00:00:30...holding the cup for Silky.
00:00:33That is sensational!
00:00:42Silky are the champions!
00:01:00It's been a dramatic week at Celtic that sees Brendan Rodgers out and Martin O'Neill in to lead the team, 20 years after he last did it.
00:01:12He and Sean Maloney will take charge on an interim basis until a new permanent manager is appointed.
00:01:17But the football doesn't pause with two huge games coming up for Celtic in the next four days.
00:01:23Yes, the next chapter is about to begin.
00:01:29Falkirk manager John McGlynn brings his side to Celtic Park.
00:01:33The fans will give our legendary manager a huge reception.
00:01:36McGlynn's job is to silence them.
00:01:38Kick-off is just 30 minutes away.
00:01:41Yes, welcome along to our live coverage of tonight's Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Falkirk.
00:01:50Celtic desperate to get back to winning ways with three points tonight.
00:01:54And Martin O'Neill in charge.
00:01:55A blast from the past.
00:01:57Talking of a blast from the past.
00:01:58Here's Peter Grant next to me.
00:02:00Peter, before we look at the team that Martin and Sean have chosen, your reaction to the fact that Martin is here?
00:02:07He said yesterday you can call it hold the fort, steady the ship, all those kind of things.
00:02:11Is he the right man to do that?
00:02:13Absolutely.
00:02:13The way things have happened, I agree 100% because I think it was important you do steady it with an experienced hand.
00:02:19It's a fantastic football club with a lot of pressure.
00:02:22You've got to win all the time.
00:02:24Martin's been over the course.
00:02:25I know it was many, many years ago, but you never lose it.
00:02:27People talk about dinosaurs and all that.
00:02:29He's got experienced young kids with him as well, in his eyes, and Sean and Mark Fotheringham.
00:02:34He's got the aim to have that enthusiasm on the training ground.
00:02:37His ability and his football knowledge will never leave him.
00:02:39He still speaks very, very fondly for his time at Celtic Football Club.
00:02:43And the fans obviously love him.
00:02:44So it's an important one, and I think it's definitely one that's the right call to bring in to steady that ship.
00:02:49We'll talk more about Martin and Sean in a second.
00:02:52We'll hear from Martin as well.
00:02:54Before that, let's have a look at the team then.
00:02:55Martin O'Neill and Sean Maloney, assisted by Steve McManus.
00:03:00Mark Fotheringham as well, as part of the backroom team, have gone with this selection tonight.
00:03:04Kasper Schmeichel in goal.
00:03:05The back four of Anthony Ralston, Austin Trusty, Liam Scales and Marcelo Saracci.
00:03:10Callum McGregor, Benjamin Negrin and Arne Engels in the middle with James Forrest and Sebastian Tenecki out wide.
00:03:16And Johnny Kenny through the middle.
00:03:19Most notable guys on the bench there.
00:03:21Dyson Maeda, good to see him back in the squad.
00:03:23Callum Osmond as well, another striking option up front for Celtic.
00:03:31Falkert come here.
00:03:32Well, they're sitting just in the top six.
00:03:35Celtic made short shrift of it when Falkert came here in August in the League Cup.
00:03:40John McGlynn will have his team very organised.
00:03:42Scott Bain, I'm sure, will have a nice smile on his face when he meets some of his old teammates
00:03:46as to what's going on this week at his old club.
00:03:50But he will be there to try and stop Celtic doing what we've struggled to do a lot this season.
00:03:55And that is score goals.
00:03:59So that's where we are.
00:04:01Peter, we have Martin O'Neill in charge.
00:04:03He has an aura about him.
00:04:05The players that play, you didn't get the opportunity to play under Martin.
00:04:09But the players who did, they talk about him so fondly.
00:04:13And he's obviously got a real aura in the dressing room.
00:04:17And we hope that comes across when he's pre-matched team talk tonight.
00:04:20Yeah, most definitely.
00:04:21I mean, you've seen the team he had.
00:04:22There's a lot of experienced players.
00:04:23I coached against Martin in many games when it was down south.
00:04:26So I know what these teams are like.
00:04:27They're very, very difficult to beat.
00:04:29You can see even his first team selection with a little bit more experience in the group
00:04:32being brought into the team.
00:04:33They're bringing Tony Rawlson back at fullback.
00:04:35Simple things that you just think Martin knows how
00:04:38to put teams together.
00:04:40He tries to put a group of men together with one aim is to try and win a match.
00:04:44That's what he's always done.
00:04:45And you've seen that with a fantastic team he had here with some wonderful, wonderful players.
00:04:49Unfortunately for him, he hasn't got any players to select from.
00:04:51You know, there's a few injury problems and whatever.
00:04:54But he's going with this team.
00:04:55He's put out a team here with the help and the knowledge of Sean.
00:04:58Because Sean's been running about the building and seen the team
00:05:00and who's been playing well and training well.
00:05:01So that knowledge will be important for him.
00:05:03But Martin O'Neill back here is a hero at Celtic Park, that's for sure.
00:05:07Absolutely. And as soon as Martin arrived at Celtic Park, I was there to meet him.
00:05:11And after a quick change into a smart suit, him, not me, he sat down after a crazy few hours
00:05:16in his life to try and describe his feelings at being back at the club he loves so much.
00:05:20Martin, what can I say? Welcome back to Celtic.
00:05:28For a bit of context, you've literally just arrived at the park.
00:05:32You're about to hold your first press conference.
00:05:34It's been a bit of a whirlwind, 24 hours I'm sure.
00:05:37What's your overriding emotion right now as we sit here?
00:05:39Wow, you're right.
00:05:41It's really, there I was minding my own business about 24 hours ago and I got a call from Dermot
00:05:49and I said you, obviously Brendan had resigned at that stage and would I come in and come
00:05:59in until they got a permanent manager.
00:06:01And I got 10 minutes to make a decision on it, typical Dermot really.
00:06:09Excited about the challenge, never thought that any of this here could ever, ever happen,
00:06:15I must admit.
00:06:16So to a certain extent, I'm probably still in a state of shock.
00:06:21However, you have to get over that there because there's a game tomorrow night
00:06:24and it's all happening right in front of you.
00:06:27So it is, it's until Celtic appoint a permanent manager, that could be in a week, that could
00:06:34be in three weeks' time or two months or whatever the case may be.
00:06:38But really, you know, delighted to be here, excited by it, nervously excited by it as well
00:06:45too, like everything else and probably still haven't, as I'm speaking to you, probably still
00:06:50haven't really got over it yet.
00:06:51You've got a rich legacy at this football club, Martin, you wouldn't have said yes to
00:06:56coming back, even on an interim basis, if you didn't feel like you could help.
00:07:00So how do you feel like you could help?
00:07:02Well, it's an interesting thing.
00:07:03You talk about, you talk about legacies, which doesn't bother me one jot really.
00:07:08It's not, it's not.
00:07:09If you're really talking about a legacy, just look at the cup behind you and where the immortal
00:07:14jog steam stood.
00:07:15So everything else is like almost secondary in that sense.
00:07:19And until Celtic go and win the Champions League again, that will remain that.
00:07:25So in essence, that doesn't really bother me at all.
00:07:28It's coming in to try and maybe hold the fort, call it what you want, you know, all those
00:07:33sort of phrases, I don't really know.
00:07:35But it's to do that there, just to maybe, and perhaps even for me, to get a bit of excitement
00:07:40back into my life again.
00:07:41I think that, I think that, that's probably the buzz for me.
00:07:45What does this football club mean to you?
00:07:47Obviously, you've won trophies as a manager, as everyone knows before, but the club runs
00:07:52deep with you.
00:07:53Like a lot of Celtic supporters, it's in your blood.
00:07:55Well, it does.
00:07:56And I'm probably, you'll say to me, oh, I'm bored listening to this here.
00:08:00But I remember years and years ago when I was growing up, trying to become a professional
00:08:05footballer, or certainly thinking about it anyway.
00:08:08And my father said, have you ever got a mat to play for Celtic?
00:08:13Take it, son.
