00:00Hello and welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog about the 2nd generation Suzuki Grand Vitara.
00:20As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
00:25The 2nd generation Suzuki Grand Vitara, built between 2005 and 2015, is considered a versatile off-road vehicle that impresses both in everyday life and off-road.
00:40Unlike its predecessor, this model relies on a self-supporting body with an integrated ladder frame to master the balancing act between ride comfort and off-road capability.
00:49It was offered as a 3- and 5-door model and is characterized by robust design, improved safety features and solid interior workmanship.
01:00In Europe, various engine options were available.
01:06The range of petrol engines ranged from the 1.6L four-cylinder to the 3.2L V6.
01:11The 1.6L engine produced around 120hp and achieved a torque of around 155Nm, while the 2.0L four-cylinder with 142hp and around 180Nm of torque was a solid all-rounder.
01:28The 2.4L petrol engine with 168hp and around 230Nm of torque was also particularly popular, offering a good balance of performance and reliability.
01:42More power was provided by the V6 engines with 2.7 or 3.2L displacement, which, depending on the market inversion, delivered between 188 and 234hp and 250 to almost 300Nm of torque.
01:56Those who preferred diesel engines usually opted for the 1.9L DDS engine from Renault, which delivered 129hp and around 300Nm of torque.
02:08This diesel version was particularly popular due to its high torque and comparatively moderate fuel consumption.
02:14The manual 5-speed or 6-speed transmission ensured power transmission in many variants.
02:23Alternatively, 4- or 5-speed automatic transmissions were available, depending on the engine.
02:28Thanks to the permanent all-wheel drive with lockable center differential and low-gear transmission, the Grand Vitara proved to be extremely capable off-road.
02:39Depending on the engine, the top speed was between around 160 and almost 200 km per hour, which is impressive considering its off-road credentials.
02:52Depending on the equipment, the interior featured electric windows, air conditioning, leather upholstery, and modern audio and navigation systems.
03:00With a length of around 4.5 meters in the 5-door version, the vehicle offered sufficient space for families and luggage.
03:11Safety was also not neglected, as models of this generation were often equipped with front, side, and head airbags as well as driving stability and traction control.
03:20The Grand Vitara was carefully revised over the course of its production life, with a facelift towards the end of the 2000s bringing a modified front-end and modernized engines.
03:35The prices for a new Grand Vitara varied depending on the equipment and engine, usually between a little over €20,000 and just under €30,000.
03:42Use models, especially those with the 1.9L diesel or the 2.4L petrol engine, are relatively affordable these days.
03:54Nevertheless, models with low mileage and good maintenance are valued by connoisseurs, as this model is often considered a reliable workhorse and universal leisure companion.
04:03Production of the 2nd generation finally ended in 2015, although the Suzuki Vitara was introduced as its successor, the direct off-road heritage of the classic remains popular to this day.
