00:00:00Tonight former undisputed
00:00:28heavyweight champion Mike Tyson continues his European tour that began last January
00:00:33in an effort to reclaim the heavyweight throne. During Tyson's first visit to the United Kingdom
00:00:39many of the boxing fans anointed him king despite his controversial past or perhaps in part because
00:00:45of it. The blue-collar industrial city of Glasgow, Scotland population just under one million is the
00:00:51scene of Tyson's latest stuff as their fabled soccer stadium Hampton Park becomes the centerpiece
00:00:57for Tyson's third fight outside the United States. Let's run down tonight's doubleheader
00:01:03for you. In our main event the turbulent on-again off-again career of Mike Tyson resumes as he
00:01:10takes on fellow New York product Lou Savarese in a scheduled 10-round heavyweight fight. Tyson a
00:01:1710-to-1 favorite. But first we'll get things going with our co-feature as Zab Judah the charismatic
00:01:23undefeated southpaw from Brownsville, Brooklyn, same hometown as Tyson, meets unbeaten but unheralded
00:01:28junior winner of England in Judah's first defense of the IVF junior welterweight crown.
00:01:34As evening approaches here at the newly renovated Hampton Park the anticipation builds as the Mike
00:01:41Tyson Roadshow rages on. Capacity for this facility home to the Scottish national soccer team about
00:01:4652,000 and in a soccer mad town with Euro 2000 at hand the Scots still have a place in their hearts for the self-proclaimed baddest man on the planet.
00:01:56They've braved the elements to view a once-in-a-lifetime event. Mike Tyson in their hometown.
00:02:06Hello again everybody. Steve Albert ringside in Glasgow. Tonight's bout was postponed three times before it finally clicked. It started at the Meadowlands of New Jersey, moved to Milan, was rescheduled in Milan and finally landed here in Scotland.
00:02:19And it wasn't until last Friday when the event received final approval from the local city council. Even Tyson's arrival in the United Kingdom was delayed four days so he could attend the funeral of a friend in New York.
00:02:29His postponements of the fight and erratic training have contributed to the growing speculation that his passion and dedication to boxing are waning.
00:02:38Tyson's problems here are generated by relentless efforts to keep him out of the country by politicians and protest groups on matters ranging from his past to concerns over his reported taking of antidepressant medication.
00:02:51All in all, not much has changed since his last visit to the UK. Hold-ups, delays, turmoil, they all seem to be synonymous with Mike Tyson.
00:03:00Right now I'm joined by my ringside partner, former world champion Bobby Chez. And Bobby, under the raindrops here, how have the delays affected Tyson's plans for a title fight?
00:03:10Steve, all the delays can only hurt Mike Tyson's plans for another title shot. It pushes the title shot off longer and longer, which doesn't allow him to be in contention.
00:03:19Secondly, the rust factor settles in. In between each and every fight, there's so much time, he gets a little rusty. And lastly, he never gets into his rhythm or, as I say, in the zone.
00:03:27He needs to keep his body, his fighting machine, well oiled and ready to roll and it's just not staying that way.
00:03:33And through it all, Mike Tyson remains the most visible fighter in boxing today.
00:03:37Right now, let's show everybody the arrivals of both Mike Tyson and Lou Savarese here at Hampton Park for a main event that is basically being viewed as another exercise in confidence building for the former champ in his quest to recapture the title.
00:03:51Mike Tyson, upon his arrival, looking physically fit, but there are questions over his emotional state in light of the recent shooting death of a long-time pal, Darryl Baum.
00:04:00He missed five days training in New York. Lead trainer Tommy Brooks admitted they could have used more time on the gym.
00:04:06Workouts were closed to the public. Tyson has been reserved at times somber, yet despite Tyson's psychological condition.
00:04:13Jay Bright with Tyson since the custom auto days, as you see Lou Savarese making his way in.
00:04:18He told me that the mood will only enhance Tyson's performance tonight.
00:04:23Lou Savarese. He almost put his fight plans on hold as his mother, Carol, recovers from quadruple bypass surgery.
00:04:31Like Tyson, he has to put his heartache aside.
00:04:33An Italian-American Savarese, born of the Bronx, raised in Greenwood Lake, New York, said arrivederci to the big home crowd advantage when this fight moved from Italy to Scotland.
00:04:42In preparation for Tyson, he had sparring partners deliberately fight dirty so he'd be ready for anything, saying he won't be intimidated by Tyson like so many before him.
00:04:52He, in fact, was once bitten on the chest by Nathaniel Fitch seven years ago.
00:04:56He retaliated by trying to kick Fitch in the groin. Savarese, though, better qualified than Tyson's last opponent, not given much chance to pull off the upset here this evening.
00:05:07So the featured fighters are in the house. The arrivals are complete.
00:05:11Let's get a little local flavour right now, a history of Scottish boxing with our British boxing correspondent, Colin Hart.
00:05:19Scottish men may wear kilts, but they are famous for being fierce warriors.
00:05:24The most revered, of course, is William Wallace, who fought the English seven centuries ago under the ring name of Braveheart.
00:05:31Scotland has a small population, but it still managed to produce its fair share of world champion boxers.
00:05:38And every one of them used to hear the scurl of the bagpipes along with the sound of the opening bell.
00:05:44Scotland's first world champion was flyweight Benny Lynch. He won 82 bouts in just seven years.
00:05:51And it's been said if compliments for his slick boxing skills were laid end to end, they'd never reach a conclusion.
00:05:57Sadly, he couldn't handle his fame and fortune, and he died penniless from alcoholism at the age of 33.
00:06:04In the 1970s, there was Jim Watt. Although there have been fighters with more talent, few have been more dedicated.
00:06:11While it took him 11 years to win the lightweight title, his relentless pressure and sheer determination has made him a Scottish favourite.
00:06:19But, in my opinion, Scotland's greatest fighter was Ken Buchanan.
00:06:24Although he lacked a decisive punch, he was one of the cleverest boxers to grace the lightweight division.
00:06:30In his bout against the great Roberto Duran, he was hit with a low blow after the bell to end the 13th round, and he could not continue.
00:06:37Duran, who claims Buchanan was his toughest opponent, never gave the Scotsman a rematch.
00:06:43In his 18-year career, Buchanan won 61 out of 69 bouts, and is the only living British fighter in Boxing's Hall of Fame.
00:06:52Despite Scotland's formidable fighters and long boxing history, it has never hosted a bout that has generated so much money, controversy, and excitement as the one we're about to see tonight.
00:07:04All right, Colin, thank you very much as the rain continues to fall here in Glasgow, Scotland.
00:07:12The fight fans of Scotland, like Lou Savarese, are ready for anything tonight with the always unpredictable Mike Tyson in the house.
00:07:19Tyson, of course, used to be a curiosity because of his explosive skills in the ring.
00:07:23Now it's his erratic behavior in and out of the ring, and his one-punch knockout power that really captures the fans' interest here and just about everywhere.
00:07:32We go back to Colin Hart once again, reporting on Mike Tyson's return to the UK.
00:07:42When Mike Tyson landed on the shores of Great Britain this January, it was a scene of utter chaos.
00:07:48Everywhere he went, there were thousands upon thousands of fans eager to just see and touch the former heavyweight champion.
00:07:58Now, six months later, Tyson is back in Britain and it is a completely different story.
00:08:03Though he has sold more than 30,000 tickets, there is not the same commotion.
00:08:08No longer are thousands of people out on the streets to greet him wherever he goes.
00:08:12There are three main reasons for this.
00:08:14One, there is a massive soccer championship taking place in Europe at the moment.
00:08:19Britain is soccer mad, and that means millions are glued to their TV sets every day.
00:08:24Two, this time, Tyson isn't fighting a British boxer, but a fellow American.
00:08:29And finally, he arrived late and has been reluctant to meet the press.
00:08:34That certainly hasn't helped the promotion.
00:08:37Tyson showed up at his Glasgow Hotel on Wednesday, where he was met by a small but enthusiastic crowd.
00:08:45His camp was confident, if not arrogant, about Tyson's chances against Lou Savarese.
00:08:52I think Savarese is a great opponent for Mike. I personally like Lou, and Mike likes him also, so we are going to try to make it as quick as possible so he doesn't take any punishment.
00:09:03On Thursday, over 200 journalists and TV crews from all over the world attended Tyson's first open press conference, where he spoke eloquently about the recent shooting death of his good friend, Darrell Baum.
00:09:18Yeah, he's my best friend for around 25 years, and it's just, I'm a professional, and he would have wanted me to fight.
00:09:25You know, he's a big advocate of me fighting, a big fan of mine, so I have a big friend of mine, and I'm just happy to be here.
00:09:32And he was very clear and concise about his intentions for tonight's fight.
00:09:37I enjoy doing what I do. I enjoy hurting people. That's what I do for a living. That's what all you guys come to watch me hurt people. That's what I like to do. I mean, I hurt business. I really like it a lot.
00:09:45After the press conference, a relaxed and jovial Tyson headed off to the tough Gallagate section of Glasgow, where he put on a kilt to the delight of the locals.
00:09:56Yesterday, Tyson appeared relaxed and friendly at the weigh-in.
00:10:03As an ardent boxing historian, he had a chance to meet one of his boxing idols, Ken Buchanan, Scotland's Hall of Famer, as he waited for the weigh-in.
00:10:14Ladies and gentlemen, introducing Lou Savarese.
00:10:21241 and one quarter US pounds, 241 and one quarter. He's the one and only former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world known as Mike Tyson.
00:10:3415 stone, 12 pounds, 15 stone, 12 pounds, or 222 US pounds.
00:10:46Though Tyson gives away 19 pounds and six inches to the perennial tough guy Lou Savarese, the local oddsmakers have him a prohibitive favourite.
00:10:56But he will be an even bigger favourite with the Scottish fans here tonight.
00:11:04Tyson being reclusive before his third fight outside the US.
00:11:09But the first two were continents apart in terms of outcome.
00:11:13The first, of course, one of the biggest upsets in boxing when Buster Douglas, a 42-1 underdog, KO'd Tyson in Tokyo for his first loss.