00:08:13You know, well, that never materialised because the day that Celtic arrived to watch me playing
00:08:17for distillery, I was really poor.
00:08:19So it never materialised.
00:08:21So I get the second best thing, if there's such a thing as actually managing the football
00:08:24club.
00:08:25A great privilege, genuinely a great, great privilege for me to do it.
00:08:30And, yeah, but a bit of success along the way was obviously icing on the cake.
00:08:36And so the coming back, the coming back in terms of what you think it does, doesn't really
00:08:43bother me.
00:08:44It might only, as I say, money might be of a short period of time, but it's really exciting.
00:08:55Martin O'Neill speaking to me yesterday after arriving back at the club.
00:08:58The thing that strikes me about Martin, Peter, as I've got to know him over the last couple
00:09:02of years, is he can be quite disarming.
00:09:05He's got a great wit, which we witnessed yesterday in an interview and his subsequent news conference
00:09:09as well.
00:09:11But those who know him and know him best, the players who have played under him know that
00:09:15when he means business, he can get very serious and he can be very good at getting his point
00:09:19across.
00:09:20That will be important because a lot of the players might not know who he is exactly.
00:09:25So he needs to get that message across tonight.
00:09:27Very much so.
00:09:28I mean, the one thing he's forgot, he's put a blue suit on.
00:09:30I'm surprised at that.
00:09:31You know what I mean?
00:09:32That's for sure.
00:09:33But listen, the way he talks, his enthusiasm, it doesn't matter how old you're coming to
00:09:37this football club, what this club means, you know, what the fans mean to, you know,
00:09:40winning games of football.
00:09:41There's not a better feeling in the world.
00:09:43And he brings that enthusiasm.
00:09:45He's got Sean in there and Mark and Mick in with him, doing the tactical stuff probably
00:09:49with him.
00:09:50Mark's been a, Mark's always been a...
00:09:52Well, that if Sean wishes he could be out there doing this again.
00:09:54Yeah, well, that was some goal.
00:09:55He's got that one of those, that's his dream goal there, for sure.
00:09:57But what a wonderful player he was.
00:09:59I was fortunate enough to coach him as well.
00:10:00He's a wonderful player.
00:10:01But now he knows his other side and it's completely different now.
00:10:04When you go on this side, I've been there myself and I've come back as a coach as well.
00:10:07It's a completely different feeling because you're concentrating the game.
00:10:10You don't want to be that supporter with the scarf on because I felt that was,
00:10:13the thing that I've probably done too much.
00:10:14I didn't want to be that supporter.
00:10:16I wanted to be a qualified coach on the pitch.
00:10:19And he needs to be in Martin's eyes.
00:10:21As Martin watching the game, he needs to be tinkering with certain things.
00:10:24And let's be honest, Peter, it's great to look back at moments like that.
00:10:26But as Martin admits, he wouldn't be here under normal circumstances.
00:10:31And the reason they're here is because results haven't been great.
00:10:34Performances haven't been great.
00:10:36The most recent one at Tyne Castle, which essentially for Brendan Rodgers,
00:10:40essentially was the straw that broke the Camel's back, shall we call it that.
00:10:44I mean, Hearts out-fought.
00:10:46Celtic deserve to win the game.
00:10:49Well, I'm a wee bit against that, Gerry.
00:10:51I must admit, the first half I thought, the first ten minutes of this typical Tyne Castle,
00:10:55a wee bit of fight here.
00:10:56But I thought the team grew in.
00:10:57I thought Callum McGregor was excellent.
00:10:59I thought Celtic were overrunning them.
00:11:01Callum gets a fantastic goal.
00:11:02And I thought up to half-time Celtic were a much better side.
00:11:04And I thought they were going to get in and want it comfortably.
00:11:06I just think the goals were so bad.
00:11:08I'm looking at this here.
00:11:09As soon as he cuts inside, Arne Ingles has got to go, bang, you know, get the tackle.
00:11:13There's no excuse for that.
00:11:15People are talking about young Dane Murray, but Arne Ingles' job as a midfield player
00:11:17is to go out and block that ball.
00:11:19This one, again, Callum lets runner go.
00:11:21Braga goes, so it's an experienced player.
00:11:23Then a young and experienced player goes and dangles his foot.
00:11:25We are told not to do in the box.
00:11:27So there was two circumstances happened within a five-minute period.
00:11:30And that's what killed the game.
00:11:32That's what killed the game.
00:11:32And I felt in that, after 10, the initial first 10 minutes, I thought Celtic was a better
00:11:37team.
00:11:38I thought Callum McGill was running the show.
00:11:40Then all of a sudden, it just fell to his head.
00:11:41And then once they went to two goals, the game was finished.
00:11:44Then it just petered out, forgive the pun bit.
00:11:46And obviously, I was a bit of concern in the way the game finished, I must admit.
00:11:50Regardless of how the players feel towards Brendan Rodgers, and I'm sure that the vast majority,
00:11:55if not all of them, will remember him fondly.
00:11:58But will they get a lift from just a change?
00:12:02It's a difficult one because Brendan done such a wonderful job.
00:12:06He's brought a lot of these guys to the club, obviously.
00:12:09And the style he was wanting to play and winning trophies with them.
00:12:13I know some of you guys, I know you have not won trophies with them.
00:12:16But there's no getting away from that.
00:12:17You missed that.
00:12:18Especially with somebody that was popular.
00:12:20All of a sudden, you get back in, there's certain things happen.
00:12:23And the results weren't right.
00:12:24And for any manager, it doesn't matter how good you are.
00:12:27I know for myself, it doesn't matter how good you are.
00:12:29If you're not getting results, if you're not getting performances,
00:12:31there was always something going to give.
00:12:33And it was a massive week, no matter what.
00:12:35You had Hearts, you had tonight, and you had Rangers at the weekend.
00:12:38So it was always going to be a massive week, one way or another.
00:12:40And that was when the players' performance, or Brendan, if they don't win any games.
00:12:43And there's always the pressure on a manager at Celtic Football Club
00:12:46because you have to win matches.
00:12:48You have to play with a certain style.
00:12:49And unfortunately, there's been too many games like that.
00:12:51In fact, it was a Falkirk game probably here.
00:12:53It was our best performance in the cup.
00:12:55We will get to that, but before that, let's hear from somebody
00:12:59who probably took the defeat to Hearts worse than most
00:13:02because it is tough to take, not just for the fans,
00:13:04but also to some of the players, especially those that bleed Celtic.
00:13:07Like Kieran Tierney, back at the club,
00:13:09desperate to bring more success to the east end of Glasgow.
00:13:12Dale and Doherty caught up with Kieran at Lennox Town on Monday,
00:13:16so the day after the Hearts game,
00:13:18but before the news broke that Brendan Rodgers had resigned.
00:13:21Kieran, it was obviously a really difficult result against Harps
00:13:26last time out in the league.
00:13:27Now that you've had time to reflect, sleep on the result,
00:13:30what's the feeling in the group
00:13:31and how do you and the rest of the boys look to respond in the coming days?
00:13:36By winning.
00:13:37I think that's all we can do is go out and win.
00:13:39We know it wasn't good enough the other day
00:13:41and a few games this season have been like that.
00:13:44So it's about picking ourselves up and going again.
00:13:47It's easy to sit here and say what we need to do,
00:13:49but it's about showing what we need to do
00:13:50and that's the main focus.
00:13:52You say it's by winning,
00:13:54but there's obviously more to it than by winning.
00:13:57But what do the team need to do to get into the details
00:14:01and find a form that we know that you and the boys are all capable of?
00:14:06I think it's just getting back to the basics,
00:14:08doing what we're good at.
00:14:08And we've seen it in the Europa League game a few days earlier.
00:14:12We've done our jobs, we've worked hard,
00:14:14we've done the basics right,
00:14:15and then after that is when you get the goals,
00:14:17is when you get the good plays, the good performances.
00:14:21But I think for me it all starts from the basics.
00:14:24You're someone that knows exactly what this club means to the supporters.
00:14:29Do you sense the same sense of frustration that's in the supporters right now?
