.
00:42And that should allow for a significant amount of resources to be in Tobago before the dry docking.
00:49But the vessel that would be there would be with a supplement and fill the gap that is required.
00:55Chairman of the Tobago Arm of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Curtis Williams, told TV6 News the meeting was important towards bridging the gap between the business community and the operations of the port.
01:10It was clear to them and they understand the whole procedures and what the port had put in place for them to make ease throughout the three-week dry dock period.
01:20There were some other issues that were discussed and we know we're going to have a follow-up meeting.
01:25One of the things that they wanted to do is to bridge that link between the business committee and the port authority.
01:30So I think that was to be re-established so that we have that quarterly meeting.
01:34So things like this will be discussed at that level so we don't have any issues going forward.
01:38Only last week, Works Minister Jolene John and her team met in Tobago with Chief Secretary Farley Augustine, other THA officials and members of the business sector to discuss the way forward where the cargo needs of Tobago is concerned.
