00:00It'll be Moore from the two-yard line, and we're underway in blending.
00:05Sky Moore with an opening, and Moore on the run!
00:08One man to beat, and it's the kicker, Ryland!
00:10He'll blow by him!
00:12Moore on the move to the goal line, lunging and down at the two!
00:19Keitrell Clark saves a touchdown, but Sky Moore all the way to the two.
00:26It's first and goal for Brock Purdy's return.
00:28From the one, McCaffrey, a jump cut, and in for a touchdown!
00:35And in the blink of an eye, the 49ers have the lead.
00:40Now, back to Dillard and Wibbs on 95-7, the game.
00:44Is that Coogler?
00:45Yep.
00:46That's Coogler with the call, along with Moose.
00:50In the blink of an eye!
00:51And it was on Fox, and wow, was pretty great on that drive, huh?
00:56The way he turned his body and handed the ball to Christian McCaffrey.
01:01Well, he got the snap, too.
01:02Thing of beauty, he did.
01:03Clean snap.
01:03Yeah.
01:04Shout out Jake Brendel back at center, which is kind of nice.
01:08Offensive line is starting to string a couple things together.
01:12Huh.
01:12And if the offensive line play is good, the Niners will score.
01:19Lots of points.
01:21And that's a Brock or a Mack or a whatever.
01:24If you give Kyle Shanahan good offensive line play, you're going to score some points.
01:29So, that's a huge thing.
01:32You know what else I wanted to throw out there?
01:34I mean, maybe this is just inspired by Sky Moore's opening kickoff return.
01:40I know that a lot of us, self-included, wanted, hoped for more to happen at the trade deadline.
01:48But if we just step back for a second and take a look at the things the Niners did do,
01:54when faced with, oh no, our receivers are all hurt.
01:59Or, oh no, our pass rushers are all gone.
02:02So, sure, they were not able to go get the big boom, but the trade for Sky Moore,
02:08as much as he's freaked us out all year, has actually started to really pay off.
02:15And he's held on to the ball.
02:17He hasn't always made the right decision on punts, but he's held on.
02:20He's not made the huge mistake, and now he's starting to play make.
02:24And that's huge.
02:25Keon White, he's making some plays on this defensive line.
02:32Fumble recovery yesterday, and a sack.
02:34And if you want to go to the Scrap Heap people that they picked up,
02:37starting with Kendrick Bourne, and even what we've seen in a short period of time
02:42from Cleland Furrell returning to the team.
02:45Gosh, you know what?
02:47And you didn't mention Brian Robinson, who's not Scrap Heap.
02:50Right, right.
02:51Thank you for bringing that up, too.
02:53Like, these have been good moves.
02:57They're making contributions.
02:58Absolutely.
02:59These have been good moves.
03:00And even Eddie Pinheiro, if you want to put him on the Scrap Heap,
03:04I mean, he wasn't total Scrap Heap, but he was a guy that was just kind of chilling,
03:08and you got him in, and I don't know how long he'll be out.
03:11Hopefully it's not long, but he's been an unbelievable kicker for this team
03:16that desperately needed a kicker.
03:17So, yeah, if you want to talk about trade deadline,
03:21and I do think that we in this business and as fans,
03:25we all over-inflate the importance of doing it at the deadline,
03:30because Keon White and Cleland Furrell, that was a week earlier.
03:33A week before the deadline.
03:34Does that not count?
03:35Just because it wasn't like half an hour to go, it's the deadline.
03:39I actually appreciate, if you can do it before the deadline, do it before the deadline.
03:44Sometimes you have to pay a little bit more for it.
03:46Not for these guys.
03:47You know what I mean?
03:47The Giants got Rafi Devers way, way, way before the trade deadline.
03:51They didn't have to pay more, though, as it turns out.
03:54Well, I mean, who knows what would have been offered.
03:57I have no idea.
03:58But anyway, bottom line is, yeah, no, it counts.
04:02It counts.
04:02You wanted them to see if you could bring in somebody who could be a little bit more of a lead dog,
04:09even if it's not a big name.
04:10I will forever wish they had gotten Will McDonald from the Jets.
04:14And I know that most of our fans, you know, like, I get that Will McDonald is not some sort of household name,
04:21but the deadline passed, and the following week Will had four sacks.
04:25Like, the 49ers don't have anybody who's ever going to have a game like that.
04:29They just don't have anybody like that.
04:31And I would have loved to see them do that.
04:33I have no idea if that was even discussed.
04:35I have no idea what the price was.
04:37I respect the position the 49ers are in and that it's a difficult one to give up future assets
04:43to go after a season that looks like maybe a fun one, but not a Super Bowl year.