00:14:33And how determined are you and the group
00:14:35to get back to winning ways and put things right?
00:14:39That's why we all do it.
00:14:40We want to give the fans something to cheer about.
00:14:42As a football player, that's your main objective,
00:14:45is to be successful for your club.
00:14:47And it means so much to me and all the boys in there
00:14:50and we're doing everything we can to put it right
00:14:52and make the changes
00:14:53and just have a good momentum, good confidence,
00:14:57good results, good performances.
00:14:59And we just hope we can start building momentum soon.
00:15:01I suppose, Kieran, losing is not something that you're used to at Celtic.
00:15:06You can see quite visibly
00:15:07that you look like you're hurting by the recent form in the league.
00:15:11So do you feel like you can take that energy
00:15:14and use it as a motivator to push forward?
00:15:17I think you need to
00:15:17because I think even everyone in there has had setbacks in their career.
00:15:21Everyone knows it's never going to go smooth,
00:15:23it's never easy.
00:15:25And that's what we need to remember.
00:15:26We've all been in sticky situations before
00:15:28and it's remember how did you get out of it last time
00:15:30and it does come down to your core principles
00:15:32and a lot of that time it's hard work
00:15:34and determination and sticking at it
00:15:36and just grinding it out.
00:15:38You've spoken about helping players.
00:15:40There's young players in the squad
00:15:41like Dan Murray and Colby Donovan
00:15:43that are walking the path that you once walked.
00:15:47What kind of guidance are you giving to those guys?
00:15:49And not just you, but Callum McGregor and James Forrest as well,
00:15:53that senior group of players.
00:15:54Yeah, I think they're in a great place to be,
00:15:56a young player because they have got experienced ones in there
00:15:59who have done it like me, Jamesy and Carl especially
00:16:01who have done that and Callum's went on to be captains.
00:16:05So they're definitely learning from the right people in name
00:16:07and any help that we can give, we always give them it.
00:16:12And it's also about learning.
00:16:13These are all experiences for them.
00:16:15There's going to be good times and bad times
00:16:17when you're getting in a team and that.
00:16:19So it's all experience and learning.
00:16:21One of the positives of the last few weeks,
00:16:23especially in the Sturm Graz game,
00:16:24the first half against Hearts,
00:16:26is that connection that you're building with Sebastian Tonekthe.
00:16:30What's that relationship like to play in,
00:16:33getting to know each other,
00:16:34but how are you helping each other on the pitch
00:16:36as well as off the pitch?
00:16:38Yeah, it's just building connections.
00:16:40We speak off the pitch a lot about different things
00:16:42in training and games.
00:16:44I think that's what helps build the connection
00:16:46and obviously minutes played together
00:16:47people start to see that there's a more connection
00:16:50in the kind of same wavelength.
00:16:53And we just want to help the team as much as we can
00:16:56and we need to do that.
00:16:57And of course, the good thing about the fixtures right now
00:17:00is the next one is right round the corner.
00:17:02It's Falkirk, Celtic Park on Wednesday night.
00:17:05Already met them in the Cup this season,
00:17:07provided a bit of a challenge there.
00:17:09But what kind of challenge are you expecting from Falkirk
00:17:11and their support is the three points
00:17:14as a massive lead for us?
00:17:16Yeah, they're a good team and they play good football.
00:17:18I think John McGlynn's set them up great
00:17:20for the last few years
00:17:21and I've seen them, we've watched them,
00:17:22played against them.
00:17:23So we know it's going to be tough,
00:17:24but we're at home.
00:17:26We need to go at it straight away,
00:17:27100% effort, commitment,
00:17:29and do our best and we need to get three points.
00:17:41We're here at the brand new Barrafield Training Centre
00:17:47where 100 youngsters from Celtic's academy system
00:17:50are not only taking part in bespoke coaching sessions,
00:17:53but are also getting the chance to meet some of their heroes.
00:18:11I think, obviously, to have that money reinvested
00:18:20back into the training facility,
00:18:22all-weather purpose-done,
00:18:23which will help, obviously, during the cold weather.
00:18:26But it's great to just come and see it live, actually.
00:18:28It's a really nice facility.
00:18:30Everything's modern, fresh, up-to-date
00:18:32and you see the kids having fun here,
00:18:34so hopefully that can inspire the next generation
00:18:35to hopefully go on and go through the academy.
00:18:41As Celtic's most decorated player
00:18:45and as an academy product,
00:18:47how important is setting the standards early
00:18:50in a player's development with facilities like this?
00:18:53It's class.
00:18:54I think it's only going to help
00:18:55and, obviously, we've got the youth coaches here
00:18:57and we were around some of the training bits there
00:19:00and starting from a really early age
00:19:02and, as I said, I think it's only positive news for the club
00:19:06and I think it's what we'll continue to bring through the players here
00:19:09and that's what the club's all about.
00:19:11Coming in, I didn't expect to see it like this.
00:19:18You know, it's terrific for young kids
00:19:20to have a platform to be able to go out
00:19:22and build on their early football careers,
00:19:26so, no, it's brilliant.
00:19:27You can see all those kids here in the background
00:19:29going through their coaching sessions.
00:19:30You were taking a little walk around
00:19:31and you could see their reaction.
00:19:33They're delighted to see you guys.
00:19:35What were they saying to you
00:19:35and what were you sort of saying to them?
00:19:37Oh, it's cool because when we turned up,
00:19:39we didn't know the kids didn't know,
00:19:40so it was a surprise for them.
00:19:42So, you see all their reactions, I think, was brilliant,
00:19:44you know, because I remember being there myself
00:19:46and the first team player would come and visit
00:19:48and, you know, be like that.
00:19:49So, no, it's nice and, you know,
00:19:52they all seem dead excited, which is good.
00:19:54From your point of view, of course,
00:20:01you're working here every day, you're training here.
00:20:03You're relatively new, obviously, to the club.
00:20:05Yeah.
00:20:06How much are you enjoying, you know,
00:20:07not only being here at Celtic,
00:20:08but also this facility?
00:20:10Oh, my gosh, it's incredible.
00:20:12I've never played in a facility like this
00:20:14with all the support that we have.
00:20:16It's just really, really, really cool.
00:20:18Obviously, the sort of main marquee part of this new facility
00:20:25is this wonderful indoor arena that we're in,
00:20:27but there's so much more as well,
00:20:29because we're talking about the gym facilities
00:20:30and so on just a second ago.
00:20:32How much does that sort of help the mindset of the squad as well
00:20:36in terms of enjoying coming to work every day
00:20:39with all this at their disposal?
00:20:40Yeah, definitely.
00:20:41It helps enjoyment so much more.
00:20:42Like, everything being here makes the transition
00:20:45from training to gym and eating so much easier
00:20:48and, yeah, it's way more enjoyable.
00:20:50Obviously, the pitch here inside is amazing,
00:20:52but the gym and our new changing room
00:20:55has been just as good.
00:20:57Sometimes you need to pinch yourself.
00:20:58You know, all these years ago,
00:21:01I was one of these kids who had such big dreams,
00:21:04such big aspirations to go on
00:21:06and go through the academy and play for Celtic.
00:21:08And it's an amazing feeling.
00:21:11Really, really proud of it.
00:21:12And that's what Celtic's all about.
00:21:15Great to see the guys and the girls there
00:21:21entertaining the academy kids.
00:21:24£10,000 is up for grabs tonight
00:21:26in the Paradise Windfall Draw.
00:21:28If you're inside the UK and Ireland,
00:21:29you can buy yourself a ticket via the Celtic Pools app.
00:21:32It will cost you £2.
00:21:33You've got to be over £18 to play.
00:21:35That's the Paradise Windfall.
00:21:37Please visit begambleaware.org.
00:21:40Before we hear from Martin O'Neill again,
00:21:43he's got the tracksuit on now, I can tell you.
00:21:45Let's just briefly take a look back at the last time Falkirk came here, Peter.
00:21:48It was a convincing win for Celtic back in the middle of August.
00:21:514-1.
