00:00We're not so surprised to see Joville.
00:13I've seen that coming for all weeks.
00:15Now that I'm close, I can smell it.
00:17I'm not even thinking about going home.
00:19It's straight to Burnham Park.
00:20And we're down to the top five.
00:22I've been in the bottom three now three times in a row.
00:26I need to step up my game or I'm gone.
00:30It would be really cool to have it be all girls,
00:32but I think Jarrell is really talented,
00:33so he's just going to have to wear a wig, maybe.
00:36Let's do this.
00:38Are you guys ready to go to Parsons?
00:52Hello. Hi.
00:54Before we talk about your next challenge,
00:56we're going to let you re-pick your models.
00:59Let's bring them out.
01:10Because we eliminated two designers
01:12and didn't use you in the last challenge,
01:14there are eight of you and five designers.
01:17So three of you will be out.
01:22Jarrell, you were the winner of the last challenge,
01:25so you have the first pick.
01:27Of course, I've got to stay with my lovely Nicole.
01:29Nicole, you can eat the runway.
01:34I will draw from this bag to figure out the rest of the order.
01:38Kenley.
01:40Jermaine, it was really great to work with you.
01:42You're really cute.
01:43But I'm going to go with Tapacio.
01:45Tapacio, you can eat the runway.
01:48I go with Tapacio, Joe's old model.
01:51She's going to look really good in my dresses.
01:54Leanne.
01:56Carolyn, you've been absolutely amazing.
01:59But I think I'm going to switch things up a little bit
02:01and I'd like to work with Tia.
02:07I'm going to have to kill Leanne.
02:09It's like the kid in the candy store
02:11who wants what everyone else has.
02:14Childish.
02:15Heartbreaker, Leanne.
02:22Suede.
02:24Okay.
02:25Well, since Suede lost his lovely Tia,
02:27I think I'm going to have to take Zephara.
02:30Zephara, you can eat the runway.
02:35Okay, Kato.
02:36You have the last pick.
02:38Who is it going to be?
02:41Katerina.
02:43Katerina, you can eat the runway.
02:47That means Paulina, Jermaine, and Carolyn.
02:51You're out.
02:53Afirazin.
02:56I love Carolyn,
02:58but I really felt that Suede had an advantage having Tia.
03:03This is a competition and Tia is a real asset.
03:09Alright, so are you ready for your next challenge?
03:11Yes.
03:12Tim is waiting in the workroom
03:14where you find out what it is.
03:15And I'll see you on the runway.
03:17Bye.
03:18Bye.
03:19Bye.
03:30I could count you all in one hand.
03:32You know, I've gotten past even trying to guess what the challenges are
03:35because it's always something that I wasn't expecting.
03:37I'm just like ready to have it thrown at me.
03:40For this challenge, you will be designing for each other.
03:52I don't want to design for anybody.
03:53I just want to make something for my model that says me and be done with it.
03:57Suede will be designing for Jerelle.
04:02I'm a very difficult client.
04:05We shall see.
04:07Suede's okay with this.
04:08Although, Suede's more experienced sewing women's wear than men's wear,
04:12but bring it on because I'm going to win and Suede is getting Tia back.
04:16Kenley, you'll be designing for Leanne.
04:21Oh, cool.
04:24Kato is designing for Suede.
04:28All right, Jerelle will be designing for Kenley.
04:36Leanne will be designing for Kato.
04:40Each of you now has a fellow designer as a client.
04:46And there's more.
04:49You must each create a look for your client inspired by a specific musical genre.
04:59You know, I think that music and fashion really do go hand in hand.
05:04They both constantly influence the other,
05:06and I think it's fun to get to work on a challenge where music is involved.
05:11This is your opportunity to explore the relationship that music has to fashion
05:16in a very personal way.
05:18And after all, you'll be modeling these looks on the runway.
05:22So, Kenley, your genre is pop.
05:27Oh, my gosh.
05:30I think pop is really cheesy, so I was not excited about it.
05:35It's gonna be really scary for Jerelle to create this look for me.
05:40Suede, your genre is punk.
05:44Oh, cool.
05:46Coming into this competition, my biggest fear was doing menswear.
05:49So now, after I realize, okay, I'm designing for Suede, it hits me,
05:52I have to actually make a menswear punk outfit, and it's like,
05:56who would love to be me right now?
05:57I don't think anybody would.
06:00All right, Kato, your genre is country.
06:03It just gets better and better.
