00:00And we got Maction action tonight.
00:02Yeah, it's a Tuesday.
00:03We're watching college football.
00:04Ohio taking on Western Michigan.
00:07This line opened up as a slight favor to Ohio,
00:08around 2.5 points, depending where you're shopping at,
00:11and a minus 1.5 and minus 1s are in the marketplace now.
00:14Total listed around 46.5 across the board.
00:17Ohio, Western Michigan, Joe.
00:18What is the spread line tonight we need to watch out for?
00:22Huge game in Maction for the future.
00:25Both teams 4-1 in league play, locked in a four-way tie.
00:29But Western Michigan hasn't played a game since November 1st.
00:33So they are at home in this one.
00:36We just saw Ohio win a game last week.
00:40In fact, last Tuesday night, they ended up coming from behind
00:44in order to win against Miami of Ohio to give themselves an opportunity here
00:48at another MAAC championship game.
00:51So we saw this open up at 2, Donnie.
00:54And boy, oh boy, it is now flipped.
00:56We're seeing pick'ems and minus 1 for the home team.
00:59They opened up as a home dog,
01:01but now we're starting to see a ton of Broncos money hit the marketplace.
01:06Keep an eye on the total as well.
01:08Opened up at 47.5.
01:10It's dropping, Donnie.
01:11Temperatures are going to be in the 20s.
01:13We're going to have double-digit wins.
01:15It is going to be a very cold night here in Bronco country
01:19with a MAAC championship on the line here tonight.
01:23How about that?
01:24More college football on the horizon for us.
01:26You see the next game coming up.
01:27It is Oklahoma and Alabama.
01:29This game is going to be played in Tuscaloosa.
01:31The look-ahead line on this one, at least at FanDuel, Joe,
01:34was minus 8.5 for Alabama.
01:36That's down to 5.5 at FanDuel, 6 at many other outlets.
01:39And look at this total, 46.5 to 45.5, depending on where he's shopping at.
01:44And as I see it right now, a lot of action coming in on Oklahoma
01:48as the side here as a public underdog.
01:51Oklahoma, Alabama, what's that spread line today, Joe?
01:54Yeah, well, this is going to be one of those situations, Donnie.
01:57You're right.
01:58We're seeing the money come in here.
01:59But this is going to be, okay, what matters most,
02:02recent performance or overall performance for the full season?
02:08I mean, John Mateer has clearly not been the same quarterback
02:12since he returned from that break there with the hand injury here.
02:16But they doesn't seem to stop folks from thinking that he is the right side here.
02:23And Oklahoma's defense going up against this Alabama quarterback,
02:27Ty Simpson, who, Donnie, call me crazy,
02:29could very well be the frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy.
02:34I mean, what else can Alabama do?
02:36They've ripped off eight wins in a row.
02:38And we've got a market that's showing an awful lot of respect here
02:42for the Oklahoma Sooners.
02:44I don't know.
02:45I think the money for Alabama is sitting on the sidelines, Donnie.
02:49If this thing gets any crazier, I think come kickoff,
02:53it's going to be all Alabama money.
02:56ACC.
02:57How about this?
02:57Virginia and Duke trying to decide.
02:59The ACC will be a big game on Saturday at 3.30 p.m.
03:02Eastern, the opening line around five and a half points.
03:04It's gone slightly higher, Joe, six and a half than sixes in the marketplaces
03:08right now as a favorite towards the Duke Blue Devils.
03:10And a total of 57 and a half.
03:13Virginia, Duke, what's your spread line here?
03:16This is going to be very interesting to see how this progresses throughout the week, Donnie.
03:21We're going to keep a tab on this game because we just watched Duke lose to UConn
03:25when they had everything going in their direction, right?
03:28They go to Clemson.
03:29They beat Clemson.
03:30And now they got UConn.
03:31And then Virginia was undefeated, right?
03:34Had the keys to the ACC championship game.
03:37Well, they fumbled that away against Wake Forest, literally kept turning the ball over
03:42to Wake Forest there.
03:44And now what do we do?
03:45So I think it's going to be interesting to see, Donnie, where this line goes as the week
03:50progresses.
03:51It's clear that Duke and that quarterback, Darian Menza, who makes more money than any
03:56other quarterback, by the way, in the NIL pool in the country, it's going to be interesting
04:01to see.
04:02Duke's gotten a lot, and I mean a lot of sharp money this season.
04:06I think that continues as the week goes on.
04:08Come on now.
04:09Step up.
04:10It's college football.
04:10And by the way, Joe, like sometimes like you pour a little bit out for the homies,
04:13right?
04:14You shed a tear or two.
04:16Week 12?
04:17Week 12 of the college football season.
04:20And by the way, it's really week 13 because we get a week zero in there.