00:21:52In the end, this is the kind of convincing performance that I'm sure Martin and Sean would love for tonight.
00:21:57Absolutely.
00:21:58And I thought it was the best they've played all season, to be perfectly honest with you.
00:22:01Within about the first ten minutes, there must have been ten crosses.
00:22:04Scott Bain was playing and he had some outstanding saves.
00:22:07Some of the goals were excellent.
00:22:08They passed, moved the ball quickly.
00:22:10The delivery for you here, you can see if you are in the angles.
00:22:12Just everything on that particular night, just thought it was done with pace, direction.
00:22:16And everybody played well.
00:22:18And I think that's where you've got to start the game tonight.
00:22:20You've always got to do that at Celtic Park.
00:22:22You've got to put the opposition on their back foot and frighten them any.
00:22:25Because they're already frightened coming to Celtic Park.
00:22:27I don't care what anybody says.
00:22:28They've already got that little bit of fear.
00:22:29And you've got to make sure you don't give them their leg up.
00:22:31So, I'm sure Martin and his staff, the big thing they'll be saying to the players tonight,
00:22:36make sure we start the game quickly.
00:22:38Now, those are the boys that are in the starting 11 tonight.
00:22:42You can see Gavin Strachan, Steve McManus and Sean Maloney there,
00:22:46coming off after warming up the players.
00:22:48You never quite know what's round the corner in football.
00:22:52However, it is still a bit surreal to be saying these words.
00:22:54We can now hear from John Ledworth, who's been speaking a short time ago
00:22:58with Celtic manager Martin O'Neill.
00:23:01Martin, it's time for action now.
00:23:03I know it's been a whirlwind 48 hours or so,
00:23:05but how prepared and excited are you to take Celtic out tonight?
00:23:09Well, I'm really excited, obviously.
00:23:10I'm kind of a nervous excitement there, as you probably can tell in my voice.
00:23:14But, yeah, great.
00:23:16It's fantastic, absolutely fantastic.
00:23:20I'd never thought this would ever be happening.
00:23:22And it's like a kind of a semi-dream in many aspects.
00:23:27So, it's been a whirlwind, as you say, for the last 48 hours.
00:23:30But here we are, ready to go.
00:23:31And get on with it.
00:23:33Preparation has been limited.
00:23:35It's probably enough work to get to know your own squad
00:23:38without getting to know Falkirk.
00:23:40What do you expect from tonight's match?
00:23:42Well, it's obviously a tough game.
00:23:43Falkirk are on the rise themselves.
00:23:45Some really good results just recently.
00:23:48And they're a fine side.
00:23:49They will cause you problems.
00:23:50They want to come and play as well, too.
00:23:53And I think we have to look after ourselves.
00:23:55I know that's the old cliched phrase.
00:23:56But we really have to do that.
00:23:58Look after ourselves.
00:23:59Go and play now.
00:24:00Get confidence back.
00:24:02The best way to get confidence back is getting control of the ball,
00:24:05getting control of the game and scoring a goal.
00:24:06And you mentioned yesterday that winning football matches is ultimately what it's all about.
00:24:11Would that be your main aim tonight and performance comes second?
00:24:15Well, as you mentioned earlier, getting to know the players, yes, winning is important.
00:24:20Winning is important if you've known the players for 10 years.
00:24:23It's still important.
00:24:23So, yeah, for us, just to get back in the winning trail again, this is it.
00:24:27Good luck tonight, man.
00:24:28Thank you very much.
00:24:29Great to see Martin there.
00:24:31I'm glad someone's taking the blue suit and giving him the track suit.
00:24:33How do you think you'll be feeling now, Martin, there in that position, Peter?
00:24:37Because it's real now.
00:24:39Fantastic.
00:24:40He'll be feeling a million dollars, looking down at that badge on his chest.
00:24:43He'll be a proud man.
00:24:44And so he should be leading this fantastic football club.
00:24:47So, you're lucky enough to do it once and you get an opportunity to do it twice.
00:24:50Wow, he must be rubbing his hands.
00:24:52And I'm sure he'll be ready for it.
00:24:53And I'm sure right now he'll be in that changing room giving his pre-match words
00:24:57and exuding that aura that we know he can.
00:25:01Before he spoke to Martin, John Lloyd-Ledwood spoke to a really important character,
00:25:06a really important player in all of this, Celtic captain, Callum McGregor.
00:25:11Callum, do the changes over the last 24 hours offer an opportunity for a reset of a kind?
00:25:17Yeah, I think it has to be a clean slate now.
00:25:20Obviously, what's happened has happened.
00:25:21And the most important thing is always the football and getting back on the pitch.
00:25:25So, obviously, what's happened over the last couple of days has been difficult.
00:25:30But the players have to refocus and obviously deliver tonight a performance and three points.
00:25:35And I know the squad will be looking for a response.
00:25:38You know the fans will be looking for that.
00:25:40What shape should that take tonight?
00:25:42We have to win.
00:25:43It's as simple as that.
00:25:44I think we have to look at performance and maximum effort, energy as much as we can.
00:25:51And ultimately, we have to win the game.
00:25:52So, if we win the game, we go, we recover the next day and then we look forward to Sunday.
00:25:57But I think everything rides on tonight is about performance, hard work and getting a result.
00:26:02And at the top level of the game, teams are going to try and smell blood and maybe have a go.
00:26:08How important is it we start this match well tonight and let Falkirk know that they're here at Celtic Park?
00:26:13Yeah, well, that's it.
00:26:14Like you said, everybody might think we're a little bit vulnerable after what's happened.
00:26:17But the quickest way to kill that is to win tonight and be strong and put in a strong performance.
00:26:22So, it's obviously what's happened is disappointing.
00:26:26It's a big change.
00:26:26But ultimately, we now have to draw a line under it.
00:26:29We have to move forward.
00:26:30And the best way to do that is by winning football matches.
00:26:32And that starts tonight.
00:26:33Best of luck, Colin.
00:26:33Cheers. Thank you.
00:26:35Colin McGregor there with John Lydworth.
00:26:38He is such a huge player at the moment because, as I said,
00:26:41some of the players in the current squad might not be familiar with Martin O'Neill.
00:26:45There are no Sean, of course, as being a presence around Lennox Town.
00:26:49But a lot of them will look to the captain.
00:26:50They'll look to Colin McGregor in a situation like this.
00:26:54How much do you think we'll see a reaction early on in the way Celtic play?
00:26:58I think it's important.
00:26:59I think Martin may be a wee tweak here and there.
00:27:01You know what it's like.
00:27:02As I say, he was always a fast starter with the team he had.
00:27:05He always liked to put crosses in the box.
00:27:06I don't think Martin's ever changed from that.
00:27:08He wants to win.
00:27:10So, the best way he wins, minimum passes,
00:27:11getting the ball forward, getting the ball wide, getting the ball in the box.
00:27:14And he'll be expecting people to run both ways.
00:27:17Get behind the ball when you've not got it
00:27:18and get in front of it when you've got it to try and create chances.
00:27:21That never changes.
00:27:22Because at this football club, you have to win first and you have to play well.
00:27:26Martin will accept winning.
00:27:28And so will the players at this moment tend to bring that little bit of confidence
00:27:30back in them again.
00:27:32And this is the most important game.
00:27:33Calum's 100% right.
00:27:35This is the most important game.
00:27:36Sunday always looks after itself.
00:27:38But Sunday will look after itself a lot better in the days leading up to it
00:27:42with a good win tonight.
00:27:44Yeah, but there's a change in it.
00:27:45You've got to win every time you pull a Celtic jersey on.
00:27:48Home or away, you've got to perform and you've got to win.
00:27:50The biggest thing they'll take from the night is a performance,
00:27:53but the biggest thing is winning.
00:27:55That's the most important thing and always has been.
00:27:57Right, I hope somebody turns the lights on soon because the teams are walking out onto the pitch.
00:28:01Then I will hand to your commentary team of Simon Donnelly.
00:28:04And a man who, he won't like me saying this, was here when Martin was last here.
00:28:09And he's always been here since then.
