00:00The winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine,
00:06a Paris vacation courtesy of Avian, and $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line.
00:19Six left. Two boys.
00:22How did that happen?
00:23I don't know.
00:23At this point in the competition, there's six of us left,
00:26so I really feel like it's time for all of us to step outside of our comfort zone.
00:31I've really put out pieces that I like, but I've got to get the judges to get it.
00:36During this whole process, you know, I've been all over the place.
00:40Congratulations, congratulations. Great work. Good work. Fantastic. Stunning.
00:44Now, Saki, we hate it. We hate you. You're fat.
00:49Even though Bryant Park is just a couple challenges away, it still feels like it's the moon.
00:58I kind of like that there's so many more girls and boys there.
01:01It's nice because I feel like the fashion business is so dominated by men,
01:05and that sucks because I think women have a very valid point,
01:10especially when it comes to dressing women.
01:12Themselves, yeah.
01:13Right now, I feel like the strongest designers are myself, Irina, and Carol Hanna.
01:21I think that Logan and Christopher, they've shown repeatedly they're, you know,
01:26can't be at the top of this competition, and I think Jordana as well.
01:30At this point, the judges know that we all can make clothes.
01:33Right.
01:34Now we have really to show our imagination as a designer.
01:38Yeah.
01:38I need to show the judges I can make more than dresses
01:42because pretty much all I've done here is dresses,
01:45and that's my thing, so that's good,
01:47but it's kind of time to really do something for runway.
01:51Ready?
01:52Yeah.
01:52You guys sound like twins.
01:54That's a compliment.
01:55I want to get to work.
01:56Let's do it.
02:05We are doing something very unusual.
02:07We are facing away from the runway, which we've never done before.
02:13You hear this rustling, and you have no idea what's going on.
02:18It's one of the most horrifying moments.
02:23Hello.
02:23Hi.
02:24Designers, you can turn around.
02:25Hey, Heidi.
02:28We turn around, and our winning looks are on stage.
02:32And my first thought is, oh, gosh, I hope we don't have to cut them up,
02:37because I really don't want to.
02:39Well, as you can see here, you have proven your talent time and time again.
02:44And this is just a reminder of some of your best moments on the runway.
02:47Well, your challenge is to create a companion piece that complements and enhances your best look.
02:56I hated sitting there and seeing all the other designers' winning looks.
03:04Mine was the only one up there that wasn't a winning look.
03:07But I'm glad that the judges chose that piece for me to work with off the first challenge.
03:12This is a chance for me to really prove something.
03:15Tim is waiting for you in the workroom to fill you in on all the details.
03:19And I'm going to see you on the runway.
03:21Good luck.
03:22Bye.
03:23Bye.
03:24I definitely think this challenge is going to point out where the real talent is
03:29and where, like, the sort of lucky wins were.
03:32I just think there are a few people that are still here that should have gone home.
03:37Hello, designers.
03:48Hey, Tim.
03:49You have 30 minutes to sketch.
03:52Afterwards, we're going shopping at Mood, where you will have a budget of $100.
03:56And you have until midnight tonight to complete your look.
04:00So get ready.
04:02It gets harder and harder.
04:04Your 30 minutes to sketch will start right now.
04:06Okay?
04:07Thank you, everyone.
04:09The challenge is to create a new look that is based on your best look.
04:16My first look has a paper bag waist, and it's a shorter skirt.
04:19And I want to take that paper bag waist and put it on a pair of pants.
04:23And the jacket of the first look is a play off a man's jacket.
04:28And what I want to do with that is really make it big.
04:31I do really like to play with volume as a designer,
04:33and I don't know if I've gotten to do that a whole lot in this competition.
04:38I'm happy to be working with the Aspen look because you kind of have to do a second look that complements your first look.
04:45But it has to be completely different.
04:47So that's sort of how you build a collection.
04:49My winning look is the divorcee challenge.
04:54It's kind of like an edgy look, and I'm imagining some kind of blazer, a top, and a pants.
05:03But I'm still deciding on the pants part.
05:05This challenge, more than any of the others, we really have to take our own inspiration and take it to the next level.
05:14My winning look was a shorter dress.
05:17And I find that my strengths are actually gowns.
05:21And so I'm given the opportunity to create a long version of the original dress and do a different spin on it.
05:29All right, designers, your sketching time is up.
05:32Let's head off to mood.
05:33All right, everybody, you have a $100 budget, and you have 30 minutes to shop.
05:45For me, it all begins and ends right here.