04:48So I get all of that.
04:50But if we do just look at the things that they did do,
04:53instead of being upset at the things that they didn't do,
04:56what they did do has been pretty good.
04:59It's been pretty good.
05:00You know what I mean?
05:01Yeah.
05:01How about if you even go back to free agency?
05:03And that they signed Mac Jones.
05:07It's been...
05:08Worked out pretty good.
05:09I think you contributed.
05:11And Demarcus Robinson has been, you know, he's been fine.
05:14He's not that important.
05:16And you mentioned Kendrick Bourne.
05:17And, you know, Kendrick Bourne yesterday wasn't even really that impactful.
05:21And you didn't even really need him to be on the field that much
05:24because you've got Ricky Pierce all back.
05:26And you've got Jawan Jennings, who had a very good game,
05:29catch of the football from Brock Purdy.
05:32So, you're going to do two wide receivers a lot.
05:35And just looking at the snaps yesterday, Kendrick Bourne only played 13 snaps.
05:40Sure.
05:40With Ricky back.
05:41Sure.
05:41Right.
05:42I mean, Ricky was in there for only 41 snaps, which was two-thirds,
05:45I'm sorry, three-fourths of the game.
05:47You only had 54 offensive plays.
05:50Right.
05:51Because you didn't need that many offensive plays.
05:53Yeah, great field position.
05:54And then when you did get the ball, you went bing, bing, bing,
05:56and you scored.
05:57Yep.
05:57Yeah, they really, really, they were humming yesterday, man.
06:00And I thought also, it might have been,
06:03and I don't even have the numbers in front of me.
06:04I should probably pull them up.
06:07Like, what do you want?
06:08I got them here.
06:08What was their overall yards per carry as a team?
06:12I'm seeing it now.
06:133.8?
06:153.8.
06:16Part of that is...
06:17I mean, Matt Jones had three for minus three.
06:19Right.
06:20And Purdy had one for minus seven.
06:22Apparently, they called one of those a rush.
06:24No, it was the broken play.
06:25Yeah.
06:25And I just watched it again this morning,
06:27where he gets the snap, and he looks left, or he looks right,
06:30and he's like, oh, shit.
06:31And the running back went left.
06:32Whoever was supposed to be there wasn't there,
06:34and so he went, like, step, step, step, slide.
06:37So if you take that out and the Mac Jones out,
06:40which is four for minus 10,
06:42now you're looking at 21 for 105.
06:44Yeah.
06:44That's five yards a tote.
06:45And Christian was over six.
06:47He was at 6.2 yards per carry.
06:49And Brian Robinson was...
06:51I thought that he was not as explosive or as physical
06:54as he was last week, but he was fine.
06:58And, yeah, McCaffrey, six yards a carry,
07:00including, and I heard this on the broadcast this morning,
07:03the first rush all year that went for 20 yards or more.
07:08All season long.
07:12Damn.
07:12And it's almost Thanksgiving.
07:14Yeah.
07:14And Brock Purdy, I'm sorry, CMC goes for 20,
07:18and Coogler in his exuberant, excited voice,
07:21that's the first one for 20 or more yards all year!
07:24And I was like, what?
07:25Oh, that's crazy.
07:25And even Moose was like, wait, how could that be in a Shanahan offense?
07:29No joke.
07:29And I didn't go through all my notes, but I was like,
07:31yeah, that sounds about right.
07:33It just felt to me, of all the games,
07:36like the best blend of the ability to run and throw.
07:42Like, if we go even through all the wins,
07:45go to the game against the New York Giants,
07:47they threw it really well.
07:49Yep.
07:49Go to the game against the Falcons,
07:50they ran it really well.
07:54Go to the game against the Rams,
07:57at least in the first half,
07:59they threw it really well.
08:00Yesterday, they were able to do everything.
08:04They were able to do everything.
08:05And I have, like, there's a small list
08:09of what goes into my head as to why.
08:12And yes, being at full strength is one of those reasons.
08:16Yes, playing an inferior opponent is part of that.
08:21Although, can we play with that for a second?
08:25The Cardinals are, look, they're not good.
08:28They're 3-7.
08:29But also, I think if you want to get intricate on this,
08:33we do understand two things.
08:36A, it's a division opponent on the road.
08:38Like, that's hard.
08:39I just, I don't care.
08:40That's hard.
08:42The Ravens against the Browns yesterday.
08:44The Browns trading off rookie quarterbacks,
08:47neither of whom could achieve a first down,
08:49and that game's tied in the fourth quarter.