00:28:11Paul Currahy, over to you.
00:28:12Thanks very much, Jenny.
00:28:14Yes, you've just outed me.
00:28:15He's been an elder statesman of the multimedia department.
00:28:20This is Celtic versus Falkirk and Martin O'Neill making a return to paradise,
00:28:26taking his place in the dugout.
00:28:28He'll get the reception, the warm reception that he deserves.
00:28:32As soon as his name was announced by John Ledwith,
00:28:36there was a roar echoed around paradise.
00:28:39Well, football is a beautiful game.
00:28:42It's also the most unpredictable and crazy game.
00:28:45Who would have thought that Martin O'Neill and Sean Maloney would be in the dugout for tonight?
00:28:49And they've made four changes in their first side since the weekend.
00:28:53Kasper Schmeichel retains his place in goals.
00:28:56Three changes in defence.
00:28:57Anthony Ralston, Austin Trusty and Martello Saracci in defence alongside Liam Scales.
00:29:03Callum McGregor, Arne Engels and Benjamin Negrin who drops into midfield.
00:29:07James Forrest starts in the right.
00:29:08Sebastian Tenetke on the left.
00:29:10Johnny Kenny through the middle.
00:29:11And also a welcome return to the squad for Dyson Maiera who's named amongst the substitutes.
00:29:17Falkirk, well, Celtic have lost their last two league games.
00:29:20Falkirk on a good run with two wins in a row.
00:29:23Two wins, 2-1 against Motherwell and Dindee.
00:29:26Three changes for John McGlynn's side.
00:29:28Efton Ross and Scott Arfield start.
00:29:30Well, Trey Samuel Hugginsui, the young 18-year-old on loan from Sunderland, makes his first start for Falkirk.
00:29:39A pre-match huddle for Callum McGregor is John McGlynn, just shaking hands with Martin O'Neill.
00:29:50Referee tonight is Ryan Lee.
00:29:52On VAR is Grant Irvin.
00:29:54A second visit so far this season to Paradise for Falkirk.
00:29:59They were here in the League Cup back in August.
00:30:02A 4-1 victory for Celtic that night.
00:30:05They'll be looking for a similar result this evening.
00:30:08It will be the visitors to get the game underway.
00:30:11Calvin Miller, former Celtic player, one of two former Celtics in the starting 11.
00:30:15The other one is between the sticks and Scott Bain.
00:30:21Important for Celtic after those consecutive defeats in the league against Dindee and Hearts to get back to winning ways.
00:30:27We'll keep you in touch with the other games tonight, including the game from Paisley where Hearts take on St. Mirren.
00:30:32But it's all about what Celtic do over the next 90 minutes as the mall immediately played forward.
00:30:37Austin Trusty gets his first head up.
00:30:40The ball's knocked back to the edge of the box.
00:30:44And the first foul goes the way of Celtic.
00:30:49Simon Downley alongside me in the commentary position tonight.
00:30:51Four changes tonight and important, certainly given what's happened in the last 48 hours,
00:30:55if Celtic can get an early goal just to kind of settle everyone down.
00:30:58Yeah, always the case, Paul and Celtic are at home here.
00:31:03It's a big week, but as Grant in the studio said, this is the important one.
00:31:08Three points, four changes, and three or four changes in the dugout as well.
00:31:12Football never ceases to amaze you.
00:31:16James Forrest amongst the starters.
00:31:20And a foul this time goes the way of the visitors.
00:31:24Arne Engels penalised for that foul on the fall court captain, Brad Spencer.
00:31:28He's stayed down, so that would certainly be an early concern for the foul court manager.
00:31:35The last thing he would want to be doing is to substitute his captain, although he's back on his feet.
00:31:41So foul court have an early opportunity to perhaps swing the ball forward.
00:31:47It's clicked.
00:31:48And again, trusty challenges for that one.
00:31:50But it's a chance.
00:31:52And it's a shot down the middle from Scott Arfield, straight into the arms of Kasper Schmeichel.
00:31:57So with 90 seconds on the clock, a chance there for the former Rangers midfielder.
00:32:02Yeah, and a good chance.
00:32:04Half volley.
00:32:05He probably disappointed, he didn't test the keeper more.
00:32:07Half volley from the edge of the box, with a bit of space.
00:32:09Just a little warning to Celtic at the start here, that foul court in the back of two wins.
00:32:15A good feel about themselves at the moment.
00:32:17But here comes Celtic.
00:32:19Negrin searches forward.
00:32:21Rolls on to Teneke.
00:32:23Teneke up against Keelan Adams.
00:32:25Cuts onto his right foot.
00:32:27Clips it across, looking for Siracchi.
00:32:29He manages to keep it in play.
00:32:31It's headed across again for Negrin.
00:32:33Well, this time his header finds its way into the arms of Scott Bain, but a quick attack down the left for Celtic.
00:32:40Yeah, a decent little bit of play there, Siracchi and Teneke.
00:32:43It comes back into Negrin here, just can't get enough power on the header.
00:32:46We've seen him last midweek with four or five headers.
00:32:50Couldn't direct that one to any great power.
00:33:03The visitors have the ball down the right-hand side, up at the corner flag, with control on the end from Dylan Tate.
00:33:14Isn't able to keep the ball in play, and Celtic have the throw-in, deep in their own territory.
00:33:20So an all-change dugout for Celtic.
00:33:24I'm sure if and when, hopefully Celtic's score, we'll see a characteristically enthusiastic celebration from Martin O'Neill.
00:33:35Good to see him in the track suit.
00:33:39Siracchi left-back, rolls it across to his goalkeeper.
00:33:44He nudges it on to Austin Trusted.
00:33:47Three changes at the back for Celtic tonight, one of them, Anthony Ralston.
00:33:51James Forrest slaps inside, good play from Forrest.
00:33:54And he's fouled there.
00:33:56Clumsy challenge from Tate, free kick.
00:33:59Calvin Miller.
00:34:01I think the Celtic fans are looking for the yellow card, which is normally the punishment, but referee Ryan Lee.
00:34:10A level of tolerance.
00:34:12Central yellow card, refusing to let Celtic take the quick free kick.
00:34:24Forrest again on the ball at the halfway line, two men round him, he's fouled again.
00:34:44And this time, Melissa just leaves his foot in, so James Forrest obviously targeted as a danger man in these early stages.
00:34:53Scales in the centre circle, moves forward.
00:35:06Kenny, back to McGregor.
00:35:07McGregor plays that one over the top, looking for the runner to net it.
00:35:10And then Scott Bain read that one well.
00:35:15Thumbs up from the Celtic captain, but it's in the arms of his former teammate.
00:35:19He'll just launch that one high into there.
00:35:25Again, trusty challenge, this time he's penalised for the challenge on Ogunsui.
00:35:31In fact, it's going for an offside, so the flag's up on the far side.
00:35:35Good ball.
00:35:41To Rick, he's forced to come deep.
00:35:44Back across now to Scales.
00:35:46Celtic down this left-hand side again.
00:35:51Good quick throw in, taken towards Negrin.
00:35:54Negrin plays it across, and it's headed away in the end.
00:35:57Well, Conor Allen held his nerve there.
00:36:00Knocked it out on this near side, but Celtic stepping up the pressure.
00:36:02A good delivery from Sarracchi on that left-hand side.
00:36:06Dangerous one for the Falkirk defence to deal with, which they did,
00:36:09but Celtic have the throw in.
00:36:12Ralston.
00:36:17Scales has got a bit of time in the middle of the park again.
00:36:20Kenny comes short.
00:36:21Sarracchi makes the run through the inside left channel,
00:36:23but it's switched out way to Tenekte.
00:36:26Up against Calvin Miller.
00:36:28Rolls it across, looking for trusty.
00:36:29And Ralston has to play it all the way back to his goalkeeper.
00:36:37Really expect Celtic, Simon, to get a lot of the ball in these early exchanges.
00:36:41As Tenekte challenges, it's going to go out of play.
00:36:45Yeah, it's much like most home games.
00:36:47The responsibility and the onus is in Celtic to go and create.