05:48All right, so your 30 minutes begins now.
05:51Go, go, go.
05:53What do I need?
05:55My original concept for my design is taking some of the zippers that were in my previous garment
06:01and just multiplying that up.
06:03That, sir, is a zipper.
06:05I purchased 40 zippers.
06:07Wow.
06:08She's just going to have trims and bits and pieces all over her.
06:11The first thing in my head is to find the exact same metallic satin that I used for the top.
06:16But this thought occurs in my head.
06:18Change it up a little bit.
06:20This is pretty.
06:21Get this.
06:21I dig through, and I find this silver version of the same material.
06:26So I decide to get 30 yards.
06:30I'm going to go big.
06:31I'm going to go huge.
06:32Three yards?
06:33Yes.
06:33So I'm at mood.
06:34I know exactly what I want to get.
06:36And then I spot this, like, really gorgeous fabric.
06:40Designers, you have 15 minutes remaining.
06:42So I decide to swap the skirt fabric.
06:4515 minutes, everybody.
06:46I'm actually going to do a dress instead.
06:48Yeah.
06:49That's fine.
06:50What kind of fabric?
06:51It doesn't really matter as long as it looks really grinch.
06:54My winning look had a lot of feathers and a lot of sequins,
06:57and I decided to avoid both of those completely.
07:00I want to do something that connects to it but isn't, like,
07:04here's another look made out of the same crap.
07:06I mean, you can't decide between a dress and, like, a separate combo.
07:09Let me ask you this.
07:10I'm more towards dresses, but...
07:12What will sustain you throughout the course of the day?
07:16I'm not really a pants person, but I haven't made anything else.
07:19In order to take some risks and really be uber creative with this,
07:24you need to be in something of a comfort zone.
07:26Okay.
07:27And if you're out of your zone, it's not going to happen for you, I'm afraid.
07:30Okay.
07:31All right.
07:31Does that help?
07:32That helps a lot.
07:32That helps a ton.
07:34Go, go, go.
07:34Five minutes.
07:37You have $6 to spend.
07:38Okay.
07:42One yard, please.
07:44Time's up.
07:45That's it.
07:45Okay.
07:46How much did you have left over?
07:48Like, pennies?
07:4850 cents.
07:49How about you guys?
07:50I'm good at spending money.
07:51Thank you, Mood.
07:52Thank you, Mood.
08:04My concept is still developing.
08:07You always do this.
08:08You always, like, know exactly what you're doing.
08:09And you're just, like, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, and I, like, lay things out and, like, do nothing for, like, an hour.
08:15I have too many ideas, so I'm kind of trying to wrap my brain around all these things and figure out exactly what I want to do.
08:23Coffee.
08:24Right now, I'm really working with a pattern of the fabric, placing it in a way that's, like, flattering to a woman's body.
08:33My first look is about a woman who's, like, an aspen, and she's, you know, sipping a glass of champagne at the lodge.
08:40The second look is about work.
08:43Not to say it's, like, an office look, but it's definitely a bit more, sort of, clean and polished.
08:48Is that enough shape, do you think, or should I do more?
08:53I like it.
08:54Because it makes them, like, not just black pants.
08:56Yeah.
08:57My game plan is I want to get my pants in first.
09:00Yeah, because look at my sketches so much more.
09:02They're sort of the most tailored part of my look, and I really want these to be, you know, just perfect.
09:09They look like Malvin pants.
09:10I'm going to do a pair of jogs first, like, chicken thighs.
09:14Oh, well done.
09:16Don't tell me that.
09:17She's got, like, a leg.
09:17That's not bad.
09:18Yeah, we got eliminated on the pants.
09:20Oh.
09:20Don't tell me that.
09:22Don't be sensitive.
09:24No, you're going to give her a heart attack.
09:27She's so sensitive.
09:29I feel that there is a new energy, and there is a new tension a little bit now.
09:35We are so close to the top three that everybody is even more careful now.
09:41They don't want to really mess it up.
09:44Everybody is nervous because nobody wants to go home.
09:53Coming up on Project Only.
09:55Right now, it looks like it's waiting for a diaper.
09:59I look over, and Logan's collar is, like, completely has a zipper thing.
10:03And now it's doing ideas.
10:05Oh, what a disaster.
10:07So fast.
10:21Figured it out yet?
10:22Working on it.
10:24Now more than ever, the pressure's on.
10:27One of us is going home, and it's not one out of 15, 14, 10.
10:32It's one out of six.
