00:00One of those things that, a little bit strange, but let's just get the racing going.
00:04I think it's going to be pretty much a two-horse race between Luke Clout and Anthony Bourdon.
00:08They were the fastest guys. There's the Motul 15 second board.
00:13And this first race of the evening, the races get a little bit longer.
00:20Five minutes plus the lap this first race.
00:22The gate goes, Clout on the number 4, 250, but it's Borrome who leads the way on the 172 over the Milwaukee Hull Shop.
00:34Borrome leading the way, Clout there in second on that Kawasaki in orange, third.
00:40Alongside him, I think just moving into third is the 744 of Saad Soleimani on the TM.
00:45And then we've got Bourdon trying to nip up the inside into that third place and spooks him.
00:50Oh, Clout very close as he came in to land there.
00:53But Bourdon does move into that third place. Great move.
00:56Yeah, it was. And Clout did a fantastic job of sneaking up the inside.
00:59As he tried to make another move on Borrome there, he did not have to jump, but he's a wily veteran.
01:04He knew if he just stuck to the inside, he'd be okay.
01:07Ooh, Borrome comes up way short.
01:08Oh, how did Clout miss Borrome there?
01:13One side of the track to the other. Borrome goes from the lead.
01:17Clout takes over.
01:20And onto that step on, step off. This is the section we were talking about.
01:23If you can quad into there, but they are jumping long into the berm, the 450 guys.
01:28Yeah, a lot of mistakes. You just wonder if it's, you know, the jumps are all have been reshaped.
01:32Is there just some inconsistency there? Because that's been multiple big mistakes
01:36by whoop Clout, who's usually fairly mistaken three. And then Borrome, who's already had
01:40a big crash today. But I think just some of the newness of the track catches them out.
01:44Whoops are absolutely monstrous.
01:48Look at Jake Cannon on the Kawasaki getting past there with the yellow helmet on the butt.
01:52Racing Kawasaki fell there in the time practice session earlier. His hand came off the bar and he went down.
01:57But his teammate this weekend, who's been riding in Australia as well, and then obviously riding here.
02:04Who's that that's gone down? The 27 of Hugo Manzato on the Husqvarna, the Frenchman.
02:09That's the sand we were talking about. Unpredictable. A thin layer of sand on top of a clay base.
02:15Especially the line really hasn't been worked in yet. So the front tire is going to be pushing
02:19all the way through that section. Well, this was a battle that we said
02:22would be tight between Clout and Bordon. Clout got the better start. Bordon had to fight through
02:26a couple of riders. He's got himself into second. And the Honda rider looking ready to pounce on
02:32the Australian who, when I spoke to him today, he was glad to be back on a 250. It's been a couple of years,
02:37two or three years or so, that he was last on a 250. And on the media day on Friday,
02:42you could see that he'd been a little bit rusty in terms of that 250 action because he was
02:46wanting the power to come out to get him to drive over the whoops. It wasn't happening. So he's
02:49really having to ride his way back into a little bit of memory muscle on this machine to get familiarity.
02:54Yeah, and some of his line choices, you can tell that he's thinking like a 450 rider. He's kind of
02:58cutting a lot of the corners short, drawing really tight apexes, and that's leaving him short on some of the
03:03bigger jumps. See how quickly the track is drying out as well. Just starting to slick up as they
03:08came in at the end of the landing there. Over the finish line, triple into this right-hander.
03:13Who is quicker through the whoops? Bordon in second or Clout. Clout has the advantage that time around,
03:19able to hop out over the last three. Nothing in it between them though. Doesn't matter about the lap
03:26times. These two are locked together a bite length apart. There's that triple.
03:29Triple. Would you say that's a quad or a triple at the end there? I would say quad. That's a highly
03:34debated topic. You're walking into dangerous waters there with that question, but I would say quad.
03:40Anyway, onto this rhythm again. Is there going to be a move? Not quite. Close enough.
03:45And Clout was the middle of the line there, middle of the track. So it went nice and defensive,
03:50but not so much that he was going to be compromised on the exit. Good responses actually. What have we got
03:57left? A minute and a half plus a lap. Almost folded the front in that right-hander. Yeah, for Bordon here,
04:05he needs to be thinking about where can he make a pass. We talked about this section that they're
04:08entering right now. That could possibly be one, but first things first, he needs to close the gap.
