00:01:37Tonight, our eight couples dance for their place in Blackpool.

00:01:42All of our Romanian celebrities have already scored nines or tens so far this series.

00:01:47Everyone is worthy of dancing on that world-famous floor.

00:01:51But who makes it there really is down to you.

00:01:53And four people whose fish and chips order is already sorted.

00:01:58For reference, it's two cods, a haddock and a battered sausage.

00:04:13Seven celebrities will make it through to next week and dance in a place that means so much to everyone here on Strictly.

00:04:22It's the home of ballroom dancing, and before our celebrities perform, this is why we cannot wait to return.

00:04:32The Blackpool Tower ballroom is important to every person who dances around the world.

00:04:38Every dancer wants to set their foot on that magical floor.

00:04:42It's like no other experience you'll get in any other place.

00:04:45It is the home of ballroom and Latin dancing.

00:04:55Blackpool is so special to me because I've been going there since I was seven years old.

00:05:00The minute I step into the ballroom, I go all fuzzy and warm inside.

00:05:05For me, it's just the best place on earth.

00:05:08I was 14 years old when I got to represent Great Britain at the World Championships at Blackpool.

00:05:15So this is me in the red, and you can see the blonde, kind of grey-haired lady that's like waving her flag.

00:05:22That's my grandmother, which, you know, holds a special place to my heart because she's not here anymore.

00:05:27At the age of 14, that was the first time myself and Luba entered the Tower ballroom.

00:05:35You really feel the presence of the past iconic dancers.

00:05:40I just feel like I'm stepping into a bit of history, and it's so cool.

00:05:46My fondest memories of dancing at Blackpool on Strictly Come Dancing, the Anne Whittacombe Samba.

00:05:56People on the street, waiting outside, could hear the screams from the ballroom as I did the famous bum spin.

00:06:04That's basically my Strictly Come Dancing life right there.

00:06:10Blackpool is bigger, is better, is more dramatic.

00:06:14Extra people dancing in every single couple's numbers, just extra, extra, extra.

00:06:19On my first year, Ed came down on a piano that was set on fire from the ceiling.

00:06:26Iconic.

00:06:27The first time I ever stepped onto that dance floor, I have to say, it felt monumental.

00:06:33From my township in South Africa to Blackpool, a dream realised right in front of my eyes.

00:06:40It was beautiful.

00:06:42I think my very first time with Abbey Clancy, it was absolutely brilliant.

00:06:47There is no better feeling than standing on that floor with your celebrity.

00:06:51The art in contango I did with Angela Scanlon.

00:06:54Only two of us, but we made us such big floors, so intimate.

00:06:58It's such a beautiful dance.

00:07:00It's really fun being a judge in Blackpool.

00:07:02Everybody's bringing their best game.

00:07:11Oh, I loved it.

00:07:13There's an energy, there's a fire, there's a passion in the air.

00:07:17And there's a 600-strong audience cheering everyone on.

00:07:25Some of the best dancers that have ever graced this earth have also danced on that floor.

00:07:30Knowing how special that place is for dancers, it would be incredible to be able to give that gift to our celebrities.

00:12:51It was a little safe. That was all and I would want it a little bit more of that positivity

00:12:56You showed last week to transfer itself into this dance

00:13:00It was a little safe, but it was all neat and tidy so I enjoyed the performance

00:13:06I just needed just a little bit more power

00:13:08But your musicality as I said was a joy and your characterisation was absolutely lovely

00:13:20Slightly on occasion also your frame occasionally was a bit

00:13:26You need to watch your recovering arm when you're coming down from a lift because that has to continue the flow with the music as well

00:13:33And I would like to seen a little bit more punch when you punched out the drum section of that

00:13:38You know the freestyling bit, but you know you always dance with conviction

00:13:43And that's what I love about you and you're the most beautiful storyteller as well

00:13:51Yeah, I think really the balance of the

00:13:57performance was a little bit a problem for me I think just only because your strong parts are so so strong your solar parts are so so strong and then

