00:00:56it's a thrill and a hunger you

00:01:00having just two great athletes

00:01:03just go at it boxing is funny
00:01:04because you prepare for so long and
00:01:06then it's like the last couple of
00:01:08days it's like a week every second
00:01:10you feel every second of the second
00:01:12you just be like what time what do you
00:01:15know what I'm saying like the day of the
00:01:16fight is crazy you know but when you
00:01:18finally get in there and you get that
00:01:19walk to ring it's like it's on it's on
00:01:21you watch certain guys they got you
00:01:23know they got a big entourage they
00:01:25come in and they be all pumped up and
00:01:27you just sit there you look at you like
00:01:30then they get in the ring with the whole
00:01:31crew and then the ref goes excuse me
00:01:34everybody everybody gotta get out and
00:01:36it's just me and you I love it man I love it
00:01:39you know I mean where I'm from
00:01:40Brownsville Brooklyn it's just this is
00:01:42this is what we did I mean you know
00:01:44being you know I feel like sometimes I
00:01:46feel like I'm cheating because in boxing
00:01:49you gotta fight somebody your own size
00:01:50your own weight and in the streets man
00:01:52we fought guys like you be a little guy
00:01:54fighting a guy 200 something pounds man
00:01:56you know so I mean we done did that you
00:01:58know so now we cheating we gotta get a guy
00:02:00our size and we get to prepare ah come on

00:03:01eventually a showdown between Zab
00:03:03Judah and Kasia Zou Kasia Zou is
00:03:05fighting Charmé Mitchell here on
00:03:06Showtime February 3rd I think Zou's
00:03:08power is a little too much for Charmé
00:03:09now when it comes down to Zou and
00:03:11Judah it's a real close one Steve this
00:03:14is a true pick-em if ever there was
00:03:15one right now I give a slight edge to
00:03:16Zou because of that enormous power
00:03:18but even more importantly he's got a
00:03:19lot more experience at this level and
00:03:22again tonight first Zab Judah has to
00:03:24get by the season pro Reggie Green let's
00:03:27get your keys to victory for the main
00:03:28event you got a champion here undefeated
00:03:30that is the overall package versus the
00:03:32contender that's hungry and has
00:03:34nothing to lose taking his last
00:03:35stand the champion Zab Judah overall
00:03:41speed hand and feet hands and feet he
00:03:44has it all quick and accurate
00:03:45counter punch he'll make you miss and
00:03:47really make you pay and use the ring
00:03:49to set up his opponent he's an
00:03:50absolute master at it here against
00:03:52Taran Millet he hits him with a jab and
00:03:53a straight left hand and then he starts
00:03:55throwing hooks and uppercuts as he's
00:03:57stepping around he's constantly turning
00:03:59Taran Millet as he's hitting him and
00:04:01working him setting him up for the coup de
00:04:03gris there you see the punches as he's
00:04:06turning it's a full half circle he's
00:04:08turning now look at this the jaw is wide
00:04:11open he's turned a full half circle the
00:04:12jaw is wide open for the left hand Zab
00:04:15sets it up as well as anybody and Taran

00:04:22his opponent Reggie Showtime Green has got
00:04:26to keep the pressure on Zab Judah he has
00:04:28no real chance if he doesn't also use a
00:04:31tight defense because Judah is going to
00:04:32hit him and he's quick and a good straight
00:04:34right hand against the southpaw it works

00:04:38Mitchell also a southpaw the 1-2 simple and
00:04:40effective he hits him rocks him staggering him a
00:04:43little bit almost dropping but he can't let it end
00:04:47with 1-2 he's got to come in and he's

00:06:05gentleman the first active referee to be
00:06:07inducted into the international boxing
00:06:10hall of fame in 1995 Allie Norton at Yankee
00:06:15Stadium in 1973 Allie Patterson at
00:06:19Madison Square Garden George Foreman's
00:06:22second round knockout with Joe Frazier
00:06:26in 1973 12 years as an amateur before he
00:06:33went into the pro ranks tonight late
00:06:40ladies and gentlemen another milestone for
00:06:42Arthur Mercani this will be his first fight
00:06:45in his seventh decade as a referee
00:06:59Arthur on behalf of Mohegan Sun and
00:07:01millions of fight fans around the world I
00:07:04want to present you with a gift that was
00:07:07repaired by another friend of yours we
00:07:10left out one fight that many have called
00:07:12the greatest fight of the century Allie
00:07:15Frazier in 1971 Arthur from a friend of
00:07:22yours by the name of Leroy Neiman