04:24So zero to 12, boy, time flies.
04:26But also understand this.
04:27I keep bringing this up every week.
04:29Like we're November 11th, Joe.
04:30We have the rest of November, the rest of December, and damn near the rest of January
04:35with college football.
04:36This is a long season.
04:39It's crazy.
04:40I mean, by the time we get to Friday night, Donnie, there is less than a month left in
04:46the college football regular season.
04:49And by the way, because I think the Army-Navy game is December 13th.
04:54So we're almost at that point where it's going to be all about the postseason soon.
05:00It is going to be all about the postseason, which we're going to love with the top 12.
05:04But before we get there, Joe, let's take a look at some of the favorites here in the
05:07race to win the national championship.
05:09It's no surprise.
05:10It's Ohio State by a long and wide margin here, a plus 195.
05:14Indiana at a plus 550 price, A&M at 7-1, Alabama 9-1, and there's Notre Dame sitting at 10-1.
05:22Now we see the two teams at the top of the standings here, Joe, in the odds market, both
05:25from the Big Ten.
05:27I love Indiana, but Indiana pulling one out at Penn State, does that fracture you a little
05:32bit?
05:32Or it's like, no, tough place to play.
05:34Still got talent on Penn State.
05:35Just give them credit for the win.
05:37Or does that sort of put a little bit of a damper saying, ooh, I don't know if they
05:40can battle Ohio State when they're going to meet?
05:43None of it matters, honey.
05:45Nobody's going to remember that you squeaked one out in Happy Valley against Penn State
05:50that, well, who you hadn't beaten in Lord knows how long.
05:53But yeah, it's only going to matter on what comes down to it when it matters the most, which
05:59will be eventually Ohio State and in a postseason.
06:02So we saw them do this last year, they made it, and then didn't work out all that well.
06:07They got the snot beat out of them in that last game against Ohio State, and then they
06:11got trucked in the postseason.
06:13So let's see if things are truly different for Signetti and Indiana this year.
06:19See, he makes me laugh.
06:20Like, even that pre-kickoff interview where they get you before, like, the kickoff there,
06:25hey, Signetti, you guys never win at Indiana.
06:27He's like, these guys never played here at Penn State.
06:30Like, well, are you worried about anything?
06:31There's no time to worry.
06:32Like, we're about to kick off here.
06:33I hated the guy last year.
06:35I absolutely love him this year as it stands at this point.
06:38But if you are looking at those standings, they're going to change.
06:41Some of these things are going to happen.
06:42Let me ask you a quick question when we're looking about futures here.
06:45Because Ohio State, Indiana, there's a legitimate chance, Joe, they're going to play twice before
06:49you get to a championship.
06:50Once in the Big Ten final and maybe once in the playoffs here.
06:54How do you view that matchup where it's odd?
06:57Because in the past, it was like, okay, you're going to get to this game.
06:59You're both undefeated.
07:00Somebody's going to lose and be out.
07:02The fact of the matter is that you're in that, yes, you want to win and get the higher
07:05seed.
07:06But it's kind of funny that they could play twice.
07:10Listen, any given Saturday, right?
07:12It really does.
07:13Any time, anything is possible here.
07:16And it always comes down to the same thing.
07:18It's rinse and repeat here, Donnie, right?
07:20So Ohio State, the big game for them.
07:23Forget Indiana.
07:23They're not even thinking about Indiana right now.
07:25They got, Brian Day has got to get past Michigan.
07:28That's the first obstacle here.
07:31And then Indiana.
07:34Okay.
07:34Then the, so usually this always comes down to, oh my, is Brian Day going to lose to Michigan
07:39again?
07:40And then the whole world will be collapsing with Ohio State fans.
07:43And then he'll come back and beat the snot out of Indiana and all be right in the world
07:47here.
07:48I'm not stepping in front of this train with Ohio State because we've seen this train before,
07:53Donnie.
07:54And everything that's being reported right now is that apparently Ohio State's not even,
07:59hasn't even opened up the playbook yet.
08:01They haven't even really, they're still in second gear.
08:05Apparently there's a third and fourth gear on this offense that apparently Ryan Day is
08:09telling everyone, yeah, we're going to start to ramp it up a little bit here over the next
08:13couple of weeks.
08:14So who are we to argue they are the national champions after all.
08:19And by the way, take a look at the Heisman trophy market, sort of that, you know, correlation
08:23to the national championship market.
08:25Who's number one?
08:26It's Ohio State.
08:27Oh, look at that.
08:28Who's number one in the Heisman race in the odds market?
08:30Plus 160, Julian Sayan.
08:32How about number two?
08:32Fernando Mendoza.
08:34Number two in the country, Indiana.
08:35Plus 170 price.
