Der Kia EV2 kommt – und bringt frischen Wind ins Segment der kompakten Elektro-SUVs. Vorgestellt auf dem Car Design Event in München, beeindruckt die knapp über 4 Meter lange Studie mit markantem Design, nachhaltigen Innenraummaterialien und einem innovativen Konzept für urbane Mobilität.

00:04Today, we're all about the new compact electric crossover Kia EV2,
00:08with which the Korean brand plans to round off its electric car range at the lower end from 2026.
00:14The small but strikingly designed SUV was unveiled as a Concept Z vehicle at the car design event in Munich.
00:22At just over 4 meters long, the EV2 is in the same league as models such as the Jeep Avenger or the upcoming Skoda Epic,
00:29and is part of the Kia model family as an entry-level SUV.
00:34The EV2's striking, modern design is also typical of Kia and is clearly based on the brand's current SUV trends.
00:43The small electric car is offered with two different battery capacities.
00:49The basic version uses the more cost-effective lithium-iron phosphate technology,
00:53while the more powerful version will probably use nickel-based cells.
00:59Kia wants to achieve an attractive entry-level price of around €30,000 with this.
01:05However, the manufacturer has not yet announced any technical details about the drive system.
01:10Kia is much more specific when it comes to the interior, however.
01:14Here, the company wants to move away from conventional plastics and focus more on bio-based, sustainable materials.
01:20Together with partner companies such as BOM from Switzerland, Simplify Bear from the USA and the Bulgarian company Biomike,
01:28Kia is developing innovative solutions for more environmentally-friendly vehicle production.
01:35For example, the Concept EV2 vehicle study uses a flax fiber-based material from the cleantech company BOM.
01:41It is used in the rear seat shell and the front seat substructure and can be recycled and reused as composite granulate after the car's life cycle.
01:54For the dashboard and door panels, Kia is working with Simplify Bear, which is made from wood, paper or recycled textiles.
02:01The mixture used in the Concept EV2 consists of cellulose fibers, natural rubber latex, bio-based binders and an 11% share of synthetic fibers.
02:15Thanks to a liquid-based manufacturing process, traditional spinning or weaving is no longer necessary.
02:21The interior concept is also complemented by Biomike, an award-winning company from Bulgaria that has developed over 180 different material samples made from mushroom material,
02:34more precisely hemp and moss, with various colors, coatings and additives.
02:40The aim is to install durable and at the same time biodegradable components in the interior.
02:45Oliver Sampson, head of the European Kia Design Studio in Frankfurt, also reveals exciting details about the design of the EV2 in the video above, directly from the car design event.
02:59The production version of the Kia EV2 is expected to be launched in Europe and other markets in 2026.