10:34Looking around the room, I've got five other designers that I'm competing against.
10:40But my chances to get to Bryant Park, I feel, are good just because I'm showing a different
10:44point of view.
10:45Just coming from Idaho, it's kind of a different thing, you know?
10:49I'll go out and work on my car and get my hands greasy and then start making a dress.
10:54So it's kind of this best of both worlds.
10:57Oh, being top six is unbelievable, especially with my humble starting.
11:01I'm from Bosnia, but I'm like a Bosnian Serb.
11:06My village is on the border between Serbia and Bosnia.
11:09My parents have no education.
11:11They're just farmers.
11:13And to be where I am today is just something unbelievable.
11:18I can't decide where things need to go.
11:22I feel like these fight each other.
11:24Depends on what you're trying to do, though.
11:26Right now, my look is in that weird stage right before you fully commit to what you're
11:32doing.
11:32You really just want to make it right.
11:35Too many options.
11:37But that's so hard when you're this close to Bryant Park.
11:39I'm going to commit.
11:41I think.
11:44This is an opportunity for the judges to see our true personalities.
11:49And I think when my garment walks down the runway, they're going to look at it and go,
11:55that's a Christopher piece.
11:56Christopher goes out and buys 30 yards of lining, which is kind of his signature for
12:05a lot of the challenges, is just volume, volume, volume.
12:08How's your white mountain?
12:10Mountainous.
12:11I don't know if the judges are sick of it yet, but some of the fabrics that he buys just
12:16look cheap to me.
12:1830 yards.
12:19I don't know what he's doing.
12:20Hi, designers.
12:26Hi, Tim.
12:27I'm here to check in with you.
12:29Carol Hannah.
12:30Hello.
12:30How are you?
12:32That doesn't sound good.
12:33Talk to me.
12:34I feel like it's a big, scary mess.
12:36You're not going to get an argument from me.
12:38No.
12:38I hate to tell you.
12:39And there's a lot of crap on it right now because I'm just sticking things on here.
12:44But I really like this fabric, and I think the color is really cool.
12:50What happens if this is under that?
12:53That's cool.
12:54It's beautiful.
12:55Now you have a fabulous textile happening.
12:57Yay.
12:58All right.
12:58You just had a major breakthrough with this.
13:01Okay.
13:01I'm going to make some magic.
13:03Make magic is right.
13:04All right.
13:07So, Irina.
13:08Oh, yeah.
13:09I'm good.
13:09Talk to me.
13:10I was going to do a skirt and a top, and then as I was checking out, I found this fabric.
13:16It's like a tapestry almost.
13:17It is.
13:18So, I decided to do a really full, voluminous sweater to go with, like, a tiny sort of dress.
13:24Well, Irina, I will say this.
13:27It is completely unexpected.
13:30In a good way?
13:31Yeah.
13:32Okay.
13:33But you need this cardigan.
13:36I do.
13:36I think it makes it younger, and it makes it more playful.
13:40I agree.
13:41I'm very excited about where this can go.
13:44Thank you, Tim.
13:44Christopher.
13:45Tim.
13:46Talk to me.
13:47All right.
13:48This was my wedding look.
13:49It's fabulous still.
13:51And so, I'm trying to revisit that.
13:53Instead of just covering the whole piece in the texture, it's just going to be around the
13:57bottom here, and kind of just a little couple pieces kind of coming up.
14:00Can I show you my thoughts?
14:02Yes, please.
14:03This is youthful, vibrant, sexy.
14:09Mm-hmm.
14:09For me, this looks like her mother.
14:13This doesn't go as well as planned.
14:15And in terms of those appliques, I think you have to rethink the positioning of them.
14:22You have a lot of work to do.
14:23I know, and not a lot of time.
14:25No.
14:25All right, so I'm going to leave you alone.
14:26All right.
14:27Thank you, Tim.
14:27Thank you, Christopher.
14:28I appreciate it.
14:29Althea.
14:30Hey.
14:30How are you?
14:31I really am looking forward to my model fitting, because I sort of have the pants together,
14:38but it's all about proportion on Tanisha.
14:40I'm concerned about the transition from the tight fit at the bottom to the volume up at
14:46the waistline, because right now, it looks like it's waiting for a diaper.
14:52I know.
14:52The pants are a bit scary right now, but I do have a ton of confidence in them.
14:56I have confidence in you.
14:58I have confidence in you, too, because the sketch is stunning.
15:00And if you can pull that off, I can see everybody wanting to have it.
15:04Yeah.