06:08And Leanne, you have hip-hop.
06:12Yay, sabotage!
06:16Kenley was chosen to design for me a hip-hop look.
06:20So, Jerelle, rock and roll.
06:23Okay, I can do that.
06:24I can do that.
06:25All right.
06:26I can do that.
06:27My inspiration is rock and roll, and Suede's gotta work that into my look.
06:30He's probably gonna make me something pretty cool.
06:32I think it actually lends itself to his eye.
06:35So, you have an hour to meet.
06:38Afterwards, we'll be going shopping at Mood with a budget of $150, and you have until 1 a.m. tonight to complete your look.
06:45So, your hour begins now.
06:48Yeah, I was thinking sleeveless, and then it was frayed, and then this arm just from there had the fishnet coming out underneath.
06:57And if you have anything as we go along the way that you have problems with, I prefer that you tell me to my face before Tim gets here, because I don't want to have to snap on you in front of Tim.
07:05Okay.
07:06Well, what would you want to wear if you were a hip-hop artist?
07:10You know, like, I'll totally do all gangster.
07:14I don't want gangster.
07:16Yo, Kendalli's gonna make an outfit for me.
07:20She better not make it look like it's from 1950.
07:23I think everyone's wearing high-waisted jeans right now, and they're awesome.
07:29It's gonna be a challenge.
07:32I'm gonna do something really cool that looks good on her.
07:35I'm not gonna make her look like a fool.
07:37Oh, can we do some sort of killer-ass collar?
07:39Can you, like, some...
07:40A really big high collar?
07:41Yeah.
07:42Some sort of dramatic-ass collar.
07:43A cape would be hot, too, if that...
07:45On top of all?
07:46Yeah.
07:47I mean, it's like, wow!
07:48You know?
07:49I hear that inner voice saying,
07:51you just got called out for something that the judges thought was very dated.
07:56If you turn around a look that Kiss would wear from the 80s,
08:00guess what the judges are going to say.
08:03I'm gonna stand by whatever you do.
08:04Okay?
08:05Yeah, yeah.
08:06I'm not gonna throw you under the bus.
08:07I promise you that.
08:11I think you should do me a pop star who's in a video.
08:14What if I just make you Kendalli Spears?
08:16Like, I mean...
08:17Okay.
08:18It's gonna be super sexy.
08:19And totally not 1954.
08:21You're selling sex.
08:22Oh, my gosh.
08:23You're selling sex.
08:24But I think for the most part, country music stars are very, like, put together.
08:30And they're not sloppy.
08:31Yeah.
08:32Coteau is definitely not about country music.
08:35And, you know, that look is not her.
08:38So I get to show all that cleavage?
08:40I get to show some cleavage.
08:42Yeah.
08:43I just wanna make sure that what I do is not a costume.
08:47Can you try these on?
08:49Look, you up 30 minutes, was up 30 minutes ago.
08:52What?
08:53No.
08:54She can't try these on?
08:55No.
08:56I'm gonna get hip hop on you in a minute.
08:57These look really small.
08:58You guys are done.
09:00Don't act like that.
09:02I'm getting you ready for your hip hop war or what?
09:05What?
09:06Take it over there.
09:07She's just mad she has to go country.
09:10All right, designers.
09:11Let's head off the mood.
09:13Follow me.
09:19They're off.
09:24I am making Kindly into a little pop diva.
09:28Everything's gonna be stretchy and netty and sparkly.
09:31Yeah, that's perfect.
09:32This is Joey's house.
09:33Okay.
09:34Is this hip hop?
09:35Of course.
09:36It looks like graffiti.
09:37So this is the one here.
09:38I don't get the hip hop factor in the print.
09:40Well, you'll see it when it's done.
09:41But that's me.
09:42Okay.
09:43You'll see it when it's done, I promise.
09:44Okay.
09:45Do you know if there's any stretch drum on it?
09:47Black.
09:48I'm making a two-piece outfit for suede and it's gonna be punk.
09:53I'm looking for a stretch denim type thing.
09:56Probably like a yard.
09:57A yard.
10:02All right, designers.
10:04Time is up.
10:05Perfect.
10:06Thank you, Mood.
10:07Thank you, Mood.
10:19I'm doing it.
10:20Is that the palette?
10:21This is the palette.
10:22Beautiful.
10:23I'm Shania Jank.
10:27So I'm Shania Jank for this challenge.
10:29Jank is like a cold word for like totally jacked up.