00:07:42Paul what a fitting tribute to an outstanding
00:07:46referee as we prepare to bring out our main event

00:08:14the illustrious Arthur Mercanti followed by the
00:08:17challenger Reggie Showtime Green who says he'll retire if he loses tonight he calls this his last hurrah
00:08:24in fact this a surprise title shot for him fighting pro just over eight years his second world title
00:08:31attempt in his first loss a majority decision to WBA super lightweight champ Sean B. Mitchell
00:08:36Green rallied from a first round knockdown in that fight but eventually lost closely on points
00:08:41it was a good fight and a tough loss to Mickey Ward he's 3-0 with two knockouts in the
00:08:46year 2000 this kid's been in some
00:08:48wild wars plagued in the past by layoffs depression he mulled retirement but then he was re-energized
00:08:56although Green lost to Mitchell after a rugged start he gave Sean Bay more than he bargained for
00:09:00and Bobby Judah of course is not Mitchell but can Green be just as effective tonight
00:09:05well Steve even though Zab Judah and Sean Bay Mitchell both southpaws that's almost where the similarities end
00:09:11the styles are completely different and Green is going to have to fight an entirely different fight
00:09:15Sean Bay Mitchell moves more stays more on the outside
00:09:18has quick hands but maybe not quite the same speed and not quite the same power
00:09:21he's going to have to make some serious adjustments
00:09:23he's going to cause trouble for Zab Judah
00:09:25yeah Green says it's definitely a fight he has to win to continue and he questions Judah's focus
00:09:31everybody building him up and telling him about Shane Moseley and million dollar fights and he said
00:09:39that Zab had better be careful
00:09:44so he awaits the ring entrance of the champion

00:10:03so great that we were able to be here to watch the tribute to Arthur McKinney one of the true
00:10:10good people in the world of not only boxing but all sports
00:10:14not only a terrific referee Steve but an absolute gentleman
00:10:18I had the pleasure of working with Arthur Arthur did what you did alongside me many years ago
00:10:26as a broadcaster
00:10:28and it's great to see him continuing to be a third man of the ring
00:10:32here comes Zab Judah returning to the scene of his title victory a little over a year ago
00:10:40calls 2001 the year of exposure exposing the real from the fake
00:10:48fans are out full force to support Zab
00:10:52he likens the 140 pound class to a movie he says when you put all these stars together you'll see

00:11:02he's got a lot of fans
00:11:04well he insists he's not looking ahead he knows that a unification showdown with the winner of February 3rd Sue

00:11:15in fact it's already been set for May 19th we understand
00:11:21while we know that Zab Judah is highly skilled he's been dominant since his turn pro he comes off a
00:11:29less than inspiring effort which he blamed on
00:11:33now his ring record lacks any real sparkling names Bobby
00:11:37do we really know as of yet how good he truly is
00:11:40you know I really don't know Steve but after speaking with Judy he said it was actually Gordon that fight
00:11:44and that it took to a certain point in time to turn it on and get it done
00:11:49maybe that was the case maybe not
00:11:51let us also not forget he's a man first
00:11:53maybe he just had a bad day
00:11:54couldn't get in his groove lost his rhythm
00:11:57normally he dazzles us with his speed
00:11:59he dazzles us with his attributes
00:12:00when it comes to fighting college to do with John Ben Mitchell
00:12:03he won't have a choice
00:12:05yeah he didn't chalk it up to looking ahead
00:12:07he didn't chalk it up to overconfidence
00:12:10he said he was bored
00:12:11you know what I can't say anything but shame on you if you're bored
00:12:14because this is not a business of boredom
00:12:16the problem is if he's bored the fans are bored
00:12:19in fact for the first time in his career he heard booing from the crowd