15:04All right, Althea, move forward.
15:06Cool.
15:08Logan, I'm excited already.
15:10Talk to me.
15:11So my main inspiration off this piece is just to kind of take the color palette and the
15:16zippers and just turn up the volume.
15:18That's what you're supposed to do.
15:20I'm using all the zippers for the collar.
15:23Just, I think it'll be a cool, like, glitz as soon as the lights hit it on the runway.
15:28So I look over, and Logan's collar is, like, completely has a zipper thing, which is, like,
15:34the same collar that I did in the Christina Aguilera challenge.
15:37This is the heaviest collar known to me.
15:40I was a little annoyed, but I personally liked how I used it better anyway, so.
15:45All right, you still have a lot of work to do.
15:47There's a lot of refinement, but this is definitely in the wow category.
15:51Thank you, Logan.
15:52Thank you, Tim.
15:53Jordana, talk to me.
15:55This is my inspiration.
15:57It's a little bit rock and roll.
15:59It's a little bit industrial.
16:02So how are you finishing the edges?
16:05I'm actually, I like the edges like this.
16:06You do?
16:07Yeah, I like it like that.
16:09I like to fit, you know, it's so feminine, and then I like the roughness of it.
16:13Well, then you have to just stand by that as being a major force in the whole direction
16:18of this design.
16:19What the f***?
16:22How uncreative are you that you have to steal it into people?
16:28I hate Logan.
16:31I don't know if I should say anything.
16:32Yeah, help you.
16:35I will.
16:36I see you're inspired by my piece.
16:38Mm-hmm.
16:40I'm going to get better right now.
16:41And, I mean, I'm going to tell you, you're taking risks.
16:44I applaud that.
16:46So stand by it.
16:48All right.
16:48Thank you, Jordana.
16:49Thank you, Tim.
16:53Designers, I just want to tell you that I am tremendously excited about the potential
16:58that each of you is demonstrating.
17:00And I am very mindful of the fact that after tomorrow's runway show, there will only be
17:06five of you.
17:07So, you have until midnight tonight.
17:10Use your time exceedingly well.
17:14And I'm going to send in your models for a fitting right now.
17:18Hi.
17:18What we're going to do first is get you fitted into this.
17:27Okay.
17:28All right.
17:28Get naked.
17:29Get naked.
17:30Great.
17:30It's cool so far.
17:32And I know that it's not even near done.
17:33Yeah, true.
17:35It started like 10 minutes ago.
17:40Yeah, this needs to be cut down though for sure.
17:43Is it too tight?
17:43It is a little tight.
17:45Go, go, go, go, go.
17:47Christopher's dress.
17:48What are you going to say about it other than why is one dress throwing up the other?
17:52Arms up.
17:53Oh, I'm so annoyed.
18:03Do you remember our jacket with the zippers on the collar?
18:07Logan's dress with all zippers on the collar.
18:11I'm like, I'm so pissed.
18:13Just because like, why is he even here?
18:16He's never had one look that's been the top three.
18:18Number one.
18:19And he came down, he's like stealing ideas.
18:24He's so annoyed.
18:25He thinks because he's like cute, he can do whatever the ****.
18:27I'm like really annoyed.
18:29Oh my goodness.
18:30Oh my goodness.
18:32Okay, we'll see you later.
18:34Bye, girls.
18:37Done thinking.
18:38Now I'm going to work.
18:41Time is not on my side.
18:43For hours and hours and hours, I'm going to create my flowers.
18:46I'm going to hand apply them to the black overdress.
18:48Keep in mind that when I did the first dress, it took me eight hours to sew.
18:53On all of those pedals.
18:56I'm getting a little worried.
18:57I think a lot of designers have to worry.
18:59Usually, you know, I could pick out like one or two that I think might be in trouble.
19:03But at this point, now that I have a minute to see what everybody else did,
19:08I think a lot of them should be worried.
19:11There's just no way for me to like get in between these zippers.
19:17Oh, what a disaster.
19:18Let's go home.
19:20All right.
19:25Nightmare.
19:26Coming up on Project My Life.
19:28Oh!
19:29This is it.
19:29Who's taking all this stuff off the machines?
19:32Irina has the nickname Mina Irina for a reason.
19:35You're supposed to get inspiration from your own look, not from mine.
19:39There's definitely pressure with only six OS.
19:49I have one more challenge after this runway show.
19:53So, Bryan Park is getting closer and closer and that's the ultimate goal and that's kind
19:57of where my head is.