10:32I gotta get my twang together.
10:35It's going to be a very glamorous look like she's going to be performing at the Country Music Awards
10:41I want the country influence to come through and I want to be me. What's your name Leigh Ann?
10:48I don't know. Lil Lil? Lil Lee? Lil the animal. Lil Lee J. Blige
10:55For Leigh Ann's hip-hop look doing a leather jacket and a top and a high-waisted jean
11:00This is the first time I'm making pants on Project Runway. It's just not my thing. My line is dresses
11:07So I'm a little nervous
11:14We all see this floral blouse that Kinley has we all know that ain't hip-hop. It's damn near country
11:20So we're not going to tell her we're just gonna let her believe that's hip-hop. I'll probably look cute propped, right?
11:26I think Kinley might be in a little bit of trouble
11:29I just really don't think that there is anything hip-hop in Kinley's bag of 50s style dresses
11:35It's gonna be hot as hell
11:37All right
11:38Coming up on Project Runway
11:41I'm not gonna make her look stupid
11:43Kinley, it would help if you removed the sarcasm
11:47Can I get a hip-hip Jerrell? I mean really Jerrell, how much further you want to drag it out?
11:53I would love to win this challenge nobody has won three in a row so it would just be amazing to have those bragging rights
11:59We're designing for each other
12:03Dun-dun-dun
12:05Kinley's inspiration is pop which I've got to work into her look
12:07Kinley
12:09Oh my gosh
12:11Look
12:25So for Kinley's final look I'm doing a fishnet mini dress with diamond cups
12:29It's gonna be super sexy and totally not 1954
12:33Oh this is gonna be fishnet like fishnet like longsleeve thing
12:36Well it's cool
12:37Yeah
12:38Oh my gosh
12:39You are gonna make me look like that
12:42Being sexed up by Jerrell is a little scary
12:46I think Jerrell might think I have a better body than he knows
12:50Maybe ever wore tight jeans before
12:57Usually I wear baggy but don't be worried I won't you know I'll be fine
13:01I am a classically trained cellist I played for 14 years as well as piano
13:07So I'm definitely not punk rock
13:10Do you need me to try anything right now or no?
13:12I'm gonna make them in muslin first cause I is no fool
13:15I'm not even thinking about going home because I just refuse I have to own it I have to claim it
13:19In the name of Jesus I'm going to Bryan Park
13:22I can't think of nothing else I'm sorry
13:24You're okay okay
13:25Oh word
13:26Are there like bell bottoms?
13:28No they're just really long I'm gonna scrunch them up so they're all like crunchy at the bottom
13:32It's like rockers
13:33I adore them
13:34I am making a pair of pants that have a stretch sheeny satin
13:39And making a tank top and a patchwork vest
13:42Suede is never designed for a rock star but when I worked at Jordache
13:46I've dressed a lot of pop stars I've dressed Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Destiny's Child
13:53So this shouldn't be such a far stretch
13:58How's it coming Leigh Ann?
14:00Making cato country
14:02Country fried cato
14:03Oh you should see the cowboy boots
14:05Really?
14:06I was like is this sabotage or what?
14:08You know you got boots like that at your house
14:10When I got my boots today I got my boots
14:15Once I tried on the cowboy boots to go with my outfit that Leigh Ann's making me
14:19They just inspire this country in me
14:21I start singing and dancing and line dancing
14:24And I'm feeling a little country
14:26And keep shooting and skipping
14:29I want to put spurs on the back of those
14:32You can't do it to me
14:34You can't do it to me
14:35Oh I got my boots and I got my boots
14:39Kenley I like to schedule a little fitting with you
14:45Okay
14:46What am I trying on?
14:48We're gonna see a whole new side of Kenley
14:50Kenley's gonna see a whole new side of Kenley
14:52I'm about to bring out the sex goddess in that girl
14:55My ass is literally hanging out
14:57No it's not
14:58I hear Kenley drawing on her outfit from the sewing room
15:04And I jet into the work room
15:06Because I really need to see her in this
15:08Oh I love your boobs
15:10Oh thanks
15:11This is gonna take some getting used to
15:15Little sex kitten
15:17It's totally pop star
15:19You look hot as hell
15:20And wait til you see the hair
15:22Initially Kenley was a little reluctant
15:24She's probably not used to showing that much thigh
15:27But after she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror
15:29I could tell she was feeling it
15:31It really is short though
15:33I would never wear something like this
15:35I'm gonna have things showing that I don't want to be shown
15:38Oh my god
15:40Yeah
15:41You need to wear fishnet more
15:43Ah
15:54Hi everyone
15:55How are you?
