00:00Welcome to the new video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:04Today we're talking about the Kia Tasman Weekender,
00:07which was presented as a beefy concept vehicle at the Seoul Mobility Show 2025
00:11and presents itself as a true off-road statement both visually and technically.
00:17The Tasman Weekender is Kia's interpretation of a serious opponent for the Ford Ranger Raptor.
00:23An angular pickup that almost looks as if it stepped out of an oversized LEGO technology set.
00:30With wide fenders, now painted in the body color,
00:33and massive 35-inch off-road tires from BF Goodrich,
00:37the vehicle appears significantly more harmonious than the sometimes polarizing production model.
00:44The reworked front end with a new black plastic strip and shorter bumper corners
00:49not only improves proportions but also reduces the risk of headlight damage off-road.
00:56This also results in an optimized approach angle.
01:00A clear signal to anyone who wants to take the Tasman seriously off-road.
01:04Technically, it remains with the familiar 2.2L turbodiesel 4-cylinder with 210 hp and 441 Nm of torque.
01:14In some markets, a 2.5L petrol engine with 280 hp and 422 Nm is offered as an alternative.
01:22A larger 6-cylinder engine is already available from the competition,
01:28but was ruled out by Kia due to strict emissions regulations.
01:33The Weekender also offers functional features such as an integrated cable winch,
01:39sturdy grab handles on the B-pillars and a generous storage box in the rear.
01:42What is still missing is a snorkel.
01:46This will, however, be available as an official accessory for the production model.
01:51Kia has set the direction with the Weekender,
01:54even if this model remains only a concept for the time being.
01:58Whether a production version will follow is open, but the chances are not bad.
02:02Even though Kia CEO Ho-Sang Song emphasizes that they are seriously considering a pickup truck for the USA,
02:10it will not be the Tasman.
02:13And unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll be seeing the Tasman in Europe anytime soon.
02:20Further information is expected to be announced on April 9 at Kia's Investor Day.
02:26As always, you'll find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
