Choices, choices and more choices.

That's what T&T Head Coach Dwight Yorke had to make when naming his 26-man squad yesterday for the world cup qualifier against Saint Kitts on Friday.

Players like Dantaye Gilbert, Duane Muckette and former captain Aubrey David were the ones to miss out while three more are to be axed from the Gold Cup squad by the end of Wednesday.

Yorke addressed some of the squad selection questions as he met with the media.

00:00Yo called it a tough and difficult decision going from 54 to 26 now to 23
00:06players but at the same time welcomed the competition for selection but he
00:11reminded those players who didn't make the final cut that they are not out of
00:14the process. We have a nucleus of 54 players that since I've taken the reign
00:21and these players have significant contribute to it it's gonna take maybe
00:2654 players for us to get to the work of barring injury suspensions out of form
00:30so these players may not be in certainly in the squad at this point in time but
00:35it's not the end of the road sometimes in life you get knocked back and my
00:39decision and it's you know me as the head coach I have got to make tough decision
00:44and I can tell you it's not it's not an easy decision leaving out these players
00:48but we recognize the contribution that these players have contributed to this
00:53part but I'm certainly saying to these players it's not the end of the road the
00:58door is still open there's still a lot of football to be played. However squad
01:02selection is only one part of the equation and the coach is assuring they will not
01:06take St Kitts for granted. We know what is at stake we need to tick this box we
01:12need a result at home we have the home advantage we know that they're gonna be
01:15difficult it's gonna be a difficult game in every aspect we need to be at our
01:19best we need to perform the players know there is no complacency in this team you
01:24have to earn the right to play for Trinidad and Tobago and that is the kind
01:27of culture I want to build here and we know if we perform and and perform to our
01:31ability we will get a result. And one of the players York will depend on is the
01:37skipper Kevin Molino who is back in the national setup following retirement and
01:41York spoke on his progression and value to the squadron. I seen a person when I first
01:47came in he wasn't fit he wasn't looking you know like the Molino of all of what
01:52people have said what I've seen a transition from a player who I thought
01:57maybe have passed it and that question mark was there to now seeing a player of
02:01real leadership quality player and he shows just when it starts that you
02:06mentioned I've seen somebody who has that experience and control and guidance
02:11and respect within this this team and as a as a former captain I seen that I seen
02:16some similarity in him and he's done a fantastic job and I think that you will
02:22see the best of Molino to come. Terence Clark Team 6 Sport
