00:18BYD, the Chinese technology group based in Shenzhen, is once again showing its ambitions
00:23with the launch of the Shark in Australia on October 28, 2024. The Shark 6 is a new
00:29energy vehicle designed for off-road use and has already been successfully introduced in markets
00:34such as Mexico, Panama, the Dominican Republic and most recently in Brazil.
00:42Now BYD is venturing further down under with this hybrid pickup,
00:46while the model was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in April.
00:51Powered by a combination of electric and internal combustion engines,
00:54the BYD Shark achieves an impressive output of over 430 horsepower.
00:59The pickup accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 5.7 seconds and reaches a top speed
01:07of 160 kilometers per hour. The two electric motors share the workload, with the front motor generating
01:18170 kilowatts of power and 310 newm of torque, while the rear motor provides support with 150 kilowatts
01:25and 340 newm of torque.
01:31A highlight of the Shark is its electric range.
01:33It can cover up to 100 kilometers in pure electric mode, while the combined total range is an impressive 845 kilometers.
01:41Added to this are modern features such as intelligent all-wheel drive, independent suspension and the vehicle-to-load function.
01:51Thanks to this function, the Shark can supply external devices with power, which can be very useful in certain situations.
01:57The BYD Shark measures 5,457 millimeters in length, 1,971 millimeters in width and 1,925 millimeters in height.
02:13With a generous wheelbase of 3,260 millimeters, the pickup offers plenty of space and stability on any terrain.
02:24The underlying DMO platform, where DM stands for dual mode and O for off-road, makes it the perfect companion for demanding journeys on and off the road.
02:33The Shark 6 was presented in Cambodia at the end of October, where the model is expected to be launched at a price of around âŹ54,000.
02:43This makes the Shark a target market for Cambodia in East Asia.
02:47Interestingly, the Shark is not yet available in China, but was primarily developed for international markets.
02:55With partners such as Harmony Auto and an increased focus on the Asia-Pacific region, BYD is demonstrating its strategy to further expand in the NEF segment.