08:51Road, division games are hard.
08:54What I think happened yesterday is, A, the Niners' offense,
08:58when it's at full strength like this,
09:00and both running and passing, becomes really, really hard to defend.
09:03And B, even the Cardinals, whether they're good, bad, mediocre, whatever,
09:09this was the worst version of them.
09:11But their injuries were largely all on the offensive side of the football.
09:17Their defense, which has been, I don't know, you tell me,
09:21what's their defense ranked this year?
09:24The Arizona Cardinals.
09:25It's probably right in the middle.
09:26They've been fine.
09:28Yeah, they're not, they're not good.
09:30They're not horrible.
09:32If you look at their, like, obviously, last week got completely out of hand.
09:37People go, Seattle busted 44 on them, right?
09:39They had two defensive touchdowns.
09:41You know, if you go back through the weeks,
09:43this is a team that's decidedly okay.
09:47They're very okay.
09:48Yep.
09:49But I, they were healthy.
09:52They were healthy.
09:53They were at home.
09:55And the Niners, with the help of field position, turnovers,
09:59a big special teams play,
10:01their offense moved the ball on them at will.
10:05I mean, pretty much at will, but it was,
10:08they moved it at will, but they benefited by a couple of amazingly short fields.
10:15And so, yeah, and that's football,
10:16where finally the special teams was not only competent,
10:20but they kind of carried the day.
10:22And they set the tone.
10:23You had a one-yard field in your first possession.
10:28Literally a one-yard drive.
10:30Boom.
10:30You're up 7-0.
10:31Awesome.
10:32And then second time you went 70 yards.
10:34Then you went 65 yards.
10:36You had to punt.
10:37Then you got the ball near midfield because, you know,
10:40Arizona went for a 58-yard field goal and they missed.
10:43And so now you get the ball near midfield.
10:44So a lot of it is what we always talk about, complimentary football.
10:48And you don't have to apologize when you get good field position.
10:52And the Diamantor-Lenor interception and subsequent return,
10:56that was awesome.
10:57That was basically seven points.
10:59It was actually, to me,
11:01it was the first, like, real pick that the Niners have had all year.
11:05Oh, the Mustafa one was a real pick.
11:07Right, but the Mustafa one,
11:09the same as the Diamantor-Lenor one in Houston,
11:12were both right before halftime when somebody is trying to push the ball
11:17down the field and just did an out-and-out overthrow,
11:20airmail their receiver,
11:22and you're in the right spot and you catch the ball.
11:24It doesn't mean that they don't count.
11:26But I'm talking like,
11:27dude, a dog made a break on a ball and grabbed it and went the other way.
11:33Niners haven't done that in a year and a half.
11:34It's been a while, yeah.
11:35And they did it yesterday with Demo,
11:37and I was shocked.
11:38Can we talk about the fact that nobody thought he was going to play?
11:42And then he was amazing.
11:43Yep.
11:43He's going for an MRI,
11:45and now he's going down the field.
11:4663-yard return.
11:48Incredible.
11:48What happened there?
11:50I don't know.
11:51Randy, did we get any word on Diamantor-Lenor?
11:54Like, on Friday, it's like,
11:56yeah, no practice, MRI.
11:57On Sunday, wow, there he goes down the field.
12:00What happened?
12:01I don't know.
12:02He's fine.
12:03Got enough to play.
12:03He looks great.
12:05Oregon Ducks are tough.
12:06You know that.
12:06There you go.
12:07There you have it.
12:07There you go.
12:08Bo Nix, ladies and gentlemen.
12:09Troy Franklin, they beat the Chiefs.
12:11Mm-hmm.
12:11Got a babe.
12:12Bo Nix.
12:13Got a babe.
12:14Hey, Bo made a big throw.
12:17Yep.
12:18At the end of that game.
12:20He made, this is a tie game,
12:22and the Broncos are still, like,
12:24in that sort of neighborhood of, like,
12:26how risky can we get?
12:28We're kind of out by the 40-yard line,
12:30and guys don't want to,
12:32oh, don't get risky and give up the field goal,
12:34even though it's a 57-yarder,
12:36and I think it was second and eight,
12:38and Bo dropped back and just dotted.
12:41I think it was Franklin.
12:43It was either Franklin or,
12:45I can't remember which Bronco receiver it was.
12:47It might have been Franklin.
12:48Not Sutton.
12:48No, it was not Corlin Sutton.
12:50Those are my guys.
12:51No, Ingram doesn't ever touch the ball anymore.
12:52No, and Corlin Sutton, like,
12:54they don't really throw to him very often.
12:55Well, now it gets spread out.