19:58So, let's finish up there.
19:59Look, I want to do like some shaping of the skirt.
20:03I have to magically make up a skirt and make sure it fits and tack down the straps and pick
20:10out hair and makeup.
20:11No pressure.
20:13You finish it, Anna?
20:14I'm almost, but I like to tweak like Tim says.
20:18Even if I'm on the bottom two, if I'm pushing my design and pushing my point of view, that's
20:23fine.
20:24Kick your ass.
20:24You're done as a kung fu mom.
20:29You want to see me in action, girl?
20:31Let's go to FIDM.
20:34You ready?
20:35Yep.
20:37You're welcome.
20:47I still have a lot to do.
20:48I still have about 100 petals to put on my dress and I have to finish the skirt, do the
20:54final fitting and I want to add this neck piece.
20:56When she turns around, there's going to be this finished look.
21:01Well, good morning.
21:05Panicking.
21:07You're panicking right now?
21:08No, I just feel the pressure.
21:11You should.
21:12You should too.
21:13Stop it.
21:14I know that.
21:15We all know it.
21:16Gosh, this thing takes so long.
21:22This morning, the only real problem that I'm encountering is the sweater has to be completely
21:28hand sewn and I'm running out of time.
21:31So I have to base the bottom.
21:33Sometimes you got to just bite the bullet and do what you can.
21:36Oh, no.
21:37Do you have a hook and I?
21:39Yeah, if you want to check in my bag.
21:45Did you find it?
21:46Not yet.
21:48Irina, do you have a hook and I?
21:50I don't know.
21:52I'm here to design, not make friends.
21:54We are at the point in the competition where, you know, helping out your fellow designer is
21:58kind of tough.
21:59When I want something, usually I get it.
22:01It's all worth it for me in the end if you reach your goal.
22:04Who's taking all this stuff off the machines?
22:08Seriously?
22:08I'm going to kill someone.
22:11Irina has the nickname Mina Irina for a reason.
22:14I wish the judges would come down on her for something just to kind of humble her a little
22:19bit because she's kind of on a high horse at this point.
22:22Good morning, designers.
22:23Good morning.
22:24I'm about to send in your models.
22:25You will have an hour to send them to the Garnier hair studio and the L'Oreal Paris makeup
22:30room.
22:31When you're putting your final look together, use the Macy's accessory wall thoughtfully.
22:35All right?
22:36Sending in your girls.
22:47Oh, that's so cute.
22:49Carol Hanna's little dress.
22:50I'm kind of annoyed because I'm like, when is she not going to do a dress?
22:53I think Carol Hanna is a really strong designer, but she's never done pants or a jacket, and
22:59I'm really surprised the judges haven't labeled her a one-trick pony.
23:04I like my dress.
23:05I'm happy with the design.
23:07It's just, at this point, being happy doesn't mean not nervous.
23:15Accentuate the shape of her eye.
23:16Like a smoky eye.
23:24I think Tinkerbell.
23:25Tinkerbell, the fairy.
23:26A little bit.
23:30All right, designers.
23:32In 10 minutes, you and your models and I are going to the runway.
23:3610 minutes.
23:38I like this challenge.
23:40It's going to showcase that even though I am 44, I can still create fashion that's younger.
23:46That looks really edgy.
23:47I think that Jordana is taking this challenge a bit too literal just by using a really similar
23:53technique that she used for the wedding challenge.
23:55It reminds me of my grandma's couch.
23:57My grandma has better taste than that, actually.
23:59This is how they dressed in the olden days.
24:01Right?
24:02I've gone as far as I can with the money and the time and the challenge.
24:06I've been battered a couple of times by the judges, but I keep making it through to the
24:12next round.
24:13I'm meant to be here.
24:14I think people are getting inspired from other people's works, but I don't know how conscious
24:19it is.
24:19I was a little frustrated with Logan because of the collar, but I don't think I'm going
24:24to say anything.
24:25Althea is whining about Logan copying her collar or zipper idea.
24:29Meanwhile, she's copying my previous look, the Aspen look.
24:33Are you insane or are you drunk?
24:35You're supposed to get inspiration from your own look, not from mine.
24:39Designers and models.
24:41This is it.
24:42We are walking to the runway right now.
24:45Let's go, go, go.
24:46At this point, I have no idea if I'm in the top or bottom.
24:50They like it.
24:50They're going to love it.
24:51If they don't, I went a little too far.
24:53That's it.
24:55We're out.
24:56Coming up on Project Runway.