00:14:08the minute you guys get together there's a slight carefulness so it's not all the time everywhere

00:14:14It's just when you dance together. I see that you're trying very hard to show the technique and that takes it a little bit away of your performance skills

00:14:22Because I think you are wonderful. You have a light in you that is absolutely

00:14:27Shining and if it just goes a little bit dim then we miss that

00:14:31Charisma that you you give but as Craig said the punch moments the end were really really strong

00:14:41Well several weeks ago. I asked you to be really quite neat with your feet

00:14:45So I was quite pleased with that part and also

00:14:47Also, it takes a lot of courage and here we are the week before blackpool and up you go and you're doing your lifts and you're swinging round

00:14:55So I can see that you're starting to really feel comfortable with your partner and for me

00:15:00The next part to work on is the resistance in the arm and the beautiful free flow from the upper half of the body

00:18:11Then the Spanish with the bull fighting together with the flamenco and that's what we started to go

00:22:27I mean every time you guys dance it's a highlight I love the fact that every single dance looks so different and you get full into the dance there's one thing showing us drama but being able to keep the presence the presentation going through this song and really timing it so well great choreography I could usually when somebody's dancing I'm like okay oh okay I couldn't I had to put my pen down because I was so involved I

00:22:57want that I want you to keep me looking at you and interesting interested at you there was just tiny little turns here where I was like hmm what is but then you put so much drama on it that I was like no this is perfect this is absolutely stunning thank you Maxine thank you she said perfect Shirley well it's been two tiny parts for me I would have liked to have seen a little bit more side stretch and a little bit more you outside the frame particularly on your twist turns so that your head is outside the frame

00:23:27having that aside the way you use your arms when you turn I'm constantly working on with with girls and it's very difficult to do you demonstrated exquisitely I love the way you take your skirts when you run across the floor very difficult to coordinate you did it exquisitely coming through the picture frame selling the story line wasn't that story line we love it all in all very good

00:23:57you know it was thrilling to watch it really was because I love I love nothing more than speed changes so it's all dramatic here and you wander around over there and it's all like that and it's all fast and then you go and then you walk away over there like that frocky frocky frocky frocky I love that and wham the back bend over there and over there

00:24:38I agree with Shirley I think there could have been a little bit more shaping through the tour so just sort of on the side plays pieces but my goodness you are so clean

00:55:35My sister sang it at my granddad's funeral

00:55:37And it doesn't just sort of remind us of him

00:55:39It reminds us of being together as a family

00:55:42When I was younger my parents and my sister and I used to go to a place called Folly Farm

00:55:48Our dance is going to be set on a farm like this one

00:55:52This is a place that is only sort of happy memories

00:55:56Where there wasn't any real troubles or problems

00:55:58When I was 16 I was just about to leave for hockey practice with my dad

00:56:04And he said oh I'll just check on mum one more time because she was feeling a bit ill

00:56:08And he went upstairs and she was having a seizure

00:56:10She was diagnosed with a brain inflammation called encephalitis

00:56:15Encephalitis is something that I had no idea what it was

00:56:20And most people who do know what it is is because it's affected them in a sort of horrible way

01:15:42So my parents were both nurses and they owned an old people's home.

01:15:46And I grew up in the old people's home.

01:15:48When I used to go to bed, they used to say goodnight to like the most amazing group of grannies ever.

01:15:53And I loved it growing up in that.

01:15:54I was doing shows as a kid to the old people from the age of like eight or nine.

01:15:59Christopher loved to entertain.

01:16:01And he would often dress up and sing and dance.

01:16:04He just loved being with the elderly people.

01:16:08We were so proud of him.

01:16:12I started in the pubs and clubs.

01:16:14I auditioned at Madame Jojo's in Soho as a singer.

01:16:18And they said, you do know it's going to have to be in drag.

01:16:20And it grew from there, really.

01:16:22And then I thought, why don't I make my own character?

01:16:25This is one of the first ever things I had made.

01:16:28And I thought it was amazing.