00:11:21And then this past January in Manchester when Tyson floored British pretender Julius Francis five times en route to the lopsided second round TKO.
00:11:32Back here with Bobby Ches.
00:11:33Bobby, is it good for Tyson to be fighting outside the United States as he pursues his ultimate goal, the heavyweight belt?
00:11:40Well, you know, Steve, it could be good in terms of exposure for Mike Abroad.
00:11:43He may raise some new fans.
00:11:45And back home they may be missing and hunger for some of his opponents and some fights.
00:11:49But here's the thing. Mike Tyson is strictly cause and effect.
00:11:52If he fights a great fighter, even a good fighter, performs well and does not derail himself under adversity, then it's good for Mike Tyson.
00:11:58If he folds under pressure, does not fight well or doesn't look well, it's bad for Tyson, regardless of the city, state or country he's in.
00:12:05Well, the latest opponent hoping to derail Tyson's goal is a 6'5 heavyweight named Lou Savarese, who once tried out for the New York Mets as a right fielder.
00:12:15Savarese said he did a backflip when he heard that Tyson finally made it to London earlier this week following rumors that the fight was in jeopardy.
00:12:22Let's hear what Savarese had to say about what he called the biggest fight of his life.
00:12:28My mom and dad, the last thing they wanted me to do was box. I mean, they really didn't want me to do it, but I just, I mean, I followed the sport since I was a kid.
00:12:38I mean, you know, Italians, the old joke used to be either a bricklayer or a fighter when my father was growing up.
00:12:43And I just love the sport. It's given me so many opportunities. I mean, I'm living a dream. I'm just, you know, a kid from the Bronx, and I mean, I'm living a dream.
00:12:51And I feel, you know, a lot of people feel the sport owes them. I feel I owe the sport. I've had so many great opportunities, including this.
00:12:58I mean, here I am in Glasgow. It's been great.
00:13:01Well, now I'm married and I have a kid, so it's, you know, I've actually done some soul searching and some mind searching with that,
00:13:08because you think about it, you know, I'm an analytical guy, unfortunately.
00:13:11But would I want to see my kid a fighter? And that's funny you ask that question, because I've been contemplating that,
00:13:17and people come up to me all the time and say, hey, there's the little champ. And I say, hey, Jess, don't even kid around like that,
00:13:22because, you know, it's a tough sport. I would want to see my son in the Bronx.
00:13:26My driving force has always been my family. Now, to have a son, and I mean, it's just, it really gets me focused.
00:13:33And a crazy night for me, you know, is me and my wife going out maybe renting, you know, maybe renting two tapes,
00:13:39and, you know, maybe not rewinding. That's really living on edge. But that's, you know, that's what I, that's,
00:13:43but that's something I enjoy right now. So, you know, all this hype going on with the fight, it really, it really doesn't faze me at all.
00:13:49I mean, I just, you know, I'm so happy with myself, and I've grown a person that this stuff, you know, it's all great and good.
00:13:55It's all hype. But I know, you know, the bottom line is who's going to go in there and who's going to win the fight.
00:13:59That's what it comes down to.
00:14:02Lou Savarese, in his dressing room, went 36-0 with 30 knockouts before suffering his first loss.
00:14:09A split decision to George Foreman in 97. However, just three and three in his last six.
00:14:13Losing by KO to David Izon following Foreman.
00:14:16Comes off a decision loss to Michael Grant almost exactly a year ago.
00:14:20Savarese floored three times in that fight, twice in the 10th.
00:14:23Tough to root against a guy like this. After Grant was destroyed by Lennox Lewis in April, Savarese called him to offer support.
00:14:34Bobby Chez, your thoughts regarding Lou Savarese in his difficult times in the ring of late.
00:14:41Well, you know, Steve, he said he fought a lot of big guys from Buster Douglas and George Foreman to Mount Whitaker, who was a big man, and Michael Grant.
00:14:48And he felt that fighting all the big fighters took a terrible toll on his body, left him bruised and not able to perform well.
00:14:53He's well rested. This is the best time is right now to fight Mike Tyson.
00:14:57Well, a man who knows a thing or two about both fighters is highly regarded trainer Jesse Reed, who briefly worked with Mike Tyson two years ago and is currently in the corner of Lou Savarese.
00:15:08We go to Jim Gray with Jesse Reed.
00:15:11All right. Thank you very much, Steve.
00:15:13Jesse, Steve just pointed out back in 1998 briefly you were with Mike Tyson. Why didn't things work out? Why didn't you stay?
00:15:19Well, I didn't like all the sideline stuff that was around Tyson, you know, and I felt like some of the comments that were made is almost like I wasn't there.
00:15:29And as a coach, you want to feel like you're important. You want to have the fighters full attention.
00:15:34Was he not listening to you?
00:15:35He was listening to me, but he had a lot of people in there in the gym, which is not good, giving advice and saying, why are you doing this and why are you doing that?
00:15:42And then he brought somebody in there to say that he was going to be my assistant.
00:15:46And I said, it's like painting a painting. You don't just hire an artist and then bring another guy in to finish it.
00:15:51You know, I don't want to. It just wasn't the right setting for me.
00:15:54The money didn't mean that much to me because I didn't want to have flesh money.
00:15:58I wanted to have something that meant something to the kid.
00:16:00I told him that I'm here to help you and to be nice to have somebody help you and get honest money.
00:16:04And that that was my statement. And he says, I'm going to make it with you or without you.
00:16:07And then so I thought to myself that just wasn't the taste for me.
00:16:10Did you feel that there was just too much turmoil there?
00:16:13A lot of turmoil, a lot of hard work that had to be done. And I don't know if it would have gotten accomplished.
00:16:18You made a statement this week that you say that you feel that Mike Tyson thinks he's fighting alone.
00:16:25Can you explain that?
00:16:26Well, I think that he knows because he told me, he says, I know all these guys are here for a payday.
00:16:31And he says, but I like them. I don't care. They're my friends.
00:16:34And I think in his mind, if you ever watch him in the corner, he's not looking eye to eye to his coach or anybody.
00:16:39He's looking right through him. I think he thinks he's fighting on his own.
00:16:42You know, and I think the pressure that's on him and all the people that are targeted at him.
00:16:46You know, I just think it's a horrible situation. I think he brought a lot of it on himself.
00:16:50I think early in his career when he had the right people that he could listen to or had his ear,
00:16:54they all seem to be doing a job to keep him, you know, in an isolated situation.
00:17:00Now he's gotten that freedom and he loves that freedom. And I think he's living on the edge.
00:17:06Do you feel that you can take advantage of that edge with Lou Savarese? And do you give him a shot?
00:17:10I definitely think we have a hell of a shot. I'm very proud to be in this situation
00:17:15because from being one side to the other, I'm happy where I'm at.
00:17:20Lou's a very intelligent young man.
00:17:22I don't think Lou's ever had someone to give him the inches of the game.
00:17:26And I think he's so smart that he's picked up some things that I've worked on that I think will work on Tyson.
00:17:31The name of this game is to throw a lot of punches, you know, keep somebody off balance, work on just short little angles.
00:17:37Holofield had no fear. He wasn't faster. He wasn't stronger, but he was smarter.
00:17:42Lou's a smart man. He's bigger, he's stronger, and he can hit just as hard.
00:17:47Well, we'll find out. You certainly have a lot of confidence.
00:17:49I definitely have a lot of confidence.
00:17:51All right, Jesse. Thank you for your time. We appreciate it.
00:17:53Back outside to you, Steve.
00:17:55All right. Thank you very much, Jim.
00:17:56Jesse Reed not mincing any words.
00:17:58Bobby, is this a reality check from Jesse?
00:18:01Well, with regard to Mike Tyson, Jesse Reed has his opinion and his impressions.
00:18:05With regard to his fighter here tonight, Lou Savarese, I think it's a little bit more hoping and wishful thinking.
00:18:10I'm not sure that Lou Savarese can capitalize as much as Jesse Reed thinks he can.
00:18:14Well, earlier tonight, Colin Hart got the official word on speculation regarding Mike Tyson and promoter Frank Warren.
00:18:22Rumors that Tyson assaulted Warren a few days ago. Once again, here's Colin.
00:18:28I'm here with Lord Brooks of Tremorfa, a member of the British House of Lords, who is also chairman of the British Boxing Board of Control.
00:18:36Jack, all week we've been hearing rumors that Mike Tyson has seriously assaulted promoter Frank Warren. What do you know about that?
00:18:44Absolutely nothing. I know only what I read in newspapers. The same, apparently, as members of the public are reading.
00:18:53I've not been in touch with Mr. Warren or Mr. Tyson, and neither have they been in touch with me.
00:19:00So I'm as much in the dark as you or anyone else, Colin.
00:19:04As a license holder, if Mr. Warren had made a formal complaint about being assaulted by Mike Tyson,
00:19:12would you have stopped Tyson fighting Lou Savarese?
00:19:16Well, this alleged assault was supposed to have taken place just a few days ago, just a few days before the fight.
00:19:23If a formal complaint had been laid before us by anyone who claimed that they had been assaulted by a license holder,
00:19:33then we would have had to have at least an informal hearing to try to get to the bottom of it.
00:19:39I would also like to ask a hypothetical question, if I may.
00:19:43If Frank Warren doesn't make a formal complaint but publicly, in a day or a week or two weeks' time,
00:19:50says he was assaulted by Mike Tyson, would that jeopardize Mike Tyson's fighting in Britain for a third time?
00:19:57Well, Mr. Tyson holds a temporary license from the board and would hold the same kind of license every time he visited Britain.
00:20:05Now, if we were to read an allegation of such serious nature against Mr. Tyson, then whoever made the application, particularly if it were a license holder,
00:20:16we would at least have an informal hearing before any further decision was taken.
00:20:22Thank you very much, Jack.
00:20:25The carnival atmosphere just never lets up.
00:20:28Another area of concern this week is the ever-changing weather here in Scotland.
00:20:31The locals will tell you of an old saying, there's no climate in Scotland, only weather.
00:20:35With that, let's take a look at the weather conditions.
00:20:38And talk about unpredictable. It started off sunny today, then it rained, then it stopped, now it's raining again.