15:56Hi Tim
15:57Want to check in with you
15:58And I will start with Jarell
16:01Hey how's it going?
16:02So this is pop for Kenley
16:04Yes it is
16:05Because this is a beautiful silhouette
16:07Thank you
16:08But I just feel like I need to add another element
16:10Do I think it needs more?
16:12Yes
16:13Only if it's the right more
16:15I got these two fabrics here
16:17Which
16:18Ah
16:19No no no
16:20What's this?
16:21I think it's the best now
16:22And having it kind of have these panels of this fur
16:24That she actually takes off
16:25All right
16:26Thank you Jarell
16:29Leanne
16:30Tim
16:31How are you?
16:32I'm pretty good
16:33I've got a lot of work to do
16:34Talk to me
16:35Cato is being country fat
16:38Let me ask you this though
16:40Is it too subtle?
16:42Is it too nuanced?
16:43It's like it's such a fine line
16:45To cross over into too costumey
16:47Oh it's so easy with this
16:50There's just yeah more thinking to do
16:52All right just watch the proportion
16:53Yeah
16:54Because right now I think it's really pleasing
16:55All right
16:56Do it
16:57Okay
16:58Cato
16:59Cato
17:00Cato
17:01So you have punk for suede
17:03Talk to me
17:04I'm going for a two piece look
17:05I wanted to do some denim
17:07But I wanted to do like a skinny jean
17:09I don't want to go all the way punk
17:10Where it's the usual stuff
17:11Why not?
17:12Talk to me
17:13What do you mean?
17:14I'm just trying to learn from everybody else's critiques
17:16If you go too stereotypical punk
17:18Oh yeah
17:19No cliches
17:20Yeah
17:21So that's the look
17:22I have some chains to you know chain it up a little bit
17:25My question is are you doing enough with this?
17:28I mean in a way you want to annihilate it
17:31This is looking very basic
17:33Tim says that it's not punk enough yet
17:36So I have to push it and go the extra mile to give it an extra effect
17:39Thank you Cato
17:40Don't worry
17:41Thank you
17:42So how's suede?
17:44Good
17:45How are you Tim?
17:46I'm good
17:47So my client's Jerrel and he's rock and roll
17:50Tim you're not saying anything you scare me when you say
17:53No no I'm taking it all in
17:55But?
17:56I just think this doesn't look ramped up enough
18:00I mean it's rock and roll you get away with just about anything
18:04Because you know you're down to five
18:07Every single solitary detail matters
18:11All right thanks Wade
18:13Tim didn't really love my look
18:15So I definitely need to make a few alterations
18:18But I'm happy with the way it looks overall
18:21Hi Kenley
18:22Hi Tim
18:23So you have hip-hop and you have Leanne
18:26Pretend I've come from the moon
18:28Talk to me about hip-hop and what characterizes it
18:30Well I see a lot of hip-hop artists today are wearing leather jackets and dark denim
18:35I'm doing these high-waisted jeans
18:38Correct me I'm an old fart
18:40Isn't part of the whole hip-hop fashion oversized?
18:44No that's like 80s hip-hop
18:47Okay
18:48I know what you think when you say hip-hop and you immediately think oversized
18:54But I can see that then I'm not going to make her look stupid
18:58Kenley I'm not disrespecting you and here to support you
19:02But you said everything's oversized
19:04You need to listen
19:08It will benefit you tremendously as a designer
19:11I just want you to understand the outfit
19:13It would help if you removed the sarcasm and the facetiousness
19:18It would help me a lot
19:20You just think I'm being snarky
19:22Okay
19:23Kenley sometimes comes off rude
19:27Which is rude to Tim
19:28And there's a line you don't cross sometimes
19:30Like whether you like Tim's opinions or not
19:32He used to be respected
19:33I'm just trying to channel your thinking
19:36And then you let me off a precipice
19:40Thank you Kenley
19:44All right designers, I'll see you in the morning
19:47Thank you Tim
19:48Thank you Tim
19:49Take care
19:50Good night
19:51Good night
19:52I can't really listen to Tim at this point
19:55And what does Tim know about hip-hop anyway?
20:02Coming up on Project Runway
20:03Kenley is trying to force Leanne into this children's size hip-hop suit
20:10Hip-hop suit
20:11Hip-hop?
