00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today, we're all about the Suzuki A-Cross Plug-In Hybrid,
00:07which is attracting our attention with its high performance and utility value.
00:12The Suzuki A-Cross is a nearly identical twin of the successful Toyota R4
00:17and joins the growing number of so-called rebate vehicles.
00:23Models that are designed by one manufacturer and adopted by another with minor changes.
00:27In the case of the A-Cross, Suzuki uses the technology of the Toyota Reffier,
00:33as the Japanese small car specialist has not yet had its own plug-in hybrids or larger SUV models in its portfolio.
00:40By cooperating with Toyota, Suzuki not only saves on development costs, but also meets important CO2 fleet targets.
00:48The ACoSS is therefore only available as a plug-in hybrid with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and electric motors.
00:55A full hybrid version without a plug, as is available with the A-R4, does not exist from Suzuki.
01:02In the 2024 model year, the Suzuki A-Cross was a real exotic on German roads.
01:08Only 216 examples had been registered by November, rarer than a Ferrari SF90.
01:15By comparison, the Toyota R had 5,482 registrations in the same period.
01:20Visually, the A-R4 stands out clearly from the mass of mostly rounded SUVs with a length of 4.6 meters and a height of almost 1.7 meters.
01:31With its angular lines, it conveys a robust off-road look, which is reinforced by the distinctive front section.
01:37This differs significantly from the Toyota original and gives the Suzuki a stylish and more striking appearance.
01:46The interior is pure Toyota, apart from the Suzuki logo on the steering wheel.
01:50The AeroCross adopts the interior almost unchanged, including the 10.5-inch touchscreen with navigation and wireless smartphone connection as well as the 12.3-inch digital cockpit.
02:03However, the user-friendliness is mixed.
02:09The infotainment system seems basic.
02:12The navigation is not particularly intuitive and the integration of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay shows weaknesses,
02:18especially when the smartphone is being charged via cable at the same time.
02:21There is also no option for inductive charging and the control panel to the left of the steering wheel is difficult to see while driving.
02:30The Suzuki impresses with its spaciousness.
02:33The front seats are large and comfortable.
02:36The driver's seat is electrically adjustable, including lumbar support.
02:40The front passenger seat, on the other hand, does not offer height adjustment and has to be adjusted.
02:44In the rear, the AeroCross offers plenty of space, an adjustable backrest and good head and legroom.
02:51The large trunk is practical, even if there is no remote release for the rear seat.
02:57The charging cable can be stowed under the floor, which keeps things tidy.
03:02The Suzuki AeroCross shows its strengths particularly in winter.
03:06Thanks to standard all-wheel drive, there are no traction problems.
03:10All four outer seats are heated, as are the steering wheel and the windshield.
03:16Only the latter without visible heating wires.
03:19Preheating is also possible, completely without auxiliary heating thanks to a built-in heat pump.
03:25Details like these make the AeroCross an ideal companion in the cold season.
03:31Under the hood is the well-known plug-in hybrid drive from Toyota, which offers a system output of 306 horsepower.
03:37The interaction of the combustion engine and electric motors ensures powerful acceleration.
03:43The SUV, which weighs almost 2 tons, accelerates to 100 kilometers per hour in just 6.2 seconds.
03:51The top speed is officially limited to 180 kilometers per hour.
03:56In our case, the speedometer even reached 198 kilometers per hour.
04:01Measured with GPS, it was around 144 kilometers per hour.
04:05Despite this impressive performance, the four-cylinder engine is unpleasantly loud under high load,
04:12which can be irritating when driving quickly on the motorway.
04:15In everyday life, the Suzuki proves to be flexible.
04:19In EV Muse, it runs purely on electricity.
04:22In our case, it can travel up to 55 kilometers.
04:25The full hybrid mode keeps the battery level constant,
04:28while the charge mode recharges via the combustion engine, but at the expense of efficiency.
04:32In city traffic, consumption in hybrid mode is around 6L per 100 kilometers.
04:39In purely electric mode, we calculated around 25 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers.
04:45On the motorway, consumption increases noticeably.
04:49When driving at a brisk pace, over 10 liters remain,
04:52and when driving with cruise control for around 130 hours, 9 liters remain.
04:56The tank officially holds 55 liters, but a refill warning is given after only about 40 liters.
05:04The battery with a capacity of 8.1 kilowatt hours can only be charged slowly.
05:10The integrated onboard charger delivers a maximum of 3.3 kilowatts,
05:14which extends a full charge at the wallbox to around 4 hours.
05:18It takes significantly longer at a household socket.
05:22This often means charging for an entire night.
05:25In terms of driving dynamics, the Suzuki Across shows no weaknesses.
05:29The chassis is tuned for comfort and irons out uneven surfaces with ease.
05:34The steering is unobtrusive, but offers a pleasant mix of feedback and ease of movement.
05:39The assistance systems are functional, but not intrusive.
05:45The speed warning system can be deactivated, but it is not entirely intuitive.
05:51Overall, the Eros is ideal for relaxed long-distance journeys,
05:55also thanks to the smooth-running 19-inch wheels.
05:58There are no surprises when it comes to price.
06:01The Suzuki Aerocross costs exactly 58,100 euros in the only available equipment line, Comfort Plus.
06:09That's a high price, even when you consider the extensive equipment and all-wheel drive.
06:15For comparison, the Toyota Rough Viewer Plug-In Hybrid starts at around 52,800 euros.
06:23With similar equipment, it costs around 56,700 euros,
06:27but also offers a head-up display and a digital rear-view mirror.
06:31The Ĺ koda Kodiak as a Plug-In Hybrid starts at around 50,000 euros.
06:36The VW Tairon E Hybrid costs around 53,400 euros.
06:42Also comparable, but not cheaper with similar equipment.
06:46Overall, the Suzuki Cross proves to be a solid choice in the Plug-In SUV segment.
06:52Spacious, powerfully powered, very suitable for winter use and well-equipped.
06:56Compared to the Toyota Rougheo, you have to do without some comfort functions,
07:01but you get a more striking design in some exclusive extras.
07:07If you don't mind the slightly higher price and can live with minor operating weaknesses,
07:11the Suzuki Aircross is a reliable companion, especially in cold temperatures.