00:20:44The temperature, 50 degrees, and yes, the weather could be a major factor for the fights tonight.
00:20:50And for those of you with internet access, we invite you to log on to show.com and link to the boxing area.
00:20:56Once there, you can score tonight's bouts and watch as your vote is tallied up with those of other participants.
00:21:01The results will also be displayed only on our website.
00:21:05Of course, online scoring is for entertainment purposes only and will not influence the outcome of the fight.
00:21:10Also tonight at 10 p.m. Eastern and 7 Pacific, three-time heavyweight champ Evander Holyfield will be online to discuss tonight's fights,
00:21:18as well as his upcoming fight against John Ruiz on Showtime.
00:21:21So to score tonight's fights and to learn more about upcoming Showtime Championship boxing events, log on to show.com.
00:21:27That's s-h-o-dot-com.
00:21:30All right, let's meet tonight's co-star.
00:21:32We take you into the dressing room of Zabdiel Zabjuda, making his first defense of the IVF junior welterweight title.
00:21:39Against junior winner Judah, 22-0 with 17 knockouts.
00:21:44And in his own words, this young man from Brownsville, Brooklyn is crazy hyped for this fight.
00:21:58Let's get to it as we come to you from ringside.
00:22:01Our opening bout, unbeaten south for Zabdiel Zabdiel, ready to take on relatively unknown but undefeated junior winner out of England for Judah's 140-pound belt.
00:22:10Winner a late replacement for British champion Jason Rowland.
00:22:13Junior winner, the local favorite, first world title shot, but you wouldn't know it by meeting him.
00:22:25Very cocky, not very respectful of Zabdiel.
00:22:29We'll see what happens in just a few minutes.
00:22:31We're set to send it up to our ring announcer, Jimmy Lennon Jr.
00:22:36Ladies and gentlemen, a very good evening to you, and we welcome you to Hampton Park in beautiful Glasgow, Scotland,
00:22:43as it's time for one of our featured attractions of the evening, the IVF Junior Welterweight World Championship.
00:22:50Prepare to welcome the boxers as they make their way to the ring.
00:22:54First, ladies and gentlemen, here is tonight's challenger, undefeated from England, Junior Witter.
00:23:02Junior Witter saying all guys in the gym fight like Zab Judah.
00:23:24He said he'll have problems with me. I gave Nassim Hamed nightmares in sparring.
00:23:28They have one common opponent, South African Jan Bergman.
00:23:32Witter did decision the more experienced, well-ranked Bergman as a latent substitute in only his tenth fight.
00:23:38He took this fight on just two weeks' notice.
00:23:41Only four knockouts in his 15 wins.
00:23:43So the question, Bobby, is can Witter out-slick the slickster?
00:23:47Well, Steve, it appears as if he's going to have to because he doesn't seem to have the power to stop Judah.
00:23:51He's not a big puncher.
00:23:52What he's going to need to do is take Judah into the late rounds, frustrated, and make him miss.
00:23:57He has a very unorthodox style, and he can be effective with it, switching from minute to minute.
00:24:02And the only possibility he has of winning is out-slicking the slickster, but I doubt it.
00:24:06His nickname is Junior the Hitter Witter.
00:24:09Ironically, he is anything but.
00:24:12He is handled by Prince Nassim Hamed's former trainer, Brendan Engel.
00:24:1615-0-2, but just four knockouts.
00:24:21Junior Witter, fighting out of Sheffield, England, in the ring, getting set for the fight of his life against the champion, Zab Judah from Brownsville, Brooklyn.
00:24:33Back up to Jimmy Lattin, Junior, to bring on Zab Judah.
00:24:40And now, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the ring.
00:24:43Here is the undefeated world champion from the United States, Zab Judah.
00:24:49Let's go.
00:24:50Let's go.
00:24:51Let's go.
00:24:52Let's go.
00:24:53Let's go.
00:24:54Let's go.
00:24:55Let's go.
00:24:56Let's go.
00:24:57Let's go.
00:24:58Let's go.
00:24:59Let's go.
00:25:00Let's go.
00:25:01Let's go.
00:25:02Let's go.
00:25:03Let's go.
00:25:04Let's go.
00:25:05Let's go.
00:25:06Let's go.
00:25:07Let's go.
00:25:08Let's go.
00:25:09Let's go.
00:25:10Effervescent, skillful, strong, just 22.
00:25:11Interesting storyline.
00:25:12All the marketable qualities can range from Junior Welter to perhaps middleweight someday.
00:25:16Already labeled Pernell Whitaker with power as Zab Judah.
00:25:19Extraordinary amateur career, altered on the 96th U.S. Olympic team.
00:25:23Overcame his first knockdown in his last fight with a fourth round knockout of Jan Bergman,
00:25:28aforementioned for the vacant title.
00:25:30Won his last six by knockout.
00:25:32Already developing an aura.
00:25:34Big article about Zab and his relationship with his dad and trainer Yoel in the New York Times this past week.
00:25:39Bobby, a kid that seems destined for fame and fortune as a former champion.
00:25:45What would you tell Zab to keep him kind of grounded?
00:25:48You know, Steve, the thing I'd impress upon him most is to stay focused.
00:25:51His confidence is great, but sometimes overconfidence leads to careless mistakes as it did in the Bergman fight.
00:25:57He got dropped being careless.
00:25:58To his credit, he got up and he took care of business, but it won't always be that easy as he steps up in class.
00:26:03The mistakes will be much more costly.
00:26:05Stay focused.
00:26:06Get the job done.
00:26:07Have fun after him.
00:26:08One of seven fighting brothers, ages 8 to 24.
00:26:15His father, Yoel, raising his children as Israelites.
00:26:22You see the Jewish star on his hat.
00:26:25Sometimes he wears them on his trunks.
00:26:30Zab Judah in the ring as we get to check the numbers right now.
00:26:33We go to the tail of the tape.
00:26:35Judah four years younger.
00:26:37The height almost even at yesterday's weigh-in.
00:26:39Judah and Witter both under the limit.
00:26:41But Witter nearly 13 pounds more at fight time at 152 and a five inch reach advantage for Judah.
00:26:49And the key rules for this IBF championship fight.
00:26:52There is no standing eight, no three knockdown rule.
00:26:55A fighter cannot be saved by the bell in any round.
00:26:57If an accidental headbutt occurs before the end of the fourth round, it's a no contest.
00:27:02After the end of the fourth, we go to the scorecards.
00:27:05So here at Hampton Park in Glasgow, Scotland, where the rain has presently stopped.
00:27:12But the weather has a way of changing from moment to moment here in Scotland.
00:27:19We're getting ready for the IBF Junior Welterweight Championship.
00:27:23Zab Judah versus Junior Witter.
00:27:26And we're set for the official introductions from our ring announcer, Jimmy Lennon Jr.
00:27:32Jimmy standing by as Zab Judah gets ready for his first offense of the IBF Junior Welterweight Championship.
00:27:45His father, Yole, alongside him.
00:27:47His opponent, Junior Witter, from right here in Sheffield, England.
00:27:51So he, of course, the home crowd favorite.
00:27:53Ladies and gentlemen, we're ready to go with this world championship attraction coming your way.
00:28:01Brought to you courtesy of Frank Warren's Sports Network in association with main events and showtime championship boxing

00:28:23This is along with the British Boxing Board of Control.
00:28:25The chairman and steward in charge is Lord Brooks of Tremorfa.
00:28:29Introducing to you our three judges scoring the bout from ringside.
00:28:33From New York, George Colon.
00:28:36From Wolverhampton, England, John Coyle.
00:28:39From Naples, Italy, Victorio Urso.
00:28:42And introducing to you our referee in charge of the action from Kent, England, Roy Forensis.
00:28:49Alright fans, here we go.
00:28:52Twelve rounds of boxing for the IBF Junior Welterweight Championship of the World.
00:28:59Introducing to you first the challenger on my left, fighting out of the blue corner, entering the ring wearing silver trunks with black trim, fighting out of Sheffield by way of Bradford, England.
00:29:12He weighed in at a ready nine stone, thirteen and one quarter pounds or 139 and one quarter US pounds.
00:29:21He is undefeated in his campaign in the ring with fifteen wins, no losses, two draws with four of his wins coming by way of knockout.
00:29:30Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the undefeated challenger.
00:29:34Introducing Junior Witter.
00:29:39And his opponent, ladies and gentlemen, ready to fight on my right out of the red corner, wearing black trunks with red and white trim, fighting out of Brooklyn, New York in the United States.
00:29:56His weight nine stone, thirteen and three quarter pounds or 139 and three quarter US pounds.
00:30:03He also is undefeated in his campaign with twenty two wins, no losses, one no contest with seventeen of his wins coming by way of knockout.
00:30:13Ladies and gentlemen, here is the IBF Junior Welterweight Champion of the World, Zab Super Judah.
00:30:23Once again, a referee in charge, Roy Francis, now to give instructions twelve rounds of championship boxing schedule.
00:30:36This is a nice picture right here.
00:30:53A nice side break stand back.
00:30:55You got it?
00:30:56Yeah.
00:30:57Show games.
00:30:58Show games.
00:30:59Show games.
00:31:04Things getting out of hand early as Junior Witter does a backflip during Jimmy Lennon's introductions practically into the face of Zab Judah.
00:31:14And then Judah just shoved Witter back.
00:31:17Judah, a sharp southpaw with heavy hands.
00:31:20Exceptional speed.
00:31:21Swarming type fighter.
00:31:22Seems to be getting stronger with each fight.
00:31:24And unlike most slick boxers, very aggressive.
00:31:27Nine first round knockouts, two of his last three.
00:31:31Witter, as you can tell, very confident but technically not fancy and awkward.
00:31:36Described by Judah as Prince Nassim with no power.
00:31:39That's an interesting comment because Nassim very hard did cleanly.
00:31:42We're going to find out if he has that kind of elusiveness.
00:31:44But no power, that's not a good thing.
00:31:46You're going to need to get Zab Judah's respect.
00:31:49Judah said at first he thought that Witter was a nice kid.
00:31:52He felt bad at first seeing how easy this fight would be.
00:31:56Now after meeting Witter in person, he doesn't feel so bad anymore.