00:36:51It'll be interesting to see if there's more delivery from width.
00:36:56Grante touched on it with Martin O'Neill's style,
00:36:59trying to get balls into the box and put the back line under pressure.
00:37:02Nearly seven minutes on the clock,
00:37:22still goalless between Celtic and Falkirk.
00:37:25Both sides have had an effort on target,
00:37:28but comfortably saved in both instances by the respective goalkeepers.
00:37:34Falkirk full of confidence.
00:37:35They've had a good start to life in the Premiership.
00:37:38Currently six in the table.
00:37:40And as I mentioned, back-to-back wins.
00:37:43Another offside decision.
00:37:45Goes against the Falkirk player.
00:37:48Always tough for any new team to come up into the Premiership,
00:37:56but John McLean has done very well with his side.
00:37:59He has.
00:38:00He has.
00:38:00They've picked up enough points to be sitting mid-table at the moment.
00:38:04As I said, there'll be a good feel about them
00:38:05with the two wins that they've had in recent times.
00:38:09But again,
00:38:11as we play it around the back here,
00:38:13the onus is on Celtic again.
00:38:14I mean, it's very real though that we're back-to-back defeats.
00:38:17So it's important to get back into winning ways starting tonight.
00:38:23Negrin surges forward again.
00:38:25Stumbles this time the referee ways play on.
00:38:27And it's Falkirk.
00:38:29A slack pass there.
00:38:30And McGregor gets it back to Negrin.
00:38:32Switches it inside to Engels.
00:38:34Stabs it through to Johnny Kenny.
00:38:36Just come off his heel there.
00:38:37The Irishman wasn't able to run onto that one.
00:38:40A good ball through there from Engels.
00:38:42Yeah, fantastic ball.
00:38:43First time.
00:38:45Sees the space.
00:38:46Rolls it in.
00:38:47Waits it perfectly.
00:38:48And just unfortunately,
00:38:50Kenny can't take it in his stride.
00:38:52Otherwise, he was through and goal.
00:38:55Falkirk switched that ball over to the left-hand side.
00:38:59Lisa just plays it back inside to his captain.
00:39:01Middle of the park.
00:39:02Falkirk on the ball.
00:39:05Switching it left to right.
00:39:08It's on the halfway line.
00:39:10That's a pass that's over-hit.
00:39:15Arfield wasn't able to control it.
00:39:17And Celtic have possession back.
00:39:20Just on the edge of their own area.
00:39:21Scales just rolls it across to Kasper Schmeichel.
00:39:27He just clips it forward.
00:39:28Ralston on the halfway line.
00:39:30Plays that one.
00:39:33There's no one there.
00:39:34And in the end, Scott Bain.
00:39:35Comfortable.
00:39:37Martin O'Neill just patrolling the edge of the technical area.
00:39:41As Bain launches that one long.
00:39:43Scales, challenges.
00:39:45And again, another offside decision.
00:39:47Penalising Falkirk.
00:39:52That'll be something John McGlynn will be wanting to make sure.
00:39:55You know, he's looking for his forwards to keep an eye.
00:39:56Because it's giving possession back too easily.
00:39:59Yeah, and they've been caught two or three times already at the start of this game.
00:40:02With that back line offside.
00:40:13Almost at the ten minute mark.
00:40:14Scales surges forward.
00:40:16He's challenged late.
00:40:17Should be a foul.
00:40:18Well, referee ways play on.
00:40:20And it's ushered back by Henderson to his goalkeeper.
00:40:24And Falkirk passing the way.
00:40:26Out of trouble.
00:40:27Good pass forward there from Dylan Tate.
00:40:29And suddenly Falkirk in the middle of the park.
00:40:31With Arfield.
00:40:33Fastly experienced player.
00:40:35Second spell at Falkirk.
00:40:44And it's the visitors in possession at the moment.
00:40:46The ball switched forward to Adams.
00:40:49He scored Falkirk's goal in that 4-1 victory for Celtic.
00:40:53I have to say it was an absolute belter.
00:40:55But it was just a consolation in the end.
00:40:56And Celtic, of course, have progressed in the cup.
00:40:59They have the semi-final at Hamden this Sunday against Rangers.
00:41:04This evening it's all about getting the three points in the league.
00:41:09And Austin Trusty restored to the side.
00:41:13Then goes back to the American.
00:41:14All the way back to Kasper Schmeichel.
00:41:21And he'll switch that one over to the left-hand side.
00:41:24But in the end it's a comfortable one.
00:41:26Shepherded back to Scott Bain again.
00:41:32Launches that long.
00:41:34And in the end,
00:41:34Ogunsui wins the header.
00:41:37The ball played through.
00:41:37It's a chance.
00:41:38Scales battling for that one.
00:41:39He does well.
00:41:40And in the end,
00:41:40Kasper Schmeichel.
00:41:42A challenge.
00:41:43And the foul
00:41:44goes against Ethan Ross.
00:41:48A ball over the top.
00:41:49And it was Ross
00:41:50in a race with
00:41:51Liam Scales.
00:41:53Kasper Schmeichel not happy with the challenge.
00:41:56Yeah, and I think
00:41:57Scales has got to go for it, hasn't he?
00:41:58Yeah, he's got to go for it.
00:41:59But I think Scales does well.
00:42:00Just leans in with his body.
00:42:02Trying to guide it back to the keeper.
00:42:04Because I think Ross had a little
00:42:05start on Scales there.
00:42:08Initially.
00:42:09He covered well.
00:42:12Here come Falkirk again.
00:42:14It's a slight pass.
00:42:15And Arne Engels has got a bit of space.
00:42:17Plays that one forwards.
00:42:20Put it into the arms of Scott Bain.
00:42:29Falkirk have the ball.
00:42:31Back with their goalkeeper.
00:42:34Kenny goes to close him down.
00:42:35Bain just knocks that one over
00:42:36to the right-hand side.
00:42:38Adams has got a bit of space.
00:42:40Down the right-hand side.
00:42:41Driving forward.
00:42:43Leads it for Calvin Miller.
00:42:46Tate's in the middle of the park.
00:42:47But Miller instead opts
00:42:48to give it to Spencer.
00:42:57The ball played long.
00:42:58It's a good ball in the end
00:42:59there from the Falkirk captain.
00:43:00Again, offside decision.
00:43:03I think he was looking for
00:43:04the foul for the challenge
00:43:06by Callum McGregor.
00:43:08So, just over 12 minutes gone.
00:43:10John McGlynn will be
00:43:11fairly pleased with the way
00:43:12his side have settled into
00:43:13the game at Celtic Park.
00:43:15Yeah, they've just obviously
00:43:16crept offside
00:43:17three or four times there.
00:43:18That would be the only frustration
00:43:19that they've started reasonably well.
00:43:22Celtic noticeably
00:43:23try to play the ball
00:43:25with it forward quicker
00:43:26but just not the quality
00:43:27needed so far.
00:43:32Sirachie.
00:43:34Kerry plays it back
00:43:35to his fellow countrymen.
00:43:36Celtic again
00:43:37start to build
00:43:38from the back.
00:43:45Forrest on the halfway line
00:43:46his only option
00:43:47is Anthony Ralston.
00:43:49Worth noting that
00:43:50Martin O'Neill only took charge
00:43:51of Celtic against Falkirk
00:43:53on one occasion
00:43:53in his career
00:43:54as a Celtic manager
00:43:56previously
00:43:57and that ended up
00:43:58in an 8-1 win
00:44:00for Celtic.
00:44:04Back in 2004
00:44:05when Ross Wallace
00:44:06got a hat trick.
00:44:07Stephen McManus
00:44:09who's amongst the coaching
00:44:10staff now
00:44:11was also on the
00:44:11score sheet there
00:44:12so
00:44:13we'll take any win
00:44:18although 8-1
00:44:18would be ideal.
00:44:20I was just going to say
00:44:21we'll take any sort
00:44:22of win tonight.