24:58This didn't work at all.
25:00I think it's so unflattering.
25:01Who had the first idea of these big sweater jackets?
25:04It was my original sketch.
25:06I definitely don't feel like I was influenced.
25:08I'm shocked.
25:09Welcome to the runway.
25:19As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
25:25There's six of you here, and after tonight, there will be five.
25:28This week, you used your own success as a starting point.
25:33We asked each of you to create a companion look that complements and enhances one of your best designs from a previous challenge.
25:41You had $100 and one day for this challenge, and I really look forward to seeing what you've done this week.
25:49All right, let's meet the judges.
25:50First, we have instructor at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and Project Runway alumni, Nick Varios.
25:57Fashion Director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia, and actress and one of the faces of L'Oreal, the ever-fashionable Carrie Washington.
26:10Who will score your designs as they come down the runway?
26:13One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
26:18Let's start the show.
26:19I like my dress.
26:24I'm happy with the way that it relates back to the winning look.
26:31And I love the pockets, and I think it's really fun.
26:39I think my look does look really fashion-forward.
26:44Of course, Tanisha looks good.
26:48She always walks.
26:49So good.
26:50I'm definitely feeling very confident.
26:58As Koji comes down the runway, I'm excited.
27:04I think that it's something that you don't see every day, so I think that the judges will be kind of surprised of what I did.
27:14Seeing my look come down the runway, I really loved my collar and the sweater jacket.
27:19I think that is my favorite part about it.
27:27Katelyn is working my look.
27:29She looks really hot in it.
27:30I love the look that I have created.
27:36I know that maybe now we don't see that many long jackets, but we will.
27:45So, I'm very confident in what I have created.
27:54The judges let us know that it's time to step it up.
27:58My designs have been stepped up the whole time.
28:01I don't feel like I did anything safe or simple.
28:06I really pushed it.
28:07There are only six of you remaining, so we're going to talk to all of you today.
28:18All right.
28:19Christopher, tell us about your look.
28:21Well, my winning look that I used to create this was the red carpet look, and I had done
28:26some textural elements, and what I did to bring that into this piece was I used some
28:31of the same petal work.
28:33Also, I did a graduated piecing to the petals where they start smaller and get larger as
28:39they go down.
28:40Nina, what do you think?
28:41I think that in terms of the proportion, this didn't work at all.
28:45It's so bottom heavy.
28:47It almost looks like she's a carnival float.
28:50There's a pretty gown in there.
28:52I think that you could have used some editing in terms of using all that stuff.
28:56I think the top part of it is really beautiful, but the bottom is a little bit you took the
29:00bed skirt with you.
29:01I don't think that the bedspreads are necessarily horrible.
29:06I just think it's two different gowns and that the worlds kind of don't blend with each
29:10other.
29:11There's nothing that unifies both dresses that are there.
29:15Irina, tell us about your look.
29:20My look has, you know, the same spirit of my Aspen look, except that it's like an evening
29:25look.
29:26It's something you should probably wear to like dinner or cocktail party or, you know, something
29:31that's a little bit more festive.
29:32I wrote down very uptown chic.
29:35She just looked like a former Russian model who just married a millionaire.
29:40I really love this look.
29:42I could totally see my stylist yelling at me before leaving the house.
29:46You know, like make sure you get pictures with the sweater and then take the sweater off
29:49and do pictures.
29:50It's really elegant and yet it's also cozy.
29:54It's definitely, you know, something I would make a call about if I saw on the runway.
29:58I think the coat of colors, locks, the shape is, you know, brilliant.
30:06What I have a real problem with is the tight brocade dress underneath.
30:11It looks cheap.
30:12Irina's the only one today that didn't like this because I liked it too.
30:15So you have three for one today.
30:18I actually liked it.
30:19I thought for a hundred dollars in one day, you've done a great job.
30:23Jordana, tell us about your look.
30:25My original dress was edgy.
30:28So I took the inspiration of the edginess.
30:31I wanted some elegant silhouette.
30:34That's why I added some leather pieces to the jacket.
30:37So your first look was edgy.
30:39So you decided to make this look not edgy.
30:42Well kind of edgy, but with the elegant silhouette.
30:45I don't think this is fun, fashionable, beautiful at all.
30:51The same with what you've done to this beautiful girl.
30:54Her hair, she just looks old and drab and sad.
30:58It doesn't feel strong.
30:59It feels very passive to me.
31:01As opposed to making a statement, it just kind of almost doesn't want to be noticed.