00:31:59He thinks he's just a boastful, egotistical kid.
00:32:03You know, and Witter said there's a whole gym full of Zab Judah.
00:32:06Boy, I'd like to go to that gym.
00:32:07That's right.
00:32:08With a contract.
00:32:11Judah here to showcase his talents on this grand stage.
00:32:21Clearly the biggest of his career.
00:32:23A dream as he told us to be the co-feature underneath Mike Tyson.
00:32:28Judah not only unbeaten but hasn't really lost that many rounds in his career.
00:32:32He said he wanted to come right out, keep the pressure on Witter,
00:32:35not give him room to run around and play and do the antics.
00:32:38Right now throwing a great straight left hand to the body to try and slow down the movement of Witter.
00:32:43Judah is so confident, Bobby.
00:32:45He offered a winner-take-all deal to keep his interest.
00:32:48You know, that's something that most fighters are never going to do.
00:32:50I offered it a few times myself and two of the three times I would have won,
00:32:53but one time I would have to give away the purse.
00:32:55A little risky.
00:32:57But I don't think it's too risky here.
00:32:59Judah said he's going to have to keep the pressure on.
00:33:02That Witter will run.
00:33:03There'll be an early exchange.
00:33:04He'll get out quick so he can let Mike do his thing.
00:33:07Mike Tyson trying to be courteous to his buddy from Brooklyn.
00:33:12Well, he's come out very purposeful but not too overanxious.
00:33:15He's boxing smart, a little slower than normal,
00:33:18but he seems to be sitting on his punches a little better than normal as well.
00:33:21And he learned from his last fight to calm down, be composed, relax, concentrate,
00:33:26don't be overconfident.
00:33:28He was floored by a right hook.
00:33:30And the second round by Jan Bergman came back to knock Bergman out of the force.
00:33:35Fancy work here by Judah Witter who does like to switch as you can see.
00:33:40Yeah, and he switches literally from second to second.
00:33:43He just switches his feet, switches his hands.
00:33:45Seems to be very comfortable from both sides.
00:33:47I asked him why does he switch so much?
00:33:49Is it to confuse your opponent?
00:33:51He said no, it just feels natural.
00:33:54He said he has no problems dealing with southpaws, which Judah is.
00:33:59And no predominant punch to describe his best weapon,
00:34:02but he said he favors the straight left and right hook.
00:34:06But a guy who relies on smarts and boxing ability.
00:34:10Well, the phrase that I like to use effective in their awkwardness,
00:34:12this is the type of guy.
00:34:14And even Zapdude himself is sitting down, relaxing, not getting carried away
00:34:17because some guys are so awkward or hard to be effective against.
00:34:20And he continues to be in the disfavor of referee Roy Francis,
00:34:24especially after those shenanigans before the fight began.
00:34:27Francis who refereed the Tyson Julius Francis fight back in January.
00:34:31He's running.
00:34:32I know.
00:34:33It's okay.
00:34:34We knew he's gonna run though.
00:34:35We knew that.
00:34:36You say you fight, that's all.
00:34:37We knew he's gonna run.
00:34:38You looking good, baby.
00:34:39So, this is your key, right there.
00:34:40Touching, touching, touching.
00:34:41Feint, but put the stuff in his face with it.
00:34:42Put it to it.
00:34:43Feint.
00:34:44Wait there.
00:34:45Feint.
00:34:46Feint.
00:34:47Feint.
00:34:48Stay in the body.
00:34:49Go for it.
00:34:50Feint.
00:34:51Feint.
00:34:52Feint.
00:34:53Stay in the body.
00:34:54Go for it.
00:34:55Go for it.
00:34:56Go for it.
00:34:57Go for it.
00:34:58Go for it.
00:34:59Go for it.
00:35:00Stay in the body, go for it.
00:35:01Stay in the body, go for it.
00:35:02Go for it.
00:35:03A lot of times when you see him try to go on the left, the hook left.
00:35:05Go for it.
00:35:06Go for it.
00:35:07You see?
00:35:08Go for it.
00:35:09Go for it.
00:35:10Go for it.
00:35:11Go for it.
00:35:12Go for it.
00:35:13Go for it.
00:35:14Go for it.
00:35:15Go for it.
00:35:16All right, and don't forget you've got plenty of water.
00:35:17You've got plenty of power.
00:35:18And you've got plenty of time.
00:35:19You understand.
00:35:20You just do it.
00:35:21Just take it.
00:35:22When he comes in, you frustrate him.
00:35:23And just, when he gets in straight, then turn his head.
00:35:24You've got his junior?
00:35:25Turn his head.
00:35:26Don't let him come into you.
00:35:27He's trying to set your lead into play-by-play to earth.
00:35:34Brandon Engle of Prince Nassim Hamed fame in the past.
00:35:38He'll go face of Junior Witter, Yoel Judah, and the venerable Lou Duva in the corner of Zap Judah.
00:35:44Lou told me he wanted to wear a kilt for the occasion here in Scotland, but they couldn't find one big enough.
00:35:50That would be Lou Duva.
00:35:53Round 2, scheduled for 12, with the IBF Junior Wilderweight Championship at State.
00:35:59When a fighter leans so awkwardly, as does Junior Witter, it's very difficult to hit him clean.
00:36:07Again, Roy Francis admonishing Junior Witter.
00:36:10The back of Witter's trunks, as mentioned, reads the hitter, but in Round 1 he was the runner, circling but throwing very few punches.
00:36:18You can see that Witter has quick reflexes, which allows him to get out of the way of some of his abs punches.
00:36:26But his counter, although that was a great count.
00:36:28Good left hand by Witter that scored, and he is just throwing, flailing wildly, and goes down to one knee as he slipped.
00:36:36Very reckless by Junior Witter here, with a little smirk on his face as well.
00:36:44Junior Witter would like to continue what he was doing before, but Zap Judah looking to wipe that smirk off Witter's face.
00:36:51Well, to his credit, I think he's confused Zap just a little bit, and Zap doesn't know what angle the punch is going to come from, which makes him, again, effective in his awkwardness.
00:36:59I'm sure Zap Judah has never fought anybody quite like this.
00:37:07It's like a circus act.
00:37:11A little counter punch there by Junior Witter, but very soft.
00:37:16He only has four knockouts, as mentioned in his 15 wins.
00:37:20Judah 22-0 with 17 knockouts, won no contest.
00:37:24Well, you can see why, too.
00:37:25He's always either on balance or off balance, but he's not really planted.
00:37:29Even when he's on balance and he's moving, he's just not planted.
00:37:31You cannot get power on your punches without planting your feet and turning your body in.
00:37:35Witter's been down only one time in his fifth fight against Andreas Panayi, a Greek in 97, came back to win in the fifth.
00:37:47There was an incredibly wicked left uppercut thrown by Witter that just grazed the tip of the nose of Zap Judah.
00:37:54But one of these times, it's going to be one of these wild swings and misses, and Judah is going to counter.
00:37:59Witter keeps letting himself wide open after many of those wild swings and misses.
00:38:07You know, if you notice, Zap Judah now is dropping both his hands and walking around with the same type of hands-down antics as Witter.
00:38:14And that's not necessarily his fight. He's better off keep his hands at work.
00:38:17Again, a wild miss with a left hand by Witter, but Judah couldn't counter.
00:38:22And Judah's got some carnival in him as well, that's for sure.
00:38:27No question about it.
00:38:30But his punch is a lot more effective.
00:38:34Again, Witter's hands down really low, very dangerous as round two ends.
00:38:42Come on, give him plenty of hustle.
00:38:47Don't!
00:38:49Come on, ride right in.
00:38:50Don't!
00:38:51Yeah, keep it.
00:38:53In slow.
00:38:55He doesn't know what to do when you're doing.
00:38:58I'm telling you.
00:38:59Give him a spin.
00:39:00All right.
00:39:01You all right?
00:39:02Easy, eh?
00:39:03Yeah.
00:39:04We'll just keep it together.
00:39:05Witter sometimes off balance, lunging with these moves.
00:39:08Takes a wild swing.
00:39:09There's a nice overhand left to Zap Judah, but then swings and misses badly and takes himself right off balance under the canvas.
00:39:17There's the good left hand, but now watch him.
00:39:22He jumps in, he runs in.
00:39:24The legs get a little tangled up there.
00:39:26I'm not sure that's what, no, that's not really what twists him.
00:39:28He just over swings and loses balance.
00:39:32All right, let's go.
00:39:33Go.
00:39:39The twisting antics of Junior Witter against Zap Judah here in round three.
00:39:47Witter offering odd angles up, almost like Prince Nassim Hamed, but Hamed does have power.
00:39:53That's a huge difference, but fighters like that can make champions look very awkward, as Bobby has been pointing out.
00:40:02Zap Judah talked about unifying this division.
00:40:04His very first feat, or I should say task, is the former world champion Geron Millett.
00:40:09But then after that, he has Charmaine Mitchell, Randall Bailey, and Kasia Zousteve.
00:40:13That's a wealth of experience and talent.
00:40:15For him to do that would put him not only above everybody in the division, but one of the premier names in all of boxing.
00:40:21He also talks about having Arturo Gatti move down to 140 and fight him at Madison Square Garden.
00:40:28He also talked about fighting De La Hoya at 147, also a difficult fight.
00:40:33De La Hoya, of course, not cooperating by losing recently to Shane Mosley.
00:40:38The gyrations of Junior Witter rage on here into round three, but he's not getting anything done.
00:40:45He may get a contract for Hollywood, but not for another fight from this.
00:40:52Before the first bell, he was doing a lot of dancing, gyrating in the ring with some of the music in the stadium.
00:40:59He could be a decent dancer.
00:41:02That's a little Chris Eubank in him too, a British player.
00:41:08I just noticed that.
00:41:09A little bit opposing.
00:41:11He likes to admire himself.
00:41:13Former British super middleweight king.
00:41:15Although he's making Zap Judah miss more than I've ever seen Zap Judah miss.
00:41:20That he is.
00:41:21But not making him pay enough.
00:41:23He's also missing quite a bit.
00:41:24Now Judah going to the body with the right.