08:37Then you get the Simpson, Reed, Pavia, and Smith after that.
08:40If I had to give you a player right now to win the Heisman, is it going to be Julian
08:45Sayan or does he get snubbed for one of those, oh man, Indiana's never here.
08:49Indiana's unbeaten at this point.
08:50Fernando Mendoza has been great.
08:51Let's just give him the Heisman.
08:53If you had to choose right now, who are you giving your Heisman to based on how the season
08:57is going to play out?
08:58Sayan or Mendoza?
08:59Well, I'll tell you right now.
09:01Mendoza showed me a little something there in that game.
09:04Back against the wall.
09:05He was awful in the third and fourth quarter in the second half there in one of the toughest
09:10places to play in Happy Valley.
09:12But when the game was on the line in the biggest moment, Donnie, Mendoza showed up and showed
09:18out and made the plays to get the win.
09:21That's the mark of a Heisman player.
09:23I have not yet seen that because Julian Sayan hasn't been pushed just yet here, Donnie.
09:29It's not like they've had to pull a game out of nowhere and come from behind like Mendoza
09:35did.
09:35So I think that, yeah, I think time will tell, but that was definitely a check in the Mendoza
09:42box for me doing what he did at Penn State.
09:44Does it feel like, too, because understand this, like I'm just looking at the Heisman
09:48race as it is.
09:49Monday, December 1st, the Heisman ballots go out and be distributed.
09:52And correct me if I'm wrong, the Big Ten championship game would not have been played
09:56yet.
09:56Monday, December 8th.
09:58Like, I don't have this in front of me.
10:00Is the Big Ten championship, is that, I would assume, December 6th?
10:04Does anybody have that behind the scenes here?
10:06Because I'm just trying to get a feel.
10:07I don't, they don't play the Big Ten championship perfect.
10:11So good.
10:11You're actually going to get the winner of that football game is going to decide who
10:17wins the Heisman trophy and who rides into what?
10:20I guess number one overall is the seed, Joe.
10:23That's correct.
10:24Yeah.
10:25And listen, if I'm, Julian, saying I need, I need some competition.
10:30I need some games here that I can shine in against, you know, some top competition here,
10:35Donnie, because that's what's going to matter most.
10:38Don't forget, I mean, Indiana, back against the wall, got it done.
10:42And Mendoza, let's see what Julian saying can do here.
10:45By the way, too, and I just read that, like Monday, December 1st, the Heisman ballots are
10:50distributed.
10:51Let me tell you something.
10:52If anybody votes on the Heisman before that game is played that weekend, which you know
10:55they will, strip them of their vote.
10:58Like, oh, I'm just old school.
11:00And I like, I just think it's postseason already.
11:02And it's a regular, stop the madness.
11:03I don't want to see a single person, like, well, saying won it, but lost the game.
11:07Why?
11:07Because 35 people voted for saying before the game started, because they just got lazy or forgot
11:11what they were doing.
11:12Don't make that mistake, people.
11:14By the way, quickly, Joe, Kent State Akron tonight.
11:16How we feeling?
11:17How we feeling on that one?
11:18I'm feeling sick that I'm going to have to watch this game, Donnie, but I will.
11:22Yes, I will do it.
11:30The floor is yours, Joe Ranieri.
11:32Got college basketball, NBA basketball.
11:35You got Maction tonight.
11:36You got a lot of stuff.
11:37You got the NBA and the NHL.
11:39Where are you going tonight for some dubs?
11:42Ah, Donnie, I am going to go back to Maction football here tonight.
11:48And I am going to be looking at Western Michigan at home, taking on the Ohio Bobcats, who had
11:55absolutely no business beating Miami of Ohio last week, which, of course, I gave out here
12:02on the show, Donnie.
12:03And they somehow managed to blow that lead late in that game.
12:09But you're talking about a Western Michigan team going to be very emotional, too, by the
12:14way.
12:15Marshawn Nealon, the former Cowboy player who just passed.
12:20That was his alma mater there.
12:22So they have not played football since the 1st of November.
12:26So they are rested.
12:27They are ready to go.
12:29And again, we saw the Ohio Bobcats that just played a week ago on Tuesday.
12:35They're good defensively, not great.
12:38They're steady offensively.
12:40But this is an elite defense, especially in the MAAC here of Western Kentucky.
12:46And I think when push comes to sub, temperatures in the low 30s, upper 20s, you're going to be
12:51dealing with some wind.
12:53It is going to be freezing.
12:55I'm going to go with the elite defense at home, who's more rested.
12:59And it will be an emotional night there for them.
13:03And I'm going to back them here at this small number, plus one and a half.
13:06I got Western Michigan to get it done.
13:08I got Western Michigan to get it done.
