00:41He's going to get it, and he's already trying to put gap between him and Lopes on the 16,

00:50Great start for Lopes and for Schock.
00:52And Schock in third.
00:53Schock trying to get inside of Lopes.

01:08Race number two at BC Place for Essex 2.

01:14Colin Park covered that.
01:16Thompson goes inside, but Colin Park definitely played some good defense.
01:19But Thompson gets it.

01:22Yeah, but can he stay there?
01:23He's just in front of him right now.
01:25Oh, it cuts across in front of him.
01:27Park's not going to like that.
01:28Maybe that's what Colin Park was talking about through that rhythm section.

01:37It definitely looked like that Thompson changed up his line through there.
01:42So here they are.
01:44So you would be upset about that as well, Jeff?
01:46Well, it seems like Park is.
01:48And, you know, he's peppering him here, trying to make his way past.
01:53But Thompson is super motivated also.
01:54And maybe that's what both riders needed is to have this little personal battle between each other
01:59to sort of give them a little extra motivation.
02:03Well, let's keep an eye on it.
02:04This is that fight for fourth.
02:06These two have been going at it all throughout race number one.
02:09And they're picking right up where they left off in race number two for Essex 2.
02:14Anstey, meanwhile, leading as we approach already the halfway point in this eight-lap event.
02:20Here's Max right there.
02:21Yeah, 1.3.
02:22So a nice little lead, no real pressure.
02:25You can still probably hear a little engine behind you.
02:27So you've got to respect second and third.
02:29But the way he's riding right now, Jeff, is just phenomenal, tight, no mistakes.
02:34And shocking Enzo Lopes.
02:35Look, they look great, too.
02:37But Anstey's just a little bit quicker, probably in the whoops section.
02:40He's just itching away.
02:41Yeah, little by little.
02:42But both of those Arby's wear racing bikes running second and third.
02:49I mean, they've been really impressive so far in this championship.
02:56They're going to try to hang on to the final podium spots here.
02:59We're about halfway through this race.
03:01Park is starting to lose a little bit of ground to Thompson.
03:05Thompson was jumping through the whoops, and Park was trying to blitz through them.
03:09I don't know if that's making that much of a difference, but it did on that last lap.
03:12It's ironic you've got Peters and Hicks right here on your screen, two riders that have
03:20raced quite a bit together in what's called Arena Cross, so a smaller version of this
03:25in the United States.
03:27These two guys have gone head-to-head, and now here they are, stuck together like Velcro,
03:32just like Park and Thompson.
03:35Yeah, Hicks really having to wrestle that start through the whoops there, the electric
03:39bike.
03:40Meanwhile, Anstey continues to lead.
03:42Shock lopes, and then it's still Thompson just in front of Park fighting over fourth.
03:49So we watch that battle here again.
03:51Great lap for Shock, 56-0.
03:53He caught half a second onto Anstey, so he's closing back up, only down 1.6, but these
03:57two in the exact same position they were last race.
04:00Park's lost a little bit.
04:02Thompson's got these great defensive lines, a lot of insides.
04:05He's playing really good defense, and that's probably what's frustrating, Park, too, is
04:09he can't really make a run on them anywhere except for the whoops, but Thompson jumping
04:133-3-3 right in front of him.
04:15Yeah, but look how tight the top five is right now.
04:18They're only separated by 4.8 seconds.
04:20I mean, we thought Anstey was going to check out last time around.
04:24Shock had the fastest lap.
04:25Lopes was the second fastest.
04:28Now look how tight and close Thompson and Park are to them.
04:32And that battle's starting to heat up again a little bit.
04:35Park is starting to reel back in on Thompson.
04:39He's just about two bike lengths behind as they come over the finish line.
04:42Inside he goes, and Park is around him.
04:46You know, Thompson was a little more worried than he needed to be right there.
04:49I think Park in the air kind of had accepted that it wasn't going to be a full-blown dive
04:53in the inside takeout, but Thompson kind of lets up in the berm.
04:57He might look back on that one, Jeff, and say, I think I probably gave that one away.
05:01Yeah.
05:01A little afraid.
05:02Didn't need to be.
05:03And look at Park.
05:03Picking up on that inside line.
05:04Real smart.
05:05So good riding.

05:08Well, I don't think these two are done, and I don't think that the race
05:12for the lead is done because shock is all over Anstey going through the Wolves right now.
05:17Yeah, here they come.
05:18There's Lopes, too, as well.
05:20He sits in third.
05:20Meanwhile, Park.
05:21Oh, big problems through the Wolves.
05:23Thompson looks inside.
05:24That mistake very costly for Park as Thompson gets by on the number two.
05:29All that work.
05:30All that work to get him to get it right back.
05:32And the Wolves, Park.
05:33He's coming back.
05:34He came right back on him.
05:35And guess what?
05:36Park is back around.
05:37Just tripled past him.
05:39What a line by Colin Park.
05:40But he's got to separate himself from Thompson right now so he can focus on the top three.
05:46That mistake and those little passes back and forth has.
05:50Whoa, that was.
05:51Oh, that was not close.
05:54Yeah, it's.
05:54He's not riding real smooth, and that keeps giving Thompson an opportunity to get back at him
05:59as we approach the final lap here.
06:01Yeah, and look at the gap now between Lopes and Park.
06:05It's huge.
06:05And the gap between Anstey and Schock is to a second, so Cody Schock nipping away while
06:13the action's here.
06:13Peters and Hicks staying in this battle, too, because of their back and forth.
06:17And they're holding sixth and seventh, Peters and Hicks.
06:22Still Anstey, Schock, lobes out front.
06:24One, two, three.
06:25Park and Thompson still squabbling over fourth.
06:27And Peters and Hicks trying to settle who's going to get sixth.
06:30On to the final lap now.
06:31Max Anstey back out in front and continuing to dominate an SX2 in 2025.
06:38Guys, we are about to complete the fifth SX2 race of 2025, and Max Anstey has been perfect
06:47so far this season.
06:49Unbelievable.
06:50Yeah, and I feel like watching him ride, yes, Schock and Lopes have been right there,
06:55putting in fantastic rides here in race two.
06:59But I also feel like Anstey has the confidence in himself that even if they got close, he's
07:05not going to worry about it, right?
07:08He's not going to...

07:14Anstey is just absolutely in control.
07:16He has just got this all locked up.
07:19Everything about his program right now is all set on destroy the field, and he's doing
07:24it as Max Anstey lights the candles to take another win in 2025 in SX2 competition.
07:31He's five for five, looking to sweep the night here at BC Place in Vancouver a little later
07:38on when we get to the third and final race of the day.
07:41And this time around, Park gets the better of Thompson.
07:46As Thompson actually slips back to sixth, but Peter's getting around him right at the finish
07:51to move up to fifth.
