00:00Well, you may be aware there's a big World Cup qualifier coming up next week as Trinidad and Tobago get set to face Jamaica.
00:06Head coach Dwight York has been running a training camp all week, including some of the MLS-based players who are currently in their off-season.
00:13York has been putting those players through their pieces and today they're getting a real test against a select TTPFL-11 at the Heasley Crawford Stadium.
00:21The session gives the technical staff a closer look at match fitness and chemistry before next week's Crunch & Counter.
00:27Listen, it's fantastic, isn't it? I mean, where we are, we just come off of, you know, an unbeaten run in terms of the two away games.
00:35I'm sure there may be a little bit of disappointment in terms of not getting maximum points, but anybody who tells you at international level you go away to play two games and you got four points from it.
00:46I'm sure it's not everybody cup of tea, but that's quite a really good return.
00:50And so we're going to try and obviously to try and build in that.
00:54And we know the significance of the Jamaican game. There is no hiding place. I've always stayed for that.
01:00We have the home advantage. We've got a fantastic record here, certainly under my reign.
01:05And we're looking to try and add to that. We know Jamaica is not going to be pushed over by any means.
01:11We need to be at our best for sure that we have closed the gap on Jamaica despite the result, the last game.
01:17But we feel as a team, as a unit, that we can get a victory here come first.
01:23And the former Manchester United man isn't closing the door on home-based talent, saying local TTPFL players still have every opportunity to break into the set-up.
01:32Well, listen, we never left the door open. We're always looking at it. There is an opportunity here for the players to then do an impression because that's what you expect if you're playing against the national team.
01:46Yeah, the players here want to impress other players and stuff. So that's part of the reason why.
01:52So the door is never close to any of the players. I've always stated that from the moment I've taken the job, and I'm sure there are players who probably felt that they should be in the squad, and there is an opportunity to show why you should be in the squad.
02:06This is all part of it. But at the end of the day, it's about preparation towards the game.
02:11It will be quite less than a week.