00:44:22And again
00:44:28the ball
00:44:28shepherded back
00:44:29to Scott Bain
00:44:3078 games
00:44:33during his time
00:44:35at Celtic
00:44:35and
00:44:38playing very well
00:44:39for Falkirk
00:44:40this season.
00:44:40Carl McGregor
00:44:46takes up the play
00:44:47rolls it out
00:44:49wide
00:44:50Saracet
00:44:50here comes
00:44:53McGregor again
00:44:54driving forward
00:44:55leads it for
00:44:55Tenecte
00:44:56Tenecte

00:45:08still Forrest
00:45:10two men round him
00:45:12James Forrest
00:45:13eventually closed down
00:45:15and Ross comes away
00:45:16with the ball
00:45:16he's back now
00:45:18with Lisa
00:45:19McGregor intercepts
00:45:22the pass
00:45:22Forrest
00:45:23flicks it across
00:45:24now to Negrin
00:45:25Negrin
00:45:25takes the shot
00:45:26but it's blocked
00:45:27Calvin Miller
00:45:28tries to get beyond
00:45:29Saracet

00:45:32break of the ball
00:45:33yeah we want it

00:45:35to the captain
00:45:36a nice little ball
00:45:37threaded through
00:45:38from
00:45:38James Forrest
00:45:40unfortunately
00:45:40Negrin
00:45:40couldn't get away
00:45:41from the block
00:45:42to get his shot
00:45:42on target
00:45:43Falkirk again
00:45:47open up the play

00:45:54channel
00:45:54and again
00:45:58it's switched out
00:45:58wide
00:45:59on this left
00:46:00flank
00:46:00the ball
00:46:01floated across

00:46:23which gave
00:46:23his side
00:46:25all three points
00:46:28Falkirk on the
00:46:36ball
00:46:36and it's played out
00:46:42controlled by John

00:46:44technical area

00:46:50desperately
00:46:51yeah

01:01:11well
01:01:13Negrin

01:16:38dugout
01:16:392-0
01:16:39at half-time
01:16:40Peter
01:16:41it was an
01:16:42entertaining
01:16:42first 45
01:16:43minutes
01:16:43what did
01:16:44you make
01:16:44of it
01:16:44yes I
01:16:44thought
01:16:45they'd done
01:16:45excellent
01:16:45they grew
01:16:46into the
01:16:46game
01:16:46you could
01:16:47understand
01:16:48their
01:16:48nervousness
01:16:49at first
01:16:49I think
01:16:50there's been
01:16:50a couple
01:16:50of adjustments
01:16:51Martin's
01:16:51made
01:16:51I'm not
01:16:52sure if
01:16:52Engels is
01:16:52playing more
01:16:53flatter
01:16:53along with
01:16:54Callum
01:16:54McGregor
01:16:55allowing
01:16:55Negrin to be
01:16:56closer to
01:16:56Johnny
01:16:57Kenny
01:16:57because that's
01:16:57definitely
01:16:58the way it
01:16:58looks out
01:16:59here
01:17:00because Negrin's
01:17:00so close
01:17:01to that
01:17:01it takes a
01:17:02wee bit of
01:17:02pressure off
01:17:02Kenny
01:17:03you like
01:17:03because it
01:17:06gives you
01:17:06more bodies
01:17:06in the box
01:17:07and I
01:17:08thought prior
01:17:08to it
01:17:09he was going
01:17:09to play
01:17:09him a little
01:17:09bit higher
01:17:10but I
01:17:10didn't know
01:17:10what he
01:17:10would do
01:17:11but he's
01:17:11done that
01:17:12and that's
01:17:12the way it
01:17:13looks to me
01:17:13and it allows
01:17:14him to go
01:17:14and be free
01:17:15getting there
01:17:15I know he's
01:17:16going to miss
01:17:16chances
01:17:16I know he's
01:17:17going to get
01:17:17chances
01:17:17he's been
01:17:18involved in
01:17:19everything
01:17:19he's one of
01:17:19those players
01:17:20he's going to
01:17:21miss chances
01:17:21he's always
01:17:22going to be
01:17:23there
01:17:23he's got a
01:17:24great willingness
01:17:25to get in
01:17:25the box
01:17:26and I think
01:17:27that's why
01:17:27Martin's
01:17:27adjusted
01:17:28it looks like
01:17:28this anyway
01:17:29but Arnie
01:17:30Ingalls
01:17:30is sitting
01:17:30more closer
01:17:31to Callum
01:17:31and he's
01:17:31a little bit
01:17:32higher
01:17:32more than
01:17:32that
01:17:32what they'd
01:17:33call a
01:17:3310 position
01:17:34now
01:17:34and he's
01:17:35up there
01:17:35so he can
01:17:35have that
01:17:36freedom to
01:17:36go and
01:17:36press the
01:17:37ball
01:17:37but also
01:17:37again
01:17:38when the
01:17:38ball comes
01:17:38in
01:17:39and you
01:17:39can see
01:17:39that one
01:17:40the goal
01:17:40with Tony
01:17:41Ralston
01:17:41he makes
01:17:41a run
01:17:42already
01:17:42in the
01:17:42box
01:17:42like a
01:17:43second
01:17:43but he's
01:17:45nodded it
01:17:45back across
01:17:46for Johnny
01:17:46Kenny
01:17:46in the back
01:17:47of the net
01:17:47it's
01:17:47interesting
01:17:48that you're
01:17:48already
01:17:48seeing
01:17:49little changes
01:17:49just
01:17:50I thought
01:17:58small details
01:18:00I think
01:18:00I've noticed
01:18:01in the game
01:18:01that there's
01:18:02slight changes
01:18:03he'll not
01:18:03want to do
01:18:03too much
01:18:04but I think
01:18:05it's affected
01:18:05the game
01:18:05and there's
01:18:06been some
01:18:06other really
01:18:07good chances
01:18:07we gave
01:18:07a few chances
01:18:08earlier in the
01:18:09game
01:18:09which we have
01:18:10to be careful
01:18:10of
01:18:11Schmeichel
01:18:11had a very
01:18:12very good
01:18:12save
01:18:12but I think
01:18:13the Negrim
01:18:14position has
01:18:14been the biggest
01:18:15thing that helps
01:18:16Johnny Kenny
01:18:16takes a lot
01:18:17bit of pressure
01:18:17off him
01:18:18he's hoping
01:18:18he gets his
01:18:19hat trick
01:18:19now
01:18:20of course
01:18:20we will never
01:18:21forget
01:18:21Martin O'Neill
01:18:22he took
01:18:22Celtic to
01:18:23Seville
01:18:23in that
01:18:23UEFA Cup
01:18:24final in
01:18:242003
01:18:2516 days
01:18:26later
01:18:27Johnny Kenny
01:18:27was born
01:18:28that is the
01:18:30reality of the
01:18:31situation
01:18:31and they have
01:18:32both combined
01:18:33to give Celtic
01:18:33a 2-0 lead
01:18:34Johnny Kenny
01:18:35as well as
01:18:37everyone in this
01:18:37stadium
01:18:38or just about
01:18:38everyone will be
01:18:39absolutely
01:18:39delighted
01:18:40because he's
01:18:41getting a chance
01:18:42now and now
01:18:42to get these
01:18:43two goals
01:18:44you can see
01:18:44exactly what it
01:18:45meant to him
01:18:45yes very much
01:18:46so I mean
01:18:46it does
01:18:47fantastic reaction
01:18:48because if you
01:18:48notice they've
01:18:49been knocked
01:18:49down onto the
01:18:50ground prior to
01:18:51it at the
01:18:51edge of the
01:18:51box
01:18:52he gets
01:18:52his self up
01:18:53see him there
01:18:53he gets down
01:18:54on the ground
01:18:54he reacts
01:18:55now look all
01:18:56good strikers
01:18:57as Simon spoke
01:18:57about
01:18:58he's looking at
01:18:59the ball
01:18:59where's the
01:19:00ball
01:19:00the defender's
01:19:00went and headed
01:19:01he's the only
01:19:01one on the
01:19:02move
01:19:02all good
01:19:03strikers do
01:19:04he's never
01:19:05went dead
01:19:05the striker has
01:19:06and that gives
01:19:06him the
01:19:07opportunity
01:19:07because it's
