00:00Welcome to the Tuning Blog Video, where we introduce you to the all-new Kia Tasman, Kia's first pickup truck.
00:14The Tasman brings a breath of fresh air from Korea to the world of trucks and is ready to give established competitors like the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Helix A run for their money.
00:22Before we go into detail, remember to subscribe to our newsletter so you don't miss any exciting news.
00:31The Kia Tasman offers everything you could want from a next-generation pickup truck.
00:37A distinctive, independent design, off-road capabilities and numerous equipment options.
00:44The Tasman will be available with both a single and a double cab and will even be available as a chassis cab in some markets.
00:52Unfortunately, it won't be available in Europe, but countries like South Korea, Australia, the Middle East and Africa can look forward to the new Kia truck.
01:04Its appearance is striking due to the unusual corduroy cladding of the body, which is equipped with black plastic on the wheel arches and optionally surrounds the entire wheel arch.
01:15The front end of the Tasman is also particularly striking.
01:19Vertical headlights that are shifted to the sides, an oversized Kia logo and a powerful bonnet give the truck a muscular presence that does not go unnoticed.
01:31Inside, the Tasman does not present itself as a classic rugged truck, but offers comfort and technology that are more reminiscent of a passenger car.
01:39Kia has equipped the Tasman with three screens, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 5-inch screen in the center console and another 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.
01:56Despite the modern screen design, Kia has made sure to retain some traditional switches for the most important functions.
02:02This ensures intuitive operation, where you don't have to constantly swipe through menus.
02:10The practical off-road functions show that the Tasman is a real workhorse.
02:16There is a limited-slip differential switch and a low-range mode activation option.
02:22The dimensions of the Tasman are also impressive.
02:25Measuring 5.830 meters long and 1.9 meters wide, it offers enough space for everything a truck needs to transport.
02:35The 3.7 meters wheelbase ensures stable handling on a wide range of terrain.
02:42Depending on the market, the Tasman is powered by a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission and is available with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
02:50In Korea, a 2.5-liter petrol engine with 281 horsepower is used, which accelerates the truck to 100 kilometers per hour in 8.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 185 kilometers per hour.
03:08In Australia, there is a 2.2-liter turbodiesel with 210 horsepower, which achieves a similar top speed but takes 10.4 seconds to reach the 100 kilometers per hour mark.
03:20With a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 kilograms and a payload capacity of up to 1,195 kilograms, the Tasman is more than just a fancy truck.
03:33Its cargo box measures 1.16 cubic meters, providing ample space for tools or equipment.
03:39The robust double wishbone front axle and rigid rear axle with leaf springs ensure that it can handle even the most demanding terrain.
03:50The Kia Tasman is built to withstand water up to 80 centimeters deep.
03:57Special waterproof connectors protect the interior from water ingress.
04:00The Tasman is also available with all-terrain tires, which are either 17 or 18 inches in size, as well as multiple driving modes such as desert, mud, snow and rock, to safely master a wide variety of surfaces.
04:16The Kia Tasman also leaves nothing to be desired in terms of comfort.
04:21Kia promises class-leading headroom, shoulder room and legroom in the second row.
04:26The rear seats can be adjusted by 22 to 30 degrees depending on your preference and offer additional storage space under the seats if required.
04:37There are two wireless charging stations for mobile devices, a Harman Kardon sound system, a practical console table and even grab handles on the A-pillars.
04:45A special highlight are the 13 accessories that Kia will be offering from the start of sales.
04:54These include beadlock-style wheels, side steps, an illuminated cargo area with various options such as butterfly doors, a sliding-to-no cover or a roll bar.
05:06Those looking for even more adventure can even equip the Tasman with a roof rack for a roof tent.
05:10The Kia Tasman is set to launch in South Korea in mid-2025, followed by Australia, Africa and the Middle East.
05:22Kia is even planning a separate market launch for Saudi Arabia at the Jeddah International Motor Show.
05:30The company is also working on an all-electric model that is set to hit the market by 2027.
05:35This all-electric Tasman could also be offered in other markets, perhaps even in Europe.
05:44Finally, we would like to remind you to subscribe so that you don't miss any more exciting news and tests like this one in the future.