31:07I think between the collar and the darts and the length of that jacket, it, it makes
31:15the look a little dated.
31:16It looks like an office worker in Warsaw, Poland.
31:19It is not.
31:20It's a little, I mean.
31:21I mean, you had such a youthful, beautiful dress before and then this, I'm shocked.
31:26I like it, so I'm sorry.
31:29Carol Hannah, tell us about your look.
31:33My winning look was from the Christina Aguilera and Bob Mackie challenge.
31:38My previous piece had a lot of texture in it and I wanted to kind of play off of that.
31:42I think the simplicity makes the dress kind of delicious and the color is, is really
31:48beautiful.
31:49She reminded me of like Ava Gardner.
31:52I love the lightness.
31:53You know what added to the attitude of lightness were, were the pockets.
31:57I really liked having the pockets.
31:59Oh yeah.
32:00Those were great.
32:01It was really fun.
32:02Okay.
32:03Logan, tell us about your look.
32:04The look could be in the same collection, but this would be more of kind of a pow, like,
32:08wow piece.
32:09I know that it's on the brink of costume, but I think that you could still see it maybe
32:15at the VMAs with pink wearing it or something like that.
32:19What do you think, Nina?
32:21Um, yeah.
32:23It just looks like a, you know, fashion project from a student.
32:27Your ideas are there, but the shapes are not right.
32:29I think it's so unflattering.
32:31It looks eighties to me.
32:33It does scream a little bit Judy Jetson.
32:36Yeah.
32:37No.
32:38It has a futuristic feel.
32:39Doesn't it?
32:40That for me was a little distracting.
32:42Athea, tell us about your look.
32:44The look I was going off of was a suiting look that had a paper bag waist.
32:48And I think really overall it's similar with both looks is just the ease and sort of casualness
32:55of the look while still having a tailored, well-made, nice garment.
33:00I want it.
33:02I love the pants.
33:03Fabulous.
33:04I think they're genius, those pants.
33:06Yeah.
33:07I think the sweater's gorgeous.
33:08Yeah.
33:09I think the sweater's just gorgeous.
33:11Now, who had the first idea of these big, Irina or you?
33:15Were you guys looking at each other?
33:17Who has kind of like these, these big sweaters?
33:20Well, we sketch completely different.
33:22I mean, I had, this was in my original sketch and I'm sure hers was in her original sketch.
33:26Well, I did do the knit in my previous look.
33:29There has been a little bit of, you know, resemblance of things in the workroom.
33:34That was sort of surprising to me.
33:36Sometimes that happens though.
33:37Overall.
33:38When you're put together in a room.
33:39How do you not realize it when it's like six people in a room?
33:42Right.
33:43You know, it's not like 20.
33:44It was my original sketch.
33:45I didn't see that and then change the sweater.
33:48You know what I mean?
33:49It didn't look like that.
33:50No, but I love this look.
33:51I think it is a great look.
33:52And I love the proportion.
33:53You know, this kind of big, oversized, comfortable, easy.
33:58You totally communicate what you're going for.
34:01So I liked it.
34:03Okay.
34:04We've heard what you had to say.
34:05We're going to have a little chat and then I'm going to call you back.
34:08You can leave the runway.
34:13All right.
34:14Let's talk about those with the higher scores.
34:16Let's start with Irina.
34:18I think everything that she designs, I can actually see people wearing her clothes.
34:22I thought it was chic.
34:23I really did think, you know, it looked like the perfect outfit for the perfect arm candy of a millionaire.
34:29She always is thinking about making it look luxe.
34:33Imagine if she had the money.
34:35Mm-hmm.
34:36You know?
34:37It's a beautiful look.
34:40All right.
34:41Let's move on to Althea.
34:42I thought the construction was really good.
34:44The pants were impeccable.
34:45And especially this idea of keeping the look architectural, but still having it be cozy and comfortable.
34:52The model loved it.
34:53Yeah.
34:54I felt good in it.
34:55Yeah.
34:56No, that was fabulous.
34:59Let's talk about Carol Hanna.
35:01The cocktail dress.
35:02Beautiful dress.
35:03So sweet.
35:04A very, very nice dress.
35:05And Lisa looked great modeling it.
35:07She kept it young and sexy.
35:10The pockets that made it also very young.
35:12Yeah.
35:13Love those pockets.
35:14The work that she did with the Charmous and the chiffon was very well done and very refined, very quiet, very elegant.
35:23Really beautiful.
35:24We could all wear that dress.
35:25Oh my gosh.