20:12Yeah
20:21Oh my gosh
20:26Tim told me I was being sarcastic towards him
20:28I just don't...
20:29I don't think he understands me
20:30I just...
20:31And I don't think I really understand him
20:33You're grabbing my crotch, Kenley
20:35I know
20:37I definitely know more about hip-hop than Tim does
20:40I don't know
20:41Maybe if they just come in more?
20:42I don't know
20:43If our outfit is called out on the runway
20:46I'm not gonna stand up there and lie to the judges
20:49And rave about something that there's some problems with
20:52Especially not for somebody like Kenley
20:54Alicia Keys I was thinking of
20:57Alicia Keys is a little more R&B
20:59But um...
21:00She kinda has hip-hop style though
21:02So, Kenley is the hip-hop designer
21:05Yeah
21:07I can't wait for tomorrow
21:09It's supposed to be like that in hip-hop
21:12I made sure that my pants fit suede really well
21:25But they're looking like a new pair of jeans
21:27When you buy denim out of a fabric store
21:30It's like in its rawest form
21:32So in order to kinda make it look a little aged
21:34And a little worn out
21:35The bleach is gonna help out a lot
21:37I go in the bathroom and I start bleaching the sneakers
21:42And I also decide to start bleaching my pants
21:45That is so strong
21:48The bleach just smells so horrendous
21:52I wonder if she's just trying to sabotage us all
21:55By making us inhale those bleach feels
21:59It's the end of the night
22:02And I'm totally getting nervous
22:05Something in my gut is telling me the judges
22:07Are gonna either hate this a lot
22:10Or really like it
22:12All right
22:15All right
22:19To take care of what you're doing
22:20I'm gonna be good
22:21My favorite one
22:22Did you do this?
22:23That's why I'm so hungry
22:25I'm so hungry
22:27I'm so hungry
22:28I'm...
22:29I'm so hungry
22:30I'm so hungry
22:31I'm sorry
22:32I'm so hungry
22:33I don't know
22:34I'm so hungry
22:35I'm so hungry
22:36I'm so hungry
22:37Hey, I'm so hungry
22:38I'm not hungry
22:39I'm so hungry
22:40I'm feeling confident.
22:42I really love my outfit and I'm not changing any part of my design based on what Tim said.
22:48I think that it looks hip-hop.
22:50I really do.
22:51Kim and Joe, are you guys gonna stay here today?
22:54Don't make a mess.
23:10I have a lot of work left to do, but if I work quickly, I'll be able to get it done.
23:21Good morning, designers.
23:22How are you?
23:23Hey, Tim.
23:24Designers, you have an hour to get yourselves to the Pressemé Hair Salon and the L'Oreal Paris
23:29Makeup Room, okay?
23:33Thanks, Tim.
23:36I feel great about walking down the runway.
23:38I mean, I can still have a great runway walk, but naked.
23:41So if everything works out, I think it's gonna go great.
23:44Let's face it.
23:45I mean, Cato's got a whole lot of junk in the trunk and to really tame that down and make it country,
23:50we're gonna have to see what Leanne can do.
23:52I'll just take it in smoothly.
23:55I'm fine if I just add the snap, right?
23:57Yeah.
23:58Okay, cool.
23:59My look is rock and roll, but it's not crazy rock and roll.
24:05Tim didn't feel like it was over the top enough,
24:07but I really believe in my heart that the judges are gonna love it.
24:10I'm glad they look so awesome on you.
24:12Yeah, they're amazing.
24:13Awesome.
24:14Oh, man.
24:15Love it.
24:16I put the jeans on Leanne.
24:19The crotch is still doing a little bit, but it's fun.
24:22Yeah.
24:23There was a little bit of bunching in the crotch, but nothing that I would think the judges would notice.
24:30What do you think, Daryl?
24:31It's cute.
24:32It's cute.
24:33It's cute.
24:34Kenley's ass is ridiculous.
24:35All right, let me just hem it.
24:36Wait right there.
24:37She is trying to force Leanne into this children's size hip-hop suit.
24:45And then these.
24:46I'll let Kenley destroy herself.
24:49Right, Daryl?
24:50Yeah.
24:51Hip-hop?
24:52Mm-hmm.
24:53Brady meets the Pussycat Dolls.
24:57Channeling Lenny Kravitz.
25:03It's really hot.
25:05It's like Halloween.