00:41:29Again, Witter missing like a broken record.
00:41:32Witter just doesn't want to get too close.
00:41:35Oh!
00:41:36Witter just walked into one.
00:41:37And he also countered with a nice left hook.
00:41:39But you see, his feet move so quickly.
00:41:41He has great reflexes.
00:41:42He gets out of arm's weight very fast.
00:41:44There's a good left hand by Zap Judah.
00:41:47One more time!
00:41:51And Witter once again being told by referee Roy Francis to keep the punches north of the border.
00:41:57And giving Judah a little time now to heal.
00:42:00I also thought he hit him behind the head too.
00:42:02He probably did.
00:42:04And maybe even something else.
00:42:06Again, look how low Witter's hands are.
00:42:13But he's staying so far away from Judah.
00:42:16And it may take like 10 minutes for Judah to find him.
00:42:25How many warnings can you get?
00:42:28Right uppercut to the Adams apple by Witter.
00:42:32Witter threw a couple little tap-tap shots to the cheek in the temple.
00:42:35The cheek in the temple of Zap Judah.
00:42:37The cheek in the temple are legal.
00:42:38I don't mean to, you know, question the referee, but they're legal.
00:42:42Let's take him, Joe.
00:42:43Let's take him.
00:42:44Let's take him.
00:42:45Let's take him.
00:42:46Let's take him.
00:42:47Let's take him.
00:42:48The dancing shenanigans.
00:42:49Yes.
00:42:50A junior winner.
00:42:51Yeah, guess who his idol may have been.
00:42:54Yo, you're starting to break him down, Zap.
00:42:56Listen to me.
00:42:57That's okay.
00:42:58Yo, you break him down lovely.
00:42:59You break him down lovely.
00:43:00Nice and easy.
00:43:01Breathe.
00:43:02How you feel?
00:43:03Okay?
00:43:04You're getting to the guy.
00:43:05You're getting to the guy.
00:43:06You're getting to the guy.
00:43:07You break him down.
00:43:08You don't need to stay in your game plan.
00:43:09Don't let him do all that shit.
00:43:10Just keep touching him.
00:43:11I want you to do more feints.
00:43:12All right?
00:43:13Feint him more.
00:43:14Feint.
00:43:15Then go.
00:43:16Feint, baby.
00:43:17You're going to go for everything you do.
00:43:18Yo.
00:43:19Take a look at the dirty tactics.
00:43:21Junior winner lands behind the head there.
00:43:24And I think if one of those punches was low underneath too, that is definitely behind the head.
00:43:29And a little bit of forearm included.
00:43:32Here's a tighter look at it.
00:43:35Come on.
00:43:40Watch the reaction right there.
00:43:41You see the reaction.
00:43:42Zab Judah did get it low there.
00:43:43And there behind the head with a hand and forearm.
00:43:50Junior winner continuously looking for ways to frustrate, annoy, out-hustle Zab Judah.
00:43:57I guarantee he's frustrating and annoying, but I'm not sure he's out-hustle.
00:44:01I think he's annoying Roy Francis, that's for sure.
00:44:04But although, the last round was the best round for Witter.
00:44:06It was a closer round.
00:44:10He landed more and Judah landed a little bit less.
00:44:14But Witter resorting to dirty tactics in the process.
00:44:19There's the shoulder wiggling by Witter.
00:44:23Straight right to the stomach.
00:44:25But you just have to wonder what those punches have behind them.
00:44:28Another miss with a left hook by Junior Witter, who just keeps switching back and forth from lefty to righty.
00:44:37Try to get his opponent out of his game.
00:44:43But Judah remaining composed, just sort of timing things out, waiting.
00:44:46Very patient.
00:44:47You have to wonder too, Steve.
00:44:48There's a lot of movement, a lot of action as far as body movement, arm movement, leg movement.
00:44:53For Witter, taking this fight on very little notice.
00:44:56Lights above flickering in and out.
00:44:59Could be as a result of the inclement weather.
00:45:03Although things have settled down considerably.
00:45:06Did you notice that, Bobby, or is that just my imagination?
00:45:08No, I saw the lights too, and I'm not sure what it is.
00:45:11Could be the weather, could just be some bad technical.
00:45:14Or it could be bad eyesight on my foot.
00:45:19There's another wild swing and a miss, only this time it was from Zab Judah.
00:45:23Look at this, little foot movement.
00:45:26And he turned into an awfully nice right uppercut counter, hitting Judah directly on the chin.
00:45:30Junior Witter scoring with that shot following the foot movement.
00:45:34At the very least, he's entertaining.
00:45:38Then a right uppercut to the body by Witter.
00:45:41Every once in a while, he gets in there.
00:45:43You see, he did something very unusual there.
00:45:45He threw the right uppercut from an orthodox stance, switched over to southpaw, and then jabbed.
00:45:49Something that you wouldn't expect coming back with a southpaw jab after getting hit with a right uppercut from an orthodox stance.
00:45:57Under a minute remaining in round four.
00:45:59It's scheduled for 12 for the IBM junior well-to-weight title.
00:46:03First title shot for the flashy junior Witter.
00:46:06And his trainer in the meeting yesterday told us, oh, he's nothing fancy.
00:46:12You got to be kidding.
00:46:13He's fancy.
00:46:15He's certainly interesting.
00:46:16He's weird is what he is.
00:46:17Oh, a straight left hand to the chest by Zab Judah.
00:46:24Put a head movement and again a wild swing and a miss by Witter.
00:46:40The heads almost came together.
00:46:42Zab Judah complained about something there, too.
00:46:44I think maybe it was hanging on his neck.
00:46:48Another foul to add to the repertoire of junior Witter.
00:46:50This guy is fighting out of desperation.
00:46:51He's running out of desperation, baby.
00:46:52Wait a minute.
00:46:53Wait a minute.
00:46:54Wait a minute.
00:46:55All he's trying to do is counter punch you.
00:46:56That's what he's trying to do.
00:46:57Wait till you punch.
00:46:58He's trying to do something quick.
00:46:59He's trying to do something quick.
00:47:00He's trying to do something quick.
00:47:01You got the hand there?
00:47:02You got the hand right there.
00:47:03Catch it?
00:47:04Look.
00:47:05Keep pumping that jab.
00:47:06Hitting that body.
00:47:07Keep pumping that jab.
00:47:08Hitting that body.
00:47:09Keep pumping that jab.
00:47:10Hitting that body.
00:47:11Every now and then come with your hook and straight left on the pipe.
00:47:14All right?
00:47:15You're straight left with your hook.
00:47:16When you come back, but look, when you want to do it, triple up on your jabs.
00:47:19Big, big, big.
00:47:20Just like that.
00:47:21And try and count on when he leads on to you.
00:47:23I'm sick.
00:47:24I'm sick.
00:47:25I'm sick.
00:47:26I'm sick.
00:47:27I'm sick.
00:47:28I'm sick.
00:47:29I'm sick.
00:47:30I'm sick.
00:47:31I'm sick.
00:47:32I'm sick.
00:47:33I'm sick.
00:47:34I'm sick.
00:47:35You all right?
00:47:36I'm sick.
00:47:37I'm sick.
00:47:38I'm sick.
00:47:39You all get in nowhere.
00:47:40I only use you to do this.
00:47:42Try and fight the ugly.
00:47:43Traverse, fair.
00:47:44Here's time.
00:47:45Great.
00:47:46Come in again, take a walk.
00:47:47Take a walk and shuffle your feet.
00:47:48Time, a little bit.
00:47:49Cool, damp night here in Glasgow.
00:47:50Scotland, temperature, about 50 degrees and dropping.
00:47:53You can see the vapor coming out of the mouths of the fighters.
00:47:57You heard Lou Duva in the corner of Judith say that the winner was running out of
00:48:02out of desperation and y'all Judah with some very emphatic words in the face of
00:48:09his son y'all a black belt and former kickboxing champion well I'll tell you
00:48:16I'm not sure that Twitter's running out of desperation this appears to be his
00:48:19style he runs around confuses people gets out of the way and hits you from
00:48:23whichever angle using whichever hand is nearest you it's a very unusual style
00:48:32those punches falling short by Zab Judah because of the distance and there's a left
00:48:38right combination to the head softly done but effective in scoring points for Witter well I'll
00:48:45tell you what in a couple of short instances he has out slick the Slickster just a little bit but not
00:48:49overall and that's the question we posed at the start can he out slick the Slickster that's what
00:48:56he's trying to do because he is certainly not a puncher Junior Witter in the light color trunks
00:49:03see Judah's also got to be defensively cautious because this guy leaps in heads elbows everything
00:49:09could wind up clashing and landing Zab Judah's got two things to worry about hitting him I'm not getting
00:49:13caught with something crazy I'm waiting for him to do another backflip or somersault
00:49:18during the fight I don't know but I learned a couple of dance moves watching Fred Astaire reincarnated
00:49:25he's going to try to figure this kid out
00:49:37Zab Judah's undefeated record and championship at stake winner although relatively unknown even here in
00:49:53England undefeated as well 15-0-2 but only four knockouts Judah had to chase him down and got
00:50:01him with some rubbing punches in the face as Junior Witter is being told by Roy Francis don't turn your
00:50:09back that's right that is technically you can't turn your back on oh there's a big left hand by Zab Judah
00:50:14that scored big time on the mouthpiece went flat out of Witter's mouth yeah you know what Witter got
00:50:19got strangled a little bit there he might have he might be out of trouble but he I can see in his
00:50:23eyes he had a little problem there for a moment Judah just waiting for the proper moment and time
00:50:28that one perfectly and with a stoppage of the action Roy Francis picks up the mouthpiece or gum
00:50:34shield as they call it here in Great Britain they clean it off and then they'll return it to the
00:50:39mouth of Junior Witter that was the punch of the fight thus far big left hand by Zab Judah
00:50:50Judah just a feeling perhaps in his head it is just a matter of time you see once again it's so very
00:50:56difficult to hit a fighter like Witter or Prince Nazean with two pain shots it's very hard to keep them in
00:51:01your reflexes are spectacular another left during that series of punches that scored on the jaw by
00:51:07Zab Judah who walks away with a smile and bows to Witter's corner
00:51:11around a little bit too long great all right no problem in slow out slow in slow and got me
00:51:23just only catch it as you hung around you took the shot that was his best that was his best shot and
00:51:27you took it all right he read best punch of the night obviously thrown by Zab Judah nice counter
00:51:34left hand mouthpiece exits with his mouth it's really a terrific counter he put the lazy jab out Zab was
00:51:45under comes over it it's a beautifully timed punch but again very hard to hit him with the second one
00:51:50he was out of there very fleet of foot winner feeling the power of Zab Judah who just a moment
00:52:02ago had to be thrown back into his corner by referee Roy Francis over anxious to continue what he started
00:52:09in the last round this is round six Judah you might guess has it in his mind to end matters shortly
00:52:22I wasn't sure this fight could even get this deep and now it's looking more and more like a distance
00:52:27fight and he thought it had the appearance of a mismatch before it began but the slick work and fancy dancing dancing of Mr.