35:26Yes, we could all wear that dress.
35:27We could all wear it.
35:30Let's talk about those designers with the lower scores.
35:33Let's talk about Logan.
35:34So, Space Odyssey 2001.
35:38It was like an outfit for a music video back in the 80s.
35:41But not even for the lead person.
35:43The background.
35:44Yeah.
35:45It just was strange.
35:46To me it was like, you know those lizards that when they're trying to scare people, they're necks drop out.
35:51Like an indulgent fashion student project.
35:54It just didn't.
35:55Last week I've told him, turn up the volume.
35:58Who are you?
35:59And now he's like, I'm about zippers.
36:01Like 50 in one outfit.
36:04He took that advice to literally.
36:06I know.
36:10All right, let's talk about Jordana.
36:12She wanted to do edgy and elegant and she couldn't really deliver on that.
36:17That was like the saddest drab, most drab thing.
36:21And maybe it's like a personal thing.
36:23I mean I was like, okay, the 80s are back.
36:25You do it.
36:28Let's talk about Christopher.
36:30I've wanted to like the stress.
36:31Who worked really hard on making a thousand petals.
36:34I know.
36:35I wanted to really like this dress because I liked two thirds of it.
36:39But the bottom was heavy.
36:41There's like children hiding underneath.
36:43Terrible, terrible.
36:44Terrible, terrible.
36:45Terrible.
36:46Big thing coming out.
36:47I was like, what is going on?
36:49The way it hangs, it does not look expensive.
36:51It does look like a bed skirt.
36:53It hangs just like that.
36:54He put the bed skirt around three times and that's it.
37:01I think this was one of our toughest decisions, right?
37:05But we did it.
37:07Okay, let's bring them back out.
37:17One of you will be named the winner.
37:19And one of you will be out.
37:26One of you will be named the winner.
37:28And one of you will be out.
37:33Carol, Hannah, you're in.
37:35You can leave the runway.
37:43Althea, you are the winner of this challenge.
37:49We all wanted to walk away with your outfit, but it's mine.
37:53I will be happy to make each and every one of you your own version.
37:57Oh, thank you.
37:59Good job.
38:00Congratulations.
38:01You can leave the runway.
38:03Congrats.
38:04I'm not really exactly sure what Irina was accusing me of copying, but to accuse someone of something on the runway in front of judges and really important people, I feel like it's not an issue of stress, it's an issue of character.
38:19Do you win?
38:20Yeah.
38:21Yes.
38:22You know, that's all right, because I still won.
38:26Even though no one wanted me to.
38:27I'm happy.
38:28I'm happy.
38:29Iwina, you're in.
38:30You can leave the runway.
38:31Christopher, you're in.
38:32You can leave the runway.
38:35Christopher, you're in.
38:36You can leave the runway.
38:38Logan, Jordana, one of you will be out.
38:40Jordana, this suit had nothing to do with your previous look.
38:41This outfit was sad, drab.
38:42This outfit was sad.
38:43Drab.
38:44You're in.
38:45You can leave the runway.
38:46Christopher, you're in.
38:47You can leave the runway.
38:49Logan, Jordana, one of you will be out.
38:51Logan, Jordana, one of you will be out.
38:56Jordana, this suit had nothing to do with your previous look.
39:07This outfit was sad, drab, and dated.
39:12Logan, your look was too tricked out.
39:15Yes, we did tell you to turn up the volume, but this was like a bunch of zippers exploded
39:20on your dress.
39:21You really needed to edit.
39:26Josemo.
39:27Solon.
39:29Jordana, Jordana.
39:33You're in.
39:34Thank you very much.
39:47That means, Logan, you're out.
39:50Afidavid.
39:52Thank you so much.
39:59I'm surprised that I'm going home for taking a risk
40:02and for showing them something that's innovative and kind of out there.
40:08I'm definitely not a designer that's for, you know,
40:12middle America or 90% of the population.
40:15So I think that, you know, the people that see what I put down the runway,
40:19they'll get it.
40:20If they don't, then they don't.
40:22And, you know, I'm not trying to please everyone.
40:25You're a great designer.
40:26We're going to hear more from you.
40:28Yes, you will.
40:28Good.
40:29Thank you, guys.
40:30Thanks, Logan.
40:33This whole thing has just been so crazy.
40:36I'm looking forward to the future,
40:38and I'm looking forward to the next step
40:40and the opportunities that I know are coming my way.
40:45This isn't the end for me.
40:47It's really the beginning.