25:11Do I look like Britney Spears?
25:12The Goodyears?
25:13Yeah.
25:14My hair has all sorts of different colors.
25:20I'm kind of thinking maybe I look like I should have been in the drag queen challenge.
25:31Good heavens.
25:33What happened to everybody?
25:35All right, I've forgotten why I'm here.
25:37Designers, in 15 minutes we are going down to the runway.
25:42All right, so everyone needs to be ready in 15 minutes.
25:45And I will say this.
25:47It's not going to be a dull show.
25:49I'll be back.
25:55It is kind of crazy being the designer and the model.
25:58Because one person's got their hands on you while you've got your hands on somebody else.
26:02And everyone's trying to get it ready for the runway.
26:05It's exciting, I can say that much.
26:08I think that I'm going to win for Leigh-Anne's hip-hop outfit.
26:12It was a hard genre and I think I nailed it.
26:15I feel really confident with this rock outfit for Jarrell.
26:18Oh God, I'm really hoping that I have a chance to win this one.
26:22Candly Spears would be rocking this at Madison Square Garden
26:25and then probably kicking her panties off and falling asleep in the back of a limousine.
26:29You know, that's the kind of outfit I've created.
26:31I think I should probably win again.
26:33Designers, you set?
26:35Yes.
26:36This will be the most unique show Project Runway has ever seen on that runway.
26:42Hello.
26:44Candly, Leigh-Anne, Kato.
26:47Coming.
26:48Come, come, come.
26:50Good to do.
26:52Coming up on Project Runway.
26:55What happened to the fans?
26:57Candly, you're not alone in this.
27:00Everybody's was hard.
27:11Hello.
27:13As you can see, there are empty chairs behind me.
27:15And that's because for this challenge, we asked the designers to make outfits for each other
27:21using a musical style as their inspiration.
27:24They're modeling the looks today and I wanted us to be surprised.
27:27Before we begin, I would like to welcome LL Cool J to the runway.
27:32We're very glad to have you here for this challenge.
27:36Are you ready, everyone?
27:37Absolutely.
27:38All right, let's start the show.
27:47I think that my design has every element incorporated into it that needs to be there.
27:52It is very sophisticated and I love it.
27:57She definitely sold it.
28:11I think Candly looks like Candly Spears.
28:13She looks like the lead singer of the Bodusi Cat Dolls.
28:15I mean, you'd have to be deaf, dumb, and blind to not know that she's pop.
28:20Leigh-Anne is not telling my look at all.
28:35She really looked like a big fat poser.
28:38Hip-hop, it's in the attitude and Leigh-Anne does not have that.
28:45Oh my God, when Suede gets on the runway, he's totally gone.
28:59Suede does not even exist.
29:01This persona just took over.
29:03Couldn't have done any better.
29:05I should win because I put a lot of work into this garment.
29:09I think it definitely reads rock and roll.
29:12I love this look and Jerrel loves it and says to Matt, if he saw it in the store, he would buy it.
29:22Okay, we scored the designs.
29:36Let's bring them out.
29:39First, I want to introduce the judges.
29:45We have top American designer Michael Kors.
29:48Hey, guys.
29:49Hey, Michael.
29:50Next, Nina Garcia, editor at large for Elle Magazine.
29:54Hi, everyone.
29:55Hey, Nina.
29:56And our special guest, musical innovator and style icon, LL Cool J.
30:02Who's preparing to debut his new album, Exit 13, along with his own clothing line.
30:12How you doing, guys?
30:13Oh, .
30:14I have hip-hop and he's the king of hip-hop and I got Leigh-Anne being hip-hop and it's embarrassing.
30:21Remember, there are five of you here, but only three will survive to compete at New York Fashion Week.
30:28And after tonight, we will be down to four.
30:33Kato, tell us about suede's look.
30:36Oh, and his look was punk, if you didn't know.
30:39This is all actually suede with the pants.
30:43Went for like a metallic denim and kind of tried to distress it a lot with just tearing it up and bleaching.
30:50And that's the look.
30:51I think the outfit has a lot of energy.
30:53It's obvious you had a real perspective on it.
30:56I think it's right on the money.
30:58I think he looks like Marilyn Manson.
31:01These pants fit him very well.
31:04And I liked the treatment that you gave them and was right on.
31:08Thanks, Nina.
31:09I actually think that once you get past the punk aspect of them, it's a good silhouette on him.
31:15Forget everything else.
