00:00We'll now turn our attention to the battle in Norman.
00:03Right now, Oklahoma opens up as a four-and-a-half,
00:06five-point home favorite over Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin.
00:10Ole Miss with a disappointing road loss to Georgia last week.
00:14They now go back on the road.
00:1654-and-a-half is the total coach.
00:18Can Ole Miss exploit that Oklahoma defense in back-to-back weeks?
00:23Well, they're going to have to mix the run-in with the pass
00:26because Brent Billables, his head coaching talents,
00:29will come out as he serves as the defensive coordinator.
00:33And he leads the nation in sacks.
00:35He leads the nation in total defense.
00:37They have been dominant.
00:38And having worked at Clemson for a couple years as an analyst
00:42that did a lot of work for him,
00:44he will find a different way to attack the quarterback
00:47and pressure every game.
00:49Whatever Ole Miss prepares for this week,
00:52he'll come with a different player.
00:53He'll blitz in a different way.
00:54And he will study.
00:56I know him and Lane Kiffin have been arguing over
00:58who tries to steal signals more.
01:00I guarantee Brent Venables would have his coaches
01:04looking at every TV copy, every film,
01:07because I did it for two years.
01:08He will have every idea about what Ole Miss is doing.
01:11So I think they've got to run the ball
01:13and mix it up at Ole Miss to protect that quarterback.
01:16It'll be a little different on defense than it's fit for him,
01:19even at Georgia,
01:20who doesn't have the pressure defense that Oklahoma has.
01:23Now, Oklahoma, a dominant home team this year, 4-0 in Norman.
01:28They've won those games by an average margin of victory, Coach,
01:32of 22.2 points per game.
01:34We know that they have one of the best rush defenses
01:37in all of the SEC as well,
01:39holding opposing offenses well under four yards per carry.
01:43If they could force Trinidad Chambliss into long third downs,
01:46that could mean predictable situations.
01:49That front seven potentially could get quarterback pressures,
01:52and that has to be the defensive game plan for Oklahoma.
01:56For Ole Miss, can they shut down the run against the Sooners?
01:59The Sooners were very effective last week.
02:01If Ole Miss is going to pull this ball game out defensively,
02:04they really need to shut down the rushing attack,
02:07something they couldn't do last week against the Bulldogs.
02:11Well, I think that's very important that they do.
02:13John Mateer, if he's healthy, a lot of people say,
02:16well, Coach, how can you be so pulled for Oklahoma
02:18when they lost so bad to Texas?
02:20Because John Mateer wasn't ready for him to have the kind of game
02:24he needs to have, explosive plays.
02:26They've got to be able to run that football and mix it up.
02:29And I will say this, Georgia never got slowed down
02:31running the football against Ole Miss.
02:33They ran four straight quarters.
02:35They ran the football well against Ole Miss.
02:37So I think Ole Miss will be vulnerable to the running attack.
02:41And if they're successful there,
02:43John Mateer will really be effective throwing the ball downfield.
02:46So it's all based on run the football enough
02:49to get those deep balls thrown from John Mateer.
02:53Because like I said, Ole Miss is going to have to score points.
02:56I believe they're going to have to score points
02:59if John Mateer gets hot with that offense.
