Beide Fahrzeuge sind bekannt für ihre Geländefähigkeit und ihre lange Tradition – doch sie verfolgen ganz unterschiedliche Konzepte. 00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog comparing the Toyota Land Cruiser with the Mercedes G-Class.
00:09Please note that our comparison is not a real direct comparison, but only a virtual side-by-side.
00:16The vehicles in the video are example vehicles for visual representation.
00:21The Toyota Land Cruiser and the Mercedes G-Class are two absolute classics when it comes to off-road use.
00:27Both have been in use for decades and are known for their off-road capabilities, but with different approaches.
00:35The Land Cruiser clearly focuses on functionality, robustness and ease of use.
00:41Its angular shape, steep flanks and functional headlights, round on the first edition, otherwise square, clearly show that the focus here is on getting through off-road.
00:51The G-Class, on the other hand, appears more powerful and luxurious.
00:54Typical are the striking, toothed proportions, large wheel arches for up to 22-inch wheels and small but striking design.
01:04Changes in the 224 facelift such as a grille with four slats and a new bumper.
01:10The AMG version takes things up a notch visually and appears significantly sportier thanks to special aerodynamic parts.
01:17The interior of the Land Cruiser is digital yet practical, with two 12.3-inch displays, classic climate controls, USB-C ports, and a wide center tunnel with switches for all-wheel drive, driving mode, rear axle lock, and a wireless charging station.
01:33The SDM system also ensures that the front stabilizer can be decoupled, providing greater flexibility off-road.
01:42Depending on the seating configuration, the trunk volume ranges from around 170 liters with a third row of seats in place, to around 740 liters in the five-seater, to 2,000 liters with the seats folded down.
01:53The G-Class offers more comfort and luxury in the interior.
01:57It also features two 12.3-inch displays, stylish air vents, a new steering wheel, and options including 11.6-inch rear screens, a Burmaster system with Dolby Atmos, and a voice assistant.
02:10The trunk starts at 640 liters and also goes up to over 2,000 liters, although the side-opening rear door with a spare tire or storage space for charging cables isn't always practical.
02:22Engine-wise, the Land Cruiser is equipped with a 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with 205 horsepower and 500 newton-meters, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission with front gears and permanent all-wheel drive.
02:35Center and rear axle differentials can be locked. Off-road modes are diverse. The G-Class offers significantly more options.
02:44The G45D is available as a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel with 67 horsepower and 750 millimeters of travel, as well as an e-boost of 20 horsepower and 200 millimeters.
02:53There's also a 3.0-liter gasoline engine with 49 horsepower, the AMG G360 with a turbocharged 360 horsepower, and the fully-electric G85EQ with 587 horsepower and a 116 kilowatt-hours battery.
03:07The electric G-Class has a range of up to 455 kilometers, has an electric motor per wheel, and can even turn on the spot.
03:14With 24 centimeters of ground clearance, three lockable differentials, a 70 centimeters weighting depth, and a 31 degrees approach and 30 degrees exit angle, it demonstrates that electric models are also capable of off-road use.
03:28A new off-road cockpit allows the all-wheel drive function to be controlled directly via the display.