31:16It really is.
31:17I mean, he looks really great in it.
31:22Suede, you designed for Jor-El.
31:25Well, Jor-El's musical persona was rock and roll.
31:28And he needed something that was very comfortable on the stage.
31:33And he can definitely hop right off stage and head out to a party in it.
31:37Jor-El, what is rock and roll to you?
31:39I thought, okay, maybe a little bit of like Aerosmith or something like that.
31:43I'm really happy with like the color palette and the vest.
31:45I think it's kind of cool.
31:46And yeah, so, yeah.
31:47I think the vest is very cool.
31:49The pants, quite honestly, to me, they're a little expected.
31:54You know, I don't know that they're enough.
31:57I disagree.
31:58I mean, maybe you need to see them up closer, but there's a lot of work.
32:02They're really, really beautiful.
32:03You know, subtlety is wonderful for photographs, you know?
32:06Up close.
32:07Subtlety really doesn't work for the stage.
32:11Plus, I think that it needed more accessories.
32:13I just wish you had a little more...
32:15Oomph.
32:16Yeah.
32:17It's missing a little more drama.
32:19You know what Jor-El looks like today?
32:21What?
32:22Like Jor-El.
32:26Jor-El, you designed for Kenley.
32:28Well, Kenley's genre is pop, and I wanted to sexy her up.
32:33So it was all about just taking bits from like Britney Spears,
32:36from like the Pussycat Dolls, and really creating something
32:39that is gonna read way up in the nosebleed seats.
32:42Kenley, tell us what is pop to you.
32:44This is totally pop.
32:45I like it.
32:46If I was a pop star, I would wear it, because sex sells.
32:49It looks great.
32:50When she came out, I'm like, Britney is a brunette.
32:54I love it.
32:55I love the fact that, you know, she's exposed,
32:57but she's not too naked.
33:00And I love the silver, you know...
33:02Cups.
33:03Yeah.
33:04The silver.
33:05I would have liked to have supported them a little bit more.
33:08They look supported, you know.
33:10Oh, thank you.
33:11Thanks.
33:12I was looking at it, and I was saying to myself,
33:13I like it, but I wish I saw more skin.
33:16And then when you took the vest off...
33:17The reveal is great.
33:18I got more skin.
33:19Show them the back.
33:20Show them the back.
33:21It's actually, it's not like it's attached to the top,
33:23so it's just back all out.
33:24It's very, very smart.
33:26You look sexy, but it's not vulgar.
33:30Kenley, you designed for Leanne.
33:34Tell us about your look.
33:35Well, I got hip-hop, and I just wanted to do something
33:39that a woman today in hip-hop would want to wear.
33:42This, to me, is what I get is hip-hop, but in a classy, expensive sort of way.
33:51What happened to the pants?
33:54What do you mean?
33:55These are probably the most unflattering pants I've ever seen in my life.
33:59I just think the high-waisted jeans are just a problem.
34:02But let me ask you, LL, as an overall look, does this read hip-hop to you?
34:07No.
34:08I didn't want to put oversized pants on her with a backwards leg.
34:12No, no, no.
34:13I didn't want to make her look like a fool.
34:15I wanted her to be stylish and fashion-forward.
34:17I just don't know that she looks like she's a part of the culture.
34:21I think it doesn't make the point as readily as the other outfits.
34:26All right.
34:28Nothing that she's wearing looks extravagantly luxurious without being garish.
34:34Well, I could make something look luxury in a few days, not one day.
34:38Well, yes, but everybody's was hard.
34:40Kenley, you're not alone in this.
34:42Everybody's was hard.
34:47Yeah, and your client was Kato, and I want to ask Kato to please move next to you so you can talk about what you've designed for her.
34:57My design was based off the genre of country music.
35:01I wanted to kind of infuse vintage Dolly Parton with kind of a modern, chic, glamorous look.
35:10And I think that the gold touches here and there just add a nice subtle shimmer to it.
35:17Kato, what does country mean to you?
35:19I wanted to do something that was a little old school, like Loretta Lynn or Tammy Wynette's, but also to have some elegance to it.
35:27I think the choice of color is fantastic, but I would have liked to see a little more glamour, a little more sophistication.
35:35And I think it's from the waist down that it's really missing.
35:38But I think the skirt has an amazing shape on you.
35:41I mean, when you were walking, it was very nice.
35:44I think it's very subtle.
