05 November - National weather forecast presented by Aidan McGivern.
Transcript
00:01Hi there. Spells of rain have been moving across the UK through the week so far, and
00:05the wet weather that we saw across many southern and southwestern parts during Tuesday is now
00:10migrating north. And so it's a damp day for northern England, much of Scotland and Northern
00:14Ireland. The heaviest and most persistent spells of rain, northwest Scotland, with the
00:18rain on and off elsewhere. A much brighter day, meanwhile, for England and Wales. Drier
00:24with some cloud breaks, so some decent sunny spells developing certainly through the Midlands,
00:28East, Anglia, and the southeast. And with this continued feed of very mild air, that means
00:33temperatures will reach 17 or 18 Celsius in the southeast, even where it's raining further
00:38north, 14 or 15 degrees in places. It's not quite as windy as the last couple of days,
00:44however. That leads us into an exceptionally mild bonfire night. We've got low pressure
00:49sitting to the southwest of the UK, this feed of southerly winds, and the rain mostly confines
00:55to northern parts of the UK, most especially Scotland, where we'll see it continue to come
01:00down across the north of Scotland at 8pm, persistent damp weather here, on and off rain
01:06elsewhere. And whilst much of England and Wales will be dry, parts of Wales will see another
01:13system move in, bringing some thicker cloud and some spots of rain, likewise for the far
01:17southwest. But all in all, it's looking like a much drier picture compared with the same time
01:22on Tuesday. And we will see some cloud breaks. But despite those clear skies, as temperatures
01:27fall as the sun goes down, it's not going to be a cold one, that's for sure. Temperatures
01:33staying in the mid-teens in many places overnight. By dawn, we will see some showery rain push
01:39back into the south. And we'll see also a continuation of the cloud and damp weather across Scotland
01:45and Northern Ireland. But many places will start the day dry, with even some sunny spells for
01:50northern England into the Midlands, eastern parts. Temperatures from the word go, already in the
01:56mid-teens. Then we'll see those showers across southern parts push north into central areas, on and off
02:02rain for many, in other words. Some heavier downpours developing through west Wales, pushing into
02:08northwest England and southwest Scotland by the afternoon. Otherwise, some sunny spells emerging and
02:15a lot of dry weather on Thursday compared with previous days. And with that sunshine coming
02:20out, it's going to be another very mild day, 16 or 17 Celsius. But again, the winds are notched
02:26down compared with earlier in the week. So, with lighter winds, with some sunshine and 17
02:31Celsius, feel positively spring-like. But going into the evening, as the sun goes down, we'll
02:37see the cloudier areas remain and some more showers developing across southern and western parts
02:43of the UK. Into Friday, this system starts to turn up. That will bring some heavy rain into
02:48the west, crossing the country. And then a drier start to the weekend, at least, with lower
02:54pressure further away. Follow us on YouTube so you never miss an update. Bye-bye.
