00:00Trinidad and Tobago begin their World Cup qualification journey against Curaçao on Friday at the Haseley Crawford Stadium.
00:06While Curaçao's population is not even 200,000, TNT coach Dwight York is not taking opposite-numbered Dick Advocats men lightly.
00:14We expect them to really make life extremely difficult for us as we all have anticipated will be.
00:21But at the end of the day, it's about how we approach the game.
00:25We have a lot of respect for Curaçao. We know that they're going to be, like on a physical point of view,
00:31in the wide areas that could cause us some problems which we allude to.
00:35So there are certain game plans that are going into this campaign, certainly, with a lot of respect,
00:42but ultimately we have the onus of being alone and we've got to make the home advantage working our favour.
00:50TNT have had issues with conceding a lot of goals against big teams, with USA being an example.
00:56York knows that is a concern, but also sees the red, white and black as a threat at home.
01:02We have conceded certainly away from goal. When you look at the home games, we are much better in terms of the numbers of goals that we scored and conceded at home.
01:12We are playing at home after all. So I think based on that, we are in good shape going into the game.
01:19Yes, there is always a little bit of concern when you concede goals. Any manager will tell you that. Any team is aware of that.
01:26We have made some adjustments to that and I'm sure come games there you will see that. It's an area that we continue to try and improve.
01:34York expects a sea of red for the match, saying citizens are passionate about the sport.
01:39As such, he does not want a second bite at the cherry, but instead his aim is to directly qualify for the prestigious tournament.
01:47There is no coming second, there is no coming third or fourth in this group. We need to win the group. We know that it's going to be a hell of a challenge, but it's a challenge that players have to rise up.
02:00Also, you see the uptick in football in this country. I mean, you guys have been a journalist here. You haven't seen the uptick and the sort of passion and the sort of all the things that the fans are coming in in their numbers and wanting to be part of this sport. There's a reason for it.
02:18Besides Curaçao, TNT also have to play Bermuda and Jamaica in that group.
02:23Vinod Nawani, Chiefs Export.