04:13The French-based Moroccan Saad Soleimani on the TM here. 7-4-4. He is ahead of Calvin Fonvier, the
04:23red plate holder, the championship leader in SX2. Remember, he's got a one-point lead over Michael Hicks,
04:30who's not here this weekend, but that doesn't matter. Fonvier still got to go out and score points because we
04:34don't know how the average point score from Hicks will kind of come into play after the final round a
04:39week from now, so he's got to go out and execute no matter what. Bordon gaining momentum again, Jason.
04:46Closing it down, he has to get to his rear wheel if he hopes to make a pass here. I'm still not
04:50exactly sure where the move will come from if he's able to pull it off. I think Rhythm going into turn
04:55two on the opposite side of the arena into that left. If he can get close enough to him entering the
05:03loops and just go up the inside and meet him at the apex that corner, that's another spot, but it seems
05:08like it's going to have to be a little bit aggressive. End of this next straight if he's
05:11close enough. There we go. He's perfectly on off. He's got good drive through here. He's going to
05:15jump long to the inside, and there is the move up the inside. Great call. You could see it was coming.
05:20That was really the first major place that it was going to go down. Clout now, though, looking to go
05:26around the outside. Tries to respond immediately. Can't find a way back through at the moment, but then he
05:31responds with a similar move, but doesn't get the momentum through the loops. Is that all she wrote?
05:39Did the one that Borde go out there, or was there time?
05:43Still on the clock as they hit, as we were watching that move into that final turn.
05:49But Bordeaux lost out on the Prince of Paris, tied on points for Tom Vial a year ago.
05:54He's shown his hand here so far in his first race.
05:59Yeah, that was perfectly executed. Clout's not tripling on to that tabletop, and you don't think
06:03it loses much time. It's just enough to allow Bordeaux to get to the inside.
06:08So a couple of corners to go then. I imagine the flag is about to go out. The checkers goes out for
06:15Bordeaux, who wins race one. Clout second, 1.3 behind. Still a good effort from the Aussie. Back on a
06:22250, not easy after riding the last two or three years on a 450, but this one's going to be fun
06:27and games for the next five races over the course of the weekend, JT. Yeah, they seem like the class
06:32of the field, but if we get more racing like that, the rest of the weekend, I think everybody's going to have
06:37the money's worth. So Anthony Bordeaux wins it then from Luke Clout. Calvin Von Vier found his way
06:43past Saad Soleimani on the final lap to move into third. Jules Pietre comes home in fourth. Kalena Humphrey,
06:49the Brit on the Stark. So the e-bike there in sixth position. We'll talk about him in a moment.
06:56Jake Cannon, seven. Andrea Bonifacio, eight. Julian Lebeau, nine. Paul Bloy of Germany in 10th on the
07:02Triumph. Still waiting for some of those riders to come home. But riders like Dorian Koch, Enzo Polias,
07:12Michael Lamarck, Cyril Elsner, Hugo Manzato, who fell from around about fifth or sixth early on.
07:17Matisse Borrome, who got the whole shot, and then he eventually comes home. He only did one lap,
07:21so there must have been issues for him somewhere that we didn't see. And then Kylian Vincent
07:26picking up 18th place. But the win, Anthony Bordeaux. This was the Milwaukee whole shot.
07:32So Borrome to the outside. I wonder if he had a feeling the effects of that crash.
07:36Clout up the inside there. But again, lost drive on the exit. Yeah. But he really was in no position
07:42at all to have a great start, but he knew that inside would pan out. Yeah, and see Fonvier there
07:48having three, four goes on the clutch number 11 as he gets swamped by Borrome and Soleimani
07:53alongside him on the 744. And then some of the highlights of the race here, just some of the
08:00slow-mo images. That's how tight it was, that battle between Clout and Bordeaux. Great racing.
08:05And here is Luke Clout with the Milwaukee whole shot. Good day, mate. First race, first Milwaukee
08:11whole shot. Yeah, it was a pretty good race. I definitely was nervous. The crowd is insane. So
08:18I could hear them cheering on Anthony when he was behind me. So that was such a cool race. I'm
08:23so excited to be here. And I just want to say, uh, mercy, Parry. Thank you.