00:16:59and as mentioned after starting fast in his last fight
00:17:03Zab Judah displayed no fire
00:17:06wasn't pressing just stuck out the jab
00:17:08didn't throw any combinations
00:17:09he looked like he just mailed it in
00:17:11normally very charismatic dominant and sharp green
00:17:15meanwhile a quality fighter
00:17:17well schooled very game
00:17:18likes to draw
00:17:19at his vest
00:17:20a sharp accurate boxer puncher
00:17:22with a good jab
00:17:22a nice right
00:17:23tries to wear his opponents down
00:17:26not a big one punch knockout person
00:17:27but he punches hard
00:17:31stamina is definitely one of his strengths
00:17:33but he's been inactive for about seven months
00:17:37well let's see if he can get on the inside against Judah
00:17:40work that body and force a street fight
00:17:44conventional wisdom against the southpaw like Judah
00:17:46move to your left away from the power
00:17:49but Judah has pop in both hands
00:17:50so that's tough
00:17:51yeah no matter where you move with Judah
00:17:53you can get hit with the right hook
00:17:54you can get hit with the left hand
00:17:55uppercuts both sides
00:17:57he's very very quick on his feet
00:17:59so he can shift
00:18:00and as we saw in the keys of victory
00:18:02he can manipulate a fighter and open him up
00:18:05and take him apart
00:18:05and as you know Bobby Judah can make you miss
00:18:08and make you play
00:18:09sometimes just when you think he's done with a flurry
00:18:11and you relax for a second he comes at you
00:18:14with another punch or a series of punches
00:18:17yeah he has snake like reflexes
00:18:18and he's very quick to unload
00:18:22slippery southpaw zap Judah
00:18:24who likes to go to the attack early
00:18:27we'll see if it's more sustained tonight
00:18:30unlike against hectic heroes back in October
00:18:33but at his best crisp clean and fast
00:18:37right now he's using the
00:18:39more of a feeler Jeff
00:18:40just kind of flipping it out there
00:18:41I call it a flipper
00:18:42he's just really keeping it out there
00:18:44to get the range
00:18:45and also maybe set up
00:18:47Green for a right hand

00:18:49down the middle or underneath
00:18:51in his words to us
00:18:53Judah said I just want to put the rounds in a basket
00:18:55if a knockout comes it comes
00:18:58now Green said that he had to keep some pressure on Judah

00:19:03otherwise Judah's too quick and too good at boxing
00:19:05right now he's not giving a lot to worry about

00:19:25and we saw Judah throw a couple

00:19:42he's got so much energy
00:19:47trying to harness that energy

00:20:03Judah told us he sparred with Green
00:20:05in the Pernell Whitaker camp
00:20:07didn't really say much about him though

00:20:11I thought I got the better of him then
00:20:12and I was only 17 years old
00:20:14and I've improved so much since then
00:20:15so you figure out the difference
00:20:18there was a slip and Zab Judah's glove
00:20:20actually did touch the cams

00:20:23Zab's been careless at times

00:41:58i got 59 55. i did give one round during the course of there the green out worked zapp just

00:42:04bit when he was just kind of watching and lulling um but it's you know it's not really a contest

00:42:32speed factor may offset the experience factor of zoo and this really is truly a pick-em fight and what
00:42:38about the strength factor of zoo again let's go let's mix it up the mentality of zoo well the mentality
00:42:44the chin the toughness the conditioning and the power all factor in but kasha zoo has those as does
00:42:50zab judah a lot of that as well and as you were speaking there bobby arthur mccanny issuing a second
00:42:55warning to the two combatants to mix it up some more well right now the onus has to be on
00:43:01reggie
00:43:01green's part to get in there mix up because he's behind he has to know that he has to make
00:43:06the fight
00:43:06and take the title from the champion it may not be a hundred percent totally fair to zab judah
00:43:13because he has been controlling the fight and he is trying to do his thing he's trying to connect
00:43:20he's trying to be offensive minded i think it's it's more uh reggie green who's not trying to do it
00:43:25well zap judah is boxing smart without risking much but i will say that earlier on the author had a
00:43:35point because judah was was not as energetic as he has been the last couple of runs there's a big

00:43:44swing and miss almost turned into a tackle but reggie green just simply doesn't seem to have the
00:43:53answers for zap judah too much speed by judah a little blood trickling from i believe the right
00:43:59nostril of zap judah that right hand hit the chest clean but again not the stomach the chest
00:44:07not going to be that effective it's just it's a point it scores but he's not going to debilitate
00:44:12that judah judah eating a little more leather here at round seven less than 30 seconds you see
00:44:19some of the redness around his nose a couple of those right hands getting through green looks like
00:44:24he's got a bit more confidence now stepping into those punches a left right combination by green
00:44:30but green mostly missing due to just too quick that right hand also lands off the side of the nose
00:44:42green trying to finish strong here at round seven but he eats a left hook at the belt
00:45:04so let's check out inside the ropes as zap judah gets busier well after arthur mckinney warned him

00:47:04he just doesn't trust himself perhaps given the speed of judah he knows he just can't block those flurries

00:47:30it was a much better combination by green zab firing back and green against unloading that's what he needs to

00:47:45he's looking to make a statement right here right now judah is winging from all angles

00:48:36right hand to the chest i have to think the jaw or the stomach might be better suited to debilitate