00:52:39Witter making things a little more baffling for the champion then maybe even expect
00:52:46I've heard over and over again that in baseball the hardest thing to do in sports is hit a round ball
00:52:55with a round back doing 90 miles an hour coming at you from not that far away but some of the punches
00:53:00thrown here by both of these guys especially Zab Judah they're doing 55-60 and they're three feet
00:53:04away and you got to see him recognize him and slip them all in fractions of a second equally hard I think
00:53:09well trying to catch a guy like Junior Witter may be akin to hitting the major league curve there's a wild
00:53:14left hand once again this time Judah gets spun around a wild left by Judah that missed fortunately for
00:53:21Witter he wanted to end it there on one punch there's a straight left that was off the left shoulder though
00:53:30of Witter just missed
00:53:32there's a right left combination of the head but grazing blows and now Judah's really turning it up a notch
00:53:41Judah looking to pour it on here in round six
00:53:47Witter not as brave as he was earlier
00:53:53another left hand but again a grazing blow by Judah
00:53:57he turns his back an awful lot he really does
00:54:00it's just so dangerous but he's getting away with it
00:54:03Judah looking to time another punch here
00:54:08keep an eye on that strong left of his
00:54:11the jab but it's one and done by Witter
00:54:22the hitter has been Judah not Witter
00:54:26right left combination missing by Judah becoming less and less offense even attempts by Witter
00:54:36more and more just defensive getting out of the way
00:54:38body shot picking right hand there by Zab Judah
00:54:42and those shots have to be wearing Witter down
00:54:46under 20 seconds remaining in the sixth
00:54:53right
00:54:58as we head for the bell
00:55:04let's go to Jim Bray
00:55:14all right thank you very much Steve I'm now joined by the former heavyweight champion of the world
00:55:18Frank Bruno from Great Britain
00:55:20Frank you lost your championship four years ago to Mike Tyson
00:55:23definitely did so
00:55:24you have seen him fight Julius Francis you have seen many of his fights since
00:55:27how different of a fighter is he
00:55:28I'm not too sure what sort of different he is because like he had no one to really push him
00:55:33and really test him since he come out of prison
00:55:34so I don't know what his mental state is
00:55:36his body seems very very good but I don't really know
00:55:39I think hopefully it's Lou can come out
00:55:42you think Lou can contest him
00:55:43I'm not too sure he's very difficult
00:55:45I think he needs a man like Lennox Lewis or Evander Holyfield or something to dig in deep
00:55:48and hit him back and see what he's really made of
00:55:50Mike Tyson
00:55:51now up here in Scotland we've seen rain tonight
00:55:53it's chilly when you won your title
00:55:55your nose is dripping as well
00:55:58sorry about that
00:55:59you fought Oliver McCall outside at Wembley and it was cold
00:56:02did it affect you?
00:56:03it didn't really affect me because boxers once you get in there
00:56:05you know your adrenaline's running and you don't really feel about the car
00:56:08but when you're outside sitting around
00:56:10no sun or nothing like that you get freezing man
00:56:12very freezing
00:56:13Frank it's good to see you
00:56:14thank you nice to see you man you take it easy
00:56:16and hello to everybody in America wicked
00:56:17all right back to you Steve
00:56:19all right Jim the affable engaging Frank Bruno
00:56:22who was unquestionably intimidated in his fight
00:56:25with Mike Tyson
00:56:26Lou Savory says that won't happen
00:56:29we'll see later in our main event
00:56:32it appears as Lou Savory said to talk to him yesterday
00:56:34he has the right attitude about this
00:56:36he's approaching it the right way
00:56:37with the right ideas and the right things
00:56:40but can you do him?
00:56:42I could paint it on paper Steve
00:56:43that you could be Mike Tyson
00:56:44I can show you how
00:56:45but can you do it?
00:56:46he's got it all in theory doesn't he?
00:56:48but can he do it in the ring?
00:56:49he does it then
00:56:50well in round six Judah contended to show examples of his ring experience
00:56:55and continued to pile on points
00:56:57and now he just chases Witter around
00:57:01Witter just getting spun around and tied up in nuts
00:57:04very awkward
00:57:07and Judah you know he says hey
00:57:11you want to face me or back me
00:57:13I'll keep hitting you
00:57:14he's offering up less and less
00:57:20offenses Witter
00:57:21just wants to get out of the way
00:57:22probably just wants to survive now
00:57:24well we've reached the halfway point
00:57:27Bobby unofficially
00:57:28what does your scorecard say?
00:57:29I couldn't find a round
00:57:30a couple rounds that were reasonably close
00:57:32but I couldn't find a round to give Witter
00:57:34because that Judah's getting the job done
00:57:36not the way he wants to I'm sure
00:57:37but he's still getting it done
00:57:38so Judah throwing a shutout from Bobby's standpoint
00:57:42Judah continuing to apply pressure
00:57:48after figuring Witter out
00:57:52three judges working this particular contest
00:58:01but interestingly enough in our main event
00:58:04only the referee will be John Coyle
00:58:07will score the bounce
00:58:08those are the rules here
00:58:09in the United Kingdom for non-title bounce
00:58:12I don't think we're going to need him
00:58:13that's what they said in the last fight
00:58:15and that's what happened
00:58:16which ended in the second round
00:58:18Julius Francis losing to Mike Tyson
00:58:20what's interesting the referee
00:58:25in that kind of a fight
00:58:26will put the scores in his pocket
00:58:29and nobody but the ref
00:58:31knows the official score
00:58:33but I agree with you
00:58:37I don't think it's
00:58:38I think it's going to be immaterial
00:58:39going into tonight's fight
00:58:41I thought that Zav Judah needed to
00:58:42use his overall speed
00:58:43which he has
00:58:44keep the pressure on
00:58:45which he's been doing
00:58:46and the right uppercutter inside
00:58:47landed not as much as the overhand left
00:58:49but he's been doing the things
00:58:50he needs to do to win the fight
00:58:52and his counterpart
00:58:53just can't do it
00:58:54he's made Zav miss
00:58:56but he has not
00:58:57made him pay
00:58:57take him into late rounds
00:58:59but with no real effects
00:59:00he's not winning any of the rounds
00:59:01well
00:59:02there's a good left hand
00:59:04out of nowhere
00:59:05by Junior Witter
00:59:06it scored right on the tip
00:59:08of Judah's nose
00:59:10coming up next
00:59:23our main event
00:59:24Mike Tyson
00:59:24versus Lou Savarese
00:59:27let's go into the dressing room
00:59:30of the former champion
00:59:32Mike Tyson
00:59:33getting a little
00:59:33stretching exercises in there
00:59:37a little bit of a rub down
00:59:38getting ready for his
00:59:4050 second pro fight
00:59:4147-3
00:59:42one no contest
00:59:4341 knockouts
00:59:44losing to
00:59:45Buster Douglas in Tokyo
00:59:47and of course
00:59:47the two memorable losses
00:59:48to Holyfield
00:59:49the rematch by DQ
00:59:50for biting Holyfield's ears
00:59:52looks very relaxed
00:59:53tattoos
00:59:55all over the body
00:59:57there's Che Guevara
00:59:59I think he's got Mao there somewhere
01:00:03as he gets ready for
01:00:05Lou Savarese
01:00:07back to our co-feature now
01:00:10round eight
01:00:10Witter's last punch of round seven
01:00:14perhaps his best of the fight
01:00:16it came just before the bell
01:00:18you know the interesting thing
01:00:27about when the referee
01:00:27scores the fight by himself too
01:00:29he doesn't give his score
01:00:30to an announcer
01:00:31and then an announcer
01:00:31he just walks over
01:00:32and raises a man's hand
01:00:33so you don't even know
01:00:34if it was a close fight
01:00:35or a runaway
01:00:36in his eye
01:00:37very secretive
01:00:37in Great Britain
01:00:39but as you say
01:00:44it will really be an upset
01:00:45if it gets to that point
01:00:46in the main event
01:00:49it's scheduled for ten
01:00:50this one's scheduled for twelve
01:00:52for the IBF Junior
01:00:53Wilderweight Championship
01:00:54140 pounders
01:00:55Zab Judah
01:00:56in a very compelling division
01:00:59with champions like
01:01:00Kostya Zou
01:01:01Shambay Mitchell
01:01:02Randall Bailey
01:01:03Teron Millett
01:01:04waiting in the wings
01:01:04to try to get back in
01:01:06former champion
01:01:07what do you think
01:01:10Judah will need to do
01:01:10to rise above
01:01:11the other champions
01:01:12you know
01:01:13he simply needs to beat them all
01:01:14and again
01:01:15simply put
01:01:16it's not a simple thing to do
01:01:17there's a wealth of talent there
01:01:19tremendous records
01:01:20tremendous skills
01:01:21a lot of experience
01:01:22it's a whole lot of fighting
01:01:23I don't think it would be possible
01:01:25to get all of those champions
01:01:26he can sign a fight
01:01:27to fight you
01:01:28yeah it seems like
01:01:28on any given night
01:01:29any one of those champions
01:01:30can deliver
01:01:31right now it appears to be
01:01:33that Kostya Zou
01:01:34might be the name
01:01:35the man to beat
01:01:36big power
01:01:37good boxing skills
01:01:38good endurance
01:01:38right now he could be the man
01:01:40Charmay Mitchell also
01:01:41an incredible fighter
01:01:43also a southpaw
01:01:44like Zab Judah
01:01:45Sue has a fight
01:01:47coming up against
01:01:48the legendary
01:01:50Julio Cesar Chavez
01:01:51on July 29th
01:01:53right here on Showtime
01:01:54a fight that many