12:58They've actually got a receiving core now.
13:00Corlin does okay,
13:01but Evan Ingram is totally out of the deal,
13:03but he dotted someone on a beautiful leverage play
13:07where he saw where the corner was
13:08and threw it in a spot where he couldn't see it,
13:11and it ended the game.
13:13It ended the game.
13:14The Chiefs this year are 0-5 in one-score games.
13:19Huh.
13:21Imagine that.
13:21Remember what they were last year?
13:23They were, I think, 10-1?
13:25Felt like they were 26-0.
13:27Something like that.
13:28In games decided by less than two points.
13:31And it's always interesting,
13:32and this is something I learned from Joe Fortenbaugh
13:35a long time ago, former radio partner,
13:37and now he's kind of a big-time guy,
13:40but turnover margin and also one-score game record,
13:45these things, they even out over time.
13:47So even if you're a good team,
13:49you're not going to always win one-score games,
13:51and if you're a bad team,
13:53you're not always going to have a bad turnover margin.
13:55These things kind of go, they ebb and they flow,
13:58and the Niners yesterday were a plus-three
14:00in the turnover margin.
14:02Now they're minus-five for the year.
14:04They're getting closer to where the record would indicate they should be.
14:08Yeah, and I mean, that's what ended up tilting the game
14:10into something that was in no doubt,
14:13was the turnovers, actually.
14:14Because as some people will point out, in fact, here it comes.
14:18I see you, 415.
14:19Thank you for listening.
14:20Boxer and Gerson, work injury attorney's text line.
14:22I'm a huge Niner fan,
14:24but how come we're not talking about the fact
14:25that we gave up 488 total yards of offense
14:29against the Cardinals?
14:30Well, let's talk about that a little bit.
14:32Yeah, let's.
14:32I think that both things are true.
14:36A, part of that was game script and situational,
14:41which is that the 49ers are up by two or three scores,
14:46three scores by halftime,
14:47with the field goal that Pinheiro made
14:49because the Cardinals committed one of their 8,000 penalties.
14:52And so they're up by three scores.
14:55So, yes, the Cardinals are going to move the ball up and down.
14:58They're going to throw the ball constantly.
15:01The Niners are going to be in a defense
15:02that is forcing you to just use the clock.
15:05But the other side of that is,
15:07if what you're saying with that text is,
15:09I'm concerned that the 49ers can't stop anyone,
15:13you're right.
15:15Like, yeah, you're right.
15:17And they lost Tatum Bethune now for a few weeks, too.
15:21So, Curtis Flippin' Robinson
15:23is your starting most important linebacker, if you will.
15:27Fred Warner's replacement.
15:29Those of you who wanted Nick Martin on the field,
15:32here he comes.
15:33Here you go.
15:34Here he comes.
15:34He's on yesterday.
15:35He made some good plays.
15:36He made some bad plays yesterday.
15:38He's in a mixed bag.
15:39Like, I joked, but I mean this.
15:43Start your fantasy people in Niner games.
15:46Their offense is at full strength,
15:48and I believe if their offensive line blocks
15:50the way they are right now,
15:52they're going to be really good.
15:53They're going to score a lot of points.
15:55But, yes, the other team will, too.
15:58Especially if the other team is competent.
16:01I don't know if Cleveland's going to move the ball.
16:03I don't know if the Niners will move the ball.
16:05That becomes an interesting game down the road.
16:07That one's different.
16:08Because Cleveland's defense is going to be one that I think
16:11is going to challenge this Niners O-line
16:12and this Niners offense even at their best.
16:15But you mentioned Carolina during the break,
16:17and Carolina suddenly got hot,
16:19and Bryce Young threw for 400-something yards himself.
16:23I won a couple fantasy games yesterday
16:25because Tett McMillan,
16:26where do you see the rookie from Arizona?
16:29I'd start him.
16:30Oh, he's good.
16:31He's really good.
16:32He's not just good.
16:33He's going to go against a 49er defense.
16:36Now, he'll get Demo.
16:37He'll get Lenore a lot.
16:39But at the same time,
16:40they've also got Xavier Leggett now,
16:42this big physical freak on the other side.
16:46Coker is healthy.
16:48They've got a receiving core,
16:49and they're going to cook.
16:51I think the Niners will win that game.
16:53You said that they're already a seven-point favorite.
16:56Monday night, I already checked the weather.
16:58Long-term forecast.
16:59Looks like it's going to be pretty clean.
17:01Should be good out there at Levi's Stadium Monday night.
17:03Fast track out there, yeah.
17:04Yeah.