01:19:08a really good
01:19:09save
01:19:09but fantastic
01:19:11reactions
01:19:11and on his
01:19:12toes as well
01:19:13you can just
01:19:14sense that
01:19:14energy about
01:19:15him
01:19:15yes but as
01:19:16I said in
01:19:16the box
01:19:16you've got
01:19:17to be like
01:19:17as a striker
01:19:18you've always
01:19:19expected it
01:19:20to come off
01:19:20the goalkeeper
01:19:21a post
01:19:21a deflection
01:19:22to you
01:19:22but yet
01:19:23again
01:19:23Negrin was
01:19:24in there
01:19:24again
01:19:25it's great
01:19:25to see
01:19:25Mark
01:19:26get the
01:19:26enjoyment
01:19:26as all
01:19:27the supporters
01:19:27do here
01:19:28he's getting
01:19:29a goal
01:19:29absolutely
01:19:30and it wasn't
01:19:31long before
01:19:31Johnny Kenny
01:19:32had got his
01:19:33second
01:19:33I'll let you
01:19:34into a secret
01:19:34Peter Grant
01:19:35said to me
01:19:35pre-match
01:19:36that for
01:19:37Johnny Kenny
01:19:37to oust
01:19:38Dyson Maeda
01:19:38from the team
01:19:39at Hampden
01:19:40on Sunday
01:19:40he's probably
01:19:41going to have
01:19:41to score a
01:19:41hat trick
01:19:42tonight
01:19:42well he's got
01:19:43two in the
01:19:44first half
01:19:44Peter
01:19:44and there'd be
01:19:45nobody happier
01:19:45but as I say
01:19:46it's like an
01:19:46old centre forward
01:19:47pairing here
01:19:48you see
01:19:48Tony Ralston
01:19:49lifts his head
01:19:49but you can see
01:19:50Negrin making
01:19:50the space
01:19:51to get into
01:19:51the box
01:19:51now you see
01:19:52the reaction
01:19:53of Johnny Kenny
01:19:53he knows he gets
01:19:54the other side
01:19:54of the defender
01:19:55and he gets
01:19:56the touch
01:19:57into the back
01:19:57of the head
01:19:57but all round
01:19:58really good play
01:19:59and I think
01:20:00that's helped him
01:20:01because he's got
01:20:01more bodies
01:20:02round about
01:20:02he's not been
01:20:03as isolated
01:20:03with the two
01:20:04wide plows
01:20:04being out
01:20:05the touchline
01:20:05he's been
01:20:06more closer
01:20:07to him
01:20:08and you always
01:20:09need that
01:20:09you need bodies
01:20:10in the box
01:20:10and I think
01:20:11that makes it
01:20:12easier for him
01:20:12but fantastic
01:20:14reactions yet again
01:20:15so delighted
01:20:15for the young man
01:20:16Celtic's first half
01:20:17performances this
01:20:18season up to now
01:20:19have been in
01:20:19on the whole
01:20:20relatively flat
01:20:21you've got two
01:20:22goals there
01:20:23it could have
01:20:23been 3-4-5
01:20:25Celtic have had
01:20:26a number of
01:20:27chances to put
01:20:28the ball in the
01:20:28net besides
01:20:29the two that
01:20:30they actually did
01:20:30yes but we had
01:20:31to be careful
01:20:32because I think
01:20:32to start the game
01:20:33Falkirk had the
01:20:33better chances
01:20:34so the boys
01:20:35could understand
01:20:36but listen
01:20:37we've got to
01:20:37give Sirachi
01:20:37I thought he's
01:20:38been excellent
01:20:38he's been
01:20:39unbelievable
01:20:40at pounding up
01:20:40down that left
01:20:41hand side
01:20:42Negrin in again
01:20:43getting in the box
01:20:43we keep saying it
01:20:44but Sirachi
01:20:45he's on selfish
01:20:46running
01:20:46getting forward
01:20:47getting crosses
01:20:48in the box
01:20:48all the things
01:20:49we've probably
01:20:49spoke about
01:20:50that's fantastic
01:20:50defending
01:20:51James actually
01:20:52gets there first
01:20:53I think if he's
01:20:54a wee bit more
01:20:54braver he gets
01:20:55a goal from it
01:20:56but it's a
01:20:56fantastic ball
01:20:57you know this is
01:20:58Negrin
01:20:58Simon touched on it
01:20:59first touch
01:21:01lets him down
01:21:01it'll lose the
01:21:02keeper an opportunity
01:21:02to get there
01:21:03but this is the
01:21:04sort of thing
01:21:05get into the
01:21:05byline
01:21:06deliver them
01:21:07any centre forward
01:21:08any midfielder
01:21:09and it's great
01:21:10defending
01:21:10but it's brilliant
01:21:11because that's what
01:21:12you want for your
01:21:13wide players
01:21:13whether it's your
01:21:14full backs getting
01:21:14forward
01:21:15crosses in the
01:21:16look at the
01:21:16amount of bodies
01:21:16that's in the box
01:21:17and that makes a
01:21:18difference
01:21:19please believe me
01:21:19because they can't
01:21:20all be picked up
01:21:21you'll be disappointed
01:21:23in that Negrin
01:21:23I think he's got to
01:21:24hit the target
01:21:24and we keep saying it
01:21:26last week
01:21:26Simon touched on it
01:21:27again
01:21:28he missed a lot of
01:21:29chances
01:21:29but he keeps going
01:21:30and that's what I love
01:21:31about him
01:21:31and that's what
01:21:32somebody's fit enough
01:21:33to wear the jersey
01:21:33he doesn't hide
01:21:34and he keeps going
01:21:34back in for another
01:21:35unless he'll probably
01:21:36have more chances
01:21:36in the second half
01:21:37to get off the mark
01:21:39for himself
01:21:39so a very entertaining
01:21:41and satisfactory
01:21:42first 45 minutes
01:21:43for Celtic
01:21:44let's break completely
01:21:45now from the men's
01:21:46game and get to know
01:21:47a few of the Celtic
01:21:48FC women's players
01:21:49Kelly Clark
01:21:50Chloe Craig
01:21:51Lisa Rogers
01:21:52the goalkeeper
01:21:52and Emma Lawton
01:21:53took part in a
01:21:54best friends feature
01:21:56for Celtic TV
01:21:57it started out
01:21:58with good intentions
01:21:59but then the rules
01:21:59well they just got
01:22:00thrown out the window
01:22:013, 2, 1
01:22:13perfect
01:22:14oh my god
01:22:16wait, no
01:22:28wait, she
01:22:29sorry, I'm leaving
01:22:47oh, so why
01:22:47is yours a sad day?
01:22:48because it would be
01:22:49Craig, you shouldn't
01:22:50do the ACL
01:22:50oh, oh, okay
01:22:51that was sad
01:22:54that was really weird
01:22:55I think we're gonna lose
01:22:56that is so hard
01:23:03that's, I, well
01:23:04Lisa
01:23:06just go gut
01:23:08don't do it
01:23:10I don't know the answer
01:23:13to that question
01:23:13I think I would
01:23:14I don't think
01:23:15she's made more
01:23:16starts
01:23:17I would have said
01:23:20Lisa
01:23:20what is the answer?
01:23:22well, sorry
01:23:25I got confused
01:23:25by the question
01:23:26because I have
01:23:26scored a goal
01:23:27but when
01:23:27when did she
01:23:28have scored?
01:23:29no, you haven't
01:23:30it was an own
01:23:31goal in the
01:23:31Champions League
01:23:32wait, sorry
01:23:35that was really
01:23:36embarrassing
01:23:36I got really
01:23:37confused by the
01:23:37question
01:23:38oh, Lisa
01:23:39you need to think
01:23:40that was a
01:23:40rule of best
01:23:41that
01:23:41oh, that's hard
01:23:47Kelly
01:23:48I have absolutely
01:23:51not a clue here
01:23:51by the way