01:01:55are calling
01:01:57a mismatch
01:01:58in Kostya Zou's favor
01:02:00it may not be
01:02:02fond farewell
01:02:03to Mr. Chavez
01:02:03on that night
01:02:04and I know
01:02:05Kostya Zou
01:02:06has no nice plans for him
01:02:08many feeling of course
01:02:10that Chavez's best days
01:02:11are behind
01:02:12all right
01:02:14back to the activity here
01:02:15round number eight
01:02:17a fight that is
01:02:18being controlled
01:02:19by the champion
01:02:21Zab Judah
01:02:21although
01:02:23the challenger
01:02:24is being
01:02:26quite entertaining
01:02:27Julia Witter
01:02:28it's impossible
01:02:29to look good
01:02:29against a fighter
01:02:30with this type of style
01:02:31nothing is orthodox
01:02:32nothing is by the book
01:02:33nothing is the way
01:02:34you draw it up on paper
01:02:35punches from certain
01:02:37crazy angles
01:02:38feet
01:02:38tangled up
01:02:40switching every two minutes
01:02:41it's amazing
01:02:42if anything
01:02:42a learning experience
01:02:44for Zab Judah
01:02:46I guess each fight
01:02:46is a learning experience
01:02:47as he really
01:02:48heats it up now
01:02:49Judah on the attack
01:02:51pouring it on
01:02:52for the moment
01:02:52that was the best
01:02:53three punches in a row
01:02:54that Zab was able to land
01:02:55but even at that
01:02:56that was it
01:02:58there was no more
01:02:58available
01:02:59he ran back to the ropes
01:03:00came in and held
01:03:01Judah looking to fight
01:03:09Teron Millett
01:03:09on August
01:03:10the 5th
01:03:11let's go to
01:03:14Jim Gray
01:03:15alright Steve
01:03:16well the stadium
01:03:17here in Glasgow
01:03:18seats about
01:03:1850,000 for soccer
01:03:20and we were told
01:03:21coming over here
01:03:22that there were
01:03:22about 40,000 seats
01:03:23that were sold
01:03:24for tonight's event
01:03:25well I spoke to
01:03:25the promoters
01:03:26and they have
01:03:26informed us
01:03:27that about
01:03:2713,000 to 14,000
01:03:29tickets were returned
01:03:30some 10 days
01:03:31to 14 days ago
01:03:32because of the uncertainty
01:03:33as to whether or not
01:03:34this fight would come off
01:03:35and whether or not
01:03:36in fact Mike Tyson
01:03:37would show up
01:03:38those orders were returned
01:03:40that combined
01:03:40with the weather tonight
01:03:41and when you also
01:03:42factor in
01:03:43that there is a city
01:03:44ordinance here in Glasgow
01:03:45and in all of Scotland
01:03:46a state ordinance
01:03:47that no one can walk up
01:03:48and buy a ticket
01:03:49because of the problems
01:03:50that they've had
01:03:50with some soccer
01:03:51and the hooliganism
01:03:52that goes on
01:03:53here in this country
01:03:54so you cannot walk up
01:03:55and buy a ticket
01:03:56so tonight's crowd
01:03:56is about 24,000 to 25,000 people
01:03:59thus the reason
01:04:00for the empty seat
01:04:01Steve
01:04:01alright Jim
01:04:02thanks very much
01:04:03for that report
01:04:03Cuter lands
01:04:08was probably
01:04:09his best combination
01:04:10three punches
01:04:12two of
01:04:13at least two of them
01:04:13pretty clean
01:04:14but again
01:04:15Witter holds
01:04:16gets out of the way
01:04:16awkward
01:04:17doesn't hit him clean
01:04:18because his head's
01:04:19bent out of the way
01:04:19all the time
01:04:20Witter has never fought
01:04:23into the ninth round
01:04:24he's been
01:04:25eight twice
01:04:27Zapp Judah
01:04:35went to the eighth round
01:04:37against Anthony Johnson
01:04:38in 1997
01:04:39he had a decision
01:04:41with Mickey Ward
01:04:42in 1998
01:04:43went to the 11th
01:04:46with Daryl Tyson
01:04:47also in 98
01:04:49but he hasn't been
01:04:51this far
01:04:52since that particular fight
01:04:53when he stopped
01:04:55Daryl Tyson
01:04:56that was for the
01:04:58USBA
01:04:58140 pound crown
01:05:00this is somewhat
01:05:03foreign territory
01:05:05uncharted water
01:05:06for both
01:05:08this will probably
01:05:10be an overall
01:05:11good experience
01:05:12for Zapp Judah
01:05:13just to have this
01:05:13in his back pocket
01:05:14as experience
01:05:15very very unusual
01:05:17unorthodox style
01:05:18that he can look back on
01:05:19and if he should ever
01:05:21encounter
01:05:21a similar
01:05:22Nazim type fighter
01:05:23he'll probably
01:05:24have some better answers
01:05:25well ironically
01:05:32Judah
01:05:33before the fight
01:05:34did call Witter
01:05:35Prince Nazim
01:05:36with no punch
01:05:37no power
01:05:38funny because
01:05:40Judah is referred to
01:05:42by many members
01:05:42of the media
01:05:43as Pernell Whitaker
01:05:44with power
01:05:45many similarities
01:05:49with the future
01:05:50Hall of Famer
01:05:51Pernell Sweet Pea Whitaker
01:05:53Witter continues
01:06:01to try to frustrate
01:06:02the champion
01:06:02but it's not working
01:06:04and Witter continues
01:06:10to switch
01:06:11from conventional
01:06:12to southpaw
01:06:13that time
01:06:13a lunging right hand
01:06:14when he switched
01:06:15back to righty
01:06:15but had little or no effect
01:06:17this is a perfect example
01:06:19of some fighters
01:06:20that just not going
01:06:21to knock out
01:06:21because they're too awkward
01:06:22or they're not there
01:06:24to be knocked out
01:06:24and fight or die
01:06:25you're there
01:06:26to survive
01:06:27well Witter is a runner
01:06:28not a hitter
01:06:29there have been
01:06:31no knockdowns
01:06:31thus far
01:06:32in this fight
01:06:32just a slip
01:06:34that was after
01:06:36a wild swing
01:06:36and a miss
01:06:37by Junior Witter
01:06:38earlier in the fight
01:06:42though
01:06:42the best punch
01:06:42was a big left hand
01:06:44by Zap Judah
01:06:45which caused
01:06:46the mouthpiece
01:06:47of Junior Witter
01:06:49to come flying out
01:06:50several feet
01:06:51that was in round five
01:06:54well you know
01:06:57when you talked about
01:06:58he just
01:06:58this is the first time
01:06:59fighting into the ninth round
01:07:00I'm still not sure
01:07:01he's fighting into the ninth round
01:07:03he's dancing
01:07:03dancing well
01:07:05he sure is
01:07:06big left hand there
01:07:07over the top
01:07:08by Junior
01:07:08by Judah
01:07:09and Junior Witter
01:07:10trying some more shenanigans
01:07:12by sticking one hand up
01:07:14and then punching
01:07:14good
01:07:19doing good baby
01:07:20no problem
01:07:22anything
01:07:24anybody else
01:07:27that would have been
01:07:27out of here
01:07:28you know what I'm saying
01:07:29but don't worry about it
01:07:29you got it
01:07:30yo he's doing good
01:07:32you latch
01:07:33you pause
01:07:33you got your good jab going
01:07:34you got your body shots
01:07:35and you catching
01:07:36everything that comes
01:07:37you dropping
01:07:37you know what I mean
01:07:38angle
01:07:38that's all
01:07:39everything you're doing
01:07:39starting pounding that body
01:07:41good jab
01:07:41faint
01:07:42you come in
01:07:43drop
01:07:43you know what I'm saying
01:07:44that sounds
01:07:45watch him on the switch
01:07:46when he go from here
01:07:47to here
01:07:48that's when he throw the left hand
01:07:49when he come up
01:07:49pump two three jabs in there
01:07:51blind him
01:07:51blind him
01:07:52blind him
01:07:52you know how you do
01:07:53just blind him
01:07:53when you knock his head down
01:07:56turn his elbow
01:07:57don't turn your hands out
01:07:58do what you do in the gym
01:08:00alright
01:08:00spit spit
01:08:01spit
01:08:02no this round
01:08:05just do this round
01:08:06you got this
01:08:07just the first round
01:08:08alright
01:08:08come on
01:08:10shot
01:08:10round 10 scheduled for 12
01:08:20unfortunately for Witter
01:08:22the theatrics
01:08:23isn't one of the more important components of judges scoring
01:08:26he's losing to Judah
01:08:28in just about every category imaginable
01:08:31punching power
01:08:32accuracy
01:08:32and speed
01:08:34you may notice we're getting some great sound in the corners
01:08:39of both fighters
01:08:41very strict rules here
01:08:43as Junior Witter tries to dig one into the body of Zab Judah
01:08:47kind of caught him a little bit off balance
01:08:48the corners have agreed to wear microphones here
01:08:53but they have strict rules about allowing those overhead boom mics that you often see
01:08:58into the corners here in the UK
01:09:00and there seem to be limited amount of advice
01:09:02good advice or otherwise
01:09:04in Witter's Corner
01:09:05on the side of the coin though
01:09:07Judah's Corner
01:09:07all the correct advice
01:09:09little aggression here by Junior Witter
01:09:26but mostly missing
01:09:28back comes Judah with a straight left hand
01:09:34but right off the arm of Junior Witter
01:09:37again the switching continues by Witter
01:09:40to try and confuse the champion
01:09:42but Judah staying very calm and composed
01:09:49Bobby just staying with it
01:09:51trying not to get out of his game plan
01:09:52that was a good left hand to the belly
01:09:53good left hand to the belly
01:09:55she came up with a right hook
01:09:56but once again
01:09:56you never can tell where Witter's going to be
01:09:58he can jump left, right or back
01:10:00seven feet
01:10:00he's just crazy
01:10:02that's the proper thing for Judah
01:10:05to not get excited
01:10:05not get crazy
01:10:06he's winning every round
01:10:07there's no sense of wasting energy
01:10:09and look foolish
01:10:10and maybe run into a crazy shot
01:10:12that's not necessary
01:10:12again a learning experience
01:10:14it's all a process
01:10:15Judah only 22 years old
01:10:18shut up
01:10:19and Roy France is telling the Witter Corner
01:10:22to shut up, pipe down
01:10:24yeah technically I think it's illegal
01:10:25for the corner to yell
01:10:26I know in certain locations
01:10:28that is the rule