35:46You know, if I saw you on an elevator and I didn't see your boots, I'm not sure if I would know that that's a country outfit.
35:52I think it's a great silhouette, but you could have just notched her up without going trite.
35:57Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
36:00We're going to have a little chat, and then we'll call you back.
36:03You can leave the runway.
36:12So how did you guys think they did with this challenge?
36:14It was mixed.
36:15The hair and makeup, in most instances, did turn them into other people.
36:21But I think the results, as far as some of the actual designing, you know, a little spotty.
36:27Okay, let's talk about the designers that we did like.
36:30Jor-El.
36:31Talk about a transformation.
36:33All of us knew, the minute she turned the corner, that this was pop.
36:37And she took the vest off and some skin.
36:39There was another chapter, you know, to the book.
36:42I think that he made it revealing without it looking trashy.
36:48Another designer that we liked was Kato.
36:51She designed for suede, and he was very obviously punk.
36:55I thought what was kind of cool, she made that jean, which fit him very well.
36:59Very well.
37:00She bleached it to give it that texture, which I thought was very cool.
37:03That was hot.
37:04I also liked the idea that you had the chain built into the t-shirt.
37:08Yeah.
37:09I thought she nailed that outfit.
37:10Me too.
37:11It felt authentic to me.
37:14What did you think about suede, which was supposed to be rock and roll?
37:17I think it was rock and roll going to the grocery store.
37:20It was well made, but it was a bit boring.
37:23I think he's been too guarded in terms of his design.
37:27He's too safe.
37:28It needed to be explosive.
37:30It's rock and roll, it's loud, it's aggressive.
37:32When Jarell turned the corner, there was no transformation.
37:35No.
37:36His everyday look is more out there and more creative than that.
37:41Another one that we had problems with was Kenley.
37:45That outfit looked like something that you'd go buy in a mall.
37:50It was a perfectly fine leather jacket, a tank top, and a pair of really unattractive jeans.
37:57And if you make high-waisted jeans, make them really, really special.
38:00I don't know, make them in leather.
38:02Something a little bit more special than...
38:04Don't make mom jeans.
38:05But I think she was probably freaked out.
38:07She was freaked out.
38:08Suddenly you were, like, taking her out of her 50s prom dress, and it wasn't something...
38:12And something that she's completely not...
38:15You know, she doesn't know.
38:18Leigh Ann.
38:19I think she started off in the right direction, but it needed a little glamour.
38:24The skirt was very nice.
38:25It wasn't bad, it was just a little quiet.
38:27There's a fine line between looking like your waitress at a theme park and looking like a star.
38:33It was a little too much like, I don't know, a woman going out to eat ribs.
38:40Okay, so we've made our decision.
38:44Let's bring them back up.
38:53There are five of you here, but tonight we're narrowing it down to four.
38:58So one of you will be out.
39:03We have a winner.
39:08Let's start with a winner.
39:14Congratulations.
39:18Qatar.
39:19You are the winner of this challenge.
39:21You can hit the runway.
39:22You are the winner of this challenge, you can leave the runway.
39:32I'm so happy because I just not only did a punk outfit, I did men's work today.
39:41I took a look that was nothing like my own.
39:44LL loved it, all the judges loved it, and I did it.
39:51Jor-El, good work. You can leave the runway.
39:54Thank you, guys.
40:02Lian, you're in. You can leave the runway.
40:08Kenley, Suede, one of you will be out.
40:23Suede, you played it safe, and rock and roll is anything but safe.
40:29You could have turned up the volume, but instead, we got silence.
40:36Kenley, there was no glamour, no bravado, and you missed the attitude of hip-hop completely.
40:44Kenley, you're in. You can leave the runway.
40:59That means wait, we're out.
41:03Thank you, guys, so much for the opportunity. It was really great.
41:10We'll see Suede rocket. All my love.
41:18Hi, guys.
41:23Suede's leaving.
41:26Somebody had to go, and unfortunately, it was Suede, but I'm really, really proud of myself.
41:31I made it to the top five, which absolutely is amazing.
41:35Suede.
41:37So I have to send you upstairs to clean up your space?
41:39No problem. I'll be in touch. All my love.
41:41All my love to you, too.
41:43You guys, rock it for me. I will see you guys on the runway.
41:47Love you guys.
41:50I can't be disappointed when I gave it my all, and I really put something out there that I believed in.
41:55And like Madonna says, you get up again over and over.
41:58So, Madonna, I'm ready to dress you up in Suede.