17:05So, like, let's play.
17:07But, yes, bet the over.
17:09Yeah.
17:10Like, that's where we are.
17:12Well, and it's not like the Niners' defense is a complete sieve.
17:15And even if you look at yesterday,
17:17Arizona got 12 yards in the first drive.
17:19They punted.
17:20Then they went 72 for a touchdown.
17:23Then they went three yards, missed a field goal.
17:25They went 71 yards for a touchdown.
17:28They went eight yards, and they punted.
17:30You kind of get it,
17:31where it's not every single drive the Niners are just susceptible.
17:35And part of yesterday was an unbelievable avalanche of penalties.
17:40Which is why some of those three and outs were three and outs,
17:43because they kept making first and 10, first and 20,
17:46second and five, second and 15.
17:47Yeah, I'm looking here, third and five became third and 10.
17:52The second drive, the third drive, second and seven,
17:56turned into second and 12.
17:57There you go.
17:58And then, you know, Keyon White tips a pass,
18:00and then now you have to settle for a field goal.
18:02And, yeah, on and on and on.
18:03And the other one was third and nine.
18:06Green with the roughness, the unnecessary roughness.
18:09After the play, Arizona was going to punt the ball.
18:12They sure were.
18:13And then they didn't have to, because Renardo Green lost his cool.
18:17But Arizona still, they had to struggle,
18:19and they kicked a field goal at the end of that drive.
18:21Yep.
18:22888-957-9570.
18:24Steve Kerr is going to join us in about eight or nine minutes.
18:26And then we really would love to hear from you on sort of what popped to mind.
18:31Like, I just would like to say this, and I wonder kind of what the, you know,
18:38like, go into your gut here and tell me what it felt like to watch that game yesterday.
18:45I'm well aware, as we all are, of what's going on on the defensive side of the football.
18:51They have lost pretty much all their people.
18:55They're right, like, from Fred Warner to Nick Bosa to now Michael Williams and Tatum Bethune,
19:01and the safety position has been an adventure all year,
19:04and they're just not equipped on the defensive end.
19:06They're going to have to do their best to get a few stops,
19:09kind of like what Dibbs is talking about right now.
19:12But the offensive side of the football yesterday for me,
19:16that was the first time since, I don't know, halfway through last year, maybe.
19:23You know, even, well, Christian didn't play much of last year.
19:27It had been a long time since the offensive side of the football felt like that.
19:32It felt like 49er football.
19:34First half of week one this year is probably when it was.
19:38Yeah, but I mean.
19:39Until Kittle got hurt.
19:39Exactly.
19:40And Kittle got hurt.
19:41And then, as we know, like Purdy, we didn't realize it, but Purdy got hurt.
19:45And Purdy played the second half of the Seattle game with the foot problem
19:48and apparently played the Jacksonville game with the foot problem.
19:52He didn't look like he had a foot problem yesterday.
19:54I still think he looks a little hesitant to take off.
19:57And he did say that that's what hurts is just the running, not the planting and throwing.
20:03But that was my thought on the couch yesterday.
20:07Had super comfy pants on.
20:10Had my kids sitting next to me.
20:11And I'm like, that's the Niner offense.
20:15That's what they can look like when it's really humming.
20:20They've been good at times, whether it's Purdy, Mack, whatever.
20:23They've had their moments.
20:24They've had their not.
20:25And even this goes into last year.
20:27But we all know, we remember what the Niner offense looked like two years ago.
20:31Yesterday kind of felt like one of those games.
20:34And it was evident quickly that the Purdy 30 was going to happen.
20:39It was quickly evident.
20:40Right.
20:40Not that he gets the credit for it.
20:43No.
20:43That's what I'm saying.
20:44And they wound up with 41 points.
20:47And so the team scores points.
20:49And sometimes it's the defense.
20:51Sometimes it's special teams.
20:52But it's all done by the team.
20:54And so was the offense really humming?
20:57At times they were.
20:58Yeah.
20:59They didn't have a lot of pushback.
21:01They only had eight third downs that they faced all game long.
21:04And they only converted three of them.
21:06And so they weren't really behind the sticks ever.
21:09They weren't really pressed in any real way.
21:12They had the lead from play number one from scrimmage.
21:15So, I mean, yeah, the offense looked good.
21:18They didn't put up gaudy numbers.
21:20McCaffrey was effective running it.
21:22You didn't have to have much more than that.
21:25Purdy didn't have to throw for a bunch of yards because you had a lot of short fields.
21:28But when you got the ball, you scored a lot of times.
21:31You didn't turn it over.
21:32So, yeah, effective and efficient.