01:10:30and apparently it is here
01:10:34oh there's a big left hand
01:10:35to the head by Judah
01:10:37look out
01:10:41as Judah just gets shoved down by Witter
01:10:44partly off balance
01:10:46they just continue to yell
01:10:54more movement from the Witter Corner
01:10:56how much more movement could we see
01:10:58move move move
01:11:01if this guy moves any more
01:11:04he'll be at Edinburgh
01:11:05let's go inside the ropes
01:11:18with Bobby Chez
01:11:20speed is always an important factor
01:11:23their speed defensively for Judah
01:11:25getting out of the way of punches
01:11:26his head movement is perfect
01:11:28can't be hit
01:11:29possible to score points
01:11:31if you can't hit something
01:11:32he is incredibly quick
01:11:34offensively and defensively
01:11:36that's a perfect example
01:11:37of defensive speed
01:11:38you got a runner
01:11:40and that's it man
01:11:40you won every round
01:11:42alright just stay the way you
01:11:43get it up
01:11:45just watch him jump in
01:11:47round 11
01:11:49round 11
01:11:51come on baby
01:11:53come on baby
01:11:55come on
01:11:59you saw Judah gazing into the crowd
01:12:12chatting with some of the fans
01:12:15you think he's relaxed
01:12:18there's a beautiful combination to the head
01:12:22by Judah here in round 11
01:12:23the winner was relaxed
01:12:25he isn't now
01:12:25tab Judah
01:12:30measuring it out with a
01:12:32straight right hand of the chin
01:12:33perfectly timed punches by the champion
01:12:41his first defense of the title
01:12:43now some beautiful head movement
01:12:47by Judah
01:12:48big smile on his face
01:12:50no smile from Witter
01:12:51who was doing the smiling earlier
01:12:54Witter's one of those fighters
01:12:56that's just
01:12:56very difficult to catch
01:12:58once again
01:12:58it's so hard to catch him clean
01:13:00I can't impress upon people enough
01:13:01that a guy that moves that often
01:13:03in that many different directions
01:13:04is impossible to catch him
01:13:05Bobby now it's Judah
01:13:06giving Witter a little taste
01:13:08of his own medicine
01:13:08well why not
01:13:09he's beating him too
01:13:10probably cannot dance him
01:13:12well he is brimming
01:13:13with confidence
01:13:14and he has reason to be
01:13:17he's throwing a shutout
01:13:18and Witter perhaps realizing
01:13:27that desperation
01:13:28is in order
01:13:29he is going to need
01:13:32the rare knockout
01:13:34he does not have many of them
01:13:36on his resume
01:13:38only four
01:13:38in his 17 fights
01:13:40he's going to need it though
01:13:42to win this one
01:13:43whenever they get anywhere
01:13:49excuse me
01:13:50reasonably close
01:13:51it's just
01:13:53it's just a matter of tying him up
01:13:54he's looking to hold
01:13:54and grab Judah's head
01:13:55grab his hands
01:13:56grab his back
01:13:57turn him around
01:13:57he does not want to fight
01:13:59on the inside at all
01:14:00because he's having Judah's
01:14:01right when he said
01:14:01he wanted the pressure
01:14:02to get on the inside
01:14:03but he just can't get there
01:14:04and stay there
01:14:04winner a late substitute
01:14:11for british champion
01:14:14jason roland
01:14:15and i'll say one thing
01:14:19he has to some degree
01:14:20entertained some of the fans
01:14:22here with his flashy style
01:14:24but he is certainly
01:14:25way way behind
01:14:27on the scorecards
01:14:27winner who often takes fights
01:14:31on short notice
01:14:32he told us
01:14:33he took the young bergman
01:14:35fight on short notice
01:14:36and won that fight
01:14:37by decision
01:14:39Judah missed with the left
01:14:41a slapping right
01:14:42on the neck
01:14:43that scored
01:14:44final seconds of round 11
01:14:53after about the 5th or 6th round
01:14:54you can just take a picture
01:14:55of the round before
01:14:56and replay it
01:14:57combination to the head
01:14:59by Judah
01:15:00on the attack again
01:15:01now going to the body
01:15:02got one on the air
01:15:03with the left hand
01:15:04and he wants more
01:15:06this is Judah's best round
01:15:08watch the combination by Zab Judah
01:15:22right then a left
01:15:25he's so sharp and quick he'll throw that right hook and throw that straight left right down the pipe
01:15:42he's very quick with it
01:15:43leaps in with it
01:15:44there it is
01:15:45it's very quick
01:15:47there's a beautiful combination
01:15:48very accurate
01:15:49speed and accuracy
01:15:50almost always beats effective in his offense
01:15:53spectacular baby
01:15:57all right
01:15:58last night
01:15:58stay soft
01:15:59you see the shot
01:16:00let him go
01:16:01he gonna run
01:16:02Zab
01:16:03he might try to jump in
01:16:04Judah urging on the crowd now
01:16:06and I don't know if you notice it Bobby
01:16:07but
01:16:08at the end of the round
01:16:09he kissed the referee
01:16:10great
01:16:11uh okay
01:16:13that's a new one
01:16:13he's aggressive and affectionate
01:16:15the referee's not scoring in this one
01:16:18that's right
01:16:20a lot of people think that
01:16:21that's what Savarese may have to resort to
01:16:24uh he may have to do a little bit more
01:16:26here it is
01:16:28round 12
01:16:28the only time Judah has heard the bell ending round 12
01:16:37was when he won a unanimous decision over mickey ward
01:16:40for the usba 140 pound title which he mentioned
01:16:44that was in june of 1998
01:16:46i have a funny feeling he's going to hear it one more time at the very least
01:16:50so if anything a moral victory
01:16:53for junior winner if he can go the distance with
01:16:56the rising star some feel superstar in the making zap judah
01:17:07a lot of folks think no limits for this young man judah
01:17:12well he brings all the right stuff to the table steve
01:17:14he's disciplined he's in good shape he's got great speed terrific reflexes
01:17:18good power wonderful combinations
01:17:21the list of things that he does poorly is very very slim
01:17:26winner's corner is yelling and get this bobby
01:17:29it's going to be tight
01:17:31do they realize how far behind their fighter is
01:17:35you know what i've heard corners do and correct say some crazy things
01:17:39to inspire their fighters sometimes
01:17:48now that goes beyond trying to give your fighter confidence
01:17:51i think that's just flat out lying to him
01:17:56the weather has cleared up nicely we're happy to report no rain
01:18:00and it's about 50. light breeze
01:18:09nice left hand again by judah but once again trying to connect with the right hook
01:18:13and the follow of left hand his man is gone
01:18:16final minute
01:18:19seconds of the fight
01:18:49and it appears as if junior winter will at least make it the distance against zap judah although judah
01:18:58thinking otherwise he wants to he wants to knock this guy out that overhand left he meant to do some
01:19:03damage he just missed five seconds to knock him out he really wants to that one was blocked by the arm and shoulder of winter he made it the distance and now he hugs
01:19:14zap judah after all the theatrics and i believe what i just caught although i did not read lips very well
01:19:21was uh junior winter
01:19:23giving praise to zap judah and sort of making amends in peace for the antics well it does seem like zap judah is
01:19:33streaking to super stardom and on the subject of streaking the roar from the crowd earlier was a male streaker
01:19:39in the crowd

01:20:33so it was a streaker that got the crowd up on exactly and i thought it was the announcement
01:20:37of steve alberts there you go anything goes here oh yes
01:20:41in the united kingdom
01:20:48zap judah looking to remain undefeated with his first offense of the ibf junior welterweight crown
01:20:58he'll be 23 and 0 with one no contest his ko streak
01:21:05goes down the drain though he was looking for his seventh consecutive knockout victory it stops at six
01:21:17judah set to fight former junior welterweight champ teron millet august fifth and his plans to unify the title
01:21:23very difficult to understand why it is taking so long this seems so obvious
01:21:31you saw jimmy lennon jr in the picture
01:21:35as the scorecards are being tabulated here
01:21:38what could possibly be taking that long usually when it takes that long there's some controversy
01:21:45but there can't be an iota of controversy here in this fight
01:21:49maybe he's just having a little trouble adding it up let's go up to that fine ring announcer jimmy lennon jr
01:21:58ladies and gentlemen after 12 rounds of action we go to the scorecards we have a unanimous decision here the score totals
01:22:08judge ringside george cologne scores about 116 to 112
01:22:14judge john coyle scores about 118 to 111 and judge urzo scores about 118 to 110
01:22:23all three in favor of the winner still undefeated and still the ibf junior welterweight world champion zab
01:22:32super judah
01:22:38so there you have it
01:22:44a convincing victory for zab judah
01:22:50as he does it again
01:22:53coming up next our main event former undisputed heavyweight champion mike tyson
01:22:58goes against fellow new york product lou saveries here in glasgow scotland
01:23:04back into the dressing room of mike tyson when last we saw tyson fight he was rated only by one major
01:23:12boxing organization today he's ranked by all the top sanctioning bodies the highest number
01:23:17two by the wbc with a chance to be number one if david tua fights lennox lewis the sudden rise lending more
01:23:25credence to the thought heavyweight division needs a dose of excitement yes tyson still sells they're
01:23:31keyed up psyched up in the dressing room of mike tyson we're set for post-fight reaction from the last
